I *really* enjoy El Mezcal, and I'm not the biggest Tex-Mex fan. The items on their menu I enjoy the most: Guacamole Mexicano Mexican Hot Wings Pollo Chipotle The Sir Porky The waiters are also gracious and have a sense of humor.

Mexican food. Our favorite. Being raised in Arizona gave us a whole different perspective on Mexican food. My wife even worked in a Mexican restaurant as a teenager. We have a very distinct palette for it. Saying that El Mezcal is not too bad. As soon as we walked in we expected it to be pretty good as everyone working there were Hispanic. The restaurant was very clean including the bathrooms. The service was very quick and we got our drinks right away. Bonus, they have Dr. Pepper for my wife. The food was okay. Like I said before, Mexican food is our favorite so we are picky. I had the #3 with a chicken enchilada with verde (green) sauce, a carne asada taco and the chili relleno. Needless to say I couldn't eat it all. The chicken enchilada was pretty darn good, the rest of it was not bad. My wife had the #3 with a cheese enchilada with the red sauce, a soft chicken taco and the chili relleno. She said all of her food was okay, middle of the road. All together we are very pleased with the service and the cleanliness, we just wish the food was a little better with a little more kick.

This is almost like most Mexican restaurants but not quite the same. In addition to the typical foods you see at places like this, they also have empanadas and crab quesadillas. The salsa is lame, the chips are ok, the chimichanga is fairly good, chilli relleno was below average, guacamole was fairly good. DO NOT GET THE FRIED ICE CREAM!!!! It is just ice cream rolled in corn flakes. Service is fair, the restaurant is clean, and the prices are fair.

Just my opinion the food isn't that good. The service was good and the server was comical and attentive. I ordered a jumbo Margarita and the taste was ok, seemed like the alcohol content was weak however after half of a glass i had a buzz, pods my son drive us home.

Your typical Mexican restaurant, but the crab quesadilla that's always on the "Specials" board is to-die-for. Lots of lump crab meat, side guacamole salad and rice.

I like the food here okay,it's not great...but the staff is rude!! They make you feel like you are an unwanted houseguest...not people I want to give my money to!! Not going back anytime soon!

This is not a crappy chain restaurant, although I assumed it was. (The only reason we went was to feed hungry kids.) I expected it to be awful until my plate arrived. I immediately noticed the quality of the food. It was great. The oldest kid ate literally everything on her plate, including homemade tamales. That's pretty good for a kid who still likes her ingredients "separated". It was a nice surprise. Really nice wait staff too. I would go there again if I am ever in Cordova at mealtime.

Really? Very rude and will never get another dollar of mine. There are enough low quality Mexican places without this one.

Good food at a good price. We went in late on a Monday and it was fairly full. Obviously a neighborhood favorite. The meal and the service were both good. Nothing was particularly exceptional, but we were just looking for decent Mexican and drinks. We got what we were looking for at El Mezcal.

Exceptional Service and great food! Order the Carnitas Dinner. It's AMAZING. We had a great waiter and our food came out fast. Will definitely come back to this place

Visiting in the area and we needed a Mexican food fix. We were there around 8 p.m. on a weekday. The place reeked of that nasty pine type floor cleaner. The waiter was indifferent. The food wasn't too bad (had fajitas and burritos) but they didn't go out of their way to make this a place I want to return to.

We have dined there several times and it is our favorite Mexican restaurant. Consistently good. A clean place too.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
