    I am a food snob and often dine in large cities, so I tend to be hard on my home town of Chattanooga and what it's inhabitants regard as edible. I did enjoy my dinner at Boccaccia. It's on the bottom floor of what used to be a saddle factory. I like this idea- industrial, urban, but trendy. They do not serve sweet tea, so you must ask for simple syrup. Their bartender is limited as to what she/he is knowledgeable to make. I went with a Shirley Temple with vodka, tasted like alcoholic Cheerwine, which was just fine by me. My entree was the seafood pasta, it had mussels, shrimp, and scallops. I appreciated the smoothness of the scallops and could tell they were fresh. My friend had the Ravioli, which looked wonderful and tasted just as well. For dessert, we chose the Tiramisu, and I'm happy to report it tasted just as good as what you can get in LIttle Italy in NYC. All in all, I am a fan and this joint could easily compete in a larger city such as Atlanta.

    very over rated and priced. My wife and I had lasagna and a salad. We both had ice tea to drink - $53 plus tip. lasagna tasted like a canned sloppy joe. very disappointing

    Great food and atmosphere, we'll be back as soon as we're able! Complex flavors in their seafood pasta (I forget the names of all that we ordered), and everything from service to presentation were top notch. This blows everything Italian restaurant that I've been to out of the water, except for one I visited in NYC years ago - but Boccaccia would definitely give them a run for their money. Really can not wait to go back.

    I have to preface this review by saying that I love Italian food, and I'm pretty picky about what constitutes good Italian and what doesn't. That being said, Boccaccia might be the best Italian meal I've ever had, and I've eaten lots of Italian food in my life. I went for dinner with my boyfriend and his parents, who had eaten there once before. If I had been asked to find the restaurant on my own, I would not have been able to. Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see a lot of prominent signage outside. The door was clearly marked, but impossible to see from the street. My boyfriend had made reservations for the four of us, so we were seated immediately upon arrival. The interior of the building was decorated very simply: drawings and photographs from around Italy. I liked the fact that the bare brick was left exposed on the outside walls (I love old buildings). My favorite decorative touch was a pair of clocks on the wall above the kitchen doors, one displaying Chattanooga time, and the other displaying the time in Milan. The lights were dimmed and candles were lit on every table, which gave the room a romantic feel. Our server was friendly and got our drinks out to us quickly. We ordered the Antipasto Misto appetizer, a kind of sampler platter of Italian meats, cheeses, and roasted vegetables. It was delicious, and really immersed me into the whole Italian feel of the place. For the main course, I ordered the Involitini Val D'Aosta, a chicken breast stuffed with prosciutto ham and fontina cheese, and topped with a reduction of balsamic vinegar. It was also served with a side of fettucine alfredo. Delicious! The chicken was moist and tender, and was really complimented well by the prosciutto and the fontina. The balsamic vinegar sauce had a bit of a sweet taste, and was the perfect sauce for the dish. The fettucine noodles were homemade and the alfredo sauce was great, as well. The fact that the pasta was fresh really made all the difference for the fettucine alfredo. It would have been good otherwise, but the fresh pasta really put it over the top! For dessert, my honey and I split a chilled chocolate tart, which I was too full to eat much of. It reminded me a bit of chocolate ice cream with a chocolate crust on bottom. Again, delicious! His parents had the creme brulee, which they raved about, as well. I would highly recommend Boccaccia to anyone who wants a scrumptious, authentic Italian meal. The servers were efficient and friendly, the food was fresh and delicious, and the atmosphere was warm and romatic. Just be sure to bring your appetite...and your GPS! You'll be glad you did. :)

    Simply amazing. The orchiette with sausage was amazing as was the spinach ravioli in brown sage butter. Portions are large, but not huge. You won't leave hungry! Place is a little loud.

