Rib & Loin Menu

We stopped here for dinner but discovered we were arriving 15 mins before closing, so we hit their drive thru instead. We got the ribs for two meal with potato salad and macaroni and cheese, and corn on the cob. The ribs were fall off the bone tender and the potato salad was delicious. The macaroni and cheese was about average as far as restaurant Mac n cheese goes. The corn on the cob was very good. It also came with several slices of white bread that looked like it was toasted only on one side...no butter or anything...found it in the bottom of the bag, not sure what the purpose was? We had more than enough food for the two of us.

I had never had BBQ like this, yum! However, order the kids plate as you get way too much food.

The food here is almost consistently wonderful! One of my favorite BBQ places! I always tell people to come early, because there's always a wait - except for today. It worried me that I got a parking spot so close, because I wondered why there weren't more customers. I decided just to smile on my good fortune and go in anyway. We got seated right away - wow! - but then nothing. 10, 15, almost 20 minutes went by and our waitress still hadn't come to take our orders. I went to the hostess stand to explain our demise and seconds later a very irritated(?) waitress came to take our orders. We figured our table probably got lost in a server assignment mix-up which we all know happens from time to time, so no worries. Drinks came, fun discussions with my family at the table ensued, and 15, then 20 minutes later, no waitress, no drink refills, but more importantly - no food! Seriously? I would consider myself a very patient customer and on busy days here I actually sit down expecting a wait, but this wait was reaching a new record and they were not at all busy. Finally, our food came with all its delicious glory and our waitress did finally make a few appearances, so I give this visit a 3. I didn't have the heart to give a 2. Come on Rib & Loin! I really want to give a 5 next time!

After using my friends GPS to find a couple of BBQ places on the east side of Chattanooga -- that no longer exist -- I yelped this place in my iPhone -- glad we did! Porsche provided wonderful service; ribs & beans are 5 star; tasty sauces; pulled pork & chicken too dry and slaw too creamy for my taste buds. Nice environs. Sam Adams in bottle for 2.50 - sweet! I'll be back....

The locals that I talked to recommended this place as the best BBQ Chattanooga had to offer. I would have to agree, probably one of the best BBQ'S I've ever had (minus a few in TX). Succulent meat falling off the bone with great smoky flavor. Service was excellent. You can leave for under $10, but I had to get desert. I loved the banana pudding! The wafers weren't completely soggy and the bananas weren't brown!! I also heard that they had blackberry cobbler on Thursdays. Must try!!

When I travel around the United States, I always ask the locals where they think the best BBQ joint in their city is. In my quest to find the best BBQ in the country, natives of Chattanooga brought me to Rib & Loin. And I have to say, I was impressed. You see, when you get to a certain point you realize that the best BBQ isn't the stuff that has so much added to it that while it tastes good, it's not really good BBQ. A good sauce can only do so much. It's a cover. The best food in any category of food, no matter if it's Sushi, traditional Italian, or BBQ -- it's the one that has the most fundamental aspects of it done right, and needs nothing to hide behind. Good BBQ stands on its own. Rib & Loin is one of these places to me, where you find a near perfect nexus of smokiness/ subtlety and juiciness; done just right. Sauce is not even necessary but very good if you choose to use it. For the regional BBQ experience in Chattanooga, this is the place. 4/5

I've only been once but plan on going back again so that should tell you what I think about it. Nice atmosphere, service was good, price was reasonable, and the parking was close. If you like BBQ give it a try.

I picked up takeout here Thursday the 4th my wife was starving after not being allowed to eat for the customary 24 hours prior surgery. The girl taking the order was new apparently first she brought my order on a plate instead of to go. We got that fixed and got back to the hospital with 2 dinners to find I was missing. Napkins, forks, and the cardinal offense bbq sauce after I asked for extra. I called back and spoke to the owner and was offered desserts (ok good honest try) this was before I ate the meal. After the meal with no bbq sauce semi cold meat, I was far more mad about the whole affair. Probably won't go back the place closed in 10 minutes from when I spoke to manager would have been great if they could have dropped the sauce off on the way home. But they didn't and sadly dinner was pathetic, I'm going to outback next time and I even stopped at chilies for chips and dip on way back. If I had known I would have just gotten dinner there and said hell with rib and loin. Real simple Check your bag before you leave. This was my dads favorite Resturant before he died, you let it and customer service standards go down hill. Fix it

