Good pizza, good atmosphere and really inexpensive for what you get. Most places in TN know nothing about pizza so this place with its crispy crust and cozy atmosphere does a very good job. Being from Chicago, the pizza capital of the country my standards are pretty high. I would recommend this for your corporate lunches.

Not what it used to be. For many years, my family looked forward to coming to Sal's lunch buffet on vacation. In 2015, it was an altogether different experience. My party arrived about an hour before the buffet ended and it was nearly empty. We figured it would be refilled. We were wrong. The buffet had a very limited selection, it was not fresh, and most buffet trays just remained empty until the buffet closed. What a disappointment. I've heard the restaurant has changed hands. That explains a lot. This vacation tradition has unfortunately come to an end.

Wonderful owners, great value and one of the best calzones I have ever eaten. The crust is perfect; crispy and thin. And they don't scrimp on the filling. Great for kids and casual dining. My boys love the pizza!

First of all, the pizza place was empty on a gorgeous Saturday. The service was good, but they had no reason not to be. We were literally the only people in the restaurant. The pizza wasn't bad it just wasn't great. The cheese apparently did this trick where it cooled off from the oven to the table when we were the only dining customers. Lol, I picked a piece up and it just separated. There was no string, no gooey, no nothing. I've had CiCi's pizza from the buffet with more melty cheese. Also skimpy on the spinach topping. But the service was A+. Waitress was friendly and my water glass stayed full. But I don't see me dining there again. There are too many better pizza options.

Service was prompt & friendly and our two pizza order was hot, tasty and satisfying. They changed ownership recently so their so so 2 stars may apply to the old owners.

Paid for buffet but where was it? I went to Sals with a group of friends to try their buffet out. Worst choice ever. After we paid for the buffet, there was 3 slices of dried up pizza overall, and 2 calzones. This didn't change throughout the hour we were there. They brought out one pizza, and it disappeared within a minute (because everyone was waiting). The pizza was not very good either. It seems they catered more to carryout than to the people that paid for the dine-in buffet. I would not visit this place again, nor would I recommend anyone to. 10 bucks for a buffet which is not a buffet. Cici's is a lot better choice and its only 5 bucks for the buffet. Atleast they have multiple choice of pizzas, and desserts and I wouldn't have had to fight for food. WILL NOT EAT HERE AGAIN!

This place is not joeys, ofcourse the name on the door is Sals so I judge it based on its own merit not the buildings history. I like the food here but usually stick with the spinach lasagna which is 5/5 every time I get it. I've had the pizza a couple of times via lunch buffet and it was 3/5.

I was sad to see the negative reviews on this place. My father in law is orginally from New Jersey but has lived in Brentwood for 25 years and he absolutley loves Sal's. We eat dinner here as a family at least once or twice a month. They have the best Stromboli and we love getting our pizza with musrooms, pepperoni, and fresh garlic. Warning! there Stromboli's are massive, a medium will easly feed two people.

Tried them again today, they have gone down hill since they opened. I could tell a change in the staffs attitude, they were a lot friendler today and the manager was busy putting out new promotional signs. I went during lunch and in the past they have always been busy but today they were empty. They no longer include the drink with the buffet and I think 12 dollars is too much to pay for what you get there. Even though they offered me a free large pizza I wont be accepting it. I will be watching yelp to see if they get any better, I know there stewarts ferry location rocks.

I love a good buffet whether it's Asian, Mexican, or American. I thought Sal's was a simple little pizza joint, but upon entering, I discovered that it was in all actuality an all-you-can-eat pizza buffet. Lucky me. It's decorated nicely with a tile floor, a water fountain in the center, and a rustic look to the walls. You walk straight in to a counter and place your order. The buffet is immediately to the left of the counter, so as soon as you pay, you can start dishing up your grub. Options on the bar are: salad, pasta, garlic bread, thin crust pizza, fried mushrooms, desert, and some type of stuffed cheesy thing (yes, that's the technical name for it). Plates (paper or Styrofoam) and silverware (plastic) are disposable. I wish they had real plates and utensils just to be green. The food was good. The pizza was a little floppy because it was thin, but it had a good taste. The pasta was delicious and the desert was interesting. I was happy with the food overall, but it was nothing to jump up and down about. I did notice that it was a little dirty in places. In particular, I thought they could tidy up the area beside and behind the buffet. Other than that, it wasn't bad. I'm not sure why there are so many bad reviews here. It's not as bad as some people are saying.

This is good lunch place especially if you are in a hurry or extra hungry. I think a lot of the reviews take this place out of context. It is not an over the top authentic Italian or super gourmet- but I don't think they pretend to be. It is a lunch buffet place that I take my crew to 2-3 times a month and nobody complains and they usually comment on something they really liked or had fun trying something new. Easy, hot and no wait.

We miss Joey, but his cousin took over and we still like the food. Different specials everyday and you have to check to see which one is available. Great for a family meal. New York style foods and filling. Has a full menu beyond pizza as well.

How disappointing. I placed an online carryout order - from Sal's website which clearly says allow 30 minutes. Arrived at the 30 minute mark, stood there for another half hour. When I was able to get a staff person to talk to me, he or she was rude and/or sarcastic, as though I were in their way and bothering them. I get that they were busy, but I have NEVER had this happen at another restaurant, to say nothing of one that charges $30 for a pizza and a calzone. You'd think the whopping price tag would at least buy a little decent service. If it's going to be an hour, say it's going to be an hour. At least apologize! Or don't treat paying customers as though they're imposing with their petty concerns - such as hunger. If I'd known? It would be one thing and I could have made an informed decision, or ordered from another chain - but since it was after 8:30 before I finally figured out I wouldn't get my food, I wasn't able to catch much of anything else before closing time. If you do order online here? DO NOT give them your credit card number beforehand!!! After I made a big deal about it I was able at least to get the charge slip back so I can contest this with the bank if the charge is put through. Never returning here, which is a real shame since the food here is great and it's the closest pizza place to our house.

