Drinks can be pricey without a special. You can bring your dogs on the patio, always a plus. Nice food selection. Nice bartenders. We are tall people, bar stools seem a bit short. on a busy night parking can be a bit challenging. Free Wi-Fi!

5 stars is for the bar atmosphere, bartenders, frequent live music and overall bada**ness of this place. It's the best bar in Summerville and it has it all. If you want small time monday nights, got it. Brunch on Sunday, got it. Packed Friday nights, got it. Great bar, great service. 4 Stars for food...well, because it is mostly bar food with some limited exceptions.

I have been a fairly frequent patron of Montreux since it opened and honestly have never had a bad thing to say until today. I went with a group of 8 friends and as we took turns placing our orders with our waitress she could barely get through an order without saying "that will be an up charge" .... It was out of hand. I ordered the chicken kabobs which came with rice, I can't eat grains so I asked to have a vegetable instead... I was "up charged" $2 to REPLACE (not add to) the rice with three, THREE asparagus spears. The food is always very good but I have a hard time continuing to give my business to an establishment that gratuitously nickels and dimes you at every turn. So yes, the food is good, but don't ask for any changes or exceptions...they'll be charging for ketchup or to use the restrooms soon...

I was in town from Massachusetts with friends that I hadn't seen in years. My father passed away unexpectedly two weeks before this. My friends and I were there from like 7pm-2am. I was using my debit card to pay for my drinks and to purchase anything for my friends. At about 10pm I decided to ask about my check and see where I was money wise. Everything looked accurate. Few minutes later, bartender asked to see my card again, he couldn't find my tab. I gave him the card checked my bank account, it was already charged! To make a long story short. A few days later, I had 3 transactions from that night. Someone else signed my name to my tab when they closed out, our last names were similar, the other person didn't check the receipt name before signing it. I WENT BACK to the bar, after speaking to the mgr. got my money back. It was their mistake... Next time I go out, I'm taking cash! Great bartender and manager though.

This is one of the cleaner and more spacious bar and grills in Summerville. Just off of Main Street it is a popular evening hot spot for DJs, bands, drinks and food. Its biggest advantage is the spaciousness. The staff is sometimes a little limited for the size of the bar area but a little patience never hurt.

Best brunch I've ever had. The food is incredible! My favorite dish-The Hangover- is a spicy dish that includes poached egg, grits, ham, and hot sauce. An unusual and delicious combination. Most the dishes are under $10 with considerable portions. The drinks specials are cheap even by miserly standards: $2 mimosas and bloody Marys. There is even a Bloody Mary bar that allows you to fix your Bloody Mary just the way you like it. A hidden gem of Summerville.

Awesome burger! This place has a nice bar and good food. Busy but not overly busy to where you wait forever for a table. Burger and other food was perfect. Definitely will return time and time again.

Montreux is a fun place to go for a night out- especially when you're downtown or you don't want to go to a chain restaurant. They have an outdoor area with an outdoor bar and offer live music, but there's also a stage and some TVs inside for watching sporting events. The outdoor patio area has TVs as well as cornhole. So far, I've tried a few food items like the tacos, fries, and sweet potato fries, as well as a couple appetizers. The food is pretty good, although some of the meals are a little pricey for bar food in Summerville. The portions are big, though and we've always had good service. If you just want a snack with your drink, they offer a lot of sides and items a la carte that might fit the bill without breaking the bank, too. On my last visit, I had fish tacos and they were excellent! The soft shell taco had plenty of fish and a spicy sauce along with lettuce and tomato. I wouldn't always think to order tacos somewhere like Montreaux, but they're really good here and only $4 per taco (again, that and an order of fries makes for a great small meal with your drink). My favorite drink is the Dragon Berry cocktail along with the Orangutan cocktail. The drinks here are always cold, delicious, and strong.

This place is awesome... I hope no one finds out... I go here with co-workers and my wife at least once a week. It has a cool atmosphere, live music, and an awesome outside bar and patio area. This sounds cliche, but it's the type of place where the staff know everyone. The food is always good. You can tell that this isn't your average bar kitchen. They have a gourmet menu, and it's evident that who ever is running the kitchen is a pro level cook. Without the amazing kitchen, this place would be 4 stars... To quote a friend, I've never had a bad meal here... Please don;t tell anyone how awesome this place is... I'd like to keep it as low key as possible..

