The Honest Pint Menu

Haven't tried the food or the dreaded non-smoking area, but this is a great place to shoot pool (they charge reasonable rates by the hour and half-hour) and throw back some beers. They make a good Olefashioned, but sometimes you have to ask them for the club soda (I guess they stick to the ultra-traditional one). The 2-story bar is quite attractive, with elegant chandeliers and wood paneling everywhere. I would rate this as one of my favorite Chattanooga bars (along with Chattanooga Billiard Co.), and it only gets 4 stars because I haven't tried the food. I'm usually preoccupied with the booze. Cheers! "It's better to live tonight like there's no tomorrow than to live tonight like there's no money."

I love the environment that the pint provides. The food is delicious and the staff is super friendly. Definitely one of my favorite bars in town.

Visited for the first time last night and will definitely be returning regularly. The setup for live music is great, and the service was excellent. Had the Irish Cheese Dip (served with soda bread) and was in heaven; the tater tots are equally delicious. Cool atmosphere, friendly staff, and reasonable prices.

Went here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. First of all, you have to 21 or older to enter, regardless of the time of day. I assume it because you can smoke so a bar this is. The food was good, not magnificent but good. I finished it off with.....brace yourself......bacon cheesecake! Well the verdict is that it was good, not amazing but good. Sound familiar? Not a bad place but not me, it's more of a hang out.

I really tried going in but as soon as I opened the door It was kinda like a coal miners convention from all the cigarettes. Wish I could've made it in a little further and tried the food.

Great food, service, selection of beverages, & entertainment. Try the tots. Trust me. Pool tables, LIVE music, & a varied crowd occupy this gorgeous historic building. Smoking is allowed--not a problem for me.

The bartender, Tommy, came over asking our names immediately, and we quickly struck up a conversation with him. He really knows the beers which he is offering up! Their Pimento Cheese Fritters are close to as good as it gets. That's right, how do you make cheese better? You deep fry it! Yummm! See more at anappetiteforadventure.w…

Great Beers in Big Glasses. Wonderful atmosphere. The Honest Pint folks did a great job renovating this old building and turning it into something new and fresh. I had an Irish Reuben, and it was probably the most hardy Reuben that I have ever tried. I visited about a month ago, and I am planning on going back soon!

Now that this place is smoke-free they get four stars! The food is still decent, their beer selection is still OK, but I've recently been working my way down their whiskey menu and it's quite awesome. The rapey bathrooms downstairs were recently given a lighting update, too, so they're not quite as scary. Hooray!

There is a point in the night when this place is a four, but sober, in the light of day isn't one of them. I hate to give it a three and not a four, but don't hate it enough to change it. The real issue is the food. The service is great. The music is great. And I love that it is non smoking. BUT the food is just average. Most of it seems to be deep friend out of a bag, even if it isn't. A few bites of food and sauces are good, but not enough to be an overall success. Hate me if you want, but this place is no four.

The honest pint's a cool spot just off of MLK in downtown. Parking isn't free (meter parking from Mon-Saturday 8a-6p) The atmosphere is very pub-like - a 3 floor interior with loads of seating (I've never seen people on the upper levels on my visits) and loads of wood (wooden door ceiling, wooden stairs, etc etc). The establishment is non-smoking, but the wood has done a very good job of soaking up the smoke smell from years prior - so there is a tabaco smell to the place still now. There are a few TVs throughout the place - so you're not going to miss out on sports when here. Service has been nice on my visits - friendly staff and pretty quick. As for the foods - The burgers are good here - nice, juicy - definitely suggest the burger with a fried egg and bacon! Tots are great too - a must as an add-on. As for the wings - for me they were a bit too fatty/grissly, so I probably will try other appetizers next time. Aside from the fat texture of the wings, the actual flavors they use are nice/interesting. Overall - I can't wait to go back, but probably won't be on my "wings places" list.

This is a great place to go for a few drinks, especially during happy hour. They run an Irish happy hour from 4-7, which includes $2.50 Guinness, smithwicks, and magners, as well as $1 off Irish whiskey. The bartenders are great and really know what they are doing. The homemade smoked bitters are awesome.

Went to honest pint with my friend from out of town Saturday nite. The bartender was incredibly rude and unfriendly. Not only was I embarrassed but i heard such great things about this bar. What a disappointment :(. But , when it came time to pay my tab guess who was friendly and sweet all of a sudden? I did tip, but didn't want to. I've been there done that--will not recommend this bar to anyone over the age of 21:(

This is my favorite place in chattanooga. The food is great and the staff is amazing! Yes, it's a smoking bar, but there is a non-smoking section. I wouldn't trade this place for anything in the world.

