I would give 3 1/2 starts if I could. It's a solid choice for a moderately priced meal. We came for a Sunday lunch, prices are in the $6 or $7 range, plus beverages. Sushi costs more. They will customize just about anything on the menu to suit your taste, which is great when you want something extra spicy. I had the udon noodles, and the wife had the pad Thai. Both were generous in portion size, served hot, and quite flavorful. Service was a bit spotty, but adequate. Worth the price paid.

When I arrived at red bowl, they asked me to have a seat. Not an issue, except for the empty house. After watching the hostesses take Togo orders and checking their phones, one asked "Did you want to be seated?" After being seated we ordered. The food was quick and delicious. Our server was nice and polite. The only reason I give this place four stars is because of the hostess staff.

Red bowl is kind of like PF Changs but a little bit cheaper especially for lunch. They have a variety of lunch specials that includes either an egg roll or spring roll. Today I got the beef lo mein which is excellent to me it tasted really well. The spring roll at this location didn't seem too good it lacked crispiness and it was a little on the cold side. I usually like their sushi but I didn't try it at this location so I can't comment on how good it is or not. I would have given 4 stars but our service was not all that great. If your not happy to be there and take orders then send me someone who can help me with a smile on their face id hate to think I was bothering you by letting you do your job. Jeez! Anyway if you find a good server at this restaurant I'm sure you'll have a great experience!

Visiting Spartansburg & wanted sushi. Sister suggested Red Bowl. Had Mandy as a server tonight & she is awesome! Food is good, not great, just good. Sushi rolls are very skimpy. Asked for a different type of roll & let chefs be creative. It appeared the management had tight constraints on what they would allow the chefs to do. If they would be a little more generous, I think they would have more satisfied customers.

Flavorless food, misleading special pricing. Server didn't know the menu, or the ingredients. Unfortunately we had a party of 10 so the tip was already figured at 18%.

Decent food. We got some sushi that was ok, not great but not horrible. The ginger salad dressing was pretty tasty. The service was pretty good as well. If in a pinch in Spartanburg I would stop by again if hungry for sushi.

The Red Bowl restaurant at the Westgate Mall is over crowded and the environment is slightly loud and awkward, once you walk inside. The manager/boss of the restaurant and waitress is also not as friendly. A freaking "have a good day" or "thank you", would kindly suffice. Anyways, the food was pretty good. I was hungry so it made it okay for the taste. For the happy hour price I can't complain. It's not top class sushi but it's "you get what you paid for" type ordeal. I only go there for the happy hour. But overall I hate the customer service!

I enjoy this place quite a bit. It's always friendly staff when I come here, and the sushi is bomb. Half off every day 3-6:30. I got the Pacific fried roll and the Phoenix Maki. Very delicious. Got fried noodles for free for appetizer. The duck sauce is good. The drinks are pretty good too. I tried the hot sake. It was interesting. I wouldn't drink it though. The bailey's on rocks was good. Tiny draft selection. 4/5 overall.

I understand they just opened a few week ago, but seriously, the menu says they take special requests. It states, "Please don't hesitate to make a customized request", yet they were unable to fullfil my request. I got House Fried Rice, I asked our waitress if the cooks could remove the carrots from the fired rice. She said the rice was already "made" and the could not remove the carrots. In addition, their sweet tea was horrible, not sweet enough. However, despite this the service was petty good, and our waitress did her best to ensure we were happy. My friend got their Sushi, a spicy tuna roll and a tuna roll. He said the sushi was great, among some of the best he has had. My fried rice was about average. The food arrived in about 25 minutes, they were pretty busy. I will definitely go back, and will update this review if my experince is any better.

I love this place. The atmosphere is amazing, the staff are fun and friendly , and the food has always left me coming back for more. I eat out a lot, and Red Bowl is usually atleast a once a week thing for me. They have great specials (food and drinks). I would definitely recommend this place to anyone, whether your in a hurry for quick but filling lunch, or an evening out with family or your significant other.

Red bowl has the best sushi in spartanburg hands down. They're half off sushi happy hour from 3:00-6:30 EVERYDAY is ridiculous! Really delicious sushi for half off, been dozens of times and still makes me smile every time. Since I mostly go for the sushi, I can't say a lot about the food, but it's pretty good, didn't blow my socks off but certainly good quality and good portions. Staff is very friendly, and the place is very clean. Easily one of the best if not the best Asian fusion place in the burg.

I give this place three stars not because of the service or because of the food per-say. I give it three stars because in my opinion it wasn't that unique. The food was good and flavorful but honestly it tasted like something I could get at any Chinese restaurant in town and it was a little expensive. If you wanted a good nightlife atmosphere for regular old Chinese take out food then it's a great place to be. I had fun and the food was good but again highly priced. The potstickers had a punch of flavor and were crispy, that was a plus. However, the Vietnamese spring roll was not the best I have had and I have had a lot of them. All in all the experience was good and so was the food. I really should have gotten the sushi though....maybe another time.

