I love Olive Garden, however this restaurants isn't the best. The past few times we have gone the serves has been horrible. I always get the soap and salad, everytime they seem to bring the soap and salad at the same time. You don't have enough time to eat your salad without your soup getting cold. The last time we went they set us next to the kitchen and we got to see first hand to see all the waiters standing around on their cell phones. Our waitress, stood around on her phone the whole time. She did not return to our table to check to see if we needed refills on anything. Everytime I looked over she was standing there on her phone. Once we finished our meal we had to wait for 30 min before she would even bring us our check. I tired to get her attention and she just ignored us. At some point someone dropped dishes in the kitchen and they all broke, all you could hear was G** D***. As for as the food, the soup and salad are good. The other things we have tired, do not have much of a taste. So, we do not visit much, unless I am wanting the soup.

Ate here tonight with a huge party and our waitress was on top of everything. The service is always great when I come in and the staff is friendly. Our food was amazing and they kept the salad and breadsticks coming.

Yuck. Not impressed. The pasta was really overcooked and the sauce lacked any real flavor. The breadsticks were just..bread; no garlic, no butter, no anything. If I want plain bread, I can buy it at the store. The salad was plain and the dressing was very bland. There has got to be better Italian food in Clarksville than this? I guess I have to go to Nashville to get any real Italian. The woman serving us was rude, impatient and acted like there was anywhere else in the world she'd rather be. I politely suggested that she run over to the emergency room to have the large stick removed out of her ass...I suppose that was a bit offensive? When you walk in the restaurant, there is a FOUL odor; I don't know what it is..if it's backed up sewer or what but it's so bad that you almost don't want to go in. The owners need to work on that. Probably won't be back.

This is the only Olive Garden I've been to and I have to say, they probably ruined the entire chain for me. I got the Fettuccine Alfredo as I usually do in an Italian place; this was the worst I have ever had anywhere. I was there with my lady and I told her "yours is way better than this". While home cooking can be great, the fact that I was straight thinking that while at a restaurant cannot be a good thing. It was basically a big pile of noodles and cream goop. The environment is good but what does that matter if the food is far below acceptable?

Whoah, whoah, whoah, whoah, whoah.... whoah. Why all the hate? I have no idea where all this negativity is coming from. Olive Garden is typically the butt of the culinary joke, but the truth is, it's not that dang bad. I worked at this Olive Garden for pushing three years, and I'll tell you to your face it's a clean, well run establishment. I've watched the prep cooks in the back making the sauces and soups from scratch every morning. I've seen them use the San Marizano tomatoes, the Colavita Olive Oil. I've seen this clean kitchen hundreds of times and I would NEVER hesitate to eat there. So maybe the marinara isn't like your 9th generation Sicilian grandmother used to make, maybe the pasta isn't always al dente, but even when I had a strung out server trainee taking care of us (true story) the experience was still a positive one. Do you really need a rundown on how the food tastes? It's the same whether you're in San Francisco or Boston or Clarksville. It's good. In fact, there are quite a few items on the menu that make my eyes roll back in my head and sigh in satisfaction. Get the Stuffed Chicken Marsala, it does that. Someone griped about the house wine. Okay, I'll give you that. The house wine sucks. If only they had 40 other kinds of wi----- oh, they totally have 40 other kinds of wine. The bar staff there averages 5 years on the job. They're good. Is there a long wait? Yes! It's the only freaking Italian restaurant in a town of 120,000 (and the next town to the north of 40,000 doesn't have one, either). So if you're a brain surgeon and go to Olive Garden at 7pm on a Friday night, guess what, Skippy? You're going to be here a loooong time. Go on a Tuesday night. Slowest service night in the whole industry. So there are a lot of 1 star reviews here. Ignore those. You should also ignore all the 5 star reviews of anything in Clarksville. We don't have a serious 4 star joint in this town, but we've got some solid 3-3.5s, I give our O.G. a 3.5, which on Yelp translates to 4 stars.