A friend wanted to go to HP for dinner the other day- he wanted meat, so... that was ok by me. It was waaaay more than ok after we ordered the pimento cheese fritters. Three fritters of lightly fried homemade pimento cheese, served over a drizzle of a couple kinds of sauces (one spicy). Please get these. Just, do. Rich but not overly rich and perfect for a shared app (I wouldn't suggest eating all three yourself, though- then you'd venture into overly rich territory). He got one of the meat plates and it was my first time trying kielbasa. Pretty darn yummy. I forget what the other (three) meats were but he devoured it all. I got their version of a French dip- well seasoned and cooked meat, and tasty sautéed mushrooms (I love) and onions; good bread but a little on the thick side if that bugs you. Got a side of both tots (they might well be from Sysco but potato/potahto, they were perfectly crispy and delicious) as well as green beans. The beans were good and a little garlicky but a bit too oily for me. For the record, this is a big sandwich so especially with two sides this is meant for someone really hungry, sharing, or enjoys leftovers. So I say this - go, eat cheese and meat. Enjoy.

The Honest Pint was your typical smoky neighborhood Irish pub. Nothing overly ornate or fancy - just a bar, a few pool tables, a stage for live entertainment (not in use on our visit), and several patrons throwing back brews, smoking cigarettes or cigars, and noshing on pub grub. The wife and I were drinking snakebites (Yuengling and cider, here) and munching on tater tots with curried ketchup and sriracha mayo. Oh, and buffa-que wings. Like I said, brews and grub. It was good grub. Had I been there for a meal, there were a number of intriguing menu items that would've been calling to me. Perhaps their "This Burger is the Jam Burger" or any of their boxties. While we are non-smokers and are normally put off by smoking, the non-smoking section was just way too disconnected from the rest of the pub and had absolutely no appreciable ambiance to speak of. So we tolerated the smokiness of the main area. I guess that we should've expected that with it being a pub and all.

The Honest Pint is now smoke-free. That's right, it's smoke-free. Now that it's smoke-free, it's one of my favorite places in Chattanooga. The interior is beautiful, yet it still has the rough aesthetic of an Irish pub. The staff is attentive and friendly. They have live music a few nights a week, and they have pub trivia on Sundays. The Honest Pint has a decent beer selection and great pub food. My friend ordered the BELT (Bacon, Egg, Lettuce & Tomato) and I ordered the portobello sandwich. We split the fried pimiento cheese appetizer. Everything was delicious (especially the appetizer). I'm from Philadelphia, where there are ton of Irish pubs. There aren't many Irish pubs in Chattanooga, but Honest Pint makes up for the lack.

I am a fan of the Honest Pint. Love the big space, old building. The bar has lots of cool big round tables. It definitely has the feel of a pub, even down to the narrow stairway that leads to the bathrooms down in the basement. Very pub-like from my experience in England. The food is good. The tots with the different dipping sauces are yum. I've had the corned beef and it was good. This time I got the Herder, like a Shepherd's pie but not. I got it to go so I can't speak for the presentation. The sauce is very rich. Love the mixture of beef and lamb. Could have used more veggies. Just had sauce with meat and mashed potatoes. Not sure if something was missing. The main part of the bar which is 3 stories, is smoking friendly. I will say that as a non-smoker, it's not too bad. I've been in worse smelling places. They do a pretty good job of ventilating the room. There is a small non-smoking section to eat in the back but totally closed off from everything and you just don't get the vibe there. They have a stage and live music often.

  • Amanda D.

I'm sure this is typically a place for drinking more than it is for eating dinner, but I still liked coming here. There being a non-smoking section of it is a nice touch, though it feels pretty disconnected from the rest of the place but what can you do. If you like hoppy beers you are not going to find much on their draft list, but drink something from that anyway, the prices are waaaaaay too good to be concerned about that, haha. I ended up having two bottles of something and I wish I had gone with cider instead. We had their tater tots for an appetizer and two of us ordered them as a side so that we could keep using the dipping sauces. You get ketchup, a sriracha mayo, and a smoked aioli. I was hoping the aioli would be a bit different than what it was, but the sriracha mayo was hands down our favorite. I got the pulled pork boxty. This thing was ridiculous, and I ate it all, and it hurt, but my stomach was so happy. If you've never had a boxty, it's like a potato pancake meets a quesadilla. They are fabulous. The pulled pork boxty has a ton of meat on it, along with a buffalo BBQ sauce, which was awesome, and pimiento cheese. I could have used a bit more cheese, but I am not going to really hold that against them because there was so much pork. And the thing was SO GOOD. I could have also just drank that BBQ sauce. I definitely want to come back here to drink whenever I'm in town long enough for that to be possible. Having a couple beers and having some of their wings sounds like an A+ plan one of these days.

Grab a Guinness & grab a Jameson! Big venue, large open bar, non-smoking, pool tables & a stage. I would definitely come here for St. Patty's day. I enjoyed coming here before heading to JJ's Bohemia for a show.

The food is consistent, and consistently good. The service is consistent, and consistently good. The drinks are consistent, and consistently good. Even when busy it doesn't feel over crowded, plenty to do and the entertainment is top notch. When downtown trying to think of a place to go, this is consistently my top choice.

Looking for a GREAT place to hang out while in town THIS is it!!! Amazing eats, the best bar tending staff in town and a super friendly fun atmosphere. Tommy, Nick and all of the other staff will take care of you like you are a babe in arms! We spent a few days here vacationing and this establishment made me want to stay forever. Thanks to the best ambassadors in the city for showing us the local version of Chattanooga. P.S. Get that damn Journey music off the juke box!! ;-) My faves, Pomme Tots, Bonny Scot and that epic Reuben sandwich!

