Food is delicious. The service on the other hand is pretty terrible. We waited for nearly 20 minutes before anyone came and greeted the table. The server was rude and seemed bothered by his job. Would not recommend if you are interested in quick and friendly service.

People have been telling us how good this place is forever. Finally, my family and I decided to take the plunge and try it. The atmosphere was nice. It is one of those places where they put a ton of time and money into looking cool and aloof. The food was really different, but in a good way. They have tons of outstanding pizza combinations, and even gluten free items. The service was fantastic. Seriously, our waitress was one of the best we have had at any restaurant for a very long time. She was super friendly, helpful, and honestly just great. There are only two negatives to this place. First, it can get a little pricey. Unless you want to split one pizza, which my family never does as we are split meat eaters and vegetarians, it is going to get expensive to pick more than one thing. Don't think of it as a pizza joint, think more of it as going out to eat at a decent Italian restaurant price wise. Second, it takes a long time to get food. I get that everything is made to order, but even the appetizers take quite a while, we were told about 15 minutes, to make, but it seemed like a lot longer. That may have been because we had kids, though. The server brought everything as soon as it was ready. Just expect some extra food prep time. Overall, great food. Great menu items. Great service.

Wow! The pizza we had tonight was really, really, really good. I think it was called the philosopher's or something. The beer selection was off the charts. I really like the highland Gaelic. My server offered it and for that, I thank her. My daughter loved the Mac n cheese and the kitchen was nice enough to let her have broccoli. A really good time and we will visit again the next time we are out that way.

I've been coming here for a while since I work around the corner. They've got great lunch specials but I wouldn't recommend the sandwiches. Everything else is great.

Just passing through on vacation. Very good pizza, nice beer selection. Little expensive for plain pizza. I would definitely go back and recommend.

We visited MM for the first time tonight. On the way over, looking at the menu, I had a bit of a sticker shock on the prices for the pizza. We were coming with our two kids and knew we'd get half with cheese and half with a few toppings (for my wife and I). Our server--Kelly--was very patient with us as we asked about how pricing worked for the toppings. It turns out, each topping was $1.50. That can add up quick. However, on half the pizza, it's only half the cost. We got spinach and Roma tomatoes on our half. We also put in an appetizer order for the spinach artichoke dip. The spinach artichoke dip was yummy. Hot but cooled off quickly. The bread was nicely toasted and my 5-year old daughter devoured the two pieces she had. My son passed on even trying. More for the rest of us. The pizza--a large--came out a bit later. Remember, this isn't fast-food--be patient. They offer (for free) a side of dipping (tomato or butter garlic) for free--we had one of each. The pizza was delicious! The sauce was good enough to consider ordering a vegan! The kids loved it and I was happy to eat the crust with the garlic butter dipping sauce. The crust is thin and chewy and the a thick edge. For some, the crust may be too bready. I consider it my garlic bread. So good!! Kelly and the rest of the staff were very friendly and welcoming. On a side note: a customer next to us did a magic trick for the server--my kids (and my wife and I) got to watch too--and changed a $1 bill to a $100 bill (and back again). Pretty neat. Not something you see every day. We'll definitely be back. Probably for a date night so my wife and I could share one of the specialty pizzas. :-)

The staff were friendly, we had good service. Delicious pizza as always. I think Mellow Mushroom has some of the best pizza crust. I'd recommend a salad with the Esperanza dressing and the bruschetta too!

This, a regional chain featuring tongue-in-cheek menu descriptions, decent service, and open seating; offered in somewhat noisy dining environs. (Average 88 db, bout an average high-school cafeteria volume); Despite a heavy rush of orders flushed into th kitchen, my order, a Mighty Meaty pizza offering, which though slightly over-cooked, and a bit greasy, arrived in good time. My beer, Chicbock, was served at precisely the correct temperature. The menu offered gluten-free and true vegan offerings, a trend-setting development in this region, and a welcome change for those following dietary regimens. After eating at both the west Knoxville and 'nooga locations, I could best describe Mellow Mushroom as a 21st century version of a now-defunct pizza chain: Shakeys. Shakeys was loud, basic, and a great place for friends to gather. Mellow Mushroom is a great gathering place. I don't think I'd drive past my fav local pizzeria for a solo dinner at M/M, but Mellow Mushroom is perfect for groups OR for anyone moteling in the East Shallowford Road area. Decently clean, well-lighted (inside & out), Mellow Mushroom is a solid staple in the 'nooga pizza market.

Everything was OK. It was kinda expensive for what it was. I don't mind paying more for a phenomenal pizza, but this pizza was average. My wife and I did enjoy the beer selection though.