The food is great but the service is horrible. 10 minute wait just to start our order, food came out at a decent pace then the long wait just to get our server to get the bill.

Love the food and the atmosphere. They have the best veggie burger in the tri-county area.

I really, really wanted this place to be good because the atmosphere is awesome. I could hang out in a place like this for hours. To be fair, we only had nachos but didn't dare order anything else for fear of complete desiccation. I had a bloody mary and it was SO SALTY I almost couldn't drink it, I actually felt nauseous. Then the nachos came and it was a legit salt lick. We ate them because we were so, so hungry but the roof of my mouth was all burny and weird (like when you eat to many sour patch kids...or too much salt)... bizarre. Also, they change extra for seasonings on things. (????) No thanks.

This place could be sooo much fun, if the staff wasn't soo rude! I've been in here a couple of times, once for dinner and the food was ok, but it's more of a bar to me. So I've been a couple times on the weekend and I always get worst attitudes from the bartenders! Last night we were told we needed to hurry with our drink order bc there were other customers! Also last call was never made even though they claimed it was! And they are always understaffed so it takes 30 minutes to get a drink and then they r rude about it! I won't be giving them anymore of my money seeing as I am a bartender myself and this really aggravates me! They have live music giving them 1 star and a newly renovated nice patio giving them 2 stars! But that's it, one nice bartender that I know doesn't save them from the other 10 terrible ones!

Sunday brunch was delicious! The Charleston Benedict was amazing: two eggs atop 2 crab cakes with asparagus and tiny diced home fries.... Yummy. Also enjoyed a side of grits that were far from bland, dressed with a perfect amount of cheese on top. Prices were decent- two ate for under $30 including tip. Cheaper than brunch place down the street and had a better menu... Inside is like a bar, but not too loud and obnoxious. All high top seating. Would definitely go back.

No good. Food was mediocre, service was okay, and didn't feel clean at all. The table wasn't cleaned off very good and there flies buzzing all around our table and food.. Also we ate inside for lunch. What tops it all off though are the big bold signs before you enter that state "No firearms allowed" This is AMERICA DAMNIT! And I have a licence to carry my firearm where I see fit and your telling me I can't?!? No Go ghost rider. Big no fly zone for me from now on.

A little on the generic side, but anything in Summerville had a small town feel. The staff is pleasant and attentive. The draft selection is adequate. The menu is a bit pricey for the atmosphere.

This is one of the best burgers in the area, and definitely a favorite place of ours to go :-) I usually get the Elk or the Beef burger, and my husband changes it up depending on what's on special but he often gets a beef burger as well! They have a great beer selection and their customizable burger selection is great - you can select different meats (beef, elk, veggie, portabella and chicken), cheeses (cheddar, blue cheese, Swiss, feta, Parmesan, pimento, American, etc), and lots of different topping like jalapeños, bacon, coleslaw, peppers, guacamole, and the list goes on! You can also choose your type of bun between pretzel, kaiser roll, onion, wrap or grilled challah. You can definitely make yourself a delicious burger no matter what you like :-) If you're going for dessert their Apple Dapple is delicious! :-) Definitely recommend this place in downtown Summerville, it's a great restaurant for everyone including the kids! :-)

Found myself in downtown Summerville today for the first time in my life. Considering I missed breakfast and lunch, I decided to check this place out for an early dinner. The place has more of a bar vibe than a restaurant vibe, but that doesn't stop me. Some of my favorite meals have come from bars. I was impressed with the beers available and if I hadn't had so many of them last night at an event, I would have had a couple... maybe next time. We saw someones Caesar salad and it was enormous. Neither of us needed that much roughage so we decided to split one as an appetizer. As a nice touch, the server had it brought out on two separate plates for us... bonus points. My friend ordered the Chicken Kabob with a chilli teriyaki glaze on a bed of rice. I tried it and the vegetables were cooked perfectly and there was plenty of chicken. The glaze had a little too much heat for her but I enjoyed it. I ordered the Chicken Schnitzel covered in a mushroom gravy with rice and asparagus. I was already eying it, but after the waiter suggested it as a recommendation, I was locked in. There was a great ratio of chicken to rice to veggies. I enjoyed it having the chicken, rice, gravy, and mushrooms all mixed up together for the perfect bite too. The food wasn't gourmet but also wasn't too pricy either. I was impressed with the overall value. What put them over the top for me was our excellent server. He was the perfect blend of genuinely nice and attentive without being overbearing. Montreux is worth a try and I'm now wishing a had one or two of those beers - Dragons Milk on tap... count me in.