This is an Irish pub. So you you can get Irish food here of all sorts and other etc. They check you twice for your ID here. Once, as you walk in the door and a second time at your table by your server. Never seen this as much as I eat out. Today, I got pimento cheese fritters along with tater tots. I really enjoyed this. I chose the tater tots because other reviews on yelp. It was served real fancy in a tall dish with 3 different sauces on the outside which were attached to the metal dish and the tots were placed in a cloth. One sauce was a curry ketchup, one was sarachi mayonnaise, and the other was a smoked aioli. All three sauces are house made right here in the restaurant. The pimento cheese fritters, well you get three of them. They are like three fried balls filled with cooked heated pimento cheese.

The Pomme Tots are out of this world good. Like I seriously almost asked for a second order. Even the three sauces (smoked aioli, curried catsup, Sriracha mayo) were fantastic and hella filled with flavor. The Irish American Coffee with top shelf-Velo coffee and Jameson's was so good I had two. Had it with the tots and was extremely satisfied. I was in a group of about 5-6 and the staff was really good with taking care of us and kept us satisfied as a group. Only downside for me, a person with asthma, is that there is smoking allowed indoors and it gets a little overwhelming if every other person is smoking. Other than that it's fantastic. Affordable and a great place to just hang out with your friends and have some good music and good drinks. Oh and hella good tater tots.

  • Shawanda M.

The tater tots alone are worth all the stars in the world: they're fried in duck fat and served with a trio of dipping sauces all of which are sooooo tasty. Honest Pint is usually my place to go either to hear a random band or go late to grab a drink with friends...a Jameson and ginger to be exact. My boyfriend loves their burgers. I loved their chicken curry stew, which I believe they've taken off of the menu and I'm very sad about it. If you can stand all the smoke, Honest Pint is awesome to go chill and drink. They do have a non-smoking section but no one is ever sitting in there. I like that their kitchen is open late and they were open during the time when Chattanooga had a "blizzard" (read: 2 inches of now) and we were able to walk there and grab dinner and drink. lovely.

I've been frequenting this place for a while now. Price point is perfect, portions are great, and pours are potent. All this to say, every newcomer should at least grab a drink here. Although the staff can be hit or miss, it is a great place to meet up with friends or sit at the bar and sip on a whiskey. The Reuben is the best thing on the menu. I won't even say anything else about this. Marcus is a great tender and an even better guy. He always seems to be "happy as a clam" (his words, not mine) Check it out when you're in town. Don't expect a fancy night out. Just a great space for a great drink.....or Reuben.

The cheese dip appetizer (bacon, cheese, spinach and potato) was devine! I could have eaten it with a spoon right out of the bowl. My burger was cooked to order (medium) and the sriracha mayo for my tots was great. I had the Malachi red ale, brewed especially for the restaurant. It was dark, tasty and hit the spot with my burger. They card everyone for entering, but it is a bar so not suitable for kids. The atmosphere is cool with an upstairs seating area that wraps around. We are from Florida and were visiting ruby falls on a pit stop. If ever back in Chattanooga will visit here again!!

    (5)
  • Meg D.

Cool atmosphere - used to be a saloon and on the second level balcony the women would "display their goods" - today the upstairs open floor is for pool/darts. Have to pay but it's not too steep. This place is smokey and you will leave smelling like an ashtray but as long as that doesn't bother you it's a fun place. Bar food is fine - brunch is actually amazing I highly recommend going for brunch. Bands play here on weekends and it's got an Irish feel to it with the green and orange thing going on. Lots of seating .... Great for large groups.

My boyfriend and I stopped in here on our way driving down to Florida and I'm so glad we did! The building itself is worth it because it is so historic and beautiful. Our waiter was super nice, helpful, and knowledgeable. He made some great food/beer recommendations. Everything we had tasted AMAZING! You would be crazy not to stop in here if you can.

My Yelp profile says that I don't give five star reviews, and this is the first time I *almost* thought about going against that 'rule'. The only reason I didn't is because our server was pretty rude. Granted, we walked in about five minutes before last call and stayed until close (as we were trying to finish the food that we ordered) - and that's pretty much the only reason I'm not docking them more than one star for said rudeness. Outside of that, Honest Pint has a decent beer list, cool atmosphere, and awesome food. The Irish Dip and the BLT burgers with tots were especially amazing. Additionally, the fact that they serve actual food until something like 1 or 1:30 AM is unprecedented in such a small city (Waffle House and other similar establishments just don't count, IMO.)

  • Milene I.

Not being a native to these lands, walking in is confusing. No signs, no sense of urgency to assist the new comers. Overall, the difference in bartender personalities is enough to give anyone whiplash. I was too terrified to get a drink for fear id speak my mind. So I got cheesecake. Which was not really cheesecake. I have no idea what I ate but I ran away as soon as I could. End of the story, way to be unwelcoming and awkward

How awesome is this place? I don't smoke, I have never smoked and I hate smoking but I still love this place. I see reviews that mention bad service but I have never seen it. The food is off the hook. Absolutely LOVE the Herders Pie. Just amazing. Great bartenders and great beer list. I kinda like The Honest Pint.

