Recommended by many because of the ribs so we both got platters that included them. They were very good fall off of the bone tender. J had the chicken and it was cooked perfectly. I had the steak medium rare and it was under cooked but not enough to send back. Server was kind of annoying and kept saying "having said that. .." between each comment. He disappeared and when he did get things for us it took a while before he returned. Great ocean view. We went to the outdoor bar for after dinner drinks. Sat and relaxed on the patio looking at the ocean. A great end to a beautiful night with my beautiful bride.

We have came here every year, for the past 5 years, and love it. But this year no so much. Ribs were good but the onion straws were cold and greasy. Service was slooooooooow. Drinks were always empty.

Service was superb, ribs were good. French onion soup was very good as were the steaks. I got my filet and ribs for free for my birthday and they added a free piece of cake as well. Reasonably priced, ample serving size, casual ambiance, good view.

Oh my goodness! The pork chops are to die for. The ribs and filet were quite tasty. All in all a fabulous birthday dinner for the hubby. Can't wait to come back and try the prime rib when the kids come for a visit!

So my husband and I went here for an early dinner. First off, no outdoor seating after four? I'm just totally confused by that. You are an oceanfront restaurant. I went there to eat outside. But we are inside instead. We ordered the special of the day. It was a trio of pulled pork, ribs, and grilled bbq chicken. The grilled chicken was cooked 100 percent perfectly. I did not need a knife to cut into it. Juicy and simply amazing. The ribs were excellent as well. Meat fell Right off the bone. Pulled Pork was also very good. It was enough food that we shared this and left completely stuffed. Also came with rice, mashed, and a side of French fries. French onion soup- the bread and cheese were great. The soup was not so hot. It wAs very mushy. The onions in the soup hD been way over cooked to the point that they were almost dissolved in the soup. Friendly service at the front desk and from our server. I would go back again

Our server, Brett, was great. Very kind and attentive service. The French onion soup was amazing- the perfect ratio of onion, broth, bread and cheese- very generous with the cheese!!! The kids enjoyed the bread before dinner- light and fluffy dinner rolls. The sweet tea was fresh with the perfect amount of sugar. ordered Prime rib, medium= very rubbery and overdone.... so glad I got the small cut- very disappointed considering this is the "claim to fame". Wish I would have gotten the ribs..... but won't be back this week to find out if they are better. I wish we could have gotten seating on the covered patio.... the ocean facing booth indoors was decent. $70 for a family of 5.

It's easy to wait for a table when you get to sit outside overlooking the ocean! The food was typical. The ribs were good and our steak was cooked just as ordered. Our waiter was helpful during the meal, but didn't ask if we needed change when it came time to pay our bill, I guess he was trying to get an extremely generous tip! Overall we had a good experience!

I came here because I was told they have the best ribs on the beach with a beautiful beach view. Well, after going here I can say that they served me the best ribs I've ever had! Also, I ordered some beer, but the draft ran out... so they gave me free beer to make up for it! Overall, it was a great experience with a great ocean view!

I have never had a bad experience at Damon's. The food is always delicious and the view is beautiful. The bar area is first come, first serve which is nice if you are okay with the bar area. Tonight we sat in the bar area and while you usually sacrifice a degree of service when sitting in the bar, that was not the case tonight. Our waiter was very busy and even spent time apologizing to the table behind us because they were too cold (because obviously he controls the temperature). Overall a great experience! Two thumbs up!

It seemed like the wait was a lot longer than it needed to be however the food was definitely worth the wait...would return to.

This Damon's boasts a killer view. The food and service were great. Of specific note is that the side salad is not merely a pile of lettuce - it was actually like a cob with egg, bacon, ham, and tomotoes. And every meal comes with bread. Very reasonable drink pieces in the $3-4 range for draft craft beer. Had a pork chop and rib combo that was excellent.

Damon's is a regular stop for us on our annual visits to Myrtle Beach, and it has much to commend it, not the least of which is its beach location. There is nothing fancy about the place, but the prices are pretty reasonable, and a few dishes are definitely worth investigating. Our regular favorite entree is what makes Damon's famous, the ribs. They are tender, fall off the bone ribs with a very tasty house barbecue sauce. The portions are very generous. Next in line would be their steaks--we go lean with the sirloin, but steaks have all been very satisfactory. Chicken has been of varying character, and nothing to remember. Seafood is average in our experience. The sides are fairly predictable, with a sweet potato casserole standing out as unique. When you are stuck with the mixed vegetables, they are limp, so leave them alone unless you like overcooked veggies. So, go to Damons for the ribs or beef, enjoy fries, a baked potato, or the sweet potato casserole. If you want seafood, the deep fried items are decent, and make sure to ask about the catch of the day.

I only give this place 2 stars because of the gorgeous view. The waitress was as sweet as she could be, but the service was terrible. I don't really care so much about the drinks getting messed up, or the au jus getting spilled on me as I was served (it was hot and all the way into my sandals), but we waited FOREVER for the mediocre food. If we wanted a refill on our drinks, we had to flag the waitress down because she wasn't going to ask. Too expensive for food that was McDonald's quality. There are tons of other places to eat in MB, save yourself some money and pick another restaurant.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon around 2:00. We had a party of six and they told us there was about a 30 minute wait unless we wanted to sit in the bar. We chose to sit in the bar (hardly nobody was in there). Our waiter was nice. It took awhile for him to come to our table to get our drink order. Then it took way longer than it should of taken to come back with our drinks. (We all got fountain drinks too) I ordered the half rack of ribs which came with 2 sides and banana pudding for dessert. For my 2 sides I chose sweet potato casserole and macaroni and cheese. We waited a long time for our food. When our food finally came out, it looked delicious! The ribs were delicious! They were so good! Probably some of the best ribs I have ever had! The flavor was awesome and they fell right off the bone they were so tender. The sweet potato casserole was absolutely delicious as well! It was almost like eating dessert! I wish I had gotten 2 sides of sweet potato casserole because I definitely wanted more of it. The macaroni and cheese was not impressive at all... I didn't even eat half of it. The banana pudding was ok. It was not something I would order again. The service was slow but the ribs and the sweet potato casserole were absolutely amazing! I wish we had a Damon's where I live! Next time I go back to Myrtle Beach I will definitely be going back!!!