    My experience was best summed up by a friend at the table that said, "Meh, yeah, it's good, but not somewhere I'll be rushing to come back to." Nice, industrial chic atmosphere. Service was okay. Caesar salad was fine. The portions are a bit small for the entrees, which would be fine if there were a starch to go along with it. I had a salad, then my main entree of scallops and shrimp, and the side was ... a salad. They put both scallops and shrimp on skewers - they were good, but there was some grit in my scallop and the shrimp were a bit overdone - tasted pretty good though. My friend's ravioli was the star of the table - it was delicious! The chicken (piccata, I think?) was also labeled "fine." and the flounder special was "kinda a let down." I ordered a gin and tonic, and the tonic was flat. This drink rather symbolized our experience.

    A little spendy and worth every penny. A very nice atmosphere with great service. The food is amazing. We really, really love this restaurant for special occasions. Oh, on your birthday dinner is free Kind of hard to find as there is no access off Broad. Turn on 31st and then two rights into the parking lot.

    Found this place by accident and took my wife there for our anniversary. What a pleasant surprise! Delicious, authentic Italian food. Great service and historic location. If you like Italian, you'll love this place.

    Don't visit unless your from around the area. Driving thru wanted to surprise my parents for an anniversary dinner. It was 730 on a Tuesday. There were maybe 5 tables in use. As soon as we walked in we were asked if we had a reservation which I can understand At a nice restaurant. But when it's Tuesday and the place is EMPTY. We were traveling and passing thru as I mentioned so being in the car for 12hrs we were not dressed to the nines and were looked up and down to feel like we did not meant their standards. The hostess walked away for ten minutes to see if they could fit us in. After her attitude I was very disappointed and embarrassed for the fact I was trying to surprise my parents. So we went to the next very nice restaurant down the road. Completely unacceptable. I researched this restaurant for weeks as I knew we were driving thru.......waste of time!!!!!

    If you want the real deal come here. Always extremely satisfied. Everything in the menu is awesome. The birthday person eats free as well! We frequent definitely on birthdays, anniversaries, and about anytime we are in the neighborhood. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for real Italian!!

    Home made pasta, great flavors and sauces, and excelent desserts! What a great Italian spot.... and in Chattanooga! This place is a little hard to find - have to take a few back roads off of Broad St to find it, and once you do find it - you'll likely have to wait for a table in this small homey restaurant. Reservations are pretty much a must - and you'll still be waiting even with your reservation. The atmosphere's nice and cozy, with maybe 15-20 tables inside. Brick walls, low lighting, pretty romantic for your dates w/ vampires (Yes, i'll get to that later). The food is pretty awesome. Carpaccio (raw filet served with bruschetta, parmesan, and greens) was just amazing. Tender thin slices of meet, slightly buttered bread, whew! Calamari is excellent, served with a white sauce that goes so well (i usually prefer marinara w/ my calamari - but this... goes well). For main course - I highly recommend the bolognese dish - comes with freshly made pasta, which is nice - but for me - the bolognese itself is what's awesome. As the portion is so huge, I want to request this dish w/ half the pasta, all the bolognese next time. =) Dessert - finishing on a good note - is always a great way to go. Lately, (and I don't think it's related to just coming back from Rome) I have been disappointed in my Italian desserts, but Boccaccia did well. Excellent flavorful tiramisu. They sold out on our 2nd visit. =( And... a nice creme brulee (Where I found out my date was a creme brulee vampire - that cracks the crust, and then eats out most of the inside when you're not looking! Overall, the food experience was just awesome, but the waits here are long, and not cheap (tho not overly priced - and excellent birthday deals). I'll be back! =D

    Very disappointing experience and service! Showed up for our reservation and there was no high chair for my 1 year old (wish they mentioned this on the phone!) The hostess and server were not helpful and we left before ordering. Don't care how good the food is, will never return and give this business any money!!

    On a date night out, we accidentally stumbled upon this restaurant. Luckily we were able to get a table without a reservation, but I'd suggest at least calling ahead. Cozy place with an excellent wine list and the food was delicious. It was a pleasant surprise! For starters, we ordered the fried calamari which was delicious and cooked perfectly. For my main course I had the pollo picatta. I highly recommend it but it was difficult to choose because so many dishes on the menu sounds scrumptious!

