I first defied the greatness that is Monster subs from my co-worker. From outside it really doesn't look like much... I travel out to Spartanburg a few times a year for business and have a short list of restaurants to hit while I am out there. Monster subs has made the list after today! The krakken and the terminator subs are amazing. The regular sub is huge and was packed with meat and cheese - just excellent. I agree with some of the others, decor was questionable... could have used a soda fountain instead of bottles, but with a giant delicious sub like the terminator who cares. Will be back next time I am in the city for sure.

The food is really good. My favorite sandwich is the Reuben, loaded with meat and on super soft bread. I usually get my food to go because the inside seating is awkward. Not a great place to go sit and eat, but I do suggest getting something to go!

If you are looking for authentic subs reminiscent of Philly or NYC then Monster is your place. The menu is Italian with a local flair if you can believe that. I was immediately impressed when I saw prosciutto, cappicola, fresh mozzarella, pastrami and corned beef on the menu. Everything is fresh with friendly staff and quick service. Food definitely worth the price.

The best subs around! You'd have a hard time finding a better sandwich in Philadelphia. The right bread, great meat, done right !

One word...fresh!! Great service with attention to detail. On more expensive side, yet worth it for the quality u get. A regular is quite enough I would say and cuts ur expense almost by half.

So the hot subs are put in the microwave? Even Jersey Mikes that has a line out the door at lunch throws the chicken and steaks on a grill. Microwave made the chicken chewy. I had the Caprese but no tomatoes and hardly any balsamic. I'll give it another try, but will stick to a cold sub. Tough to mess that up.

Finally an Italian Sub that's a real sub!!!!!! I didn't have to tell them to add or remove anything. For all you Northerners - you know a sub isn't just a sandwich. We make homemade subs like people make homemade pasta , pizza etc. We put a lot of time into the ingredients and the proper prep. I had my first bite of this sub and thought my mom made it for me. Holy mother of subs it was simply perfect. I almost cried foodie tears. The bread - mamma Mia it is amazing! The meats - are not sliced thickly and are not chewy - the meat is all very thinly sliced , but thickly layered. EXACTLY how we make ours. I WILL be back here and will be telling all my family they have to try this place too. I thought I walked back into NJ.

Let me start by saying I HATE SUBWAY. I'm always on the search for independent sub sandwich places I worked for a place that made a pretty good sandwich in the day. This place has a menu that features hot or cold subs, and New York Style Deli Sandwiches. I selected the #6 Kracken. Excellent choice. Everything was fresh and the bread was made that day. Anytime you find a place that Proscuitto, Cappicola and Fresh Mozzarella on the menu, you know somebody knows what they are doing behind the offerings. What's neat about this place is the have a few 80's era stand up video games. I was there just before close, so I did not get the chance to play any. Maybe next time.

Excellent subs! The best sandwich I've had on a roadtrip. The regular size was plenty for an average appetite. They had great fresh bread and a good selection of hot sauces. The decor is minimal but reflects the name. Everything was clean and tables were promptly wiped off when guests left. The staff was nice. The only drawback was not being able to get a glass of water. They only offered bottled beverages.

i was really hyped about going to get a sandwich that was prepared by owners who were from my home town of nyc. in nyc, when you order a pastrami sandwich on rye, that's what you get, a humugus sandwich with so much meat, you can actually make two more sandwiches. i ordered 3 pastrami sandwiches on rye, which was supposed to come with swiss cheese. what i received was 3 pastrami sandwiches with no swiss cheese and one sandwich also came with a long strand of blond hair!!!!!! when i called to to complain about the hair, what i got was, oh there is no one here with blonde hair. i wonder where i got it???? since my sandwich was wrapped and encased in sandwich wrap paper and taped closed!!!!! the two employees making the sandwiches were both caucasian with long hair, who were not wearing standard head coverings, but were wearing wool caps(dah) with the hair showing on both side of their heads. whether the hair was blond, sandy or green, it was on my damned sandwich, which i immediately threw in the garbage!!!!! the person i spoke with never offered to replace my sandwich, or give me a refund.which at this point i would never accept a replacement, because i do not eat hair!!!!!! i am really disappointed, i thought i had found some part of home right here in sc, boy was i let down. i lost my freaking appetite for this place, and i didn't get to enjoy it. never ever going back, subway here i come, damn, damn, damn.

BeSt subs I have ever had. The meat is quality boars head piled high. It's literally bigger than your mouth. The buns are fresh the people are awesome. I recommend the kraken for those who like a spice.

NO other place can compare when it comes to an excellent sandwich! They have the best subs in town and personally I think they have the authentic Jersey sandwiches nailed. You can tell they use only the best cuts of meat and the freshest of vegetables. I recommend you give their cannoli a try as well! Delish!

Very good sub shop. Blows Subway and Sub Station out of the water. I have had cheesesteaks, meatball, and chicken Parmesan here and they are great. My only recommendation would be to add a fountain sodas. Cans and bottle only are a bummer and expensive. We always take our sandwiches to go and don't buy drinks or chips.