Great service and good food. The appetizers were served quickly and hot. The entrees were made fresh and cooked to perfection. The dessert was hot and fresh with an appetizing appeal. Very clean restaurant with welcoming and happy employees.

My mom and I ate here as a last resort when we realized there were no restaurants within walking distance of the Hampton Inn down the road. The best part was the service, the food was very meh. To start, we are both certain there was no more than a tablespoon of liquor in our drinks. They were entirely juice. My mom had the French dip which had some mediocre meat and some average fries. I had the Cajun chicken pasta which took the cake as the worst dish on this trip. There wasn't even any Cajun seasoning on the chicken! The sauce was likely from a jar and had no real flavor. I'd give this place one star if it weren't for the location... There really aren't any better options unless you're willing to drive 5+ miles. Go here expecting Applebee's quality and you won't be disappointed.

Beautiful view, excellent service and delicious food at reasonable prices. I share the two steaks meal with my friend. We started with a really nice salad with lots of stuff on it and a great honey mustard vinaigrette. The main was each of us got a steak, cooked perfectly, no fat to speak of, then my side was a sweet potato casserole. That too was excellent. I saw someone at another table have a giant margarita and I thought I would have to try that when I came back with hubby. Couldn't have that with the work crowd. Keep up the good work Damon's and I will certainly return.

2 stars because of the beautiful view and the fact that it only took 5 minutes to be seated. Being seated in only 5 minutes should have been a sign. Once seated, it took 20 minutes before the waiter took our drink orders. I have eaten at other Damon's locations and had very pleasant experiences; however, this one did not come close. The ribs were tough, my wife's steak was dry as a bone and we had to wave the white flag to get drink refills. Not worth the money we spent. I should have gone to taco bell for a better experience. Unless you want to throw away money on bad service, I suggest going somewhere other than here.

  • Neighborhood M.

If you're only going for a drink then it's a nice place to enjoy the view. The food is mediocre at best, and the service is poor. Don't waste your time or money. There are far better places in this area (with a view, too!)

  • Susan F.

Great location. Food is standard. Nothing to write home about. Seeing the waitress pick up a dropped chicken tender off of the server platter with bare hands and put it back on the plate for the patron at the table across from us was a huge disgust and turn off.

  • Alyson K.

The location was perfect; right on the water and close to our condo. I was not really impressed with the food and I felt the service was terrible. We ordered the onion loaf which is a bad version of a bloomin onion. It didn't have that much onion (mostly batter and grease). The steak I ordered medium came out well done son it was so dry I couldn't eat much of it. My husbands prime rib was ok and he was able to get horseradish for the top which enhances the flavor. The Mac and cheese they brought out for my toddler was so hot we had to wait almost 1/2 hour before allowing him to eat it. Overall we were there for a little over 2 hours (from the time we were seated) which I felt was too long. The worst part of the service was when there was a young boy choking on his salad ( he was about 8-9 years old). When our waiter arrived we told her the boy was choking and she paused, we suggested she get her manager who was 10 feet behind her so she slowly walked over, waited for him to finish his conversation and then told him. At that point the manager slowly walked outside with another employee to assess the situation. The boy was then coughing out all of his food and was ok but the response time of the restaurant was terrible. There were so many great places to eat on vacation that I don't think I'd return to give them a second chance.

We eat here a few times each season because someone in our large group has a birthday every few months and we all can get behind a free meal for our birthdays. As mentioned in previous reviews, they have the saltiest french onion soup I have ever been unlucky enough to try. Every single time... Last visit, one of the gals got the sausage and cheese dip appetizer and the two of us that shared were 'actually' sick for the next 24 hours (as in violently retching). I don't know if it was just too rich or if it was legitimate food poisoning. Their onion loaf always tastes pretty good- but it's heavy on the grease, so beware. Location is superb, and we can even walk there on the beach from the State Park if the tide is low enough at the slough to cross (right next to Damon's)- if it's not, we have to walk up to Springmaid resort and walk around from the front side. Best part of this place is the location, definitely not the food.

If you get the Server named Cody....ask for a different server. You'll avoid a lot of headache, cold food, rolled eyes & condescending attitude.

A great atmosphere with happy hour specials. We enjoyed our visit. Service was fine and the place offers a nice view. Food is more barbecue and american without much seafood. The ribs looked awesome but we didn't have those so I can't say how they tasted I'd say it's a cool place to stop especially if you want the ocean sunrise view or ocean view.

Alright, so I never made it past the bar area, so I will not be reviewing any food. Damon's is a huge restaurant right on the beach. It was a great escape from the sun while the rest of the family played on the beach. The bar area has high ceilings and great open, airy views. A couple of flatscreens and a jukebox that had great tunes. Came twice for the Bloody Mary's (with huge olives and pepperoncinis). The bartender the first day was a super friendly relocale from Syracuse who made a mean Lava Flow (pina colada with strawberry). I also give them points for carrying Sam Adams Rebel IPA, which is a very "daring" beer to carry.

Just ok. We had lunch here yesterday. Had the 1/2 sandwich club which was good but since everyone raved about the baked French onion soup, I tried that. Not good, I think it was made with chicken broth instead of beef. View was good.

This was our first time in Myrtle Beach and we went to Damon's after a long day at the beach. My oldest and I both got cheeseburgers and fries and the youngest got the two mini burgers. The patties were quite large and were really good. The price overall seemed a bit high but it wasn't unreasonable. I would go back for sure.