    Venturing out to try a new restaurant we decided to check this out. We got there early so we didn't need reservations. We were seated right away and the hostess was nice and she turned out to be our server as well. I ordered spinach ravioli and it was awesome. Very light and the portion wasn't massive; the flavors really stood out. The bread they provide was good but I'm not sure if they make it there. They served it cold and I'm use to warm bread. The flavor was fine but nothing outrageous. We had tiramisu for dessert and it was delicious probably the best I've had. This place is definitely on the list to check out again.

    This place was absolutely fantastic. The atmosphere was warm, elegant but not stuffy, beautiful music playing, and pretty white lights were strung all across the ceiling. The food was absolutely wonderful. Our party agreed that it was some of the best we've ever had. Finally, it really was not overpriced at all. Looking forward to coming back the next time we're in Chattanooga.

    The orchiette sausage pasta was some of the pasta I've ever had!! I'd go back just for that. The bread that comes with your meal - meh, I'd pass. We also ordered salmon and shared the tirimisu, both really good. This is a fun place for birthdays because you get dessert and pasta for free! The atmosphere is also nice. My only complaint is that it was a bit cold inside.

    Thank you YELP for finding Boccaccia for us! It's a small , rustic gem of an Italian restaurant tucked into a warehouse. Loved it as soon as we walked in. We were on a drive from Hotlanta to Nash-Vegas and started searching on Yelp for Italian in Chattanooga! Our homemade capellini pasta was delicious as was the bread and the fragrant, fruity olive oil! Caesar salad was delicious as well. Looking forward to visiting again soon!

    Stopped here for dinner when we came to Chattanooga for the night, on a road trip. Even though we are out of towners, and it was after dark, we found the place with a little help from the gps in the smartfone. It would be better if the sign was facing the street, instead of being on the wall around the corner from the street. I'm a former chef and current cooking enthusiast, always looking for an interesting place to eat when out of town. This place definitely deserves a look. Its in an old brick industrial building, with rustic wood tables. A relatively small place, but we enjoyed our meals. Wife had the Spiedini di Mare: skewer of grilled scallops and shrimp wrapped with prosciutto; served on a spinach & arugula salad with shaved parmesan. She substituted fettucine alfredo for the salad, no problem. The dish was cooked perfectly and tasted / smelled like it had been grilled over wood fire. I had the Involitini Val D'Aosta: chicken breast wrapped with prosciutto ham and fontina cheese with a reduction of balsamic vinegar; served with fettuccini alfredo. I enjoyed this as well, but you have to be in the mood for balsamic. They give you plenty of the reduction on the plate, which I found delicious. For dessert - the tiramisu was outstanding and very authentic. We had one little quibble while waiting for dinner - they brought out some nice bread and seasoned olive oil for dipping, but the bread is presented cold. We think they should serve it warm. Even better, make small loaves of rosemary flavored bread for dipping when the diners arrive, and serve it warm out of the oven. We have eaten in some unbelievably great italian restaurants, and have a lot of experience cooking fine italian cuisine (and making our own bread and pasta by hand) as well. To be consistently realistic, our experience warrants 4 stars. Bocaccia certainly was a pleasant experience for us but it isn't a 5 star restaurant. Then again, I don't think they are trying to be a 5 star place - its meant to be closer to Italian home cooking rather than fine dining..........

    A solid italian experience at reasonable prices. A group of 7 enjoyed our meal here. Main entrees/specials averaged $26. Bowls of pasta @ $15-19 were delicious. Assorted appetizers, calamari, etc. were $9, and spinach salads were $8. Bottles of wine were well priced at $40, while glasses were $7. Tiramisu and creme brulee were $7-7.50, and very good. Bottom line: I'd return.

    Best italian food available in Chattanooga with poor service! We ordered brushetta for appetizer which were amazing, my wife ordered a vegetarian pasta which was amazingly fresh and packed with flavor, I ordered lasagna which for me is indescribable "out of this world" might match what I felt about it just melts in your mouth, for dessert we ordered tiramisu which was too sweet for our taste buds. PLEASE IMPROVE YOUR SERVICE WE WANT TO COME OFTEN BUT YOUR SERVICE IS A TURN OFF!