The Irish pub was very fun and great service! our server Jessica who went by Jess was amazing. she was kind courteous and showed great service and a wonderful sense of humor. she kept checking up on us but it never felt intrusive and he always appeared at the perfect time. I had their version of the shepherds pie small with soda bread and it was more than filling. My friend had two Grateful Dead, and she really enjoyed them! the drinks were mixed very well. they had pool tables and I wanted to play but there was a big party going on last night (04/0315) so we didn't get a chance but I am definitely coming back next time I Drive up to Chattanooga! my only complaint was the heat. I don't know if it was because of all the smoking but they have high ceilings and if I could make a suggestion to the bar owner or manager perhaps install some ceiling fans to disperse the smoke and the heat in conjunction to running your ac unit. do that and I'll definitely give you 5 stars next time. and once again thank you Jess for providing such great service and making it a fun atmosphere!

Great bar, with a great selection of beer. (I enjoyed the Rogue). Lots of space for big groups. Pool tables and dart boards for self entertainment. Live band was a plus. Cheese balls were bigger than I expected and the tots were yummy.

On a winter night in Chattanooga, The Honest Pint is the place to throw down. With pool tables, darts, pinball, and three floors of boozie goodness, I can't think of a better place I've been to party in Chat-town. Crown & Gingers for only $5.50! That gives you 50 cents to go use at the pinball machine. There's an excellent selection of draft beer and the bartenders (while somewhat intimidating) know how to make a good cocktail. My tab for the whole night including several rounds of drinks, plus a few shots, was less than $40. Being accustomed to Atlanta prices, I couldn't have been happier with my time at The Honest Pint. Maybe next time, I'll come earlier to try the food. Sully's Nachos and tater tots fried in duck fat sound amazing.

  • Michael M.

They card just for a glass of ice water. The bartender has a lot of attitude. She wanted to get her manager. We watched some guys load their ice cooler with bags of ice. They set them on the floor to cut open, then stick the dirty bag in the cooler to dump the ice. Now all the ice has been contaminated with the crap from the floor. After my friend had his one beer. We left. We will never go here again. 0 stars!!!!!!

This place is a must!! We wandered here for a late night bite. Walking in we were impressed by how big the place was!! Pool tables, a large stage for a band, and balcony's looking over it all. Great beer list, and the food. Oh the food!!! Great menu, and our server Lisa recommend Sullys nachos,( can you say wow) and the burger(double wow). House made corned beef was tender. Everything was well seasoned and tasty. I do not give reviews, but this one deserved it! Food porn for an Irish crowd

The Honest Pint is a place I would have probably made into a regular hangout if I were 15 years younger, was still a smoker, and actually lived in Chattanooga. The food was great, and inexpensive. The location is convenient, with parking. The room is expansive, and with good live entertainment and freely-flowing taps, this is a wonderful place. Even the clientele are attractive. Unfortunately, being an old man who quit smoking, I found myself thinking that the music was too loud, and that it seemed like every table in the pub had at least two or three active smokers on it. Which, if you're a smoker, is fine. But when you're an ex-smoker, is hell. Because nothing beats a good drink and a good smoke; and after a good drink or two or ten, that loud music no matter what it is, is awesome. The building itself is historic. If you're not drunk, or if you're bored or if you're into architecture, you'll notice some very neat things in here. Beer is good, my burger was great, and tater tots deep fried in duck fat are just... amazing. When I returned home, I started doing the same with reserved duck fat from roasting duck. So yes, thank you Honest Pint for teaching me the merits of deep frying and basting in duck fat. It's wonderful. With that said, if you're not a smoker, you'll probably choke and pass out in here so be aware of that. I think every smoker in Chattanooga hangs out here. 4/5

The Honest Pint rocks my world. It takes me back to vacationing in Ireland. Despite popular opinion, I ate very well while touring pubs in the southeast portion of the country, and the same can be said about the Pint. It features very brave culinary delights, and they have been spot on! My favorite sandwich is the spread head, featuring grilled eggplant and onions, with two fantastic spreads. The chocolate bacon cheesecake seemed like a risky choice, but it was amazing. The beer selection is solid. I am not a smoker, so the smokey main dining room, while full of pub charm, can be a little overwhelming. They do offer a smoke free dining room, but it feels void of the ambiance. The service is good in either section. Parking is limited and it is 21 up.

This bar was only a couple of blocks from where my husband and I were staying in Chattanooga, and as we love pubs and pints, this was an obvious stop for us when we found it on Yelp. We had a really nice time here. It was the end of our trip and we were pretty worn down (and had also just done a lot of hiking around town, eaten a big dinner, etc), so this pub with its live music and great beer list was pretty much perfect for us. The band was the perfect volume for us to really enjoy the music while still being able to talk without screaming at each other and the building itself was really cool (see photos). Great service and clean bathrooms. I would certainly be a regular here if I lived in Chattanooga.