I was nervous to come here after reading all the bad reviews but my mum had a free birthday dinner coming to her so we gave it a shot. Views were noteworthy even took some pics at the far end of the restaurant right at sunset.....beautiful! Our waitress Candace polite, friendly and cool. She asked questions to the kitchen for us, made recommendations, never made us feel rushed and allowed my mother to feel special for this special occasion. She assured us our satisfaction was her priority! She made it a really good experience for us! The food came and my 2 companions were pleased with their meal. They got damons cut black angus and prime rib....both great! I got the cheeseburger and the French onion soup. Sure the soup as mentioned by others is very salty but I poured some water in mine and finished it all. It was good soup. Also salad was really good complete with toasted almonds. A decent meal all in all. Thanks Candace you're awesome!

This place is terrible. I have been coming to the beach for years and we live in Surfside. This place smells, bugs everywhere, and the food is just awful. Though the the view is spectacular.... Get something fried so you at least know it was cooked.

This was our first visit and we couldn't have asked for better food/service! We had BBQ ribs & grilled chicken, 9oz sirloin, baked potato, Mac & cheese, Caesar salads and the greatest Martini ever! Our waiter was amazing and we can't wait to come back again!! What a great experience!!

Iama Critic Rating - Damon's Grill - 4 Stars 2985 South Ocean Blvd., Myrtle Beach, SC Overall: Some items are 5 star or wonderfully close. Great food at a fair price, with a beach view! Damon's Grill's prices were quite reasonable, although the chops were at the top of their price/quality range. All in all I would highly recommend Damon's for your next Myrtle Beach visit. We ate at a lot of restaurants during our trip the Grand Strand and Damon's was in the top three, and the outdoor deck with a view of the ocean was very nice. Table Bread - 4 Stars These are more like table muffins. These puffs of joy go down waaayyy too easy and we went through several baskets! We would have had more if Damon's served jelly or cinnamon. $2.00 - Clam Chowder - 4 Stars Yea, the bowl is small but so was the price, and it was fantastic to boot. Damon's serves fantastic pepper, and yes, it makes a difference! $2 and fantastic just don't generally go together! $7.99 - Grilled Chicken Breast - 4 Stars This chicken entree comes with rice and a fabulous salad. My guest , who always special orders everything "Plain", said the chicken was perfect, and her salad was gorgeous and served with plenty of condiments including almonds. The rice was a little bland, but the dressings were top notch. My guest has ordered chicken a thousand times, and this is some of the best I have ever seen her receive, although for me, I think the chicken portion was a little meager, but for $8 it was acceptable. $15.99 - Grilled Pork Chops - 5 Stars These chops came with sweet potato crunch, apple sauce and it also came with banana pudding. Your options can vary. The chops were prime cuts, perfectly cooked and the presentation was fabulous. I am hungry just looking at the photos I took.. Side Sweet Potato - 4 Stars The sweet potato was creamy, crunchy and sweet, just marvelous. Side of Apple sauce -2 Stars The apple sauce was canned junk. Side of Banana Pudding -3 Stars The banana pudding was much better but didn't compare to the sweet potato.

Luckily the food here is really good!! But the service was not that great..the other night, we had a party of 6 and they did not have room for us at that time and asked us to wait...NOT A PROBLEM! except the hostess brought us to a corner of the restaurant where all of our chairs were turned to face a wall! A wall!! The restaurant has a gorgeous view of the ocean, but they wanted to seat us with our backs to it and our faces in the corner! Luckily, one of the waitresses told us not to sit there because it was obviously pretty ridiculous...we waited a bit longer and Carlynn? was our waitress and even though she had to take our table as well she did a pretty good job with keeping us happy! Will be back for sure but hopefully with a better experience in the beginning! :)

Free meal on your birthday, 'nuff said. And a free dessert with candle. Our waiter was great, nice and attentive (but it was a Tuesday). Mon and Tuesday is all you can eat ribs for $24 or so. Can't beat that deal! I don't do all you can so I stuck with the filet and ribs. The ribs were juicy and fall off the bone delish but the filet left more to be desired and was a bit tough. I was warned not to get the crab cake since we live in Maryland and they would be disappointing. I'm glad they tell it like it is. Great location but you can't see the ocean when it's dark out, not sure if they put up more outdoor lighting in the summer.

  • Susan G.

Absolute delicious. I ate way too much than my stomach could take. But it was worth it. I got to sit on the outside deck looking out at the ocean. It was amazing and I got to enjoy a great meal while looking at the ocean and feeling the breeze against my face. The service was quite well too. Giggly recommend trying this place out.

This place is a must eat if you're in Myrtle Beach. The food was fabulous and you get what you pay for. The wait staff was excellent, our waiter was very funny and nice, probably the best waiter we've ever had. We ordered the onion loaf and spent enough time talking to each other we didn't even realize we had waited so long for our food. They were very, very crowded, but we got seated instantly because we went to the lounge area. The pecan chicken was the best meal he had ever had, according to my boyfriend. I ordered the sirloin and ribs, so glad I did! I wish we had a Damon's up home!

Went here with a group of 14 for a bachelorette party. Staff was very accommodating to a large group. Free meal on your birthday, one of my friends was able to benefit from the free meal. Delicious banana muffins, appetizers were great (especially fried pickles), great BBQ. Prices were decent for the beautiful waterfront location. Cocktails weren't the best, I'd stick to beer or wine. I tried a mojito and a margarita and neither were worth ordering a second. Everything else was great, would highly recommend!!

Start: Had to wave arms to get seated... Even though the place is practically empty. Service: Scott - with his fun white headband and rehearsed scripted answers yet relaxed demeanor was very good. He absolutely knew his menu and when anything was requested he was quick to respond. Food: Da-damn those are HUGE portions! Seriously intimidating sizes. I don't know how anyone would be able to eat all of that... so make sure to share share share. We tried their RIBS that they boast about and I was NOT impressed. They were small, very little meat on the bones and the sauce which is usually the make-it-or-break-it item for a good or bad ribs meal... and theirs was not memorable. I didn't feel the need to lick my fingers or dip more in the sauce. I just kind of ate them simply cause they were there. I honestly felt like the sauce was something I could have bought in a store. "Meh" Overall: "ok" - the food was good... but nothing besides the view was really spectacular about this place. I went here YEARS ago and feel like nothing much has changed. I think this would be best for a drinks & look at the view spot.