Ok I will preface by saying I am NOT a BBQ lover. I went because I was passing through. I consider myself a foodie and did not enjoy this food. I found it flavor less and as dry as the osteoporosis crumbling bones it was falling off of. If you like that sort of thing then by all means go there....you can literally crumble the bones between your thumb and forefinger. I had ordered a baked potato because my hubby and I were gonna share a 3 meat plate, and I am glad I did, but you would think that a place touting it's BBQ would not use bottled bacon bits o. Even the lowliest thing on the menu...come on guys...Please think outside of that smoke box. Excellent service though.

Let me preface this by saying I don't do anything without consulting Yelp. I was in Chattanooga for a week on a work trip and on the second day my co-worker who was also visiting recommended I try this place. I took a look, saw 3 stars, and tried another BBQ place with slightly higher reviews. On my last night in town I decided to give this place a whirl. Pleasantly surprised! It certainly out performed it's yelp reviews. The hostess was very friendly and my server, Jason, was incredibly friendly. I wish I could take him as my server to every restaurant. The food was delish! I got the chopped chicken with double green beans. Sounds boring for an out of towner visiting a BBQ place in the south but eat like that all the time so it's just what I like . For comparison, I went to Sugars Ribs the day before and I liked the food just as much but wasn't crazy about the really thin, vinegar based BBQ sauce. At Rib & Loin you'll get the thicker, sweeter sauce. Anyways, give it a go!

Love this place and it's also my friends family's restaurant. The pork is great and the loaded potato is bigger than your foot. They cater!!

First time ever having food from here and it was fantastic! The best pulled pork I've ever had. Would highly recommend this place to anyone!

This is some good BBQ. I like the choices they offer. I love the stuffed potatoes and the banana pudding, or "nanner puddin" as I've heard it said, is super good. Family friendly and a huge location. No frills and very casual.

My husband and I have been eating at Rib and Loin for years. We LOVED their spicy pulled pork sandwich and made sure to get it often, and usually for our birthdays etc. It was THAT good. So why 1 star? The past few times we have gone, we realized that the service had started to go downhill. The drive thru workers seemed like they were doing you a favor by taking your order, missing things in the order, cold sandwiches, or trying to rush you through ordering. Usually, the food, even while cold, was still worth dealing with the unprofessional attitudes -- but that ended last night. My husband and I got to the drive thru at 8:52... They close at 9. (While this would be a problem in a fine dining restaurant, this is a drive thru....) Well, a very irritated guy came on the intercom saying they had already closed. My husband simply asked what time they closed, the guy said 9, and my husband said, "is there a way we can still order as it isn't 9 yet." To which we got no response. Napology, no kindness, no... "Hey, sorry, we closed early, if you come back tomorrow we'll make it up to you..." no concern about keeping a long standing customer happy. Nothing. (Keep in mind we were ordering a pulled pork sandwich that literally only requires taking meat and putting it on a bun...) So, my husband called and asked to speak to a manager. He explained that this was not the first time this has happened to us, and since we live 30 mins away, if they always close early, we'd like to know so we would only plan to come when we could get there earlier. The manager literally HUNG UP on my husband. He wasn't rude; he was calm and just asking out of curiosity. The manager, like the workers, seemed to think she was doing us a favor just by picking up the phone. My husband then wrote a Facebook post, HOPING it was just a misunderstanding, as we would love to still give this place the chance to remain a staple in our family. Well, can you guess if there was a response?? I guarantee I would not be writing this if there had been one. Instead -- it was DELETED. Seriously. How hard is it to respond to someone that would have easily been a $60 ticket, and had been coming for years. I just don't get it! Here's hoping they eventually reach out. If not, then I'm sad to say we won't ever be back.

Best service and BBQ in Chattanooga hands down!!! The staff knows you by name and the food is top notch! Don't waste your time at the other BBQ places in town. This place is the best bar none!!

The pulled pork sandwiches here do not mess around...nor do the pork-topped baked potatoes. Must try.

