I don't know why I don't dine here more often. Maybe it's that the restaurant is 25 minutes away? I don't enjoy East Brainerd? No matter. I have been enjoying the same meal at The Chop House for... 16 years? And I always say, "This is the best meal I have ever had." It's the schrod fish dinner with spinach maria on the side. It is the most delicate, non-fishy fish I've ever had, and the way they prepare it makes it taste just like butter. So light, delicious, crazy good. And I can't get enough of the spinach maria; it is the best I've had, literally. It is perfect. And the accompanying bread is just delightful. I imagine that the other food they serve is great, but I will never find out for sure because I am stuck on the schrod. Yum yum!

Fabulous yellowfin tuna! My wife said it was the best ever - and she is a tuna sushi expert. I loved everything served. Service was good. We will be back!

Had an early dinner here while on a business trip. Very nice interior and very friendly staff. I had the New York strip and it was perfect. Will be back when returning to town. Very, very good steak, as good as what you can get at Ruth's Chris.

We were here for a banquet that includes dinner. The room we were in is a private room that can be reserved for big parties of people. There were over 30 people who were members of our club present. Menu items ordered: Pork Chop, side salad with ranch dressing, loaded baked potato, sweet tea, bread with olive oil. My salad was great with tomatoes and topped off with ranch dressing. The baked potato was loaded with cheese, sour cream, and etc. I enjoyed it so much I ordered one to go for another day. My pork chop was the best I have ever eaten. It is as big as a prime rib steak. When served and brought to your table, it actually looks like a steak. It was unbelievably good and flavored just right. Now, my sweet tea was southern sweet tea just the way I like it. However, I saw the bottom of my glass several times while having dinner on this night. I ran out of tea at least 3 times. Each time it took several minutes to get it filled. I even had to remind my waitress a couple times. It is because of this that they don't get 5 stars. My friend, got prime rib steak, baked potato, bread and water. She too enjoyed her meal. In summary, they have a big room for parties of 30 or more that you can reserve. Get the pork chop meal as this is what they are famous for locally, thus Chop House.

Food was great but the service was on the terrible side. I went during lunch and I was there for 20 minutes before a drink order was taken. Then after ordering food I had to ask after about 30 minutes in which our waiter said the order must have gotten lost.

This will be a follow up on my last visit which wasn't good at all. I was contacted my management, and invited back to give another opportunity, along with a gift certificate. This most recent visit was quite a call contrast to the first. We couldn't have a better meal, service and overall experience. We didn't let the server know about the gift certificate until the meal was finished, to allow him to put his best foot forward, and he did! My only expectation that was not met, was a visit by management to follow up. Otherwise, food was prepared exactly as requested, service was spot on, special requests were taken care of, and my thanks for allowing us to give the Chop House and opportunity to prove they are great!

Update: we had a rehearsal dinner here. We had 20 guests, and only one server! Some guests were a little late due to traffic, and we had to ask for bread. Even so, our server did an amazing job. The food was delicious and came out pretty quickly. There was some confusion when passing out the food, but it was still a great eating experience for everyone.

My boyfriend and I took my godkids and their significant others here for dinner last night. I'm not going to lie, I almost change the restaurant after reading some of the reviews. My boyfriend really wanted to try the Chop House so I decided to stay. It didn't start out too well. He called to make a reservation since they didn't take Open Table. He gave all of the information to the girl and she put him on hold for a few minutes. She then asked for all the information again. I made another reservation on Open Table for the same time and while we discussed. We opted to keep Chop House and canceled the Open Table reservation. We got to Chop House at 7:30pm and got seated right away. We had a party of 6. Our server was very friendly, patient and attentive the whole night. The salads didn't come all at the same time but we didn't make a big deal, mostly because I got mine probably. My boyfriends dark and stormy was not very good and very flat. When we pointed it out, she was apologetic and changed it out to his alternative. Our appetizers, cocktail shrimp and spinach queso were very tasty. Our dinners, a variety of steaks - ribeye, NY strip, sirloin, prime rib and some pasta dish. They were all perfectly cooked and delicious. They forgot the mushrooms on one of our steaks but my godson was half way through his meal before he even realized it. Overall it was a pleasant experience and I'm glad we chose to dine there after all.