Food - 1/2 *The food always leaves me a little disappointed. I've tried the ribs, grilled chicken, burgers, etc and am always left wanting more. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad, but it's not great. The food grades out across the board as a C+. The ribs are good but not as good as they want you to think. The onion loaf is tasty and the grilled chicken is above average. My salad was drenched in cheese and dressing, made it not good. Price - 0.5/1 *The price isn't bad for a spot on the water. I think they might be a tad high on some things, but it's ok. Atmosphere - 1/1 *This is Damon's real calling call, not the ribs. It's a great view, right on the water. You can sit outside, but there's not a bad seat in the house. Service - 0.5/1 *It's always ok. Nothing especially special, but I've never had a bad experience with their service. Side note- they are great for large parties. I come every year with a party of 40+ and they have a great seating area for the entire party.

Overall, Decent but not great. A little overpriced but to be expected this close to the beach. Service is a little slow but courteous. Food is okay. Best thing I had was the pecan-encrusted sweet potato casserole which was fantastic. I would come back just for it!

Terrible experience! My boyfriend and I left after our appetizer could not handle the horrible service and if what was to come of our main course was anything like there appetizers we weren't wasting anymore time!

  • John S.

The place was crowded but we were seated quickly at a table by the bar. Our waitress seemed to keep disappearing as if she was taking smoke breaks constantly or something. The appetizer took awhile to come out. It was ok. The meal took forever to come out and it was rather awful. I had the saddest pulled pork sandwich and my girlfriend had over done steak that was loaded with fat. The prices were far too much. The view was pretty much the only nice thing. Great shots of the ocean.

I would not recommend this place at all. Maybe the guy was having a bad day but either way, he barely made eye contact, talked to me as he was walking by, never heard specials, warm (not hot) food and didn't provide any service. I will not be back ever! Ribs were actually decent but everything else made them bad too!

Good food. We came at around 8:30 at night and are food came out very fast. We had just got our salad and our dinner came out not a minute after. Server was great but my husband felt rushed. He had he prime rib and said it was good, I had the chicken breast and it wasn't made to order since it came out so fast. I am unsure if they reheated it quickly to serve but it tasted good so I can't complain. The location is great and right on the water. I would come again earlier in the afternoon so as not to feel too rushed.

We arrived around 7PM in the evening, and were told it was going to be about a forty minute wait for a table outside, no problem at all for us as this restaurant has great views of the ocean from the outdoor seating area and we were willing to wait. My friends and I figured we would just grab a beer at the bar until a table was ready. The bar area was not very busy, we quickly found 4 seats at the bar and patiently waited for the bartender to take our order. Then we waited some more...and then some more. I understand that the bartenders are busy making drinks for the restaurant, but neither one of them even bothered to acknowledge our presence during the first 20 minutes of sitting at the bar. Once seated, the service at our table was better, but not great. I ordered ribs and shrimp for my meal, and we also had the appetizer sampler. The food tasted good, if not for the service I would have given this 4 stars. The top reason for going here is the view, the food is good by Myrtle Beach standards, but the service is severely lacking, especially in the bar.

Nice atmosphere, but the food wasn't anything special. I was disappointed in the quality of the food considering the price paid. Too many real good restaurants in Myrtle Beach to go back here. Beautiful view of the beach. The service was excellent.

Seriously not sure what the bad reviews were about on here! This place is awesome! The drinks were great. The service superb. The hostess Lauren was wonderful. The server Yorden was great. Now , lets talk about the food! Blackened Chicken Alfredo was some of the best I have ever had. The Onion Log was delicious. My son had a burger that also had pulled pork on it that he loved. My daughter loved her ribs and my other son loved the prime rib! And the price was the same as if I had gone to Fridays!!!!! Wtf !! Oh yeah , you won't find a better view of the Ocean!! Ignore the other reviews! Go and see for yourself. We ate out every night here in myrtle , and this was hands down the best!!

I try not to drink too much while on vacation, because in general unless I know the bartender, they never quite get the drinks right. This place had drinks that were perfect!!! We also ordered snacks that were very delicious. Beach view, great drinks, fun appetizers, wonderful service, and good company? Life doesn't get much better than this. When you can celebrate or catch up in an environment that is warm and welcoming, it's the best place to be! I highly recommend it.

If there is a wait, it must be good! Damon's was worth the wait, from the hot rolls to the pecan chicken to the onion loaf. Yummy! Get there early, if you don't want to wait or sit out on the porch. Also, this is a kid-friendly place, so if you do not like kids crying or running around, please get take-out or sit in the bar. We ate at Sticky Fingers for lunch and felt cheated, Damon's made up for it in the end!

Walking into this restaurant, the atmosphere/decor didn't feel like a BBQ spot but the view and food distracted me from the lack of ambiance. We sat on the patio, right out on the beach. Our server was very friendly. I had a half rack of ribs (about 8) and my boyfriend had a pulled port sandwich. We both loved our meals and plan on going back next time we're in myrtle beach.

We (four adults, one 8 month old) ate there tonight for dinner. We sat outside and it was quite the beautiful night - the view cannot be beat. Highlights: fried pickles (would be better with the fried onion dipping sauce), prime rib, key lime pie, our server Ryan. Lowlights: sirloin (tasteless), shrimp skewers (tasteless), and fried onion (just didn't do it for us). The food wasn't terrible, but it wasn't awesome either. The view was wonderful, our server Ryan was honest and sweet (I love honest servers), and the food came came fairly quickly. We'd go back, not because we are craving the food. But because it's a great view, good prices, and stellar service.

