Recently, I had take out from YS so my review is for the food and customer service only. After finding the menu online, I called and placed an order. I was treated nicely on the phone and was told that, surprisingly, my food would be ready 15 minutes later. Upon picking up our food, I was treated very nicely at the counter and paid a seemingly fair price for 4 plates. My wife and I ordered small fried flounder plates for ourselves and 2 children's chicken finger plates for our kids. Honestly, our small fish plates would've fed all 4 of us! We had a large amount of leftovers in 3 of the 4 plates. I overate; the food was delicious! The flounder and hush puppies were outstanding while the chicken fingers and fries were very good. This is the first time in decades that I've had food from YS. I was impressed and will go there more often. I look forward to dining in one of the next times...

We went here 9/25th for Wed. night grouper filet for $5.95 . Excellent as always. The grouper is always, served hot and even though you only get 2 pieces, they are huge. Please see latest photo. The new owners have come out with new menus and they have added shrimp to their seafood specials for an extra $2.00, so for $7.95 you get Grouper & Shrimp. They are planning on having an open house soon, and are also getting WiFi and TV's.

Ordered deviled crab - had no crab meat; scallops were chopped into small bits and heavily battered. Service was pleasant until we complained about the food. Tea was good! :)

Food is good enough but restaurant is dirty inside and out. I can't believe they passed inspection.

Nice atmosphere. Wait staff was friendly and helpful. Salad bar is small but the individual items are very good. Basket of hush puppies were very tasty. Portions were hugh and the prices were reasonable. Was here three years ago and was very disappointed, never been back. I understand it's under new management. Definitely will be back now.

The food was just OK here. I loves the hush puppies and the sweet tea. The salad bar was small and sparse. I ordered the small fried scallop basket and Tuesday breading fell right off and the scallops had no real flavour. My husband had the country fried steak and I tried some of that; it was mushy and flavorless. Don't know if I will make a second trip. The wait staff was friendly though.

We had not been to York Seafood for 3-4 years although we used to get by here about once a month back in the 80s & 90s before tapering off to infrequent visits. We went with a group of 25 last night (Thur 8-13-15 at 6:30PM). I had read some recent reviews (post new management) and was doubtful about how the evening would go... ESPECIALLY for a group of TWENTY-FIVE! Upon arrival we learned that several servers had not come to work, AND there was another group due to arrive soon. OH MY... the parking lot was almost filled (at least 20-25 cars) when our group began arriving; the gravel parking area was full by the time our entire party arrived except for the very back grassy area. Luckily the early diners were beginning to leave. We passed about 10 waiting to pay on our way into the private room located at the front of the building (entrance is from the parking lot at the side although the front door still exists). I have to give GREAT PRAISE to the staff of servers that did show for work last night. Not only were they attentive to our needs & requests, the ordered drinks and hush puppies* arrived quickly, our orders were taken efficiently, and we were encouraged to begin going to the salad bar to prevent congestion as the other party arrived. TRUTH IS... our experience as a group was such that WE WOULD HAVE NEVER REALIZED another group ever came in if we had not been told they were coming on the same night. *Hush-puppies: The golden hush-puppies while tasty and chewy were a bit light... I actually prefer a very dark outer shell with CRUNCH a la Charleston's Hyman's or Mt. Pleasant's The Wreck. In all fairness though to York Seafood, I confess that I forced myself to stop at FIVE! Our group's food began coming out just as we were finishing our salads... AND ALL THE ORDERS WERE CORRECT. All the orders WERE EVEN HOT! NOTHING was SENT BACK to the kitchen. York Seafood has a very large number of choices/combinations possible... but I MUST SAY that the Yelp cost range of $31-60/person is RIDICULOUS... maybe total for a family of 3-4 big eaters complete with tea/coffee & dessert! The salad bar is not huge... there ARE NOT 30-50 items... maybe 20 fresh items (typical expected obvious necessities) that compliment a seafood meal. ALL ENTREES include the salad bar. Not found everywhere, there is roasted red peppers in addition to fresh green bell pepper strips & pickled pepperoncini. York Seafood offers their cole slaw (very good but different from most) on the salad bar rather than MAKING IT your ONE side choice with the meal... so you choose from FF, baked potato, or onion rings. Baked potatoes I observed were foil-wrapped, hot, and FLUFFY-textured when cut and popped open for buttering. I am an ONION RINGER... York Seafood surely must make their ORs in-house: big succulent onion rings still having some toothsome-texture AFTER FRYING. Well-battered and lightly browned... I prefer a bit browner, but these ORs were still delicious! Their Calabash-style shrimp are good... but with Calabash shrimp anywhere you get 50% batter and 50% shrimp. IF YOU LIKE more shrimp than batter, go with the GREEN SHRIMP! This has been MY PERSONAL FAVORITE at York Seafood since 1978! Lightly-battered tail-less shrimp (think gigantic "calabash") that are done to perfection... so tasty (and I have never had any that were over-cooked & rubbery). I wish their cocktail sauce had more of a horseradish bite, but it IS different from the ketchup. The tartar sauce is decent. IF you want TAIL-ON shrimp... order JUMBO fried & you get shrimp about 50% larger than the green shrimp complete with a handle making them finger-food instead of fork-food. I only heard one lady in the group comment that her flounder had a slightly "fishy" taste & she wished she had chosen a different entrée. Not bad for a group of 25 opinionated adults... although my hearing is not what it once was. We will soon be going back as a couple... NEW MANAGEMENT/OWNERS or not... the FRIED GREEN SHRIMP served at York Seafood is OUTSTANDING, and very few other seafood restaurants even offer this entrée choice! Oh BTW, YS also offers all their seafood BOILED... and BROILED... in addition to FRIED! In case anyone cares.