Definitely Not Joey's. In a nutshell: It tastes like Chuck E Cheese pizza, except without skee ball and that creepy ass pseudo-muppet band playing fake instruments. This place may exist where Joey's once stood, but it is a far cry from the quality of Joey's Pizza. It's a buffet! How original! Here's a thought: Don't model your business after Cici's Frickin Pizza. It's gross, the clientele scares me, and I'm pretty sure the cheese is made out of globs of oil. Okay, I'm not being fair. Sal's DOES taste better than Cici's, but then again, everything tastes better than Cici's, including my leather driving gloves (shut up, I look awesome in them). You CAN order off the menu (Thank Jeebus) which I chose to do. You have to order at the register up front. No real wait staff. They call your name, you pick up your pizza. Then you get to experience the joy of eating off Dixie plates & using plastic utensils. Paper plates at a restaurant is kind of a peeve of mine, but if the food's good enough, you can get a pass for that. No pass here. Crust was burned, the mushrooms were canned (slimy & vile), and the pepperonis were judging me. Trying to cut that pizza with a plastic knife was like trying to chop through a Sequoia using Andy Dufresne's rock hammer after 17 years of toting rock into the prison yard & crawling through the doodoo river tunnel. I like how the first guy who reviewed this place (Joe T) only has one review on Yelp. And of course it's glowing. It reads like a car window flyer for why you should eat at Sal's crappy pizza. "Place is much cleaner than it used to be!" Really? Then why does it taste so much like ass? But hey, Joe T did throw in one 'flaw' at the very end of his review - the fact that Sal's doesn't serve wine. Yeah, that'll throw us off the trail. We all wish we could sip on giant bottles of Woodbridge with our pizza. Here's a tip Joe T: If you're going to plant fake reviews, at least write some for other restaurants as well. And don't make it so damn obvious. You used way, way too many exclamation points for a $9 pizza buffet. Punctuation speaks volumes. Basically, Sal needs to at least offset his food by installing a couple of games and a giant fake rat that plays finger cymbals or something. Thanks and God Bless America!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd been here before, but it was easily a few years ago. My fiance and I decided to head back for nostalgia purposes. The employees make this place stand out to me more than anything. I think they are all family, but sometimes they argue which makes the scene a little laughable. It's tucked away from the road back off Ward Circle in Brentwood. The inside decor is mildly Italian, but with a water fountain right in the middle. Today we tried the lunch buffet. It was a little pricey. $8.49 without a drink before taxes. With a drink after tax it's $12. A little much for one person, I think. But they have quite a few different selections of pizza, some desserts, with a few salad and pasta options. It's not the best Italian food I've ever had, but if you're looking to just grab a big slice of authentic pizza, then you'll be satisfied with this place.

Sal and Vic are obviously plants by management. Perhaps they are management. Too much specific information. Both reviews read like advertisements and Vic even posted a link to ANOTHER advertisement. Just because your restaurant shows up in a publication of sorts doesn't make it a good review. It's merely a blurb that a new restaurant was opening that claims to have good and fresh food, never frozen. It's about as relevant as a Nashville Scene review. Never frozen? How about those chicken nuggets I saw? Were you forming those by hand in the back? Or the calimari? Where are you getting fresh calimari daily in land locked Nashville? Or is it "Fresh Frozen", the doomed response of many a "restauranteur" on "Kitchen Nightmares". And since when are TV's a draw for a pizza place? My phone can display TV shows if I want it to. Big Deal. I also don't appreciate how they chose to disparage the former owners. I was a loyal customer for years, and Joey's was NOT dirty and they were NOT profane. I've walked in on a few loud voices, but I have never heard any of the staff from Joey's swear. It was part of the NY charm of the place. Like the family pictures, the various favorable reviews they had from local publications, the tacky Italian gangster art...even the nifty fountain they had. All gone. They stripped out he back wall, ostensibly so you can see them make your food, but it really just kills the vibe of the place.

Sal made a big mistake. He stepped into shoes that are WAY to big for him to fill. You don't go to an iconic place of business and set up shop with the same type of food when you cannot deliver the same taste, quality or expierence. Joey and his wife and family were priceless. You never knew what you were going to walk into but it was ALWAYS entertaining and ALWAYS amazing. Sal's pizza is like cardboard. CARDBOARD. The sauce is tasteless and toppings are NOT fresh. My crust was hard and burnt. I dared to not sample anything else because if you can't get pizza right then you sure as heck can't get anything else right. I don't think Sal is short for Salvatore and I really don't think it's Sal at all. They don't give me the impression of an italian american family. Which is totally fine. Hubs is a gringo and makes me italian food that makes me cry and want to kiss him european style. This isn't the point. The point is, don't paint me a pretty picture of an italian resturant and deliver me sub-par crap in the place of what was once a legendary resturant. P.S. I am totally in agreement with Meredith that Joe T. is a mole. His review is a farse! And for the record, it isn't much cleaner. It's the same. Maybe Joe T can also tell them that tiramisu is the dessert of choice in an italian resturant and NOT banana freaking pudding. I will NEVER step foot in back and I am patiently counting down the days til Joey's opens on Elm Hill and Fesslers. VIVA LA JOEY'S!!

Pretty good deal at lunch. Pizza is good and is fresh. Buffet is quick. There is better pizza out there but for a quick slice or two, it is a good value.

I discovered this place has some bangin' chicken alfredo. Cheesey garlicky goodness. Not a big fan of the pizza but highly recommend the alfredo. Stuffed mushrooms aren't bad either.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