Being part Italian, I have a genetic disposition to despise The Olive Garden. Compared to other Italian restaurants... advantage... other Italian restaurants. Here in Clarksville however... advantage.. Olive Garden. This Olive Garden specifically seems a bit run down in comparison to previous experiences in different cities. However.. hosting staff, friendly, funny and prone to BS with me as I ruthlessly hit them with rapid fire interrogation style questions of their establishment. Secondly, I was there on a weekday evening, and the service was awesome. Our waiter was attentive and observant as to not interrupt conversation with timed visits. He was also HILARIOUS and put up with my typical hi jinks and fun I have with service oriented personnel firing funny commentary back at me as fast as I could give it. Result: well played sir, huge tip. The food: well, I typically go to Olive Garden for one thing, all you can eat soup and salad. The zuppa toscana is particularly mind blowing with russet potatoes and flavorful spicy sausage. I followed that up with the chicken and gnocchi which had a delicious, smooth and creamy broth with chicken and warm, soft dumplings. The salad was solid as always and combined with a couple of glasses of the 7 daughters wine and my night was complete.. Any place that can invoke these qualities of pleasure from me when so clearly at a genetic disadvantage is good in my book. Oh, and I hadn't noticed any of the aforementioned flatulence incidents.. however maybe they didn't seat us in that section..

Good food and good portions. Soups were great also. Chicken Sorento and Lasagna/Stuffed Rigatoni were our entrees and we would order again. No room for desert. We will definitely come back

As usual they gave me the perfect service, like every time I go in any Olive Garden. The server was very friendly and made sure that I had everything I need. He introduced me to "Roscato." Its a smooth wine and I love it. I'm a fan of Moscato but I will say I like Roscato now.. If your a wine lover its worth a try, it was less than a dollar. I had my delicious Calamari and stuffed mushroom, my linguini and all time fave lasagna shrimp. I can't say no to it and plus the olive garden breadstick is a must! Have fun and enjoy.

Olive Garden has gone down hill. Just ordered take-out for Mother's Day and my daughter cut her mouth on this sharp piece of what appears to be from a broken dish (must've happened while they were preparing the food). She bit into the ravioli and this piece was in it. Luckily she bit into it and spit it out.

I usually love Olive Garden, but this place really had a very strong, foul smell just walking in that I couldn't even focus on the food, like a mix of serious foot odor, dirty mops, and expired cheese. We actually had to leave from thinking it could be coming from the food. I thought maybe we went on an off night, ate there again 2 weeks later and the smell hadn't gone away and we ended up leaving early yet again! I wouldn't recommend going to this particular Olive Garden.

Usually I love Olive Garden but this place was crap. Granted it was a Saturday night so it was busy, but my husband had to send his steak back twice first it was so overcooked it was like leather, then almost raw. My tour of Italy was freaking tiny, even the salad dressing tasted watered down. Then when we got the bill they tried charging us twice for the steak. I gave it an extra star because the waiter genuinely tried and was very apologetic but still we won't be back.

  • Bryan R.

Let me start off by saying they have the strongest and the best Long Island ice teas. I tried the tour of Italy which was pretty damn good! Everything was on point and the service was very good. I can't complain about anything this evening. Everything was great!

I know it's strange to start a review with a comment on take-out containers but.... they do provide awesome "to go" stuff. Obviously after breadsticks and lots of salad, the entree is not gonna find much room left so why not concentrate on making tomorrow's lunch awesome!. We made the mistake of ordering an appetizer too. Whew, way too much food. The food deserves a four rating but as I observed the staff. they didn't work as much like a team as I would expect from this type restaurant.

