Healthy Meal suggestions for Cracker Barrel

I visited this location with a group from church since our pastor loves it. He boasts he has the entire menu memorized, which I find a regrettable use of memory. I had not been to Cracker Barrel in at least 8 years. I am not a fan. In large part, this is not the fault of the restaurant, but the reality of my wife's cooking. She is a vastly superior cook of typical southern food, so it's hard to get excited by the food here. For example, on this particular visit I found the grits to be watery, tasteless and indedible. The gravy also lacked in any flavor. The biscuits were good, the poached eggs were cooked perfectly, and the hashbrowns were good. All in all, a mediocre performance by my standards. However, the store in the front of each restaurant always has something funny to make you laugh while you're waiting in line, and the waitresses are oustanding. Many of these women have worked at CrackerBarl for many years. They know the menu and they have, or affect, southern charm. In my opinion this redeems the restaurant from a two star rating. That having been said, I realize the majority of people do not have a spouse that can cook for them as if they were a King. Many more have no concept of what southern food, or southern hospitality is, so in this respect I recommend it to Yankees and foreigners as well as unfortunate husbands and thus elevate it from a three to a four star rating.

Breakfast at cracker barrel was pretty good. Pecan pancakes eggs scrambled bacon sausage with hash brown casserole. Everything was good Andrew our waiter was very cordial and provided excellent customer service. The wait time was less than 10 minutes.

I've been here multiple times and it always is amazing. They usually make a couple of mistakes when I go, including this time, but the food is just awesome. I usually get the Sunrise Sampler, or sometimes Grandpa's Country Fried Breakfast or today's Momma's Pancake Breakfast, eating here is always a pleasure. If your grandparents/ parents are over at your house and want breakfast, Cracker Barrel is the place to be. The pigs even know about it, and they usually sacrifice their lives to be eaten. Thank you, pigs! .... and people who kill them!

Breakfast for 8 people $65 Had breakfast with family before the flight home. We don't have a Cracker Barrel in California so this was my chance to see what I've been missing out on. It's a nice "country" style restaurant with an attached general store. The store is packed with all kinds of goodies, trinkets, collectibles, and seasonal wares. yelp.com/user_local_phot… yelp.com/user_local_phot… yelp.com/user_local_phot… There's cool looking rocking chairs and wooden benches along the outside patio as well. yelp.com/user_local_phot… The restaurant is decorated with vintage farm equipment, old porcelain product signs, and other country motif items. All looking great. It was near the time church gets out so the place was getting busy. Our server, Emilee, had our large group of eight and the other patrons in her area to handle. She did a fantastic job and was always cordial. Fast with our requests during breakfast and not one thing forgotten or mishandled. Well done, Emilee. If your not in California, check if there's a Cracker Barrel in town and try them out. Decent restaurant food at a very good price.

The hubby and I wanted to have an old school breakfast to celebrate his birthday and a joint day off! We usually have decent experiences but not this time. The waitress was kind but seemed agitated when I asked her to bring a new cup of coffee as it tasted pretty bad. Our food was awful, just awful. The French toast tasted as if it had some chemical in it and the gravy was not consumable and probably should have been kept away from open flames. We ate what we could since we had plans. While paying, the cashier asked how was the meal and we told her of our disappointment. She asked if we could speak to the manager and I was hesitant, I don't know why. Usually, I'm all for it. When he came out, I told him and he didn't even look at me. He was looking at the receipt. I told him I paid for the meal and wasn't looking for a discount or free meal. I just think he should know about the food coming out. He just said ok. That is it. I walked out. Unfortunately, I will stick to other locations as I know this isn't the norm for this chain.

We ate breakfast here...arrived early so it was not busy at all. Both our plates were cold. Watery grits and the hash brows had ice crystals in the center. Our waitress was very sweet and obviously embarrassed. The manager came over to apologize. I think they need new cooks. I've never sent food back. Today was a first.

Normally Cracker Barrel can be expected to deliver a quick meal that while not gourmet quality but pretty good. I normally like the breakfast menu which can be counted on to be prompt and southern at its core. I'm sorry to say that my most recent visit to the Gallatin location was substantially below standard. Our dinner (breakfast) meal ( pancakes for my wife and The Uncle Hershal's breakfast for me) took almost 20 minutes to arrive and several requests to our waitress finally got my correct number of eggs (two not one), syrup for the pancakes, and butter and jelly for the biscuits. The waitress who brought the food was friendly but the long wait had me a bit grumpy. I don't think it was her fault but unfortunately she was the face of the service not the kitchen staff who were more than likely the problem. I will admit that these folks are probably suffering due to the high standards that Cracker Barrel has established with me. I will probably stay with the Hendersonville location as they have spoiled me with their superior service.

This place garners quite a following. It's has is own unique charm in the menu and the little shops attached. I am not a huge fan of the food, but it is always an option when you are on a road trip for food. They have audio books that you can rent and turn in at any other carcker barrel. I love this. It's great for people on the road.

What was my favorite Crackerbarrel has gone downhill the last few times I've been there. Pancakes had a tough dark crust that was hard to cut through. They were careful to put the burned side on the bottom. The bacon was overcooked. You touch it and it crumbles into a hundred pieces. Come on!
