I stumbled upon the Mustard Seed Cafe while exploring downtown Kingsport, and I wasn't disappointed with what I found. The cafe has a full restaurant menu with sandwiches, soups, salads, and desserts. There is enough variety to keep me coming back every time I visit downtown Kingsport. They also have really fantastic sweet tea: not to sweet, just right. I ordered the Chili Bowl special of the day. It was meaty, warm but not too hot, and came loaded with optional cheese on top. It was a really filling meal for under $10 and left me satisfied. The desserts are out of this world. I ordered a "slice" of chocolate cake. That slice was three or four times bigger than any slice I've ever gotten at a restaurant, and it was just $4.99. I ended up taking a large portion of it back to the grandmother's house so she could enjoy the rest! The cafe has a single outdoor table for streetside dining, which isn't too bad since it's on a quiet street a few blocks from Main Street. Inside it is bright with large glass windows two stories high flooding the place with daylight. There was plenty of room between the tables so you're not bumping into other people. It was quiet, pleasant, and very comfortable inside. The waitress was very nice, helpful (she answered so many questions for me!), and thoughtful. It was a great experience here, and definitely a place I will visit again. TIP: There is plenty of street parking in front of the cafe, but you can also park on adjacent streets if the parking is full.

Had lunch here today. Right up front I have to say the poor review is for terrible customer service. The food overall was very good, except for the chicken salad that tasted like tuna salad. We were informed by the owner / manager " it can't be tuna salad cause there's grapes in it". It tasted and smelled like tuna! He didn't apologize or even offer to make it right.

Fantastic food, exceptional service and a charming atmosphere! I ate here twice while staying in Kingsport, and even took a delightful salad to go for my flight home to Seattle. The waitresses were very friendly, warm and inviting. I wish this was closer to where I live! A must if you are in Kingsport!

The first time I had lunch from here, I was so impressed with the quality and taste of everything I had. It was so delicious! I would recommend going when you have a little extra time.. This place is super busy but well worth the wait.

My sister took me here for lunch food was fantastic loved the look of the restaurant. The waitress was very nice and did a great job! The lemonade is delicious not to sweet and not to sour. The food was hot and delicious I would highly recommend this restaurant.