Not the Olive Garden it used to be. You used to take your date out for a fancy meal at Olive Garden back in the day, now it's just not the case. Bad service and overcharging for mediocre food is what to expect now. The breadsticks used to be awesome, now they taste like something I could buy from the frozen food isle of Walmart. Drinks- retarded expensive for less than 12 oz. Salad- hardly any dressing, plus they charged my wife and I extra for a second salad?!? After we bought $40 in drinks?!? What do you think we were getting over on them?! When you try to nit pick and charge for every little thing, it just gets ridiculous. No wonder Olive Garden is going out of business

Walked in the foyer and it smelled like dirty urine soaked carpet. When I asked the hostess about the smell she tried to say it was the cheeses in the kitchen. I asked if the carpet ever gets clean and they said it's cleaned once a month. It must have been day 29 because the whole restaurant smelled musky and of urine. We went in to order the shrimp caprese and it was no longer on the menu. My wife ordered the lasagna and it tasted off; this is a dish she ordered before and this time it was terrible. I wanted to order one if their new flavored teas and was told the each refill is charged even though the menu states complimentary refills on fountain drinks, water, and TEAS!!! The specialty tea is still a tea. We will never step foot in there again.

My husband & I decided to go to the Olive Garden for lunch since it had been a long time since we ate at one. The moment we entered the restaurant we were slapped in the face with a putrid smell. One would think when entering a restaurant a person would be bombarded with the delicious, enticing aromas of food, well not here. It smelled like a dirty mop or dirty dish rags, whatever it was, it did not smell good. Fortunately, like most smells, after a few minutes we got used to it and didn't notice it anymore. The restaurant was empty so there was no wait and we were seated right away. However, the moment we sat down and picked up our menus the waitress asked us if we were ready to order. Now, unless we had memorized the menu or knew it by heart there was no way the minute our hands touched the menu, and our butts the seats, we would know what we wanted, so we asked for a few minutes to decide. She then asked if we wanted an appetizer, again we had no idea what appetizer choices there were so we said no. She took our drink order, I asked for lemonade, she said they only had "raspberry" and so I asked for Sprite, my husband requested Pepsi. (I don't know how they can have flavored lemonade without original, isn't one made from the other?) She came back quickly and once again asked if we were ready to order. We were not, since maybe five minutes had passed since we sat down and we still hadn't had a chance to peruse the menu thoroughly. The moment we were ready, she was there -I guess that's a good thing- we gave our order and off she went. She came back quickly (I'm beginning to think she's related to the Flash) with our salad and two breadsticks. For a while we were blessedly left alone, she came by to ask if we wanted more breadsticks and since she had only brought two we said yes. She told us to leave room for dessert because they had this "amazing" Apple Tuscan Bread pudding we just HAD to try. She then left to bring us another two breadsticks and went on her way. Our lunch arrived rather quickly, which is a good thing. I ordered the chicken Alfredo and my husband ordered the grilled chicken flatbread from the lunch menu. It was funny because we had literally just begun to eat, my husband had just placed food in his mouth and he had cheese hanging from his mouth to the plate when our waitress came by to ask us how the food was. Really?! We haven't had a chance to chew it much less swallow it so how do we know?? But since she stood there expecting a response and my husband was currently losing a battle to the cheese I told her "it's good, thank you." Satisfied, she finally strolled away reminding us to "leave room for dessert." She was really pushing that on us. My husband finished his lunch before me, as he always does, and when she came by to grab his plate she asked him if he was ready for that dessert and he told her that he was full. She looked at me still eating my bland, tasteless, pasta and told me to save room for the Apple Tuscan Bread pudding because "it's soooo good." I simply smiled and she walked away. I told my husband I had no intention of getting dessert because I was full. Besides, the food we had was not tasteful enough to encourage us to try more of their mediocre fare. I didn't know why she was pushing the bread pudding so hard anyway. Even if I wasn't full I'm not a big bread pudding fan, nor is my husband. As I was STILL eating -our impatient- waitress brought the bill and she told us "not to worry we could still order dessert to go and she can add it to the bill." -.- Overall, the food was disappointing ( I could have done better at home). I had been craving Italian food and we picked the wrong restaurant to satiate that craving.