Good stop for lunch in the Hamilton Place area, especially if you're under the gun time-wise. Price is also right with a great selection of lunch meals from $7 to $10. (My sweetie and I got out for just about $30, with beverages, an extra salad, two entrées and tip.) Service is absolutely adequate, nothing more, nothing less.

7:30pm immediate seating at 7:20 pm Sat night. Friendly staff. We were seated in the lounge. A guy eating at the bar had issues with his meal. The couple setting behind me had issues with their meal. The couple setting next to us complained that there was a lot of fat in his steak. After servers, waiters, hostess, and GM came and spoke with each party. I have never heard so many "I am so sorry" at one place. My baked potato was cold and the steak was tasteless. I did not complain due to all the other complaints. I spent $70 not worth it at all.

I've seen the Chop House since we moved here but never stopped in because I thought it was a steak house and I'm not a steak fan. However, we wanted to try something new and gave it a shot. We were seated right away, the decor and setup is family friendly and the next step up from fast food or casual fast like Panera (although I think the food at Panera is much better). The menu was pretty diverse and went beyond steaks. I went with a steak burger that was pretty decent but was a lot like hamburger. The only downside to the burger was that I asked for medium well but it was medium. I didn't say anything to the waiter so I won't hold that too much against them. Wife ordered grilled shrimp and pasta and it didn't look too inspiring. Service was good, kid had a good attitude and took care of us. Price-wise it was pretty good which was it's saving grace. It's highly unlikely that I'll visit again. I'll run my luck at someplace new.

My husband and I had an early dinner here last night. Now I will add that it was Valentine's Day and the place was packed. They even had temporary "fold up" tables out in order to accommodate the busy night. Our waiter was excellent. Our food was good with the exception of the fact that my husbands steak was severely over cooked. They gave him a new steak and potato to take home with him including bread. We also noticed that a customer at a near by table had their steak under cooked and they took it back and cooked it more. We also noticed that many of the servers were confused about what tables food went to. We had good brought to our table three times that was not ours. I will say again that it was Valentine's Day and tables were added that are not normally there. That could have been the problem with food going to incorrect tables. My filet medallions with blue cheese butter were GREAT and perfectly medium rare. I also had the chopped salad and baked potato. All excellent. I would go back.

It's the day before Valentine's Day and had a great dinner. The service was excellent, our server Nina was very polite and friendly. The food was timely and well prepared. The atmosphere was very nice and clean. Being a Friday and a holiday eve it was busy but comfortable. The management checked on everyone. It was a very good dinning experience. I would recommend reservations. We will be back.

They offer great lunch specials and the food is really good. Large portions and the service was very good! I had the roasted turkey and dressing- delicious! Large portion and it was only $7!!! The crispy green beans and banana peppers are quite yummy -they are fried in a panko style batter.

We called ahead for seating for six and were promptly seated in a comfortable and rich setting. The server was friendly although drink refills became an issue throughout dinner. She did much better at bringing the bread although she forgot to bring the regular butter after two reminders by one of our party (as opposed to the honey butter that is the default). The bread was soft and warm and I found the honey butter an excellent complement. My Father-in-Law ordered the onion rings which arrived hot and in a pleasing stack of large rings. Unfortunately the onion inside was undercooked and rather unpleasant. When the entrees began to arrive the server told my mother-in-law that the soup she'd ordered was no longer available. This should have done much earlier when the appetizer came out. The server also failed to list all the options as we saw a tomato basil delivered to a neighboring table and my mother-in-law would have selected that alternative had it been offered. She instead was stuck with a black bean soup that was rather spicy for her pallet. My wife also got the same soup and it was rather tasteless and the heat offered no flavor. My father-in-law also had a Caesar salad that looked wonderful and he said it was very good. My wife really liked her Balsamic Blue Cheese Chopped Salad as did her mother. My entrée was The Cuban and it looked wonderful with a generous serving of meat. However, the ciabatta bread was tough, stale, and inedible. The French fries, however, were crisp and fresh. Unfortunately, the many negatives were quite bad and overshadowed the evening, making for an unpleasant experience. So much of the food was visually appealing but tasted bad or lacked quality and the service was lacking. I have also seen the menu changes drop some of my favorites, so there's little reason to return to this disappointing venue which we used to love. It definitely fails to deliver value for the premium charged.

