I visited in the early evening on Cinco-de-Mayo. Knowing it would be extremely busy, my expectations were lowered. I should not have done so. They were fantastic. They had a special: buy one Dos Equis and get one free. The wait staff were very approachable even though they were slammed. My party had approximately 15 people in it and we were very well taken care of. The place was very clean and the food was brought out quickly and hot! Recommend: Fajita Nachos with your favorite beer!

Service is impeccable and the food is truly outstanding. I try to order something different every time and I've never been dissappointed. I love the fajita quesadillas and the tamales. And if you want to try out your español, they are more than happy to indulge you. La comida es muy bueña y deliciosa!

I came along this place on a recent business trip and was glad we stopped in. The service was fantastic and the food was pretty darn good. The white queso appetizer got the meal off to a great start and the main course was muy bueno.

After reading recent reviews I had high hopes of a great experience. Upon arrival at the bar I was informed that the bartender was out sick my bartender would instead be one of the waitresses. She couldn't differentiate the tequilas behind the bar and couldn't make a margarita. After flagging down another waitress who COULD make one I was offered chips and salsa and a menu. The fajitas were the high-light of the meal but he sides were a bit stale and looked like they had sat for a few minuted under the warmer....not good for sour cream and guacamole. I would say I just experienced the place on an off night but it was dirty and poorly managed...no host or manager in sight anywhere. My final complaint is the TV in the bar had CNN on..not necessarily the optimal choice while basketball playoffs are on 3 channels.

Yum, freaking yum, best salsa in all the land. Love the roomy booths. How could anyone complain about a comfy and roomy booth? That is not even sane. Oh, yeah, I much prefer the kind that is cutting off my circulation mid abdomen. This place has great food, never had a bad meal here. Cheese enchiladas are excellent! Highly recommended. My favorite Mexican restaurant in town. All locations are great.

It's Tex-Mex with large menu. The lunch specials are pretty good. The fresh chip and salsa came quickly to our table after we sat down. Food was quick. Taste was ok. There are many Tex-Mex places in Memphis that make tastier food with better pricing. Overall, I was satisfied with the service. Waitress stopped by and asked how we were doing and plenty refill for our drinks.

I really loved the fresh salsa and rice and beans. However, I was very disappointed with my carne asada tacos. Being from LA, it's hard to find good Mexican food east of the Mississippi River. I was happy to learn that they actually use corn tortillas, unlike some restaurants that use flour (flour tortillas are too thick and don't allow you to taste the meat like you should). However, the meat was left in long strips instead of being chopped up, so I really had to bite hard otherwise I'd have a long strip of meat hanging out of my mouth. The meat was also very bland and needed a sauce to go with it. Great carne asada tacos are the type that taste great without adding any extras. The service was great and the prices weren't too bad so I'll be back to try other dishes.

I was torn between 3 stars and 4 stars. The reason being is that I am a fan of true Mexican food, not the standard tex-mex fare that most people settle for. Having said that, the service was excellent! The wait staff was working extremely fast to satisfy their customers. The complimentary chips were thin, crispy and quite satisfying. The salsa was better than most with fresh onions and cilantro a nice touch. I ordered the Mexican plate which consisted of a taco, enchilada, tamale and chile relleno, rice and beans. Everything was hot and tasted fresh. Did I mention the 2 for 1 beers (between 4 and 8 I believe). I ordered a Dos Equis amber and it (they) were served in frosty chilled mugs. This may not be the best (when compared to truly authentic), but it is definitely better than most.

Quick service, friendly staff, excellent sweet tea and white cheese dip, great chips. Their prices are a little higher than other tex-mex places but the food is incredibly delicious. My personal favorite? Burritos de Pollo y Carne.

Pretty decent.. I'd give it 3.5 stars but the Enchiladas Mexicana were the first thing I've had around here with any bite to it. If you have some people with you, try the Queso Fundido....unlike a lot of places they drain the chorizo well so it doesn't make the cheese greasy.