Was always one of My Daughter's and my favorite place to go to eat. My 3 year old grand daughter always LOVED the bread sticks. Will always love the Olive Garden. We have never had a bad experience at this place. I think Cheddar's across the street and this place are my favorite's.

I visited this location while out of town. Olive Garden isn't my favorite Italian restaurant but generally the food is consistent and I come back from time to time for an inexpensive Italian dinner. The location was convenient, we didn't wait very long to be seated. Our waiter was Jonathan, who was very pleasant. Although they were not very busy, it took a little long to get our orders put in and to get the food to our tables...mind you, we were seated next to the kitchen. Entrees: my friend ordered the shrimp and broccoli Alfredo and I had the eggplant parmigiana. Both dishes were good.

It was good for awhile, then had a really bad experience when we walked in and got very ill from the smell. We thought it would get better once we were away from the restrooms, but we're still smelling once seated. We left without ordering and haven't been back since. It's a shame too because they have the best salad in town.

Great service, but the food wasn't good at all. I ordered a calazone thinking it was going to fill me up, it was the size of a hot pocket for nearly $10. When I got to the middle it was cold. We won't be going back

Olive Garden is a chain restaurant this being said, usually most of them are similar from location to location. I was skeptical after all the negative reviews of this place, My wife and I recently went to OG for her birthday, overall our meal was good and the service was great. Food: Same food at each location, cant beat endless salad and breadsticks. Food is kinda boring, not real italian but again what can you expect from a chain italian place. Service: Service is great, our server generally cared about our dining experience and our food, he was polite and professional and checked on us multiple times throughout the night. Atmosphere: Crowded! This place is swarmed with people on Fridays and Saturdays, best to go during the week. The dining area is so-so, not the cleanest place but decent. I would imagine that on a friday night the service might be degraded because of the large amount of people dining. Overall I like this place more for the environment then the food, the endless breadsticks and salad, the jug of wine and the company. It is not my first choice but I wouldn't argue with guests if they wanted to go there.

Bad service with mediocre food and hostess! Save your time and money and choose someplace else. Glad there are more places to go now.

As this is a chain restaurant, I wasn't expecting too much when I stopped here for dinner, but wow, I was blown away with the pasta! It was really good, and that's saying a lot, coming from me, as I've had the real deal when I was in Italy. I do think that their prices are a bit high, though.

Great service... That's where it stops. Everything is dirty, the seat backs are discolored and sticky, the carpet smells and looks blotched by stains. The entire restaurant smells musty and stuffy. It's loud, babies are screaming and the good people of Clarksville are enjoying this "fine dining" experience with joyous laughter and conversation so loud that it takes away even more from the overall experience of eating frozen/heated/fried/seared bad food. Skip this place unless you just really don't know any better.... If you've never eaten in anything but military town restaurants or hamburger helper this might satisfy you.

    (1)
  • Sean P.

3.5 if I could have - one of the better experiences from a chain restaurant in a small town - service was a 5, drinks (pomegranate martini) & appetizer (potato soup) a 4 and main (herb chicken) a 3 (only because there was too much pasta). Fairly loud and busy, but it was the day after payday in a military town! Think you'd have to pretty naive to think you're getting old-world Italian food from a chain restaurant...you don't go to Taco Bell for authentic Mexican food do you?

    (3)
  • Yari A.

Not even worth a half of star let alone a whole one!!! My male friend and i decided on pasta for dinner at the last minute and went to Olive Garden. We didn't even sit before we asked to speak with the manager to let him know that his establishment smelled horrible and was absolutely dirty. It smelled like an old sour mop. We left without eating and ended up at Outback, which was great!!!