Severely disappointed with the ribs here. Rib is in the name, how could it be so bad!!! I agree with an earlier post that they boil the ribs, the certainly fall of the bone, but with zero flavor. I give two stars for great service and great sides. Fried okra was excellent. But, I need better ribs...

On a recent stopover during a business trip, stopped in for a quick lunch. The drive-thru lane should of told me enough, but irregardless I ventured in. The "three meat combo" was the feature of the week, chicken beef and pork with two sides for $11 sounded like a fair value. After the food was brought to the table I had my second missed opportunity to leave before trying it but I let it disappear as I attempted to eat this "food". All the three meats were ran thru a food processor and piled together. The pile was barely distinguishable as meat, very dry barely edible. Bringing this trifecta round circle the Stouffers type frozen Mac and cheese side was simply horrible. The gallon of bbq sauce helped it down. Positive note: GREAT service and attentive service.

Great BBQ! The sauce is good and the ribs are okay...not great but okay. Pulled pork was a little dry but the laid back atmosphere made up for it. I'd eat here again.

I'm not a bbq fan, but we just moved here so I had to give it a try. I went 2 days in a row!! I had the pork plate each time with potato salad and mac and cheese. It was so delicious. I will definitely be coming back. The food is yummy.

My family and. I ate here a couple of weekends ago because I fell for the "Best of..." awards for BBQ. We went to the one in Hixon and the it was nicely decorated for Christmas. We placed our orders and I got the pork, chicken, and rib combo and was eagerly awaiting to chow down on 'Nooga's best BBQ. To be fair, I'll let you know that I am a true BBQ lover and cook, so I'm biased to my own - but hey, this is 'Nooga's best, right? NOT!!! The food came out and the ribs were yellow, hard, and dry. It appeared they were boiled/steamed to death with a bland seasoning, then thrown on a cooktop to reheat. They were horrible! I'm a firm believer that meat, especially BBQ, never comes in contact with water. If these ribs weren't boiled or steamed, then only God knows how they could make them taste any worse. In addition to the horrible ribs, the pulled chicken and pork were tasteless and dry, too. While paying my bill, the clerk asked how everything was and I said, "at least the cole slaw was good". Yes, the cole slaw was the only thing that earned a star from me.

This place has been here for a long time, so I thought it must be good. Nope. The ribs were dry, and the sauce is very ketchupy. The sides were ok-mac n cheese is not like homemade, which is disappointing. I highly doubt I will be going back.

I took a couple mile detour off the interstate to eat here because of the reputation. I don't think it fared well compared to other places I've tried in Tennessee. It might be the best in Chattanooga, but definitely not the best in Tennessee. I actually found myself enjoying the sides more than the ribs because of my disappointment.