The salsa was fresh but heavy onion tasting. I ordered the chimichanga de pollo. The salad on the side was just diced tomatoes and lettuce. The rice and beans were classic like everyones. The chimichanga had an orange and white cheese on it that differed from the usual white cheese dipping sauce that's poured over the top. There was also a filler cheese inside the chimichanga. The waiter we happened to get wasn't very friendly. He wasn't mean but just going through the motions. It was an okay experience but not one that will make me come back vs. a Mexican restaurant that's closer to my house.

This is the most confusing restaurant I have ever been to. We stood there for about 2 minutes waiting on someone to acknowledge we walked in. Then after flagging down someone, the man apologized heavily. Then he proceeds to tell us we needed to look at all the lazy, worthless workers who were sitting around on their phones and doing nothing. He made us look and sure enough, there were 2 tables filled with workers playing around. Pretty sad. Should have turned around then. We end up being waited on by a nice young lady. She gets our orders quickly. The one redeeming feature of this place: the frozen mango margarita!!! It is SO delicious! I don't normally like frozen drinks as much but this one I would endure all the nonsense for. Maybe because it had a ridiculous amount of tequila. Made the mood lighter for sure. The burritos fritos were the weirdest combination of horrible, flavorless meat and sauce I can imagine. The sauce on one was a cream cheese sauce and the other was like fake nacho cheese dip. Ew. The rice was horrendous as well.

This location is in an excellent spot in the heart of Cordova. Restaurant building itself, is ageing but it still looks good the interior was clean. The restaurant has a lot of flavor and character. greeted by the host at the front door. Ordered vegetarian dish and chicken chimichangas, salsa and chips. The service do check often and make sure you are satisfied. this restaurant gets high ratings from lunch and its recommended to everyone.

This is a really great Mexican restaurant. I'm on a road trip across the United States and I'm from California, this is by far one of the best Mexican restaurants I've ever been to. It's real food!!!! I definitely recommend this place!!

This place is amazing. Walking in, I'm struck first by the sounds of people laughing, plates clattering, and music I could only describe as the soundtrack to a Tarantino western, but in Spanish. Then there's the smell: it takes me back to being a kid, visiting my Mexican grandmother in El Paso and helping her cook. On the subject of grandmothers, the restaurant was decorated with things found in her attic. There are about a billion vases with fake or dried flowers littered about, and a great hodgepodge of prints and posters on the wall; but somehow it's not kitschy. The booths are a bit old, and so is the rest of the place; but that adds to the charm and makes it feel authentic. Service was great, our waiter was a sparkly eyed man with a seemingly endless supply of smiles and witty retorts. Now for the food: exquisite. The chips are light and crunchy, the salsa better than any I've had in Memphis. My friend had the chicken chimichanga, which was huge and accompanied by phenomenal refried beans. They, like the rest of the food, were perfectly seasoned: flavorful but not overpowering. My dinner was the giant burrito full of beef shrimp, chicken, and oh my God is that chorizo?!? Anyway, those things are joined by wonderful strips of onion and hunks of green bell pepper and swimming in a tantalizing (but not thick or overly cheesy) cheese sauce that seems to be nothing less than the very ideal essence of cheese sauce made material. This thing was larger than my head, but I couldn't stop eating until it was gone. Do yourself a favor and visit this amazing gem.

Tortilla chips and salsa...amazing! Sangrias and margaritas...great! My absolute favorite dish is Chicken Adobe...yum. Everyone is so friendly. This is one of my favorite restaurants in the Memphis area.

Love the warm tortilla chips! We always get the rice del mar (shrimp, chicken, and beef over rice), which is a huge, delicious portion, or the steak burrito. The kids meals aren't that great, and margaritas are not the best. Overall food is great!

I love this place. My husband and I are regulars here. I like the home cooking quality of the food. The chips and salsa are amazing. We often order guacamole or queso dip with pico de gallo mixed in. The portion sizes are great, prices are low. It has a great atmosphere. Love, love, love it!