Ugh. So, we end up here a lot. Not because it's amazing, but because it's there. Olive Garden gets exponentially worse every time. Sometimes it's the food, or the staff, or particularly gross diners. But here we eat. Why is there no Italian competition to this place in Clarksville? Let me tell you some things... First, the marinara is both not good whatsoever, and there is never enough of it. Please, Olive Garden, be less stingy and also better in this staple of Italian food. This is not your home dining room. Please, don't let your kids, adorable as they are, throw their shoes on the floor and stamp their feet on the table while you chew like a beat-down zombie. If you're a grown woman, please don't bring your loud, non-stop flatulence to Olive Garden while others are trying to have a quiet dinner. Also, avoid standing up and farting directly into the face of the poor woman behind you. Today's service was meh. Our waiter was forgetful, and the soup was a little on the cold side. He was apologetic for being zoned out, but I shouldn't have to deal with it. The waiter for another table brought a 3 year old boy a drink in a sippy cup. His mother said, "This is Coke." "Yeah....I thought that's what you wanted for him." "I wanted milk." "Oh. So you don't want it?" "No. Milk." ... Why does the entry way smell like a sewer? This is a new thing. So, where does this leave us? Well, sitting up at the bar isn't too bad. At least you can drink through the mediocrity.

Im giving my review 4 stars.... Reason: the food is always delicious. Service some times is hit or miss, but I love the chicken parm and the salad!

The only thing they have going for them is the desert and the salad. Everything else was dismal, and boring. Our waitress was rude and definitely seemed as if there was somewhere else she would rather be. Would possibly go back for the $7 soup salad and bread stick special, but never dinner.

Went here the other night with family and had an enjoyable experience. Typical Olive Garden here, been here before and will go again. We were seated quickly and our server arrived promptly. Service was OK to Good, I give the waitress credit, she had several large tables who all arrived at once and she did fairly well with it...with little to no help. Looked like they were a bit short of servers this night, my only complaint was she couldn't get back to everyone fast enough but then again with only two sets of hands there is only so much on person can do. She just kept us stocked with breadstix., smiled and was very friendly too. Food was very good as expected. We had a variety from the menu from the featured specials to soup and salad and all were great! Looking forward to going back again!

This place was pretty sad. It looked, smelled, and felt like a nursing home. Overbearing smell of urine, was only tolerable for long enough to sit down and discuss where else to go. The prices on the menu were surprisingly high. It was like I was at macaroni grill or carrabbas price-wise. $15 chicken alfredo, pretty crazy... Overall bad experience. Won't be back.

I am employed by a different Olive Garden. I'd hate to work at this one. It is just flat out awful. I don't know where the quality manager is on this one, but they need to stop over looking it.

The service is great a nice place to go for a great lunch. I usually order the soup and salad. I find the Tuscany soup very good. The place is clean and the servers are pleasant.

Ok, why do I keep trying and trying and trying to give this place a chance?! The last three times that I have gone with varying amounts of people (never over five) I have been the victim of incredibly horrible service. As a former server, I am usually a little more patient about time management and forgetfulness however I have a little less patience for a lack of table-clearing and manners. One experience story is of my friend and I going one night around five on a Monday. It was slow and we were seated quickly and when looking around the dining area was pretty sparse. Our waiter showed up with half of our drink order, my friend's drink, which turned out to be wrong and so he grabs the drink off of our table after my friend picked it up and smelled it and told the waiter it was the wrong one, and gives it to another table to drink! They had no idea that my friend has just been served that same drink. Gross. I don't want someone's messed up drink just to save the company a dime or the lazy waiter a few minutes for a fresh replacement. It just got worse from there. Again and again this place makes me wince and vow to never return. Why oh why can't there be another Italian place around here?!!!

  • Sissy D.

Less than average. I had given this place 2 stars, but after my last couple of times there I had to knock it down a star. The food quality has went down, chicken parm was two low end chicken patties that looked like frozen tyson. The cost for this low end food is crazy. If you just have to go..... Stick to soup, salad, and bread sticks.

I have been here a couple of times at my hubby's request. I would have to say this is the only restaurant that consistently makes mistakes with orders. The food is so-so. I would rather make my own at home. Love the salad though.

  • Krys G.

I would only recommend the soup and salad here...the pasta dishes taste horrible - mushy - cardboard. Yuk! Eat the salad here!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