One of my favorite places! The food is wonderful....they have my favorite pub food by far!... The service is always fantastic and the building is gorgeous too.. Start with the spread head dip or salmon dip...both are wonderful! Then try their Rueben or their wings ... You won't be sorry!

We were in town for a conference and wanted to visit the local pubs. This one is in a great location and is very nice inside. However, they had a cover charge (maybe I'm not used to that at a pub) and the bar tender was horrible. She was rude right off the bat, then refused to serve us after like 2 drinks. You may be having a bad day, but there's no reason to take it out on the customers.

This was my first place I dined in Chattanooga. One of the best. Good beer selection. Great Irish spirits. Food is New American with a twist of Irish. I had potato pancakes which came with some nice sauces. Non-typical Irish condiments, but very good nonetheless. There was a chipotle mayo, a srirasha chili mayo and another sauce I'm forgetting. Tater tots fried in duck fat. Outstanding. Reuben sandwich is the best I've ever had. Homemade cured corn beef. Rye bread. Amazingly good. And generous portion. One sandwich was enough to split for 2 people. Service was good by the bartender. Nice place. I'll go back.

  • Nancy G.

An amazing place with great atmosphere! Plenty of room to blend with the crowd or take your friends to find a quiet corner. Play darts, people-watch, see a live band. I love the historical details of the building (I was told it used to be a brothel back in the day..)The food is so good that it's something I daydream about! Only drawback is smelling like smoke when you leave - but I can deal with that. It's a bummer that you have to be over 21, because eating at unique places is something our family likes to do together. Try to carpool and have a DD, because you are sure to let loose once you get there!

First sought this place out on a Friday night after seeing reviews here on Yelp and glad I did. I was staying in a hotel a couple of blocks away but would have come a lot further for this place, had I known how great it would be. I was stunned when I walked in and saw the huge interior, which is among the most impressive (yet authentic) pub interior I've ever seen. Adding to my sense of wonder was the abundance of pool tables and dartboards. Meanwhile things got better and better, as my server was great and the food knocked me out. Yes, pub food that knocked me out! I had a "boxty," a traditional Irish pancake folded and stuffed, in this case with sausage and caramelized onions. It was monumentally good! For drinks I had the pub's own draft house ale (a red ale made right in Chattanooga) and then later a Woodchuck. The beer list is long and well organized. (There's also a whisky list.) For dessert I had the bread pudding, which included whiskey and was tremendous. For the kicker, the bill was damn low, compared to what I am used to in Atlanta, where I have a favorite Irish pub just as good as this one. The next day, Saturday afternoon, I wandered over again after having done on a long walk and feeling in need of a cool down and some food. I went in around 1 or 2 when the place was pretty empty, but I got service right away, just as good as before. More people drifted in as I ordered. I had had an amazing breakfast at my hotel (the Stone Fort Inn) nearby so I wasn't ready for another boxty or heavy fare, so I ordered a house salad with sautéed portabello mushrooms, plus a Woodpecker cider. So that was a light lunch but a yummy one. I would say this pub is one anyone can enjoy, including pub snobs and British folks who I'm sure have had their share of American "pubs" being total impostors. As the pub's web site says, it eschews trendy hype, contests, etc. and aims to "reintroduce said olden concept of less unnecessary stimuli and more fun and camaraderie."

Powells + Rogue Dead Guy Ale + Tator Tots fried in duck fat = MMMmmm, Heaven! Visited Chattanooga for the first time on business. Honest Pint was highly recommended by my cabbie and hotel staff. They were right. This was great time for my crew. Great drinks, pool, darts and awesome food. Their rueben is just perfect. They make their own corn beef and it is not quite traditional but amazing. BTW., the location has a lot of history. This was a high-end brothel back in the day and if you are architecture buff, you will really enjoy the small details. Highly recommended.

The staff was super friendly--maybe I'm just not used to it because I'm from up north, but Tommy, Dara, and Sean called me by name all night long and made me feel like I was in the set of Cheers. This is a beautiful space, and I hope to catch a show here while I'm in town. Top notch pub--check it out!

Excellent food in a non-smoking area. Great service. For the south part of downtown, the Honest pint is tough to beat for lunch. You do, however, have to be over 21 to enter...