Good food, but wait staff was extremely stretched. Waitress had great personality and was extremely friendly. However, apparently the place needs to figure out how to staff appropriately. Sara, our waitress, was a doll.

Service is friendly and fast. I always order the Mexican lasagna; a bowl with layers of cheese, chicken, tortillas and green chile. It is great!

This was a good enough choice for dinner. I went with two others. The margaritas had a strange green tint to them. I of course went for the Fireball Margarita, which made me want to go jam out to some tunes... but I digress. I ordered the beef chimichanga. It was tasty. Nothing amazing. but not bad.

This our favorite Mexican place. Best chips and Salsa around. The Arroz Pollo is unreal, and the grilled vegetables are great

I don't know why, but the waitress was completely inappropriate and said what I ordered, chicken, cheese, and rice, was called "the white man's meal" in the kitchen because "white men can't handle spicy food". I was taken back by her words but told her that I do like spicy food. So then, when I ordered a margarita, she told me it would be cheaper if I get a pitcher and split it with the friends I was with... We were fine with that but didn't realize that we would want to leave after she continued to talk about inappropriate subjects like that she had a margarita in the back, she was 'bitched' at by her coworkers, made fun of her fellow employees, and was just awkward. I don't be back. EVER. There are dozens of Mexican restaurants just around the corner that I can spend my money at.

Awesome chicken mole! Good rice and beans with actual flavor! Best Mexican food I've had since moving from California to Memphis. Food tasted fresh and not over cooked. I liked that there were plenty of items to choose from without "queso" (which here means nasty white cheesy sauce poured on everything-- sorry Memphis, this Mexican girl doesn't get the fascination.) Good chips with decent tomato based salsa. The server was slow with drink refills and seemed overwhelmed, but he said it was his first week, so we cut him some slack. Salsa music was playing through the speakers, which always puts me in a good mood. I loved the food and would definitely go back. I plan to check out the other locations as well since I found out there's one closer to downtown.

Decent chips and salsa. I was disappointed they don't offer table side gauc. I ordered the chili relleno and tortilla soup. They were both pretty good and the portion size was large. The rice was dry and not very good. I also ordered the flan for dessert. Not bad. I had that disgusting full feeling upon leaving. I can't tell if that's good or bad.

Very tasty, I got the Enchiladas Supremes. The food order was taken quickly and served very fast. Will definitely be back when I am in the area.

There is always a seat here and they are always ready with warm chips and salsa. They regularly (maybe always?) have two for one margaritas. I like the chicken fajitas salad which has plenty of lettuce and adds jalapeños to the mix. If not that, I do the chicken burritos fritos. Food is always fast, fresh and delish. What's not to love?

I didn't like this place at all. I heard so many good things but was very disappointed. One of the worst Mexican restraunts I've been too. Service was not prompt, my server acted like he couldn't understand me. Servers skipped my table and didn't check on us multiple times. The guy who was supposed to be our sever just stared...like wth. Salsa was too tomatoey and chips were thin. They were limited on the amount of sides with the fajitas they gave and the chicken was gross, however the food was hot. And to top it off, they don't follow child labor laws!! They had a 11-12 year old girl working tables. Also, when I left there were 3 associates at the door and no said gracias or thank you or anything. We will NOT be back and I do NOT recommend! Everyone should try Los Pilares in Bartlett on stage road. I haven't been to a restraunt that tops them

I didn't like this place at all. It felt dirty to me. I was greeted immediately. The cheese dipping was good and hot but the chips we're very thin. I ordered the chicken chimichangas it was not what I expected the wrap was soggy and bland. The rice was cold and sticky. I will not dine there again.

The place is dirty, no management in sight, the roof was leaking! Good people working there but not enough and un coordinated. If I was this desperate to eat Mexican food I would be better served risking my life by eating authentic Mexican in Juarez! Needless to say I did not eat there.

One of my favorite Mexican places in Memphis!!! I love the salsa!! The fajitas are good as well as the quesadillas! Atmosphere is fun and the drinks are delectable !

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
