Call me the patron saint of hole-in-the wall eateries, but I thoroughly enjoyed my meal at this ragged truck stop. It's ugly in there for sure, and the menu is small, but the food was quite good and I have no reason to suspect any health codes were violated (as suggested by a previous reviewer). Obviously not a date-night destination, but good for a Saturday afternoon if you're in the area.

Yummy yummy yummy great southern cooking for a great price!! Nice local cafe very friendly staff make you feel welcome & one of the family. The fried pickles are to die for!! Loved the country fried steak & tater tots. Also have great chopped steak & onions. Old school country style cafe only complaint they still have smoking section but it doesn't smell of smoke if you sit closer to the door. I'll be back for those pickles for sure!

If you are a fan of dirty hole in the wall bars till all hours of the night, then you'd be just fine rolling in here after one of those nights just like you never left the bar. Folks, this place is your quintessential hole-in-the-wall. Do NOT, I repeat do not go to the bathroom here. And if you thought for a minute you'd like some sun while you eat breakfast, you can, while you are in the smoking room. But if you are a non-smoker, you can sit in the dark and appreciate the fact that you can't see what's around you. The service was great. The ladies that work there seemed happy, willing to make sure you were always full on drinks, asked about the food - everything you'd expect. No fault here. The food wasn't bad at all. ....but they were OUT of PANCAKES? How does that happen? Here's the thing - it's really the only game in this area. So if you want breakfast and you want a decent one and you are right near here and you can't wait till you get up the road a bit more, go here, but if you can hold out (and hold out on the bathroom break) I might suggest to just move on.

Good old fashioned Southern cooking. Two lunch time buffets $15. Lots of local color. "Language you use in church is appropriate here." Fast. Husband said men's bathroom is rough. I didn't go into women's because of previous review. ... Rest area with beautiful lake view 3 miles north.

On a recent trip to the Georgia Aquarium, I stumbled on to this quaint (and let's be real, a little scary looking) diner. When on a 6 hour drive with a baby, you stop whenever and wherever you need to so as to avoid a screaming tot. So my phone told me there was food along a stretch of I-85 in the middle of Nowheresville SC. Actually it was Townsville. Literally right off the freeway (excellent time saver), the "cafe" looks like somewhere I would never ever go. My 9 year old was like "I am not going in there" but once inside (still a little scary) it was obvious this is the favorite (only?) eatery in these parts. Our waitress was really sweet even though it was obvious we were city folk just passing through, tattoos, kids and all. I had a fried chicken sandwich ($3.75- what!). It had the juiciest most flavorful tomatoes I have had all summer. My mom wondered if they were from someone's garden. The basket of fried pickles ($4) was tops. I didn't try this other stuff, but was told it was also excellent: burger, fried chicken, mac n cheese, and cole slaw. A good sign after eating at a greasy spoon diner: we stuffed ourselves but not one person felt crappy after... you know what I'm talking about. Can we talk for a moment about the bathroom? HOLY MOLY it was the scariest bathroom I have ever been in (including all bars ever in Oakland, SF and NYC). There was a squished... something... on the floor next to my feet. My brain jumped right to brown recluse (probably because of my recent opportunity to meet one of those scary fellas in my house) or perhaps a scorpion (are those in SC?). Anyways I was terrified of something getting me for those few moments of vulnerable captivity. Maybe the fire ants that attacked me moments before outside compounded this, but whatever. I'll just hold it next time.