The Honest Pint is the third location opened by the owners of the Terminal Brewhouse and the Hair of the Dog in Chattanooga. The location is very convenient to downtown but out of the way of the overtly touristy areas. The sign out front advertises an "Irish Kitchen / Pub / Venue", and I guess it has some Irishness about it, but really it's another American take on the Irish theme. All that being said, it is a worthy venue to spend some time! I give it five stars because, well, it IS as good as it gets in Chattanooga. The interior is very airy and spacious, with an extremely high ceiling going up three floors and two huge chandeliers hanging from it. The main bar area is pretty smoky but there is a non smoking area behind closed doors (go up the stairs and you'll see it after the first short flight), so if eating/drinking with cigarette smoke isn't to your liking, they've got you covered. There are many tables around the establishment, so if you don't see something right away head up stairs where you will also find a few pool tables and several dart boards in addition to three pool tables on the ground floor. They have free wireless. Say no more :) OK, maybe there is more to say. The beer selection is pretty decent, with the normal suspects all available on tap. They also have some rather interesting "Specialty/Mixed" draughts, my favourite being the Irish kilo: 20 oz Guinness with two espresso shots. I thought I would hate it, but was pleasantly surprised. My first visit here was at the tail end of a rather destructive pub crawl with a friend where someone bought me a Kilo. I'll personally vouch for it - you gotta try it before you criticize it. The free wireless also resulted in some drunk Facebooking. Never a good idea... Speaking of Facebook, they do have a page at facebook.com/TheHonestPi… in case you want to see what the community is saying. The food menu is pretty Irish pubish, with a few selections kinda sorta falling under the Irish moniker. I'm currently enjoying the hell out of the flank steak boxty with amish slaw and a pint of Smithwicks. Yes, I'm on line from the location and life is good...

We just had a couple beers and an order of tots. The tots were really good. Draft Beer selection was disappointing for a pub. Atmosphere was cool. Good live music.

I was in Chattanooga for a 3 day stretch for a buddy's wedding and we stopped in to this place 3 times. The inside is one of the coolest pubs I've been in. Loved all the wood and the chandeliers gave a nice contrast to the old saloon style. They have an excellent and large selection of beers in bottles, on draft, bombers, and cans. The service is great and the staff is very friendly. Only downside is you'll smell like an ashtray when you leave, but that's something I can live with.

You better hope you have a Mohawk in your group or you'll get mean mugged by the door guys and turned away by the tatted-up bartenders.

Awesome place! Very historic building and cool atmosphere. Great place to mingle with friends or meet women. Don't visit if you're expecting a quiet evening..this place gets loud and crowded.

This is an awesome venue for live music. Though I cannot speak to the types of music one may hear there, as I have only been once, the two bands I did see there were Fantastic! One was a pretty gritty, soulful blues/rock band with a distinct southern flair and the other was more of a modern pop/rock band reminiscent of some great alt rock and indie rock on the late 80's and 90's. The food I had there was solid and the menu did have quite a few options. Beer selection was modest but well thought out. Prices and service were very agreeable. But what the hell, Tennessee? Smoking in public buildings allowed? Seriously? This place was a 4 easy, maybe even a five, but the smoking inside is a major drag and, frankly, should be an embarrassment.

Fun place to hang out, but I think you have to be drunk to actually enjoy the food. The inside looks amazing with its big wood stair case and huge chandeliers. It 's very old and big, which is an aesthetic I really love. The food has left a lot of be desired. The famous duck fat fried tater tots are very salty, and really only do it for me when I'm too tipsy to really care anymore. Pretty much anything I've ordered has been really greasy and flavorless. I tried a cheesecake slice once. It was still thawing. I tried the bread pudding. Hands down the worst bread pudding I'd ever had. I had some meat and mashed potato dish that was obviously pretty forgettable (other than it was mostly sauce). I come here more to get drunk and enjoy the atmosphere and not so much for the food anyway. It gets pretty crowded here on weekends, but I've never seen any overly drunk, stupid rude patrons. It's fun to play darts or pool if that's your thing, sit upstairs and watch the people below or go read the graffiti in the bathroom. Staff has never been rude to me, although one bimbo decided it would be good idea to help herself to a seat at my table and ask my boyfriend if he "wanted a Stella, honey?" since he asked her out a long time ago or something like that.

Found this place online while preparing for my trip to Chattanooga. The beer menu won't let you down and the food was really good! I went for the 24oz Snakebite (lager&cider) and found the ratio of both to be perfectly blended. Well done bartender! Also, live music on a Sunday evening is always a plus! Though, the $3 cover was not. We thoroughly searched our pockets for cash/change since the ATM was not working, and apparently hasn't worked for a very long time. 3 floors of tables to dine and pool tables, also a darts area on the 3rd floor. Be aware, smoking is allowed here, and the crowd, mostly college students in the area, take well advantage of that.

Came here on a whim before going to a comedy show and we were blown away by how awesome this place is. It's a renovated building that used to be a brothel in a simpler time, complete with a top floor and chandeliers. Classy, yet casual. The food was amazing. I had the salmon BLT (ask for it on a potato roll, trust me) which was delicious and perfect for salmon haters and lovers alike! The sandwich was perfectly portioned, with smoked applewood bacon that I swear was thicker than the tomatoes. On the side I ordered their signature tator tots fried in duck fat. They are simply the best tator tots you've ever had: crispy, buttery, and they melt in your mouth. My boyfriend ordered the tator tot appetizer, which came with a variety of sauces, including a Srirachi mayo (which is pretty hot, warning) and a very interesting curry ketchup. Worth a try! The service was excellent! Granted we were the only ones on the top level, but our server was dedicated to showing us the best of the menu. Great recommendations and even samples were given to us, including an extra dipping sauce for the tots free of charge! Honest Pint is a great place for anything, whether it be lunch, dinner, or binging during a live show. If you don't mind the smoking, that is....however, don't let that discourage you from the place: the nonsmoking area is just as nice

So I really like this place. Love the atmosphere. Drinks are decent. Service is great. I have dreams about the Sully's Nachos : A bed of housemade chips with Honest corned beef, kraut and Swiss cheese topped with our Russian Dressing. Pure heaven, is what that is. I've had a couple of other things on the menu also and they were pretty good as well...I am a fan.