I have no reason to give this place anything other than 5 stars. Visited for dinner on Sunday night, Our server Courtney was absolutely great. I had the Ribs and Prime Rib combo with mashed and a Cesar Salad. All was excellent. My wife had Ribs and Chicken Tender combo with Mac n Cheese and House Salad. Once again, all was perfect. Onion Loaf is good too! All dressings, sides, and misc are homemade and you could certainly tell. I would definitely return again.

Having enjoyed Damon's multiple times on previous vacations we chose to dine there upon arriving and the meal was very good. The wait was 20 minutes but worth it as their signature dish - ribs delivered as always. Super tender, tasty and worth the wait. My wife enjoyed the Grouper and the kids were happy - which says a lot. The 3 stars comes from our return for lunch several days later. The waitress recommended the New England Clam Chowder which was absolutely in edible. It was so bad that the four of us that ordered it were fighting for drinks to wash it down. It seemed like they put old bread and glue in a bowl and mixed it with a can of no name brand clam chowder . It didn't even fall off the spoon. Simply awful. The prime rib sandwich was uninspired but ok. Turkey bacon club was ok too. The kids got salads which were ok and my Daughter was the smart one and got the kids portion of ribs which was excellent. Damon's has an amazing view, the staff are always friendly and if you order the ribs or fish you can't go wrong. In the future we will stick to dinner as that seems to be their strength.

We were there for about two + hours. Forty five min wait. First off, they put us in a smoking area outside. We didn't know you could smoke in a restaurant. That was OK though since the wind was blowing too hard for anyone to try to smoke. When the waitress took our order, she asked "soup or salad?" Didn't mention they were extra. I thought one would come with the steak. I ordered my steak rare, it was FAR from rare. It was close to well done which a true chef would never serve unless someone specified well done. When the waitress came by to ask if everything was good, I shook my head that it wasn't. She looked at my son-in-law who said yes, then she turned and left. No, I wasn't going to sit there for another half hour with three children while they tried to get it right. The onion strings were very good. Then I asked about a military discount, (retired). Our waitress came back and just said "no". POOR, P. POOR. I doubt very seriously if I will ever go there again. You can get a better steak at many other places, considerably cheaper.

I think their food is just ok. The she-crab soup is not all that wonderful, the french onion soup is extremely salty. I had the ribs & pulled pork combo - the ribs fell off the bone, but there was a ton of fat on them. The pulled pork was just okay, nothing to write home about. My kids had the mac n cheese & that was just okay as well. We got there right around 5:00 on a weekday and had to wait about 55 minutes (and there only seemed to be about 4 parties ahead of us). They have a nice view, but it really doesn't make up for the lackluster food. We only went as it was one of our birthdays (free meal). Probably won't visit again.

We are in town visiting friends and headed here for a late lunch. The view is amazing! I had a bowl of French onion soup and half of a turkey club sandwich; very good and filling! Hubby enjoyed his chicken livers with mashed potatoes and carrots. Service was efficient and friendly.

This place has an awesome location. The view of the beach is awesome and the interior is spacious with great seating options. If you want to go for the view, this place is for you. If you want to go for the service or the food, not so much. We had a large group booked into the restaurant for drinks and dinner. The first place this fell apart was service at the bar. It took me 18 minutes to order a glass of wine. The bartender had the pained look of someone who was bothered by every question or order. She was clearly not happy to be there. The food was, in a word: terrible. Their ad says they are the place for ribs and nobody in our party ordered ribs so perhaps that was the mistake. The appetizers (chicken wings and potato skins) came out slowly and tasted as if they had been under the heating lamps for half an hour. A couple of people at our table gave the crab cakes a chilly review. Someone else said the pork chops and applesauce were not the best. A friend and I ordered the Sweet Crunchy (Pecan) Chicken. It was disgusting. I think this is a place that is all location, location, location. Lower your expectations, meet up with your friends and don't drink anything that doesn't come in a bottle.

Really, really, really crappy food. I will admit I was not happy about going to a rib place considering I'm a vegetarian, but I was assured by my so-called friend that there would be plenty of veggie options. Wrong. Luckily I do occasionally eat fish, so I settled for the catch of the day which happened to be salmon. Our server was really friendly.. she forgot our appetizer, but that's OK it happens. No big deal. The big deal is that my salmon was SOOOOO salty I couldn't stand it. It was also this greyish color which I can only assume is from some awful teriyaki marinade because there was some gooey residue on the bottom of the fish. The rice was bland and the vegetable medley was stale. The caeser salad was swimming in dressing and the croutons were hard as rocks. My friend ordered some rib entree that looked like it was a hundred years old... and the portions were just sad. I used to be a meat eater, so I can recognize good ribs when I see them. They're supposed to fall off the bone... he spent most of the meal hacking away at his hunk of carcass trying to pry the meat off the bone. For some reason I ordered dessert hoping it would be better. How can you screw up a chocolate chip cookie and ice cream? Well, Damon's figured out a way. The cookie was stale and the fudge tasted like the same fudge Mcdonald's uses for their sundaes. Major, major disappointment. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!

This place is terrible!!! My wife and I went here our last night on vacation to get a good meal right on the beach. I will say the outdoor dining on the beach is a killer benefit but no excuse for terrible food and piss poor service. Our waiter, while freindly, was almost non-existent. Took us over 45 minutes to get our food and we could clearly see other tables seated after us getting their food. When our food did arrive, I had a hair in my steak and the mac and cheese( which was clearly a boil and add cheese sauce mac) was cold. The waiter's response was, "Nooooooo". I said yeah, it's right there, blonde and flapping in the breeze. His response, "I'll take care of that and inform the manager." Meanwhile, my wife had order the pecan glazed chicken. It was a mediocre chicken breast with Mrs. Butterworths poured all over it, disgusting. It came with some veggie mix that reeked of raw red onion. I got a new steak 5 minutes later, smaller and full of fat cold with more cold instant mac and cheese, and still NO manager. Got my bill and didn't get anything off and ended up paying full price! Please, please, please avoid this place at all cost. There are much better places to eat in Myrtle Beach than this crap hole. I currently have a complaint in with the company and will update this post when I have received an outcome.

