This is the tale of an undercooked burger, an overworked bartender, and music loud enough to rattle my brain. I had just finished helping my sister move into her new digs when she decided we were going out for dinner. I was exhausted so I did not argue. Manhatten's is just around the corner in a small shopping center off Highway 17. It was right at the beginning of the dinner hour on a Saturday night. Manhatten's is a cozy little locally-owned joint. They have high tables and a long wooden bar with seating for about 30-40 people. They have a pool table, cornhole, a dartboard. From what some of the regulars told me this is THE place to be during sporting events with their dinner and drink specials, large screen TV's, and games. But despite all that, they hit the fatal Three Strike Rule for me and restaurants. #1 - When I ordered my burger I was very specific to tell the waitress/bartender (more on that in a moment) that I wanted to cooked well done with NO pink. I don't like pink on my hamburger meat. Pink is fine on bologna, but not my burger. When I finally chomped down on the burger almost 30 minutes later it was pink in the middle. And the edges. And everywhere. Fail. #2 - The poor bartender/waitress/buswoman had to take care of the entire place by herself. The entire night I only ever saw this one woman working at the bar, serving drinks, taking orders at the tables outside the bar, and bringing food. I mean seriously I felt so sorry for her I almost offered to go into the kitchen and pick up my own food if it was ready. My beer glass hit empty twice. I had to walk over the bar to get the check. Fail. #3 - They had live music from a local band. Yay! It was so loud I couldn't hear my own thoughts. Fail! I'm all for local bands playing live music, but when you have a narrow building with low ceilings and brick walls you have to tell the band to turn it down a bit. I spent most of the night having to talk directly into someone's ear which, you know, is a bit awkward when it's your sister. Fail. The seasoned fries were good, the beer was cold, and seats were comfortable. The locals love it and come out frequently throughout the week. There are some perks, but I was not sold. It was great once, maybe twice, especially if the sister wants to pay. But as for me? I won't be spending my own money here.

Been there a couple times. I have only had the Cheeseburger so far, but if the rest of the food is the same quality you are in for a treat. going back there very soon. Hope to see you.

This is a locals bar. Everyone here seems to know everyone else in the bar. Serving staff included, felt like an outsider for sure with the service. Beer selection is minimal, food is decent pub food. Unless you plan to attend this bar on the regular I'd say your better off avoiding the icy stares of being an unknown.

Stopped by for happy hour and it wasn't bad. The decor inside reminds me of an old location although they are fairly new. Bartender was very helpful and explained menu well. Ordered quesadillas and they were not bad, didn't wow us, but not bad. Will go back as this is a good watering hole.

I somehow ended up at Manhattan's twice this week, and I don't live nearby. It's a total locals bar, so everyone here knows each other. Cool vibe there, and it's Charleston so plenty of cute girls. Pretty friendly staff and good service for a locals bar. Would I go here if I didn't know anyone? Absolutely not. But as it turns out I enjoyed hanging out here.

Manhattans is the hidden gem of mount pleasant. It's tucked away in Charleston National neighborhood. It's my local Cheers. The regulars are nice and will introduce themselves if they don't know you. The food is amazing! Walter is an amazing chef!!!!

After reading all the positive reviews I was looking forward to trying this place. I was disappointed. Although the bartender was friendly enough, service was quite slow. The clientele was fine, but not particularly friendly, a sharp contrast to other reviewers' experience. Also, in regard to this being an adult bar as mentioned on other reviews, I suppose that means one can drop f bombs with impunity. On the positive side, prices were certainly reasonable.

Nice crowd, good drinks, service is excellent.. but if its slow it closes early. Bingo, dj's bar games, wii, pool table. Great gathering spot out near Wando

I love Manhattans! It's been my local "cheers" bar for the last 5 years where everyone knows your name. Everyone is always friendly here. The bartenders are very attentive and the food is always great. The owner used to have a nice Italian restaurant next door that they renovated into an extension of the bar and remodeled. Plenty of the food was carried over from the Italian place (Souri's) menu. The only difference is that the menu is now more bar menu focused. I love the meatball sliders. Always a good choice. After your first time here, there will always be a familiar face at Manhattan's. Most folks live in the Charleston National golf community of Park West across the street. Head up there and jump in on a game of cornhole, pool (two paid tables), or Foosball. They are always running different specials and often have live music, karaoke, bingo, trivia, or pool leagues rotating through their schedule. Great local bar with a friendly crowd!

Bartender was not very friendly. We had to grab our own menus and then had to ask to place an order. She didnt seem interested in checking on us and we were sitting in front of her at the bar. When the food came the order was wrong. I assume because she wasnt really even listening when the order was placed. The correct food order was pretty good though. We felt unwelcomed and that we were almost a chore for the bartender. I would not return.

Mans is my Patriots of the south. I can credit it in introducing me to a lot of my friend-family in Charleston. Great crowd where the drinks flow. Monday Pool League, Taco Tuesdays (and game nights!), Karaoke on Friday's... there's always something going on and a lot of laughs at this local bar.

Stopped in and had a salmon sandwich. No side but my goodness what a great deal and a great tasting sandwich. Plenty of food too. I'll be back.

Mahattans was a nice surprise. We went Sunday night and football was on all of the tvs which made the men in our group extremely happy. There was only 1 server that also doubled as the bartender but he handled the crowd quiet well. He was very accommodating and and we loved all of his recommendations. The pizza fries is a take on the chili cheese covered fries and our group couldn't get enough it. The pizza is a thin crust pizza that is very crispy (my favorite) and the chicken avocado sandwich was super yummy. Definitely will be back.

I love manhattans mostly because the family feel. Great spot to meet friends quickly with inexpensive drinks. Bartenders are great, always remembering your face and what you like to drink. I wish they served late night fried foods like some places but that's my only complaint. Who knows, maybe that's not a complaint because its saved me and my wallet from drunkenly eating plenty of times.

I met our wando girls for our once a month happy hour. Had a good time. $5 cheeseburger night. Had a hard time finding it because the trees were hiding the sign. Nice small bar to hang out.

Great local spot, somewhat hidden from the masses (a good thing). I went on a Thursday about HH time, and there were about fifteen stools at the bar, about half of them full. Full bar, and the bartender was a great dude, totally friendly. They had a touch screen juke box. They serve typical pub food as well, but I didn't try anything...mostly pizzas, burgers, salads, and apps. More of a drinking establishment, which I like, because once kids show up, it starts looking the Dog and Duck across the street in Park West. I have kids, and that's exactly what I don't want to see when I go out for drinks. Let the families be families across the street at the other establishments, but if you're local and over the age of 30 and looking for a good cocktail spot not too overcrowded, then this is your spot. Dress code was pretty much come as you are. I will definitely be back with spouse, friends, or solo to accomodate my libations cravings.