Half off sushi every day between 3 and 6. Best sashimi I've had! Happy hour specials and they serve alcohol on Sundays! Try the Asian style bloody mary! The bento box is a great option. The fried calamari and bang bang shrimp appetizers are a must. There are many items on the menu that I've yet to try but plan to asap! The staff recognize us when we enter and always make us feel welcome.

Went here on a Thursday evening. Service was speedy. Food was hot and plentiful. Associates were friendly and polite. Don't let the location, inside of the mall fool you the inside is nice and the bar is as well! I had my order to go!

OK so there's a lot of bad reviews here. I'll tell you why. It is in a mall! What did you expect. Alright now to my review. Service was fine, not too slow or fast (but that could mean nothing, i was there a 2pm) Decor is a bit tacky. I guess they are going for a cool club feel, but it comes out lame. Now the reason this place is Meh. Poor qualtiy of the sushi. I have made musch better, and im not a sushi chef. They where tiny, falling apart, and had almost no rice or filling. The price is moderate and fine. Don't dismiss this place, just don't expect fine dinning.

Don't read those other reviews, I don't know if management changed or if they took those reviews to heart, but I am obsessed with this place. To start off we have never had a server that was not exceedingly polite. The greeters are a sometimes iffy depending on how busy they are, but I could care less about that. The food is fantastic, especially the sushi. We have gone to half a dozen sushi restaurants in Spartanburg and Greenville, and this is easily top 2! The prices are fair on a regular day but if you add in the half price sushi and appetizers from 3-6:30 it's a steal! We got 4 rolls, 2 orders of sashimi tuna, crab Rangoon, and a beer all for $30, that is unheard of. It is extremely nice looking on the inside, I almost forgot it was attached to the mall, it looks like a stand alone restaurant. If you are going to base everything off a review, please take mine into consideration and try it. I've learned that not every restaurant boils down to a few year old reviews, and this place is way better than those give it credit for.

Horrible! It took over an hour for the food to get to us. The food was cold and the sushi was stinky. Unfortunately, the manager wouldn't help us. Pretty sure he is the problem. Our waitress tried to help but was told not to by the manager. Poor customer service.

I'm was very disappointed. I was so excited that Spartanbug was getting a Red bowl because I had ate at one in Charlotte and really loved their sushi. I read on the website and in the paper that they had Happy Sushi Hour between 4-6:30. It's half price sushi!! Yayyy! The waitress stated that the owner was not honoring the half price sushi hour. He said it was a mistake in both the paper and on the website. I even talked to the owner and he gave me some big explanation but needless to say I was not happy. I felt he should honor what the website and paper stated. Oh well, big disappointment!!!

Unlike the other reviews, I had a great experience here. The decor is not "tacky", I thought it was cool and modern. The service was good and everyone was friendly and attentive. My husband and I went for happy hour and had half price sushi. The sushi was great! Very tasty and properly portioned (not too small but not huge). Their calamari is also very good!

This place doesn't deserve to be in business. The manger is a sexist and very verbally abusive to his staff. No man should ever talk to a woman the way he talks to the women that are employed there. He talks down to them, be littles them, cusses them and will make them cry. This will all happen right on the floor with people eating because he frankly does not care. He embarrasses these women and puts them through an emotional roller coaster. This review has nothing with the food or the service. This review is based off how the manager, "Mark" is his name, treats the female staff. It's just plain wrong!! Don't give this restaurant your business! Do not condone these actions!! It's time we as people stand up and say this isn't right. Just imagine if it were your wife, daughter, mother or some other important lady in your life that this man was talking that way to. How would you feel? What would you do?? Don't support this type of behavior by eating there. This place deserves to fail to show that these actions will not be tolerated. Do yourself a favor and find another place to eat! The reason it gets one star is because I can't give it zero stars! I'm a man by the way and it needs to be known that Mark the manager is verbally abusive and a sexist.

Poor service. Sat down right away but waited 15 minutes and not one person asked us what we wanted to drink. Servers walking around, some wrapping silverware so we just left. We will not go back. They need Willie T., Restaurant Stakeout, to set them straight. We decided to go to the one in Greenville. Ate there twice with no complaints

All these negative reviews are fake. Try it yourself and create your own opinion. my wife and I go out with our son to Red Bowl every week. We drive 30 minutes each way and pass other sushi restaurants to get there. Mark, the manager, is extremely friendly and not at all as described by these fake reviews written by what looks like bitter ex employees who got fired for being bad servers. Half off sushi is what we go for and it does not let us down.

The growing pains reported by earlier reviews were just that, growing pains. Eaten here twice and both times were great. Reasonable prices for the level of food and good service.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