We were on our way to Hendersonville and wanted a quick sandwich for lunch. We split a monster club and in all actuality could have split the regular one. The sub was delicious! Very fresh. We would gladly come back.

What a gem of a place! These subs are AMAZING. The bread is fresh, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, and the deli meats are top notch!

Best sub I have had in years. Bread was fresh, subs were huge and packed full of meat. I ordered the monster Kraken, but could only eat half of it. It has a real good kick to it as well. We will be coming back. My subway days are over. Finally someone makes a real sub again!!!!

Best subs in town! I had a Philly cheese steak and it was great.

As a person who normally hates subs, I was more than surprised. Absolutely delicious, wonderful (super friendly too) service. Will definitely be going back often! Probably the best thing to happen in Spartanburg in a long time.

I and my wife have eaten there quite a few times , always been excellent. Better than Publix subs.

Terrible! I got a microwaved cheesesteak that took all 5 people to organize in 10 minutes. Not professional at all. There are always excuses for the lack of this or that, especially their beer license. Check their facebook page. Full of excuses! I wasted over $9.00 on a microwaved sub that was sub-par to Subway in my opinion. I was the only customer at the time to boot. They seem to want to portray the Italian-American food thing, but, they are failing miserably! I would love to have my money back!!!

We stopped here on the way to the beach and yelp of course led us here... I had the pastrami and corn beef new York sub and it's the first sub outside of new York that was worthy of calling itself new York sub! It was stacked and delicious very soft tender meat, perfect! The boys had a philly cheesesteak and a Cuban they loved both of their sandwiches. It came out very quickly and when I saw the stacked sandwich I was so happy. All the staff was very friendly and welcoming. The prices were great for what we got no doubt! We plan on stopping here on the way back it was so good.:) they even gave us cheesecake haven't tried it yet bevause I was so full but I'm sure it's delicious, I'll let yall know! So worth stopping!!

Come to this place if you want a SANDWICH that is a meal. Had the Chipotle Chicken Panini. After a quick 2 minutes from placing my order I received a hot sub-sized, or Monster sized Panini. Despite what the menu say, my tongue tells me that the generously proportioned chicken breast is cooked in a mesquite Chipotle sauce, melted cheddar, and bacon, wrapped in a warm, flaky roll with grill marks. The Chipotle sauce has just enough bite to warm the back of your throat, and make your nose wet, but not too much that it causes you to run for the nearest fire hydrant. The options for drinks and chips are minimal, and for obvious reasons. With a star this big, everything else seems miniscule and tiny. It's like how Godzilla views people. Tiny. The name of the place says it all. Monster Subs. Large, delicious, subs/sandwiches/paninis with wholesome ingredients, carefully crafted to annihilate your hunger.

Came here to pick up a sub before going to the airport. Great idea!! I got the monster size- ate half- and took half to go for the plane. They wrapped it well and out a lollipop in the bag. The turkey and cheese sub was delicious. For the sub I got the works: lettuce, tomato, onion, oil and vinegar, and spices. The bread is chewy and fresh. The turkey was not pressed, the cheese fresh. Next time I'll order extra lettuce and cheese because I like more. There are cool things to read posted on the walls to amuse yourself while you eat. A variety of drinks and chips to choose from as well as a TV. Service was excellent and friendly. This is in my permanent Spartanburg rotation!!

Family run business that is true NY style sub shop!! This place will not disappoint you, no matter what you order. We had pastrami and corn beef, could have swore I was at Katzs in NY!! Cuban is authentic and the pork on it is amazing. Philly cheese steak is ridiculous. Can't say enough, just go eat here!!!

I had the Italian panini. The meat and bread were good but I will get a cold sub next time.

  • Craig P.

Good: The bread was fresh and good. There was a ton of meat and the meat was tasty. Bad: The panini was just a sub slapped in a panini maker. Cold in the middle. No fountain drinks. I would go back for take out and cold subs only. Did not even have tea unless it was bottled. This is Carolina. Need tea on ice.

My favorite sub place in SC. I always get the kraken and it's always delicious. Everyone here is super friendly and they remember what I always order. My only suggestion is a drink fountain rather than just canned and bottled sodas.

Monster makes one heckuva sandwich. The meats are really tasty, the cheese is good, the bread is top-notch, and the sauces and such just make me smile. This is pretty close to where I work, so whenever I can I try to go over there for lunch, although it's not much of a sit and dine place. Fun, eclectic decor, helpful staff. Now, as others have said, lose the canned cokes and get a fountain. Thanks and see you next week.

Excellent subs! I found their BBQ sauce to be the prefect combination of sweet and spicy. I have a feeling these people will go far with this great food. It's not too expensive. My only gripe is that they sell drinks in a can instead of a drink fountain. No weird looking people, didn't smell bad, nothing was sticky, and the food was prompt. Take notes most other restaurants in Spartanburg.
