Kumo is fantastic! It's the best Japanese restaurant in town and not many people even know about. My wife and I come here all the time. Hands down best sushi. Large fresh cuts of fish and creative presentation. Twice the sushi for the same cost as big chains, the rolls are just bigger. If you haven't tried it you should.

Easily one of the best restaurants in Chattanooga! Awesome hibachi (love the noodles), good service, and the sushi is some of the best around. This is a family-owned restaurant and the staff has always treated us like part of the family.

If it's bells, whistles, and great atmosphere you're after, this place is not for you. However, if you're looking for some fresh fish and good rolls for a very reasonable price, this is your place. It was very clean on my visit, the staff was friendly, and the food was delicious. I wouldn't recommend it for large groups, it looked like seating could get rather limited quickly, but it is a good place for two to enjoy a meal and conversation.

I was HIGHLY dissapointed with Kumo Sushi and Hibachi Grill. I found them on the key ring app on my smartphone and they offered a 15% off coupon. After speaking with several people we had made plans to dine their in the near future. I was in the area and decided to stop for lunch. The dining room was nothing special - ordinary. I ordered from the lunch menu and opted for the salad - the lettuce was almost frozen and it sat in a bowl of water. The main entree arrived and I was impressed, But then, when I showed them the coupon on Key Ring app the waitress got rude. Very Rude. She ask me where I found the coupon and I told her. She went back into the back and came back and ask me to show her the coupon again- I reloaded the app and it was GONE! I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone.

This is a great spot for yummy appetizers, fresh sushi, good hibachi, and exceptionally friendly service. Our group of 5 adults and 2 kids had an awesome experience here tonight. As appetizers we ordered BBQ Ika - squid served w/ eel sauce and lemon - we liked this appetizer so much that we got another one! We also had two orders of tempura. These were fried delicately and deliciously :) - dipped in the accompanying sauce, they were a nice complement to our dinner. For entrees, we ordered a Loveboat for 2 (which was a very generous portion of sashimi and sushi), a seafood hibachi dish, and a steak hibachi dish. I'd recommend all - including fried ice cream for dessert!! If you're looking for a great Japanese spot - would highly recommend this place!!

First off, let me say I grade Sushi/ Japanese restaurants with a very critical eye. If there were a 3.5 rating, I would give Kumo that. But since I don't think they deserve a 4 rating, it's going to have to be a 3. Kumo is GREAT for one thing: Sashimi. Their Sashimi is extremely generous in portion, almost twice the portion I'm used to seeing in typical Sushi restaurants. It's also very good, fresh Sashimi. The selection is limited but the quality of the fish was impressive, considering Kumo is in a random strip mall in land-locked Chattanooga -- the kind of quality I'm used to finding in good Japanese restaurants in coastal cities with direct access to the good stuff. Kumo's sushi is decent, but not great. Also, I have to admit, I was put off by the fact that I specifically brought a "date" there because I saw they had a "Love Boat" on the menu, which is usually a variety of Sushi, Sashimi and other cooked Izakaya style foods on a large wooden boat placed between the diners. It's very fun and a great "date" thing to order, sharing off of the boat together. When our "boat" arrived, it was on a big but ordinary plate. Covered with tasty food, but still... don't list the boat if it's not a boat, imho. It was very disappointing. Still though, the fish quality is great and the sashimi portions are excellent. But that won't bring me back again when there are other choices in town. 3.5/5

This is close to my work and we have a group that goes from time to time. Food is very good. Hibachi is my favorite. Sushi is good, not outstanding, but it is really just a lunch or quick dinner kind of place. Good value for the money. Clean facility, polite staff.

I waited to write a review after I had tried Kumo a few times. I enjoy their food so much, specifically their mako rolls, that we done here regularly. I will continue to come back and if your wondering if you should try it, I say YES!

I love this place. Their habachi is not greasy at all, and their sushi reminds me of Rain circa 3 years ago. Make sure to stop in.

I came in for lunch. This is a simple, straight forward place. The presentation is simple and just straight up plated sushi minus a lot of flare. However, the fish is fresh and the rice properly prepared. The staff is attentive and friendly. They have lunch box specials along with sushi roll combination lunch specials. The facility is very clean and well kept.

After some good suggestions from friends I decided to try this place. When you first see it you are a little put off by it's size, but I was amazed by the food. I've tried nearly every hibachi place in Chatt and this is the best I've had. I ordered the chicken and ny strip combo which was cooked perfectly. I tried the shrimp and filet mignon from my friends plate. The shrimp was very flavorful and the filet mignon was extremely tender and very well-priced. I would have loved to have tried one of the sushi specials, but they were terribly expensive. All in all that's my only complaint. Good service too! Great value!