TLDR: Pork, beef, and ribs were dry and mostly tasteless. Wings are decent but not great. Slaw and bbq beans are good. Service was good and building is odd. The food was very reasonably priced, but since it wasn't good, I'd probably pass. It's possible that this rating was due to going on a Sunday afternoon, but, I feel if you can't put out a quality product during your opened hours, you shouldn't be open some of those hours. This place is a bit odd. The "front" of the building faces the parking lot, which is small and sandwiched between Rib & Loin and another building. Toward the back it opens up but is still awkward. The restaurant has a drive thru, which reminds me of Buddy's back in Knoxville, but unlike Buddy's, this doesn't feel like a chain. Also, it looks like the restaurant used to be smaller and got an add-on later. Inside, there is a disjointed feel to the place, with dining areas to the left and the right. It's pretty big inside, and it has the look of a log cabin home. I kind of liked the style, though, for a bbq joint. The hostess was our server and she was dressed in a Halloween theme to go with the decorations they had up in the place. I ordered a combination dinner with beef, pork, and ribs along with bbq beans and fried okra on the side, all for 10.99. My wife ordered the chicken wing dinner with mac 'n cheese and slaw, all for 7.59. The server told us they bring the food out fast here so be ready. I was expecting 5 minutes but we waited 15. No big deal, but I thought it was odd that she called it out and it didn't come out fast. The wings looked crispy and saucy. There were six in the dinner. They were not all crispy and one of them was cold in the middle, yet done all the way through. I assume they were pre-cooked wings. I thought they would be smoked, though I couldn't taste it. In general, they were tasty, but just standard wings, and the cold was bad. The mac 'n cheese looked like standard creamy mac 'n cheese. It was. It didn't have much in the way of flavor. A little pepper and/or paprika would have been a welcome addition. The slaw was chopped mayonnaise-based slaw. This was the best of all the food we had. It wasn't too sweet and was extremely creamy. A good counterpoint to the spicy wings. My wife's plate was worthy of three stars, but my plate was a solid one star. The chopped pork and chopped beef - why do people chop beef - were dry mounds of tasteless, smokeless meat. These had obviously been sitting in a warmer or a steam table tray for most of the day. One of the ribs was fairly tender and the other was dry. Both were tastier than the pork, though not fantastic. Honestly, the best thing about the meats was the sauce, which is pretty damning for a bbq restaurant. The mild sauce was sweet sauce with more tomato in the base than I like. I'm not a fan of sweet sauces so this wasn't my favorite. The hot was actually hot and a dark thick sauce. It was well-balanced and quite tasty. As to the sides, my okra was good but it's fried okra. You can't mess it up. The bbq beans were pretty good. I couldn't say if they started with canned bbq beans, but if they were, they doctored them well. They were the second best side. Not too sweet, with just enough spice to balance it. The service was attentive and pleasant, though, our server was a little odd. The value would have made this place four stars easily if the food was better. Kind of a shame, really. May try again to see if it was an off day, but it will be a long while and only after I try other Chatt-q places.

A measly 1.5 stars. I've had BBQ from KC, the 'Lou, 'Bama, and yuppie San Francisco and I can definitively say that Rib & Loin does not count as a BBQ joint by any means! Perhaps this place has gone downhill since it was last reviewed 2 months ago. I came here last Saturday night expecting a place with a lot of heart and soul but instead found myself in a mostly empty middle America sit-down restaurant resembling a Perkin's chain. That alone should've been a red herring, but famished after a long day of not eating and going whitewater rafting, I ordered the 3-meat combo dinner (pork, beef, and ribs) with 2 sides (fried okra and mac n cheese) and toast. The shredded beef was moderately moist but unflavorful, the shredded pork was dry and unflavorful, the ribs were unflavorful and of variable tenderness. All the meats were devoid of any smokey flavor that is essential to good bbq. The bbq sauce was unmemorable, tasting similar to the KC Masterpiece you buy at grocery stores. The fried okra was ok, and the mac n cheese was an embarassing compilation of overcooked macaroni and a cheese sauce that reminded me of Velveeta. I flew all the way from San Francisco for this??? Oh and my friend's bacon did not smell like bacon and instead had a weirdly processed smell. How does a place called Rib & Loin not know how to prepare pork products??? The only reason they don't get 1 star is because their prices are fairly cheap (10.99 for my combo plate). But I most certainly will not return.

#Yelp #Yelp365 25 - Is this an adult place by name, something you would expect off Buford Highway, maybe ran like Spa 18? Not at all, this is a staple for the city, with quick service and even as a picky eater, the food was amazing. The restaurant is large and casual setting, they don't rush you to pay or exit. Eat your food, enjoy company, and leave when ready. If up in the area, I recommend the pork sandwich, onion rings were good but slightly greasy. Give it a shot when up in the area next time.

The pork sandwich is YUM...and it comes with the creamiest cole slaw I've had in a while. The fried okra is also YUM, but the baked beans seem pretty tame - I like 'em spicy. The stew is served with bread and does not seem house-made, which was a bummer. I love stew served with cornbread and that is home-made. Stew does not normally come with kidney beans or peas either if you know how the original stew is made. Tip: ask the waitron to bring you some hot sauce. Dee-lish!

BBQ pork sandwiches!!!! Even without the BBQ sauce, the pulled pork has great flavor and is super moist. The sandwiches comes in regular or large, and is piled with cole slaw (really, this is the only way to eat them). It really is that good... it is a must try!