Robin and Henry are the absolute sweetest two people we had the pleasure of meeting! The oceanfront mini bar is perfect for a cool and refreshing mixed concoction. Robin made us some good drinks and we sat at the bar for a long time and enjoyed every minute of it!! Henry is the Restaurant Manager and I have only good things to say about his hospitality and professionalism! They even recommended some great restaurants to try out in the area!

Great spot on the beach with a great atmosphere. I've always been a fan of Damon's but they have closed back where I'm from, so I always make it a point to go every year beer at myrtle. I love their ribs...some of the best ribs anywhere. The full rack is huge! Their southwest egg rolls are awesome. Their other apps are similar to other places (moz sticks...generic but good...etc). Don't get the she crab soup...it's bland and tasteless. The sirloins are good, fried fish is good, I really like the Mac and cheese, and the salads are solid. The outdoor seating is great...looking right out on the ocean and right down from a pier. Nice bar area too. Service was good and it didn't take forever to get our orders in and our food out to us. If you wanna sit outside, it's best to go early in tourist season, otherwise it's a huuuuuge wait. Inside, just try to get there before 7-730 especially if you have a larger party. And get the ribs!

I took my girlfriend here for dinner on the first night of our beach vacation and what a letdown it was. Our server was polite, but that was the only positive part of the experience. My girlfriend's strawberry margarita tasted so sweet it was impossible to drink. Yet my margarita was much too sour. For entrees, my girlfriend had grilled chicken and it was tasteless and dry. I had fried shrimp that was too greasy. The "pecan crusted" sweet potato soufflé was not and it tasted like school cafeteria sweet potatoes. Will definitely not be going back.

I'm sorry but I'm from New England. This was disappointing to say the least. Catch of the day was Salmon but truly was frozen and cost $22 Chicken was also terrible. It has a nice view but thats it! If you are health conscious dont go!

I travel often for work and when I do, I like going to places that I would not typically find in OC. I just came back from another trip to Myrtle Beach, SC. I've been to this restaurant before and on this trip we ended up coming here for Lunch "twice" because it was so Delicious and Beautiful! The restaurant is "Ocean Front" and pretty much every table has some view of the ocean. They have inside and outside seating available and the staff is friendly. They have excellent Char-Grill items and are famous for their Ribs. I tried them on my first trip and oh yes, excellent... the sauce smelled so good it made my mouth water with anticipation and the meat was so tender it was practically falling off the bone. During this trip I tried their lunch special "Ultimate Lunch Sandwich Line-up" with the Southern Pecan Chicken Salad and a bowl of hearty Chicken Noodle Soup. (The noodles were homemade...yummy!) The food was delicious! One interesting thing about the South... when ordering tea, specify if you want "Sweet Tea" or "Unsweetened Tea" The area is known for their sweet tea, but its like "Super Sweet"... I made the huge mistake of ordering "regular" tea and had this sitcom back and forth dialog with the waitress that went something like this: "Y'all want sum Sweet Teaaa with that order?" "I'll have regular tea please." "Sweet Teaa?" "No. Regular Tea." "Sweet Teaa?" "Um, no just regular tea...?" "Ma'am...Sweet Teaa IS regular tea rounhea, you prolly means Unsweetened Tea" Yikes. LoL. I'll remember that one.

This is a really nice, relaxed restaurant right on the beach! We stopped in for a beer and a light lunch. We shared the onion loaf - YUM and ordered the house salads for our entrees. The house salad is pretty substantial and reasonably priced. I really enjoyed spending time out of the deck watching the surf and relaxing with my party. My only tiny complaint is that the service was slow and a little snotty, but when you are at the beach, the vibe is a little slower and the pace a little more relaxed. I think the server was feeling a little harassed with his manager practically trying to do his job for him. Oh, and when we asked him about the onion soup, he said, in a word, "salty." Weird. If he knows that it is too salty and won't recommend it to the customers, why oh why is the chef still preparing it that way? Anyway, we just had salads and beer and those are pretty hard to screw up, so I'd say go and enjoy the view and a drink!! Can't really vouch for the menu at this point.

5 Stars for me! Excellent service and excellent food! I had the crispy pecan coated chicken breast which came with julienne summer squash and zucchini in a nice combo of seasoning with onions and a wonderful side of sweet potato casserole ... the chicken was so crisp yet moist and the pecan and sweet coating was perfect! The server was wonderful and told us that this dish was one of their signature dishes and one of her favorites! My husband had the pulled pork sandwich and said that it was the best he's ever had and had the Mac n cheese side to go with it and loved everything!

My memories of Damon's in my hometown in MI were dry, overpriced ribs, with a small menu. I was not in any hurry to return to any Damon's, even though I hadn't been to one in over 5 years. When we recently took a day trip to Myrtle Beach though, a friend we were with had never been to one and wanted to check it out, so we went. I ordered chicken tenders with chipotle sauce and they were delicious! The fries were crispy and hot. My husband got a chicken caeser salad which was very good, and we got Cheese and Sausage w/flat bread for an appetizer. WOW. Everything was SO good!! I was very impressed. What takes a star off, is our dry as sand waiter. I don't drink much for alcohol or beer, so when I asked if they carried a certain drink, he handed me the same drink menu that was on our table and finally I asked at the bar if they had my drink. (They did.) He was very awkward and short. He asked if we wanted boxes, our friend said yes. The waiter then returned, no box in hand, to ask if he again, wanted a box. The view is gorgeous, you can sit on the deck or inside, and it's fun to people watch on the beach when you have a window seat! I would definitely return again while in Myrtle Beach, and hopefully we'll get a great waiter next time, and be able to update this with 5 stars :)

