Stopped in to try a coffee place I haven't visited before. The coffee shop is at the end of the building when you enter from the street. The atmosphere is very coffee shop, relaxed, places to get comfortable, and this place has a great view as well. The service was acceptable nothing over the top, not overly friendly, very task oriented: order coffee, pay, pick up. I ordered a latte and a lemon poppy seed muffin. The muffin was decent, made in-house, and was tasty. The coffee was pretty good. I would stop in again if I was in the area.

I'm only not giving this place five stars because I've only been there once. This place is a great find for those who are looking for a cozy, quiet (just during weekdays, they tell me), free-wifi area. There's a couple couches, plenty of tables, a high counter (high chairs) with plenty of outlets, a small bar and a patio with a wonderful view of the bridge. Garrett the Carrot is an awesome barista, and the dirty chai is quite delicious. I would have liked to pay $1-2 less for my drink (it was almost 5), but the price won't keep me from coming back here. #update: I went again today. The turtle mocha is a must have!

This was the first coffee place I went to when I first moved here. It was one of the few independent coffee houses here. Stone Cup is a great space. Fantastic views of Coolidge Park and the river and across the river, views of downtown. They have lots of comfy seating inside and outside. I've had small meetings there and larger ones, and the staff is always accommodating. Free Wifi. The coffee is always good. The staff is friendly and when I used to work in the neighborhood, I stopped in all the time to get my morning coffee. They were quick to get you served and on your way. Parking can be tough, but not impossible.

Great place to hang out! Convenient location, good place to get work done (free wifi, fine speed & consistency). Never a problem to find a seat, but beware if you have a laptop that plugs are rare. Their espresso drinks don't compare to coffee-obsessed places around town, but there are plenty of other options (including booze!). The iced tea was good and unsweetened - always a plus in the South! Staff needs to get on the same page, though - when I bought the tea, the person helping me made a point of mentioning that refills were free. Then when I went back to get my refill from a different staff member, he said it was 50 cents. I know that's not a fortune, but it seems really stingy to charge for refills of (pre-brewed) tea. If you could choose loose-leaf and they brewed it to order, I'd understand, but there's only one option and it just comes from a big jug. The hummus wrap is the only vegan option (besides a bagel), but it was surprisingly good! I would order it again. All in all, what this place lacks in ambiance (Rembrandt's) or coffee quality (Brash), it makes up for in its great location and its view on nice days.

Really, this place needs to be reviewed as two different businesses- the fantastic outdoor patio and the actual coffee/food part. The outdoor part is easily 5 stars- the patio overlooks Coolidge Park (ignore the parking lot between you and the park) and has a great view of the walking bridge. When it's decently warm and you can sit outside, they also open a pair of garage doors and the whole shop is open-air. Fantastic. They do carry beer- they rotate two or three taps, and they usually have a local beer, a Highland beer, and something else that's generally different and/or interesting (last time I checked, it was Sir Perry cider). Cans of PBR are available for cheap. They also carry a decent selection of bottled/canned beers. The coffee is actually pretty great IF it is fresh (and it isn't always fresh), but here's a protip: Don't drink the standard drip coffee past ~7PM (everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, starts buying PBR about this time. You would do well to imitate.). It most likely won't be hot, and won't be fresh. Their espresso is pretty good- try the Cubano, hot. Liquid cinnamon. As far as the food goes: the paninis are pointless. Oh boy, a baguette, deli cheese, and random deli meat. Flavorless. Don't waste your money. I have not, however, had any of their salads yet.

(Think 90 seconds) he tried to tell me that tax was high. 200% of the menu price. Ha! That's a lot of tax! Sucks it's the only place this side of the river. Even though it's a mile away, GO TO REMBRANDTS.

I came to stone cup for a little writing by the river with a cup of coffee and a bite to eat. There's no disappointment on these counts. The interior is interesting and clean. There was Costa Rican coffee brewed which was excellent. It was roasted lighter than other Costa Ricans I've had in the past but was still nutty and delicious. I also had an Eggel which as you might surmise was a simple toasted bagel with a scrambled egg. Good choice for an easy, protein packed breakfast. I imagine it would be great to grab on the go in the morning. The staff seemed a little preoccupied with their phones but willing enough to answer my questions when I drew their attention. All-in-all, a great place to spend a rainy afternoon in downtown Chattanooga.