I am dreadfully biased in my love of Rib and Loin, as it is the seminal BBQ establishment of my life. It is where I first sampled the glory of southern style shredded pork, and has been the measuring stick against which all other 'Q is judged. This passed weekend, during my annual pilgrimage to the matriarchal birth place of the Jonny C line, we visited Rib and Loin. As always, I was wowed. The meat has the perfect smokiness, not overpowering yet not subtle. Just succulent piggy goodness. The sauce, which is the second true measure of a BBQ joint, is perfect, with the sweet being thick and sticky, hints of molasses and honey, the hot having a real pepper bite to it, and the vinegar based table sauce being just the perfect drenching. The staff is always friendly, and they have great skill at packing some travel pork and sauce for your trek back to wherever you live. As long as I am passing through the south, Rib and Loin will see me at their doors.

A great BBQ place with a large menu for variety as well. I've tried both locations and find them equally good. This is also the de facto place that our entire clan goes for to-go orders for our large family gatherings.

We drove from DC to Alabama eating BBQ all the way and this was, head and shoulders, above all the rest. It may be the best BBQ in the South. As authentic and tasty as it gets. There is something for everyone. We traveled with kids and they loved the selection on the kids menu. The BBQ is wonderful, the portions generous and the beer served in frosty mason jars. Don't miss this great spot if you're in Chatanooga.

Beef and pork sandwiches were plentiful but a bit on the dry side and the sauces were lacking in flavor. Ribs were smokey but very dry and appeared to be reheated. Cole slaw was very good.

I took my husband to Rib and Loin on the way to Nashville from Atlanta today. It was his first time eating pulled pork ( gasp! I know right? ). As picky of an eater as he is he loved their pulled pork and both their sweeter and the hot BBQ sauces. I had the pulled pork potaoe and it was AMAZING! I only wish Nashville had BBQ that compares! We highly reccomend!

Very good barbeque. We tried to go to Sticky Fingers first because we had a coupon, but there was nowhere to park without having to pay, so we went to this one. Plenty of parking and great service. I ordered a large pork sandwich with fries and my wife ordered a baked potato loaded with beef brisket topping. This was not the best barbeque I've ever eaten, but it was in the top 5. That, combined with the convenience and service, granted it 5 stars in my opinion!

We had high hopes for this BBQ joint after reading so many glowing reviews but we ended up being quite disappointed. The pork and everything else was dry. As soon as I bit into the pork, I immediately started reaching for the BBQ sauce, which wasn't good either.our food came out really quickly, cafeteria style. On the other hand, the service was good and they even provided our dogs (who were tied up outside) with water. We really appreciated that! Bottom line: if you're looking to have some delicious BBQ, look elsewhere because you definitely won't find it here.

I always referred to it as 499-OINK because of the phone number's prominence on their signage, along with cartoon Porky-like pigs in suspender pants. Anyway, assuming that the place hasn't changed hands since I frequented it in the mid-1990s, which I think is reasonable to assume, THIS IS THE BEST PLACE FOR PULLED PORK BBQ ANYWHERE. Everybody, whether it's in Texas or Tennessee or Maryland (all of which I've lived in pre-California) has really strong opinions on the subject of barbecue -- but this is mine. I recommend the pulled pork sandwich because it's plenty of meat, and you don't have to eat the bun if you don't want to. They automatically put slaw on their sandwiches, but you can get it on the side if you're an inauthentic sissy like me (wink). It's good slaw, but the BBQ is DIVINE. As with most TN BBQ joints, you'll get a HUGE cup of whatever you want to drink, and it'll be chock-full of the really good kind of ice -- the little irregularly-shaped crushed-type conglomerations. Great cobblers, served warm and a la mode, of course. Good cornbread. Great BBQ sauce, too, I meant to say earlier. The atmosphere is super laid-back -- picnic tables with red and white checkered waxed-type table clothes. The dining room has an enormous seating capacity, so I doubt it that they ever have too long of a wait. But all of this might have changed since I graduated from UT Chattanooga. Nevertheless, 449-OINK (aka Rib & Loin) will be among my first stops when I'm back in Chatta-vegas again! Somebody local, please add a review with the latest scoop!

Great pulled pork sandwiches! Good place to stop on in for lunch. Came with some co-workers and the place itself was pretty busy, so that may be why the service was kind of slow. BBQ itself is pretty good for the area.
