Over rated. Overpriced. For the price, the food didn't seem to match. The service was great though.

Not much to say about this place. Thoroughly loved the feel & look of this place, but the service & food was nothing extravagant. Waited quite awhile with an empty glass and the food took, seemingly, forever to get here. Not terrible, but not incredible either...

Homey, scored a nice corner booth. Waiter was friendly and had cool hair. Wasn't fooled by the q'doba card that we gave him, throughout the evening they showed tremendous integrity. Tried to give us dirty forks and after a complaint we received clean forks, a big smile, and a signature red velvet cupcake. Also even without a live band their music selection over the speakers is tremendous. Paul Westerberg over any public speakers shows shows intelligence that is level above most brookings eateries. Being from the Burroughs of portland, the eatery showed many parallels to hangouts of the motherland.

Had the opportunity to try the Old Market Eatery recently. What a great place! The atmosphere is both cool and eclectic. They have made great use of the variety of spaces that they have. The service we had was great. Everyone from the hostess stand to our waiter to the people that helped run our food out were both helpful and friendly. They have a good beer selection and a full bar. The menu is not huge, but that will not be a problem. They have a lot of variety along with daily specials. We ate from all areas of the menu including appetizers, salads, burgers, chicken and desserts. We all agreed this was one of the best meals we have all had in a long time. Try this place once and you will be a fan.

Alrighty. I can finally give Old Market the five-star rating it deserves. Why? Much to my delight, they have altered their menus. Not only are the lunch items now available for dinner (such as the grilled cheese sandwich), but something BEAUTIFUL appeared underneath the "BURGERS" category: you can request a housemade veggie patty for ANY of their four gourmet burger options! Kudos to you, Old Market! The new menus secured this restaurant's title as one of my absolute favorite spots in Brookings. It has everything I desire in a great eatery: phenomenal atmosphere, great plating/presentation, excellent selection of drinks, consistently delicious food, and--now--wonderful options for a non-meat-eater. It's perfect for dates, "friend dates," casual meals, fancy meals, group get-togethers, meetings (they have a private meeting room), celebrations (you can rent out the facility: imagine drinking mimosas under the twinkling lights in the patio for a birthday party or rehearsal dinner), or even just drinks or desserts. I've even stopped by for a cup of tea and a fabulous scotcheroo in mid-afternoon. It's such a versatile restaurant! Oh yeah, and it's also one of the only places in the area (that I know of) where you can order an Irish coffee (YES PLEASE). In general, I have absolutely no complaints. However, be warned that service SOMETIMES lags a little bit, but I typically have good luck getting seated and served in a timely manner. (And I'm willing to wait a little longer for top-quality food, so any minor waits I've had here didn't bother me.) That being said, the service is extremely helpful and friendly, in my experience.

Good food, great environment. This is as good as it gets for downtown Brookings.

The patio area has super nice atmosphere, even when you are the only ones there. Old Market Eatery has surprisingly good appetizers (which are half off late at night), however, they need to update their beer selection because they didn't have our first three choices of beer even though they were listed.

This place seems to be way under appreciated. The atmosphere is awesome. The patio like area is great. Granted it's not a patio, it's more of a 4 season room but it was very comfortable and relaxing to just sit in there. Their drink menu had a great selection of some not so regular beers and other items. The food was also a step away from the standard menu. I had a burger which was really good. I would absolutely go back to this place if back in the Brookings area.

I've been to Old Market Eatery three times now and I have found nothing but disappointment. The first time, I waited 45 minutes for a half sandwich and salad which I never received. The staff ended up asking if I needed anything after 10 minutes and it took another 15 for drinks. I don't know how long it takes to prepare a cold sandwich and salad, but I can assure you that it wasn't terribly busy and it was way too long. The next time a wait staff had told us, not so politely, that we had to find our own table but to just wait around for 10-15 minutes because they were full. It does you no good to have a hostess stand only to tell people seat yourself and wait. Both these times showcased a lack of customer service a new business should have. With no clear seating priority your waitresses don't realize you are sitting there and your customers cannot come in and go as smoothly. This happens in a few more places in Brookings and some are not so successful at it. Today, I went in to buy a cupcake as I had seen the pictures of them and they looked gorgeous. The pictures were misleading as I paid over two and half dollars for a miniature cupcake that tasted like I could make them at home. They were dry with little to no flavor. I may give this restaurant one more try in the future for the food but so far I am thoroughly unimpressed. I've had far better service in Brookings with The Pheasant and would recommend that restaurant and its artisanal ice cream over Old Market Eatery's cupcakes.

Its hard to find a place that you can say is very classy but this place was great. Amazing service by friendly staff. I loved the Odells Imperial Red that was on tap.

One of the better places to eat in Brookings. They have a good beer selection and every item I have ordered of the grill has been good. However, their pastas are fairly bland and the wines selection is not that great either. The service has been consistently very good to excellent. Overall, I would recommend Old Market over the Ram, Bravo's, or Brownstone.