This is a weird Mellow Mushroom for me. Of all the locations I've been to over the years (probably about 10 different ones), this one seems the most corporate. The metal tables and decor make this location seem very cold and impersonal compared to the coziness of other locations, including the downtown one. I actually had written this place off about a year ago because the metal tables in the middle of the dining room are very uncomfortable and every time a server walked by I was bumped in the head or the back. However, after running some errands in Hamilton Place I was about ready to murder someone and needed a beer. My husband and I stopped in here but sat at the bar and our experience was completely different. Amber has been our bartender a couple times now and she is wonderful. Friendly, attentive but doesn't hover if you just want to chill out for a bit with your beer. You know, like a bartender should be. Since you can order from their full menu at the bar, we've taken to doing that and it's a much better experience than in the regular dining area. They have a really big selection of draft beer and great food. My only suggestion is that when you go here, sit at the bar instead of in the dining area.

We have recently found the joy of eating at Mellow Mushroom. We got the House Special (minus the onions) and a pepperoni pizza. Both were so delicious - especially the crust! LOVE the crust!! They also had a great selection of draft beers and we happened to be there during happy hour, so the craft beers were $3 each (there are a select few to choose from for the happy hour prices). The service was great and our drinks were always kept full. Another bonus is that we were staying at the Embassy Suites right across the street, so we could walk that (and not the super busy main road). We will definitely be back next one we are in the area.

Haven't been to this location and had the opportunity to go for team trivia. I like Mellow Mushroom downtown so I knew what the food would be like. The space is nice and big with plenty of seating. It was crowded with lots of people there for trivia. Got to give mad props to the best server I've ever had, Jordan. He had a very full section but never seemed stressed and was very friendly and had it all together. Even when I couldn't make up my mind what I wanted, he was patient and made sure to check back on me. I ordered the Thai pizza and while it was good, it wasn't very Thai tasting. I'll order a different pizza next time. The others at my table ordered pizzas that looked super yummy. Definitely would go back.

One of my favorite pizza places to eat at. Large place, big TVs and great food. On my latest visit I really think the service is slipping. It was busy so decided to just sit at the bar and chill. After 10 minutes of chilling and no server, bartender even got near me I decided to go get a table. After all the pizza is great if you ever get it, right? This place is very noisy compared to most restaurants. The concrete floors, metal roof only bounces the sounds around the room. Nothing to dampen the sound either. Good family place where none of that will bother you. Just wished the dinning area looked better that a cafeteria dining hall.

Expensive for just ok pizza. Good selection of tap beers but pricey as well. Probably won't go back

The quick review: My wife proclaimed this "her favorite restaurant in Tennessee." :) Now I am sure there are other good places to eat, but here is why it gets 5 stars. The server Lyndsi. Seems to me she was expertly handling a good number of guests by herself and did a great job. They ought to double her pay. She was perfect in every way when she handled our table. Just that right mix of friendliness without trying to be facebook pals if you know what I mean. She knew what we wanted, she knew the beers, she knew the food. We are vegan, and we like beer, and pizza. Which to many people seems odd, but I like pizza crust, marinara sauce, veggie toppings. Normally here in Tennessee, I order pizza without cheese. Which is fine. But we found out that MM has vegan Daiya cheese? Yay! I ordered some local Stout which at $5 is a bargain. It looks like the happy hours would be even a better deal and if I lived closer, I might become a fixture. My wife ordered an IPA which she loved. We started with the hummus appetizer. Nice crisp pita breads. Hummus with olive oil, a bit of basil. Quite tasty. When I ordered the pizza, it was quite refreshing to tell Lyndsi that we were vegan and to have her KNOW this meant no dairy. No butter. No cheese. Awesome. She recommended the vegan Mega Veggie with Daiya Cheese. It was very good. See pic.

The pizza is pretty good but a little bready for my liking. They offer a very nice variety of specialty pizzas and sandwiches. I've been to MM in several different cities and have always really liked it but this experience kind of soured me on the chain for a while. The server was a nice guy and did a good job but I believe that his manager pressured him into rushing us into paying our bill. We weren't too far into our pizza when he had the bill in one hand and was asking if we were going to want anything else. I asked him if he was being rushed off the clock and he explained that he was having to move back into the kitchen. My wife said it appeared to be the manager rushing him as she witnessed them communicating. I think the server wasn't comfortable treating us that way but was doing what he was told. I sure didn't like it. Again, no fault of the server and he even came back to our table after returning my credit card and told us not to feel rushed and stay as long as we want. Eh!

The pizza here was good but nothing unusually great. They offer gluten free and vegan which was very accommodating. Their buffalo chicken pizza was very good!