We popped in on a Monday night to hear the Jazz, but it was canceled because the game was on! I was disappointed because I was visiting from out of town and didn't get a change to see the band with my friend! But it looked awesome inside and was so clean!

They really need to get a chef in their kitchen. Their food is comparable to Applebee's, which is unfortunate. They aren't mixologists so don't expect fine cocktails -just your basics. Wine is cheap but it's decent. Age varies. Weekends its 21-50s. Theres pool, live music, an outside bar, corn hole, life size jenga and a beer pong table. Casual attire.

So. I went to this place with some friends and it came highly recommended. I have not been all that impressed. The food is your typical greasy bar food. The decor is less to be desired and let's not talk about their bathrooms. But I like to focus on the positives. They do have a nice selection of beers and pool tables in the back and a decent outdoors area where you can play corn hole or just grab a table and a bucket of ice cold beers and hang with friends. It may be more your scene, so I say give it a try.

We eat Brunch here almost every Sunday after church. I think we've ordered everything off of the menu at least once, my favorite is the eggs Benedict with grits instead of the home fries, and a $2 Bloody Mary!

One of the regular places we like to go to here in Summerville for eats, drinks and some live music. Inside is really nice, lots of dark woods and brick. The bar itself is very different, as there is a front end of the bar, a nice place to sit outside on the side of the building. The back end of the bar has pool tables, darts, and another stage for a band. Alot of night they will have one band in the front and another one in the back, which is great cause you will end up liking one or the other band. Outside in the back, they have lots of tables set up to sit and relax and drink. You can play cornhole (Tournaments are on Tues nights) a ping pong table, and giant jenga. Always something entertaining there at night. During the day, its not odd at all to see a family in there eating lunch or brunch. Its a very diversified place. The food is good - apps - definitely go with the nachos. those things will feed 4 people. I love the chicken flatbread and the chicken salad sandwich. The club and the chicken wrap are also very good. The burgers are some of the best around. They have a wide range of bottle and tap beer. And they love to make up some new shots. Ask them for a 'raspberry cheescake shot' or a blueberry cheesecake shot. Both are delicious, and not what you would think they are. Its is a great, fun place to go, eat drink and be merry. The only downfall to this place is are the servers. they really dont care if they serve you or not, most of the time you are better off ordering at the bar, this includes food or drinks. Also - its happened to our group there more than once - the servers arent paying attention to whos tab they are adding things to, we have ended up with a huge bill before bc the table next to ours ordered shots and the server put it on ours not theirs. The server refused to take them off our bill and we ended up having to talk to the manger about it. Thats the only reason I rate it a 3 instead of a 4-5. Other than that - this place is a good little hangout.

3.5 for sure. Fun little place. I went tonight, Monday night, and there was no one else in the restaurant. I ordered the chicken kabobs and they were pretty good. It seems like it would be a fun place to hang out and have a drink. There was a band that was playing. They were pretty good, and I felt bad that there were not many people to listen. I would go back sometime!

    (3)
  • Christy M.

Honestly, just okay. It's not bad food but it never leaves me thinking I really NEED to come back. I got the chicken kabobs in a search for something not too heavy. They had a special that looked good, but it was sold out which I found out after I asked to order it. Anyway, not bad but if it wasn't close I wouldn't make the effort to go here. The hubs got a burger which he described as "ok."

Literally sitting at the bar now, just ate lunch. Ate the shrimp, and smoked chicken tacos and they were capital D divine. My friend got a burger that she customized herself and couldn't put it down. Bartender is nice and friendly, he showed us the weekend brunch menu and I can't wait to come back. I'm also excited to try trivia one night soon. Beer selection is decent, and full selection of liquor. Atmosphere is bar-like but filled with happy patrons. Overall, impressed, and in the words of Arnold, "I'll be back."