My husband's favorite pub...authentic Irish corned beef and a selection of sausage for the Germans. Not much of a meat-eater myself, but hubby loves his pub food. And it's sweet to see him happy over good beer and man food! Just over the state line (If you are in northeast AL) and located downtown 'Nooga. Bar is lovely with polished wood and reminiscent of the early 20th century. Cozy place and the staff is awesomely friendly. And they love tattoos!

Happened to "stumble" upon this place in the middle of the night. To start, the place looked like it was a good time. The layout allowed us to dine in peace in a separate room away from the bar itself. In no time we were greeted by "Lisa", who, I don't think, could have been more polite and knowledgable about the menu. I got their "Irish red" (the actual name escapes me). It was, however, very good. The food on the other hand was AMAZING! I'm not sure I could do it justice in a review. We all got something different from the menu. Each item just as good as the next. I had the corned beef and cabbage. I don't think I've ever had corned beef as tender as this. The cabbage and carrots were the perfect texture and it was all brought together with seasoning that blew my mind. The price for my meal was only about $15! I know I'll be trying my best to make it there again.

Great Food, Atmosphere and service. The Honest Pint is the third restaurant by the owners of The Hair of teh Dog and Terminal Brewhouse. They have a wide assortment of beers on draft and by the bottle. They also have various types of specialty drinks with Irish influence. When you first walk in the front door, there's a jukebox to the left with various types of music, including the Drop Kick Murphy's! I was a fan from the start. Straight in front of you is the bar, to the right pool tables and tables to eat from and then you can go upstairs to find additional pool tables and dart boards. To the left is the non smoking room. Unlike previous reviewers, I found the non smoking room to be pleasant and smoke free. The kitchen is also next to the room, so you get your food immediately after it's prepared. The menu is eclectic. You have your choice of many different types of starters, the usual pub fare and an Irish ale and cheese soup. We chose not to have an appetizer as we were told from previous diners that the entree's were large. The Entree's went from a simple sandwich with home made chips to plated dinner choices. They also had an assortment of Boxty's which is an Irish potato based pancake with filling. I choose the steak boxty which was served with a side of homemade potato chips. The Boxty pancake is made from mashed potato's and shredded potato's and delicious. The steak one is filled with tender slices of steak, sauteed onions and peppers with some jalepeno slices. I normally dislike anything with Jalepeno's, but it was the perfect amount and despite loving the meal, could barely eat half of it, the portion was so large. My boxty was about $9. Another one of my companions had the jerk chicken based boxty which was simply delicious. The last companion had the pork chops with a stuffing of sausage and apples. This meal was pricey at $13, but worth every penny. The server was friendly and always there when needed. Not overbearing. The Honest pint is perfect for anything from a romantic dinner for two, casual dinner with the family or a night out with the friends. Go go GOOOOO!!!

I found the Honest Pint on Yelp when I was in town for work. It was a good walking distance from my hotel and I love a good Irish pub. The atmosphere was exactly what you'd want when walking into a pub. There are plenty of pool tables and a jukebox for your entertainment. I sat at the bar for dinner and got quick and friendly service. The beer selection was good. I chose Smithwick's and paired it with a Tuna Burger. To my delight, the Tuna burger was delicious. Perfectly cooked and went great with the homeade potato chips. I'll definitely be returning on my next trip to Chattanooga.

Food is awesome.. the burger is one of the best I've had. But we're here to discuss Guinness. You have to order a "large" Guinness in order to get the proper glass.. but it's still reasonably priced. It was at the Honest Pint (the staff are great... say hi to Jules for me!) that I was inspired to get my first tattoo; the Guinness Harp.. about the size of a silver dollar on my left bicep... constructed for me by Jennifer at the tattoo place right next to the Honest Pint. Definitely the place to go in Chattanooga for a Guinness!!

My experience at the Honest Pint wasn't quite as honest as I'd hoped for, but maybe it was my fault being a vegetarian trying to find something to eat in an Irish pub. The dish I ordered advertised no meat in the menu and just to be safe I asked the waitress if it was vegetarian and she assured me it was. However several bites in, I realized there were very large slices of what looked like ham or something. I showed these to our waitress and she assured me there was no meat in the dish, that it was potatoes. On what planet are potatoes pink and fleshy? I wouldn't have been as bothered by the whole experience had she simply gone to the cook, realized oh, this is in fact meat and apologized. This never did happen. Other than that, our experience at the Pint was over all pretty great. Awesome building and great beer!