10 Stars! After a less than pleasing experience at Totto (sushi bar a few doors down) we were rather annoyed (See my Totto review). we decided to get coffee, this time not letting Yelp lead us. We passed Stone Cup on the way to the car. We had a very enjoyable stop at Stone Cup. The barista - and I can't remember his name, a small guy with glasses - was very engaging. Making conversation, being welcoming, and making a suggestion for my coffee. He was spot-on! That was the best cup of joe I've had in a long time. It wasn't because I was thirsty, it was because that was good stuff. I tried calling several times on the way back to Nashville to ask what was In that phenomenal cup of goodness -- maybe I can try to recreate it locally. Alas, their phone number goes straight to voicemail. Owner: I left a voicemail with my number. please call me so I can compliment the barista and find out what was in my yummy cup of sheer awesomeness. I'd love to know.

Good luck trying to stay till nine. By 810 the server was turning the chairs on the tables with such a slam that you could not miss her meaning. She scattered three groups of customers in five minutes. Coffee is great and everyone was nice till the bell rang eight, then they rolled up the welcome mat and put it firmly away. Too bad. This place was an overall disappointment for a number reasons: (1) most of the people who worked there had this "I'm too sleepy to really engage with the customer" feel to them; (2) they are extremely confused about what a Cuban is (what they make is more like a Mexican latte); (3) the food we ordered left us wanting more - but it was only because we weren't full; and (4) it irked me that they charge 50 cents for a refill on iced tea (that seems really cheapo to me). I won't be going back.

I was thrilled to find a few indie coffee shops during my visit to Chattanooga. On a gorgeous January day that was 35 degrees warmer than the NYC I left, Stone Cup's back patio doors were open, looking out over the throngs of people enjoying the weather in the park below. I'm happy to report that people watching was in full effect, and the atmosphere was relaxed. The baristas were friendly. I had an Americano which was okay, but on the weak side because it was too big, i.e. there was too much water. Another time, another drink, and I'm sure it would have been fine. I liked that they sold used books too near the front, that's a nice touch. But that patio! A luxury we don't have here in New York...

I moved from Chattanooga to Boston nearly three years ago. Prior to that I was a fairly frequent Stone Cuper. My last visit home I was super excited to revisit Stone Cup and I was not disappointed. If anything it is even better than I remembered. Actually, it flat out is better for one reason- the customer service is loads nicer. I mean Stone Cup never had crazy bad customer service, but the people they have now are so warm and welcoming that there really is an inviting atmosphere. I literally was at Stone Cup every day of my vacation whether with friends or taking a break from the whirl of visiting. The food was as super yummy as I recalled and the Earl Grey tea steamer I got was so frothy, warm, and yummy.

I'm not a coffee shop kinda gal, but when I do go, I try to frequent local, independent coffee shops. The Stone Cup has some good coffee and other drinks, but it's overpriced. The food is run-of-the-mill, but also very overpriced. I don't actually like the atmosphere - it's a little cramped, too loud, and always crowded. I constantly have trouble finding a seat, and normally have to sit outside.

One of the best breakfast sandwiches in town. If you know me, you know how important this is to me. Stone Cup, with an optimal location for strolling leisurely in some of Chatanooga's more pleasant areas, always has a good cup of coffee and a comfy seat. That comfy seat may be occupied by somebody staring blankly into the screen of a laptop, or by somebody engaged in interesting and passionate conversation, usually with another person (great place to eavesdrop...creeper), but eventually they'll move on and then you can loiter too. They also have a handful of brews on tap, which is always handy if you need to come back down off your caffeine buzz. Most importantly, when you leave here you'll leave reeking of roasted coffee--which is as it should be.

The price of a mocha at this place is about a dollar too high, but the veggie panini I had was awesome. We sat for about 2 hours while we worked on our computers. There weren't very many plugins and most of the seating wasn't ideal for hours of sitting at a laptop, but most people don't do that at coffee shops as much and for as long as we do either. There were some great movie posters and really comfy couches, plenty of them. The people at the counter were a little rude and the "waitress" who brought us our sandwich mumbled something and seemed generally unenthusiastic, but we only had to see them for like a second so, whatever - typical hip coffee shop BS. Free wifi is awesome so.. we'll probably be back but I'll be getting a plain coffee and no food.

Three and a half stars might be better. I like the atmosphere of the place and the free wifi is a good thing. It wasn't terribly crowded when I was there so I didn't have a problem finding a place to plug in, but I could imagine that being a problem. The coffee tasted fine but the cup was rather small (maybe 6 oz?) and even with one free refill it seemed overpriced. Seems like it would be better either to charge $1 per cup since they're small, or the $2 (I think) that they currently charge plus 25 or 50 cents per refill. I will go back because it's only a 20 minute walk, but as long as I'm driving, there is better coffee at better prices in Chattanooga.

Pretty good coffee. I've come her a few times and it is in a great spot. It overlooks Coolidge and the Market St. bridge. I really enjoyed their White Mocha Blanca, however did not enjoy the Turtle Mocha. Not the best I've tasted but it's a pretty good place!