I am late with this review but it deserves to be posted. Ate there on 7/3/13 and we had the greatest server named Jerrod. I ordered the Prime Rib Au Jus Sandwich which was excellent and my husband, who loves and lives for Ribs, ordered the full rack. Everything was served in a timely manner and our waiter kept checking on us several times throughout the meal. Then someone else came by to check on us. My husband never told me how bad his ribs were and I was so surprised. They actually were not fall off the bone ribs at all and he said the meat was tough. I coaxed him to finally say something to Jerrod about it. Well, he did, and not only did Jerrod apologize for it, he took care of us by ordering a fresh whole rack of ribs to go at no charge. In no time flat our 2 go box was hand delivered to us by the manager of the restaurant. He totally agreed with us that it was not cooked right to begin with. This is how all restaurants should be regarding customer satisfaction or else there might not be any customers. Please, if you haven't already, read my review about Wicked Tuna and you will see the wrong way a restaurant or a waitress should be. Thanks

We dined in during our vacation. I've been to Damon's several times way back in my college days, so I was ecstatic about seeing one right next to our hotel! Great food and friendly waiters! We both ordered Shrimp and Ribs platters... no complaints there. My personal Damon's favorite is always the Sweet Potato Casserole. The restaurant was clean, not crowded and the waiter was very accommodating to our requests. Our only complaint is the extra dim lighting. It was hard to see our food (and each other) with the amount of light provided in the main dining area, but we still enjoyed our food anyway. Whenever we return to Myrtle Beach, we will definitely be returning to Damon's.

The service was excellent- the waitress was very pleasant and friendly. The crab cake sliders were yummy. The lunch meals including the sides were like reminiscent of nursing home food. We will not be going back. Should have read the reviews before we decided to go there.

Overrated. We were told that they had the best ribs in Myrtle Beach. I sincerely hope not. Damons is oceanfront and the view from the patio is stunning. My husband and I looked forward to dinner and drinks out there. Until we found out that smoking is permitted on the patio. We ended up sitting near the back and still had a great view of the ocean but not our food! They never bothered to turn the lights on (8-9pm) until we asked. But enough about ambiance, our mixed drinks were watered down and the waiter didn't seem to be able to answer any of our questions on how the food was prepared yet was going to make stuff up as we went along....We were told the ribs were smoked. Instead they are baked in a brine. The sauce was "ketchupy". it's a shame that this restaurant gets such good press but didn't live up to it... I will not be going back....

The location is nice with seats on the beach the ribs were good but I really couldn't get over the big cockroaches that were running around. My husband killed one and within second 6 more came out. The server disappeared for a while my husband battled the roaches then came back with our dinner and our check at the same time.

Friendly greeting, great service. The food was okay. I went on a weekday little after lunch time, the waitress I had was friendly and courtesy. My clam chowder was cold because i was busy talking and eating the wings, she kindly offers a new soup. Thought it was very nice of her.

Went here because they were the only place open. I don't really understand why we had to wait because there were tons of tables open and cleaned off. We got steak and crabcakes and it was soooo yummy. Our food came out pretty fast and by the time we were full, there was still plenty of food left. The portions were good in comparison to the price.

I have been going to Damon's every year for a while now. I have always had great food and a great experience. This year was the exception. I went there last Monday with my family. We were greeted in a friendly manner. Then we sat at a table at the bar that was not clean at all and the server did not offer to clean it. We were finally taken to our table in the dining area where our "view" of the ocean was blocked by the grime on the windows. It was disappointing. Then our table was under an air vent that proceeded to drip water on us. When we asked to change tables our server explained they had that problem all day and we switched tables. If the problem was known why did they continue to seat that table? After we moved to a new table. They seated that same table again! Finally my onion soup came. It was a lukewarm soup with a soft dinner roll that had been microwaved with provolone on it. The crouton was soggy and not properly broiled. I know this because the cheese was not browned at all and the soup bowl was cold. Then we asked our server if we were to get bread on our table because all of the tables around us got bread when they were seated. He said they do not give bread to tables. Then he said he could but after a few minutes of discussing I finally told him that if it was too much trouble for him not to do it. He brought us 3 wrinkled, cold dinner rolls. One more problem with the food was that the Vegetable of the Day was "grilled" summer vegetables. They came out microwaved and mushy. Definitely not grilled. Beyond that the food was average at best. We decided not to complain at the time about these issues because the server should have spotted these problems and taken care of them before the food hit the table. I hate having to complain at a restaurant because I feel they should know how to give great service and excellent food. I loved going here in the past but because of our experience this time, we will probably not return again.

1 word review: "gross" 2 word review: "don't go" 3 word review: "waste of money" My wife and I were lured to this place by its curb appeal, oceanfront dining and reviews by others on yelp. Although the space was large, clean, modern and the views of the ocean were as promised, the food was not. My wife and I both ordered the chicken/rib combos. What we got were perhaps two of the worst meals we've ever been served. The "barbecue" chicken was the saddest breast of chicken I have ever encountered - unseasoned, naked and dry. Based on the appearance/texture/temperature it appeared the kitchen staff very lightly grilled (very light tan grill marks) all their breasts at once, refrigerated them and then microwaved them to order. They served the "sauce" on the side, likely because they know it tasted terrible and too many people would complain if they slathered it all over their chicken. Think ketchup...rancid ketchup. Their "famous ribs" (according to our waiter) were equally terrible. Dry and leathery. My (brown) mashed sweet potatoes barely resembled their namesake in both taste and appearance and my wife's "Mac and Cheese" was swimming in a swamp of cheap processed nacho cheese sauce. Even my 16 month old daughter refused to eat it. Our waiter seemed to know he was serving us junk - unenthusiastic and didn't even bother asking how everything was. I'm surprised he bothered asking us if we've been there before, as I can't imagine many people return. If compared to this place, my hot dog from the shack at Alligator Adventure earlier in the day would have been awarded michelin star. If you're into paying $60+ for a 45-minute view of the ocean, go here. Otherwise, don't.

