Just tried this place as it is new. They opened inside a previous Chinese place so the interior is a bit mismatched for southern eats. However, the food was delicious and service was great. Had the shrimp poboy and could only eat half. My wife, the cheesesteak. Wow it was good too.

The food was really good. I had a fish sandwich. One sandwich was enough for two people. The atmosphere was odd. It was an old Chinese restaurant. Everything has been left the same. Chinese art, pond, buffet, and bamboo plants. They could have made a little effort to make it their own. Take down the art, paint, drain the pond, throw away the dead bamboo plants. The servers were extremely polite but this place is forgettable.

Yes, the building is still the original setup of the Chinese buffet, but it is a comfortable atmosphere. Walked and we were seated almost immediately and even had a choice in where to sit, drink order was taken immediately, and we had them in less than a minute. The menu is a typical "southern" diner style menu with almost everything fried. We ordered the fish plate and chicken tender plate w/fried green tomatoes to boot. The appetizer was out extremely quick and hot off the pan. The entrees followed quickly. The food was typical of the style of restaurant. It's not heavy seasoned as expected by a lot of the people in Memphis, but it was good. The portions are more than worth the trip. A 6pc chicken strip came with 8 strips and a 3x3x3 chicken, fish, shrimp can with 4 long fish filets, 4 shrimp, and 5 strips.. Hush puppies to boot. Highly recommend this place if you just want an easy dinner with a quiet location! Extremely great value!

Wow! I'm visiting from Arizona, and was craving some gulf coast style Oysters and Shrimp, I got a combo order, it was great. Really took me back to my days in Biloxi. The order was big enough to split. In this case, I've got left-overs for tomorrow. The oysters and shrimp were cooked perfectly. Oysters were creamy inside the breading, and the shrimp were huge (remember, I'm from AZ). The food isn't overly seasoned, but for me that's a good thing. You can always add seasoning, but you can't take it off, and I find the food in Memphis is usually over seasoned (too much salt). I bet you could make a fortune selling blood pressure machines. The service staff were great, really friendly and helpful. The couple of minor negatives, they were out of fried okra and cole slaw. That should be against the law. As some one mentioned the place was a Chinese buffet in it's previous life, and doesn't really sing Gulf Coast or Southern food place. All in all, I recommend it highly. Show up people, it's a keeper.

It was strange walking into this former Chinese restaurant to get southern food. It still smells a bit like a Chinese buffet and the decor is still that of a Chinese restaurant. I got wings, fries and macncheese. The wings are huge whole wings, which is great. However everything was pretty much flavorless, a lack of seasoning. I had to cover everything in hot sauce, pepper and ketchup to eat. But the service was great and staff was very friendly and accommodating.
