I got the chicken sandwich cheddar style. It wasn't put together all that well and if they meant nacho cheese instead of cheddar then they nailed it, that cheese was fun to dip my fries in. Which were waaay too salty. My husband got a hotdog with said nacho cheese all over it and bacon. He seemed pretty happy with it. The grilled onions on my sandwich were cold and kinda gross. I really love onions so it felt a little strange to be taking them off. I wish they had dipping sauces or something. Anyways, don't expect a healthy meal if you go here. Nothing was terrific but nothing was too gross.

Go there to get a milkshake. They are quality and tons of choices. The fruit ones usually have huge chunks of whatever flavor they are including the watermelon. Peach cobbler was particularly good. The rest of their food - meh. You get what you pay for and it is certainly cheap. You can get better fast food burgers and chicken lots of places.

Holy hell these burgers are tasty. Now you know food is good when the line is still long in the rain on Christmas Eve. On a visit to jolly ol Sumters we stopped here while making food shopping errands. The milk shake list is too expansive and original to list. If you can think about something good, they make a shake out of it-- egg nog, peaches, Banana pudding, fruits, candy, and more... I don't think they sell malts though, and if they don't they need to. That'd be the difference between great shakes and out of this world. They're super thick too... If you get a combo and expect a substantial amount of chilli- don't. They give you a shot glass (1 oz) "portion" [is that really a PORTION???] or chilli when you get the combo. It's pretty worthless. Nevertheless the chilli is tasty, but seriously, that size is a joke. The cajun fries were tasty and a good amount for a combo portion-- don't expect a heapful. They're pretty cheap on their sides, point blank. The drive thru service left a lot to be desired, but I didn't care. Food was tasty, and the milkshake was even better. love this place. #Yelp100

Stopped in here on our way out of town, prepping for a very long car ride. I got the steak style burger (A1 sauce, my favorite!) and my bf got the cheddar style. We both got combos, so I got fries and onion rings and he got quesadillas. Yep, you read that right. 2 quesadillas as a side. Since we had a super long trip, he figured it'd be the perfect snack after a couple hours. (He was right). At least that day, in that location, the burgers were dry. I don't mind a well-done burger when it's still juicy, but these felt like the patties had been around awhile. Also my onion rings were soggy. That's what dropped it down to 3 stars for me. What kept it afloat was the kind service and the shakes. There are a TON of options and I was thrilled to get a Snickers Malt to start my drive back. The shakes are THICK so grab a spoon before you leave!

This place really needs some help.. Went there for a family meal and not one person got what they ordered.. Then when I asked them to correct my order they acted like I was the one at fault and gave me grief... Its not that we asked them to change the menu every thing we ordered was on the menu...

Great quick pit stop, shakes are pretty incredible :) I'm not into fast food but this one is on the higher level of fast food restaurants.. I'd come back, atmosphere is pretty awesome too

I don't typically get excited about chain restaurants, but Cook Out is an exception (Smithfields being the other). My daughter, too, busted a gut when she heard they were building a Cook Out here, as it's been her favorite restaurant for a number of years. Cook Out is a NC chain that has taken off like wildfire, and they're now slowly starting to trickle into SC (this Sumter location is only the 5th in the state; even Cola doesn't have one!). They're not a master of any one variety, but a jack of all. I love being able to get a corn dog as one of the sides to my BBQ sandwich. And not only are the shakes good, but sometimes they go on sale!

One of the newer additions to Sumter, the Cookout is perfectly named-- lunch here is like having a meal in the backyard during a Fourth of July get together-- tasty food, plentiful portions, and there always seems to be a crowd. Burgers, hotdogs, fries, onion rings, Cheerwine, sweet tea and the best variety of shakes in town -- all at a price that won't break the bank. Clean, well staffed, family friendly and surprisingly fast service even by fast food standards, this is a great place for a quick, cheap and satisfying meal.

Food was pretty good. I thought it was funny how they have a lot of military things on the walls but dont offer any military discount. Kind of slap in the face.

Apparently this is the place to be at lunch time. Parking lot is always slam packed. Good cheap fast food. I had a burger and fries which were yummy. They have a bizillion milkshake flavors. I had a peach cobbler milkshake that was good, they are huge! It's nice & clean inside. They have tea & cheerwine (plus more). Two drive thru windows.

this a loose care free style fast food. It could be better organized and the food could be better. If your looking at speeding up your road to diabetes then try out all shakes.

I love Cook Out. Great amount of food for a good price. The burgers don't taste like typical frozen fast food burgers. You can get a burger and choose two sides for 5 dollars and change. Among those sides: Corn dog, quesadilla (beef or chicken), 5pc chicken nuggets, fries, hushpuppies, onion rings, chili, etc. You can also customize your burger for an additonal .60 or so. My personal favorite is the cook out burger with slaw, chili, mustard. If you go around lunch, drive through is the best option. They stay packed from 12-1:30!