Finally made it up to Montreux today and wasn't disappointed. The place reminded me of bars from back home in IL. Hard wood floors, brick walls inside, and a big long bar down one side. You can tell that place has been the scene of some major jammin parties, so I will have to go back for some Fri or Sat night fun sometime! We were having a really early lunch so it was quiet during our visit. Server was really nice and everyone enjoyed their food. I had the shrimp and grits which has a great flavor. Only hiccup for me was the shrimps were overcooked a bit and I would have liked it to come out pipping hot so it would have stayed warm the entire meal. Otherwise, great first visit and will definitely return.

Not 2nd amendment tolerant. Went to Montreaux at the recommendation of friends but could not enter as they have a gun free zone sign on their door. Their food and service might be great or it might stink but I'll never know. I refuse to give my business to those who don't accommodate those who like the Constitution (all of it).

I stopped in to Montreux last night, a little after 9pm, kinda on a whim with the fiancee. We had a Restaurant.com coupon I had purchased for the place several, several years ago (they graciously still accept them). It wasn't packed, but almost. We were really fortunate to snag a hightop table in the front window. After about 6-7 minutes of us sitting down, we had to snag a bartender to see if we could get table service, but everything was uphill after that. We ordered some beers, and asked the server for some recommendations. He pointed us to the salmon croquettes for an app, which we ordered out of curiosity. We also got a patty melt (special that evening) and a smoked chicken sandwich with in-house smoked chicken, jalapeño mayo and crispy fried onions. I think the star of the night were the salmon croquettes. They are basically salmon cakes (think crab cake) set in a thin creamy dill sauce with cucumbers and tomatoes. It was delicious. Really surprising for a bar, but well executed. The smoked chicken sandwich was also delicious, with the jalapeño mayo really kicking it up a notch. It wasn't spicy really, just very flavorful. My patty melt was pretty good, but I probably wouldn't get it again. As we were walking in, I noticed the sign on the door listing the daily "special". Wednesdays happen to be ladies night, $6 burger night, AND... rock 'n roll bingo night. Yes, you read that right, Rock 'n Roll Bingo. It's free to play, and a ton of fun. You get a card, some placeholders and listen to a series of songs the DJ plays. You have to identify the artist of the song. Cheating is 100% encouraged and you will be punished for incorrectly yelling Bingo! Not sure what the punishment entails, and I don't want to find out! The atmosphere is very chill, nice decor, with exposed brick walls, nice, comfortable furniture mostly all high tops but some couches as well. I really appreciated that there was no one smoking inside. I'm not sure if they do this voluntarily or if Summerville is smoke free now, but either way, thank you for being a no-smoking establishment! There appeared to be a larger room in the back with some pool tables, but I didn't venture away from our table to check it out.

Stumbled upon this local spot while on a drive around the greater Charleston area. What a find! Friendly staff and mouthwatering food. Farm to table local ingredients. Shrimp and grits are second to none.

I'll go ahead and give it to Montreux, it is one of the best bars in Summerville, not that there is much to choose from. The setting is pretty awesome. I usually go on the weekends, but it has something to suit just about anyone. You go on a journey from the moment you walk in the door, until you go out to the back patio. Up front is where the main bar and tables are located. On the weekends, there is a DJ and it can appeal to the younger trendy crowd. Continue back through a doorway, and you are in the live music room. The cool thing about it is that you can't hear the music in the other room, regardless of which room you are in. The back room has a smaller bar and a pool table and Foosball. Every band I have heard play there has been awesome and always rocks the house. Continue on out the back doors, and you step out into a huge patio. More like a renovated parking lot, and it has plenty to offer. There are plenty of tables and chairs, but just wait... there is beer pong! And corn hole! And a hugeass Jenga game! I'm not really a fan of the big, loud, overcrowded bar scene, but I cannot deny that I have had a good time every time I go. But seriously, it gets too crowded on the weekends. The bartenders work their asses off, and I have to give them due credit, but they can only do so much. Being the functional alcoholic that I am, I really don't like waiting a long time to get another drink. The crowd and wait time is the only reason I dropped a star from the rating. However, I did swing by for a late afternoon snack one day, and got personal and friendly service from the bartender and the food was pretty good. Montreux is really a place to go to for the party atmosphere at night.

Great atmosphere. Can't beat this place for live bands . Cook/chef cares about his food even if the menu is a little "old school bar". Fresh ingredients and honest portions.