The shrimp tamales are amazing; the rare perfect combination of fresh seafood and traditional southern cuisine. They have just the right amount of kick and are appropriately portioned. Also, Alex is a fantastic and professional server, you should ask for him by name and let him tell you the story that brought him to Chattanooga.

Our server was great, but the food was just okay. The dining room decor could use some attention. Not the restaurant's fault but there was a really loud group, bordering on obnoxious, at the table next to us; and in general, the other diners were really loud. I haven't been there in a long time and I just remember it being a little nicer.

The service is quick and friendly. Its a good setting to go treat yourself. I like it. It's a lovely fine dining I was dining by myself in front of a nice fireplace. The bread is great and app of Mozz Sticks, I got the sirloin steak and baked potatoe with butter and a potatoe soup that had bacon and cheese in it. It was a wonderful meal. Had to take it home to go left overs. Good restaurant and will be going back

My parents moved to Chattanooga about 8 years ago and this is one of our favorite places to have dinner when we get into town. After an 11 hour car ride from Chicago there, we like to unwind with a nice meal at Chop House. First off, the sweet tea. We don't get it made like this up north, so we always enjoy it. The soups here taste home made and are always wonderful. I never use the menu here anymore. I always order the pork chop with sweet potato. Always. I have yet to have a bad pork chop here. Every time it has been perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked and juicy. the service has always been superb at Chop House. The manager on duty walks the entire dining room asking everyone if the food and service is to their satisfaction. we look forward to Chop House every visit to Chattanooga.

The Chop House is a chain steak restaurant that has recently started a lunch special from $6 to $10. It's all the same food they have for dinner but now for a lesser price at lunch. I had the steak burger and it was a hearty portion (I only ate half). For $6, it's a bargain for the quality of food. The place was pretty busy for lunch time. Lunch special is from Sunday through Thursday.

Really nice decor and ambiance, but the food and the service was awful. Ordered $22 filet and it tasted old and zero flavor, broccoli tasted like it had been soaked in cabbage juice. The baked potato was OK, but had fake bacon bits. For what they charge, awful meal I will not go back.

My favorite steakhouse in Chattanooga. Best service, quiet atmosphere, best food!

This is a east tennessee chain with just a few outlets. The one on Gunbarrel road in Chattanooga has gone through some rough spots, but the last few times I've been impressed. Good selection of fresh food that is cooked properly, priced reasonably, and served capably, any restaurant that can do that consistently gets four stars!

If the Chop House has anything else on the menu other than Spinach Queso and chips, I never knew it! Just kidding. If you are a steak person, they have one of the best New York Strips I have eaten anywhere around here. Sorry Vegetarians and Vegans. I think the portions are 14 ounce and 24 ounces, go for the big one. I am a Well Done kinda gal myself, but to each his own. Did I mention the Spinach Queso? It's gooey, spinachy, peppery hot goodness!! Since they are in the VOL State(Volunteer)...they also have very good Big Orange Potatoes, sweet potatoes to those not familiar with the Vols. Can be very crowded on a hot Saturday Night, but the drinks are strong and the food is good. The kids menu lacks taste I think, too bland. Did I mention the Spinach Queso?