I love Mellow Mushroom. Love their food. Love their beer. So why 3 stars you ask? I have been here 4 times and sat at the bar each time. Food has been great. Service has sucked. Each time. It probably isn't the bartenders fault. It is like they are too busy pouring beers for the tables or something to properly check on you. I am sure I will keep coming back, but I will still think the service could be a lot better.

Before I go into the guts of the review, I need to send some love to our server Boy Jordan. You rock, my friend! Seriously, he did a fantastic job of staying on top of his tables during such a hectic evening and did it with humor and good spirits. About MM at Waterford. I am so glad they finally got rid of the white interior from when they first opened. It feels much more like a MM now and less like a lab. As far as the pizza is concerned, it's alright. I'm a bit snarky about my crust and there's another place in town that I think is far superior. The crust at MM is a bit too chewy and once the heat wears off, you've gotta tackle it with a fork and knife. (Pinky up!) That being said, I love the toppings that you can get at MM. Like whole portobello slices. Yum! That's why I almost always wind up with the Philosopher anytime I go. They offer a full bar and for me, local taps. Which means Chickbock! Jeez, I love this beer. Speaking of tap, they have a special on Sundays - $1 tap! I really wanted to give them a three stars, but Jordan pulled them up to a four.

The wings were very good. The sauce is served on the side, so you can get as much as you want without messing up your fingers. The pizza was out of this world. The crust was just crispy enough and the toppings were fresh. I had the Thai style pizza and it had just the right amount of zing. The beer selection was very good as well. They had a lot of seasonal brews and many local flavors. Great place

I would LOVE to give five stars. The pizzas were delicious. The pretzels were tasty. The only downside was our server was stoned or something. The guy was a complete idiot. We did get some of our drinks refilled thanks to a manager. Unfortunately, mine was the only drink which didn't get refilled. I guess water costs too much to get refilled at least once during a meal. It all worked out since I paid the large bill, the tip was small. I do have to agree that the music and noise level was very loud. We were in a corner booth so it wasn't to bad on us. It looked like other tables were screaming at each other. I like Mellow Mushroom, but I doubt I will ever visit this location again.

Well let me say been working in this town off and on for the past 5 months. .. been to many mellow mushrooms... this one introduced me to a new beer "brooklyn cuvee". A must try if you come here. My service is always outstanding anf the pies are always cooked to perfection. .. this is one of my favorite mellow mushrooms I been to. Check it out!

Just delicious food. My family was coming in from Michigan and had never been to one, and it was great. Excellent service, light delicious pizza with great crusts, and an overall great mood. Definitely would recommend this to people who want great pizza for a good price. Not very fancy, but not dirty or rough in any way. Could be considered loud to some, but the music was not annoying or anything.

I love the pizza! The calzone are my favorite. My husband loves the variety of the beers and the atmosphere. My only complaint is for this location only. The chairs are unnecessarily uncomfortable and they are lower to the ground. Makes it hard for a petite person to eat. We would have stayed longer to drink and watch tv but my back hurt. Please get some better seating. You don't want potential money walking out the door.

It's always nerve-wracking to return to a place you hadn't visited in a decade. What if it stinks? What does it say about you if you've changed to the point that you find it terrible? I'd been a Mellow Mushroom fan during my time in Knoxville, so I headed to this location of Mellow Mushroom last time I was in Chattanooga feeling a bit nervous. I'm relieved to say the food remains excellent. The less adventurous in our group went for the meatlover's, but I convinced some of us to go with a bleu cheese, shrimp and sausage version that was the hit of the evening. (Is it wrong to be moderately miffed when the same people that insisted on their meat pizza are fighting over the last slice of yours?) They had a remarkable selection of beer as well, with some local beers I'd never tried rounding out the meal nicely. The only disappointment was the service. I'm going to assume our waitress was not going after me on purpose, because I don't think I'd ever met her before ... but she swung her tray at my head while she was serving someone else in our group, and she would have creamed me if I hadn't done a full-body, Matrix-style limbo move back at the last second. She either didn't even notice she'd nearly killed me or was too embarrassed to apologize. She also managed to spill every single beer I ordered, though luckily on the table and not on me. Let me emphasize, however, that the food was so good that it's worth risking your life with the tray-decapitating service. A great addition to Chattanooga.