This has got to be the most horrible joint in the south. Absolutely reeks of smoke and sewage. Everyone lighting cigarettes with cigarettes! Staff are scum and rude as crap and drinking along with everyone else. Don't stay for music if you value hearing! I wouldn't recommend this place to an enemy. I would rate it zero stars if Yelp would let me!

Went for St. Patrick's day and had a good time. Irish beers on tap and a good menu. I need to check this place out on a normal weekend to see how busy it gets. Cool balcony that overlooks the stage with pool tables.

Hair of the Pint The Honest Pint 35 Patten Pkwy Chattanooga Pint is part of the group that also owns Terminal Brew House and Hair of the Dog. All three are beer-centric establishments with active bar scenes. Each has a "theme" to (slightly) differentiate itself from it's siblings, and each serves a variation on pub grub. Pint presents itself as an "Irish Kitchen" as well as a pub and venue. Located in a space that had previously been a billiard parlor and club, the main bar/venue section has been fabulously renovated in polished woods, brass and glass. This, however, is also the smoking section. Up a few stairs, thru a door, and down a few stairs is the non-smoking dining area which adjoins the kitchen. The room has all the warmth of a high school detention room with institutional green walls, little decoration and the constant passage of servers in and out to the main rooms, trailing smoke with them. There is an excellent selection of beers and a very good list of whiskeys, all reasonably priced. There are enough libations here for multiple visits. The menu is sectioned into "Shares Well With Others"-(appetizers) $3.5-$13, Wings $4-9.5, Salad $4-9.5, Soup $5.5+, Sammy's$6-9, Burgers $4.5-13, Boxty (potato pancake wraps)$7.5-8.5 and Dinners $8-13. Two desserts are offered. Most items have a cutesy name ("OOOOOEEEEEE!!! for Cajun roast chicken, a "Celtic Cobb" salad) or initials; "B.S.S.D.S.L.T." for a BLT with salmon and sun-dried tomato. Service was clumsy. Although our server claimed five years experience, she did not know what fish was in the Irish Fish Tacos (ahi, not cod), nor how it was prepared; seared, she guessed. She was, however, quick to suggest the most popular items which were "awesome" and "amazing" and happened to be her favorites. Pomme Tots, $5, is a cone of frozen tater tots fried in duck fat. The fat adds a unique mouth-feel and flavor, both of which are obscured if one uses the accompanying dips. Bonny Scot, $6, are hard-boiled eggs "breaded" in American country sausage and fried. The advertised ale mustard missed the plate. The eggs were an interesting one time taste. Irish Cheese Dip, $6 was a crock of melted cheese, spinach, potatoes and a bit of bacon (and I suspect, a dash of ale) served with crackers and a nice soda bread. Fully flavored and rich, this is sufficient as a lunch when slathered on the soda bread. The Rube, $8, is the house Ruben, with thick chunks of corned beef and the usual suspects on thick rye. Nothing new here, but a hearty serving fit for knife and fork. The Grilled Eggplant Boxty, $7.5, was a thick potato pancake (not your momele's latke) wrapped around eggplant, feta, olive spread and peppers. It paired well with beer, but the ingredients lacked distinct flavors resembled a veggie stew, and after a few bites the dish became a bit monotonous. Herder Pie, $8/$15 present as an island of cheese-mashed potatoes in a pond of wine/mustard sauced lamb stew. There was one thick slice of carrot. The lamb was tender, but so mild in flavor it could have been beef. It was none the less enjoyable comfort food. Irish Fish Tacos, $9.5, contained that most Irish of fish, ahi, in corn tortillas with some wilted cabbage and a "Malt vinegar house salsa" which seemed to be little more then dilute vinegar. Flavors were indistinct to the point of being insipid. The first piece of the Tuna Burger, $9, chopped fish and flavorings, had been passed for sampling when the recipient discovered a hair in her mouth that was imbedded in the burger. The waitress was informed and asked to see the hair and allowed she was mystified where the hair came from as everyone in the kitchen wore hair nets. She suggested the hair was one of ours. A women thought to be the floor manager (she did not introduce herself) came over to offer a reorder, which was refused, the tacos being asked for as a substitute. A moment later the taco eater discovered a hair in her taco. After finally getting the waitress' attention- she was talking with friends- she and the manager again expressed mystification as to the origin of the hair. The Pint Dip, $8, was substituted for the fish orders. The meat, like thick Steak 'Ums was adequate with onions and stout jus. At this point, others at the table had stopped eating. The servers clearly did not believe that the errant follicles were of staff origin and said as much, further stating that the hair had been "analyzed" was not theirs, but looked like one of ours.. No offer of comping was made nor were apologies offered. Ambiance: poor-fair in non-smoking section Value (Price/portion): good Service: poor-insulting Food: unacceptable due to hair, fair otherwise 28-May, 11

Enjoy.

Visited for the first time last night and will definitely be returning regularly. The setup for live music is great, and the service was excellent.

Good lunch deal but it smells like a smoky pub. Tries very hard to be authentic. Good tater tots. Service is okay.

Excellent food in a non-smoking area. Great service. For the south part of downtown, the Honest pint is tough to beat for lunch. You do, however, have to be over 21 to enter...