Id give it a 3.5. This place had a fabulous view and very polite wait staff. The kitchen was slow, however. Husband had pub fish which he said was very fresh and delicious. I had ribs which were ok- not really my style. Kiddo's grilled cheese was hard and the cheese wasn't melted. Sides were all ok, not great, though. Id suggest going here again, sticking to the lunch (cheaper) menu and watching the view.

Even though its obviously a rib place for some reason I decided to go with the fish n chips and they were way to greasy and made me sick. And I NEVER get sick from food; I am a guy and I eat like a lineman. But I did have to give it three stars just because it was such a nice place and the service was good. They have beach view tables which are really nice and breezy. It wasn't the most kid-friendly place. At least not that evening since a college fraternity had rented out a section of the place and we could barely here ourselves talk over their crazy noise. Not sure if I'd try it again. Maybe a date night but definately not somewhere I'd bring the kids again other than for lunch.

Had a great lunch at Damon's for half the price we paid anywhere else. Lunch menu was pretty extensive and everything included 2 sides with a desert. I think it was banana pudding. I didn't eat that because I don't like it but whatever just saying. One of the sides I got was applesauce! How awesome is that? I love seeing applesauce on a menu so I had to go for it. It went great with my fries and chicken fingers. The applesauce was cold and delicious! I would go back to Damon's in a heartbeat. We sat outside overlooking the ocean on a beautiful day with a beautiful view. Damon's made me feel like for once on Myrtle Beach I was finally getting my monies worth.

I was wary of this place when we first walked in. It looked a bit worn down: stained and frayed carpets, big chips in the trimwork, etc. And it's a HUGE place, and the small lunch crowd just made it seem all the more sad. But lunch was actually pretty good. I really like the chicken fried steak, even if the gravy seemed to come out of a bottle or can. It was a great value too. One wonders how they can serve a big portion of steak, two sides and a dessert for $7.99 and stay in business.

The service was really great, but the food is 'eh'. If you want to go and get a burger and fries you probably won't walk away dissapointed, but it's definitely not a special occasion spot. There is an amazing view though!

This is a great spot! Located directly oceanfront, this restaurant has great views and outdoor seating, however can be quite hot in the summer months. Even sitting indoors you are able to take advantage of the great views since most of the restaurant has floor to ceiling windows. It has a casual feel and is family friendly and offers crayons and coloring for the kiddies (which is always a plus in my book)! They are known for their ribs, and they are fantastic. I usually do not like to order ribs out because of the messiness, but I must have them here. The BBQ chicken as well as the steak are good choices too. As most restaurants in Myrtle Beach, it can become very crowded during the usual dinner hours, but they have a great outdoor bar area, sometimes with entertainment, that seems to make the wait time go by quickly. This place wont disappoint --- you should go!

I would always eat here when visiting Myrtle Beach on the weekend because it is right on the beach. The asian wings with that good ol' sauce is amazing! You can't go here and not try it. The shrimp and ribs are great! Make sure you dine on the patio with a mixed drink while listening to the waves crash on the shore! This location is awesome for groups with the scenic beach. The other location on North Myrtle Beach doesn't have the beachside view and is alot smaller. What can I say, It's all good!

In terms of view and ambience, it was 5 stars for me. Very nice, friendly staff. I really enjoyed it there. The problem for me was with the food. My husband said his ribs were really good. My chicken tasted like hospital food. (In defense if the chicken, my 2 year old did love it.) I also ordered a Mojito which was quite underwhelming. I'm really glad we chose to eat there and we had a great time, but for me in was in spite of the actual dinner.

  • Shawna F.

The service is great! The view is great! I chose to eat inside because it was chilly but, the deck is fantastic and I stood and took some pictures. You can watch the banana boats etc going on but, the view is beautiful. The prime rib was not the greatest. It lacked seasoning and was so bland it was not worth the money. The onion straws were good and the burgers were fantastic. The salad was okay and the clam chowder was gritty. It'd be a great place to go, sit on the deck, and have a drink. Perhaps even have an appetizer but, the main dishes I would skip. The dessert was not the greatest either.

Went here the other night for dinner with family, planned on sitting outside on the deck, overlooking the ocean, but it was going to be over an hour to sit there, so we sat inside......the place didn't have much in the way of atmosphere.....one big open room. Kinda felt like a cafeteria. I didn't like the food much , but my wife liked the ribs she ordered......I would say its probably not a do over for us....

The food here is actually pretty terrible. The French onion soup is really the only tolerable thing I've had on the menu. BUT - the view is so worth the crappy food. It's right on the beach and they even have outdoor seating. I'd go back for the view but not the food.

Great ribs, nice portions, my wife's steak was under seasoned, lacking a diverse beer menu unless Buttweiser and the like are your flavor. We went at a busy time and waited for a while but noticed empty tables while we waited. All in all the food was worth the wait.

Good food, good service, great view! It doesn't hurt to have a reservation.

The staff was very friendly. The ribs were dried out. Very disappointed with them. The dining room wasn't very appealing. The lights above the tables need to be dropped about 4ft. Also, I heard another table comment about the light ing at the table. The tables along the windows needed more light on them. I just expected this place to look better inside.

My friends and I were in Myrtle Beach for a weekend (which was dirty and full of teenagers running around.... so much for a nice relaxing getaway). This is the only restaurant in the area that I would recommend. The ribs were possibly the best I've ever had in my life. The other stuff we ordered were also pretty tasty. Make a reservation or sit at the bar (which has an equally nice ambiance). One star off because they don't have ANY vegetarian item, how disappointing...

If you enjoy your barbeque with no flavor whatsoever this is your place. The French onion soup was a salt lick. That was terrible...

We went here while on vacation and it was absolutely delicious! It was so good that we went there twice on the one vacation!

This restaurant has an excellent view of the ocean and has beachfront seating (right on the beach). The menu is a standard BBQ place menu. However, when I was there, it has a buy one get one free breakfast buffet which made breakfast come to $4.50 each. Great deal.