This location has horrible service. I have had terrible experience both times I have dined here. Last night my wife called in a pizza for carry out, they told us the pizza would be ready in 25 minutes. Just for good measure I gave then 35-40 minutes. Upon arrival to pick up the pizza I was told that the pizza would be ready soon to wait at the bar. I patiently waited and after 20 minutes I alerted the bar tender that I had ordered the pizza an hour ago. They returned with my pizza 5 minutes later and said it had been "miss placed " and had been setting for a while. I had already paid so I just took the pizza and left. The pizza was cold and soggy when I got it home. This restaurants pizza is extremely over priced and the service is horrible! I would recommend lupis at any location, as it is much better quality, price and service.

  • Jamie R.

It's just ok, not great and not terrible. Nice environment and decent service although for the $40 we spent here we could have gone to Pizza Hut and the pizza seriously would have probably been better. Overpriced and trendy are two words that come to mind.

If you want great pizzas, with inventive flavor combinations, Mellow Mushroom is the place to go. The Philosopher Pie with white sauce, artichokes and steak slices is quite good and to top it off, they even have several Gluten Free pizza offerings. The service is quite friendly. They have a huge beer list both on draught and in bottles!

I've always enjoyed this restaurant. This particular visit did not really live up to the past standards. Food was okay. Server was attentive but slow. My other remark for "A-Ok" rating is that the prices are a bit steep. For a pizza restaurant I think it's rather expensive. That being said they've got a an okay calzone with fresh ingredients. Wasn't totally impressed.

This hurts me to write, because I have been a HUGE Mellow Mushroom fan for years. But this is the absolute worst one I have ever visited. Kennesaw, numerous Atlanta locations, even downtown Chattanooga are all great. This one? Three visits, three strikes you're out. They simply CANNOT get your order correct. Folks, these are YOUR pies. How hard is it to get the ingredients correct? My absolute favorite-house special. Last 2 visits they left out bacon & mushroom. My two favorite toppings? Ugh! Today-Magical Mystery Tour. Left out the jalapeños! That's what brings the whole pizza together. Very bland indeed. We will never return. Even with the toppings they DO remember to add, they are skimpy at best compared to other MM's.

Too expensive for me. But love their crust. It is amazing!!

Try their Wings! Sure their pizza are fine but wings are the best. Since these wings are sooooo good but tiny, you need to order plenty of those baby.

  • Rich R.

This ain't NYC pizza baby so forgettaboutit.....pizza is not pizza and beer is not beer so you can't say that. The pizza is good but it's not the style you'd think.... The service is great and the craft beer list is awesome. I love craft beer and high ABV... This has that which saves the pizza. I might be over critical but don't advertise truffle pizza and then don't ad truffle to it. And don't tell me you don't know what truffle is when I tell you it's left off the pizza.... When it comes to truffle you can call me a aficionado.......

This reminds me of a trendy greatful dead themed restaurant with above average pizza. The butter crust is dense but flavorful. The ingredients are average but overall the pizza is above due to the crust. The staff are friendly and seating plentiful.

  • Bradley C.

The food is pretty good, but the service is a joke. It takes absolutely forever to get your food and it seems like the staff could care less. The pizza is good, but the overall experience is a joke. Look elsewhere for gourmet pizza.

This place was awesome! The pizza was delicious! We had a very friendly waitress and I ordered a salad with spinach and sugared pecans that was fabulous! Even the sweet tea and beer was over the top good. It will be a place we go again for sure next time we are in Chattanooga!!

  • David K.

It was alright. I tried the Holy Shiitake Pie, but it just wasn't what I thought it would taste like. The place is clean and got a large selection of draft beer. The place is a open area to watch the pizza making and they got food show. Bathrooms got cool looking sink. Loud environment to talk in. Spent less than $17 with a fruit punch flavor Dasani. It was neat they got different flavor Dasani's and a peach Sprite too.

This place is amazing. From the Alice and Wonderland awnings to the ginormous patio and the stellar beer selection, the 'shroom's got it goin' on! They have a whopping 64 beers on tap!! The bartenders really know their stuff when it comes to recommending good beer and/or whiskey. The pizza is easily the best around. Also really friendly serving staff. I will definitely be a regular here.

  • Josh N.

Surprised to see they had a Dark and Stormy mixed drink on the menu. Even happier that they had Landshark! A friend recommended the arrogant bastard beer which was great as well. Pizza and brownies were awesome! Can't wait to come back!!

  • Justin O.

I eat at the bar at least once a week. The bar tenders are awesome. Great service and just the right amount of socializing. They play good music and always have good games on the TVs. Food is consistently good and great beer selection.

    (4)
  • Monica B.

Piss poor service.... The only reason I gave 2 stars was the food was good. It really pisses me off to spend $50 on a pizza and beer and have crappy service. The staff were all sitting in a table and ignoring customers that walked in. My husband and I watched 3 parties wait for a hostess and eventually walk back out.