I've been a fan for over 10 years, way back when Jennifer Stone decided to start roasting her own coffees. I followed them through different names, locations and owners until my heart broke and Stone Cup Coffee House was no more. Until the Phoenix rose from the ashes as, well itself. A local businessman who was also a fan reopened as it originally was, dedicated to great coffee and a relaxed hip environment to sip, visit and wright a Yelp review. Sandwiches are served but I've only enjoyed a cookie or two. Free WiFi of course.

This place was recommended to me by several people, and when I strolled along Frazier St and spotted the "People Love Us On Yelp!" sticker, it was a no-brainer to stop in for coffee and more. NPWH for sure, and the girl behind the counter was eager to describe lunch and breakfast items she recommended (and she told me breakfast is served all day). My café au lait was delicious. Free Wi-Fi is another reason I stopped in, as I do not have it in my new digs and am right now relying on nearby spots to get my online needs met. Cozy chairs and sofas, plus a small number of tables. I imagine I will be a frequent visitor thanks to the freezing weather, it being just down the street from me, and the comfortable setting!

If anything it is even better than I remembered. Actually, it flat out is better for one reason- the customer service is loads nicer. I mean Stone Cup never had crazy bad customer service, but the people they have now are so warm and welcoming that there really is an inviting atmosphere. I literally was at Stone Cup every day of my vacation whether with friends or taking a break from the whirl of visiting. The food was as super yummy as I recalled and the Earl Grey tea steamer I got was so frothy, warm, and yummy.

I'm not a coffee shop kinda gal, but when I do go, I try to frequent local, independent coffee shops. The Stone Cup has some good coffee and other drinks, but it's overpriced. The food is run-of-the-mill, but also very overpriced. I don't actually like the atmosphere - it's a little cramped, too loud, and always crowded. I constantly have trouble finding a seat, and normally have to sit outside.

My favorite thing about Stone Cup is the outdoor seating. It has a view of the river you can't find at any other coffee shop in town!

One of the best breakfast sandwiches in town. If you know me, you know how important this is to me. Stone Cup, with an optimal location for strolling leisurely in some of Chatanooga's more pleasant areas, always has a good cup of coffee and a comfy seat. That comfy seat may be occupied by somebody staring blankly into the screen of a laptop, or by somebody engaged in interesting and passionate conversation, usually with another person (great place to eavesdrop...creeper), but eventually they'll move on and then you can loiter too. They also have a handful of brews on tap, which is always handy if you need to come back down off your caffeine buzz. Most importantly, when you leave here you'll leave reeking of roasted coffee--which is as it should be.

The price of a mocha at this place is about a dollar too high, but the veggie panini I had was awesome. We sat for about 2 hours while we worked on our computers. There weren't very many plugins and most of the seating wasn't ideal for hours of sitting at a laptop, but most people don't do that at coffee shops as much and for as long as we do either. There were some great movie posters and really comfy couches, plenty of them. The people at the counter were a little rude and the "waitress" who brought us our sandwich mumbled something and seemed generally unenthusiastic, but we only had to see them for like a second so, whatever - typical hip coffee shop BS. Free wifi is awesome so.. we'll probably be back but I'll be getting a plain coffee and no food.

Three and a half stars might be better. I like the atmosphere of the place and the free wifi is a good thing. It wasn't terribly crowded when I was there so I didn't have a problem finding a place to plug in, but I could imagine that being a problem. The coffee tasted fine but the cup was rather small (maybe 6 oz?) and even with one free refill it seemed overpriced. Seems like it would be better either to charge $1 per cup since they're small, or the $2 (I think) that they currently charge plus 25 or 50 cents per refill. I will go back because it's only a 20 minute walk, but as long as I'm driving, there is better coffee at better prices in Chattanooga.

I didn't expect good coffee in Chattanooga. But who knew... I had their cappuccino and I was pleasantly surprised. I took it to go but if I had more time I would probably stay and enjoy it in their large cafe space.

Pretty good coffee. I've come her a few times and it is in a great spot. It overlooks Coolidge and the Market St. bridge. I really enjoyed their White Mocha Blanca, however did not enjoy the Turtle Mocha. Not the best I've tasted but it's a pretty good place!

I've been a fan for over 10 years, way back when Jennifer Stone decided to start roasting her own coffees. I followed them through different names, locations and owners until my heart broke and Stone Cup Coffee House was no more. Until the Phoenix rose from the ashes as, well itself. A local businessman who was also a fan reopened as it originally was, dedicated to great coffee and a relaxed hip environment to sip, visit and wright a Yelp review. Sandwiches are served but I've only enjoyed a cookie or two. Free WiFi of course.

Great oatmeal for breakfast. Friendly service, cool atmosphere, even some used books for sale. Nice view of the park. Free Wifi. We'll be back.