    This is by far my favorite Italian restaurant in town. The pasta is made in house from scratch and wow you can tell. I have never had anything that wasn't out of this world delicious. This is one place I order a different dish every time I go. With exception of the CremBrulé. It is perfect every time and again made there. Great wine selection. The service is impeccable and the weight staff always has fantastic suggestions and is attentive and helpful. I can't say enough. It is a cozy size venue so to be safe I always make a reservation.

    Yummy, rich and luscious lasagne! Started with the Ceasar salad which was perfectly dressed, garnished with generous shavings of Parmesan cheese ribbons and homemade garlic croutons. Paired with a beautiful red Italian wine! A perfect Italian dinner in Chattanooga!

    I really don't understand how this place is not rated higher. This is much better than most of the other Italian offerings in the Chattanooga area and is definitely a favorite of mine! I made reservations to come here with my family for my birthday. I will admit this isn't the easiest place to find, in fact, we passed it twice looking for it. That was a little frustrating, but once we headed inside the experience just got better and better. Inside, the building is very nicely decorated and the atmosphere was very vibrant. The dining room is one big open room, so once the place filled up it got very loud. For an appetizer, we ordered the Antipasto Misto, an assortment of Italian meats and cheeses. It came quickly and we enjoyed sampling the variety on the plate. Watch out, this is a big appetizer and might fill you up! I had also ordered the "Cesare" salad, which was a pretty standard Caesar salad. As for dinner, I really couldn't decide what I wanted. There were so many choices that sounded so good. I wound up with the Penne Arrabiatta, which is penne pasta with pancetta in a spicy tomato sauce... all I can say about this dish is "WOW"... so very good! I couldn't get enough of it... despite being full from the appetizer and salad, I was scraping every last bite out of the bowl! Portion sizes, as I previously mentioned, are huge. Since it was my birthday, I wound up getting my entree for free, but prices were pretty reasonable for what you got here.... a lot of really good food! They still brought me a dessert, which I could barely eat more than one or two bites. Service was great. Our server stayed on top of the drinks, which were poured with a heavy hand by the bartender. Our server paced the meal just right... we never sat around wondering where she (or the next course) was. There are a couple of great options for Italian food in Chattanooga (check my other reviews for them), but this is one of the best! You will not be disappointed here.

    Passing through town (from Chicago to Jacksonville, FL) and just had a wonderful dinner at this restaurant! We originally found this restaurant on Yelp and the reviews we saw were accurate. My family and I rate this restaurant high. Order the fettuccini with alfredo sauce. Great stuff!!! Oh... and cute hostess, too. :)

    About as good as gourmet italian fare can get. Well thought out menu, well plated. Absolutely wonderful. My eleven year old daughter liked it...okay she didn't rave over it ... it's not really a good restaurant for children, but she ate the Ravioli with spinach and cheese and about cleaned them up. She also ate the Creme Brulee and some of the tiramisu. I had the scallopini saltimbocca and it was fantastic. Top notch place. Great food. You won't be disappointed with this one.

    This is some of the best Italian food I've had outside of Italy! Fresh-made ravioli, mozzarella di bufala on the bruschetta... and wonderful crème brûlée. We didn't feel rushed and the service was great.

    First, this place isn't easy to find. There's not an easy sign off Broad St. I was even more surprised when I called to ask for a landmark and the hostess didn't better explain how to arrive at the restaurant. Nice, cozy atmosphere, very intimate with only 20 or so tables. Server was friendly and checked on us frequently. We started with the meat, cheese and roasted vegetables for an appetizer. The cheese was very uneventful and the roasted vegetables were cold and slimy. Appetizer came out right away but we had a significant wait for our dinner. I had the Chicken Involitini b/c the server said it was a house favorite. The chicken was very dry and it was drowned in balsamic reduction (as if to hide the dryness). It was paired with some fettucini alfredo noodles which didn't have very much flavor. And it did NOT taste house made. My husband had the filet mignon with foie gras in a brandy cream sauce. The steak was cooked perfectly, but the sauce tasted very paste like and there was not a hint of foie gras that I could taste. If there was any in there, it was chopped in tiny pieces. Who does that to foie gras?!
