Charleston’s Cafe

Charleston Cafe's catering shop is the absolute best in the area. Between the quality of food, prices and service, it's all A+. We signed up with Charleston Cafe (Cafe Catering) for an upcoming wedding. First, the food is great. Have tasted the flank steak, mac&cheese, crab cakes and fish tacos. I am not a huge seafood fan, but the fish tacos were great. They are appetizer size and come in a small fried shell. For such a small item, they pack a ton of flavor in it. The flank steak is also very well prepared, juicy and great taste. Compared to other caterers we looked at, Cafe Catering had the best pricing points by a long shot. Beyond all that, their service is not only the best among caterers, but some of the best I've dealt with in any industry. I'm not a huge fan of naming names, but their is a young lady their that needs a raise.

THE nicest woman works there in the morning. She is always pleasant and never gets flustered by annoying customers. I go out of my way to come to this Subway even though there is one on IOP because of the staff. Food is consistent with Subway quality.

Grind and Squeeze

Reviews:
It is hard to find. It is on the same side as O'Brion's restaurant. If You're walking past O'Brions you will see a rod iron gate on your left, go down that alleyway and it is on the right. It's perfect for a beautiful day because there is a lot of outdoor seating. The inside is really just a place to order quickly and then move outside. The staff was great and very friendly. I got a caramel latte with Almond milk for the first time. The barista offered to remake it if I didn't like it. Super awesome!
A hidden gem. I absolutely love everything about Grind and Squeeze. It is the perfect little spot to just sit and relax. The outdoor area is lovely and so inviting, especially if the weather is nice. The shop itself is tiny but adorable. Their coffee is on point. If you are looking to try a smoothie, I highly recommend the PB & Buzz. I tried it for the first time recently and let me just say, my taste buds thanked me! By far my favorite coffee shop around.
Quaint courtyard appeal. Tiny little shop, but the beautiful outdoor space made up for that. Friendly service and a quality cappuccino. Option to relax with a glass of wine or refresh with a smoothie too. Brought my book to while away a few undisturbed hours.

The Pickled Palate

411 Hibben St

Reviews:
I feel like my last few reviews have all mentioned sub-par service. So I'm glad to finally be able to rave about amazing service, which I got here at The Pickled Palate. The owners and staff here are so nice! I was trying to figure out a way to get back here at least once more before I headed back to Atlanta, but I couldn't make it happen. Although it was getting pretty busy, I was greeted as soon as I walked through the door. I was asked if I'd visited before, and was given the rundown. Despite the growing lunch crowd, I wasn't rushed to make a decision. I settled on the turkey panini, which I was told was a favorite of their diners. I can see why. First, I didn't know raspberry mayo was such a thing. It's real. And it's real good (you know something's great when you forgo all proper grammar and punctuation). It was also served with swiss chess, and your choice of a salad or bag of chips. I opted for the salad, which was tasty on its own. Even the water infused with cucumber and lemon was perfect...so much so, that I asked to take a cup to-do. This place has me eating all of my veggies with their yummy salad AND drinking lots more water. Adding this little gem to my list of places I definitely have to visit whenever I'm home.
Pluses: Turkey with raspberry mayo was delicious, makes me want raspberry relish instead of cranberry next Thanksgiving. Iced tea was free flowing - you could help yourself to as much as you wanted and there were two varieties with all the trimmings - lemon, ice, sweetener, ball jars or plastic cups to drink from. Kettle cooked chips Beer and wine, if you wanted it. Customer service was genuine. The ladies working here really want to make you happy. Minuses: My roast beef was nothing to write home about- the bread it was on was not ciabatta no matter who wants to call it that. Pie kept in the fridge - no one likes fruit pie cold. Makes me think it's been laying around for a while. Skip the peanut butter and jelly. Our friend's 5 year old didn't want to eat it because it was messy. Why was it messy? Oh, because it was on a "ciabatta" and it went thru the panini press and everything was oozing out of it. You ever seen a hot peanut butter jelly sandwich? Yeah, me neither.
You know that awkward feeling you get when you go into a cafe for the first time and you are just browsing while ppl stare at you and you kind of feel rushed to make a choice?? You don't get that feeling here. The people welcomed us when we walked in and asked if we had been in before (they could tell we haven't, bc I'm totally awkward like that) and they gave us a whole rundown on the menu including special items - like gluten free and vegetarian, and showed us the drink bar (pitchers of cucumber lemon water, un sweet teas and a simple syrup) So I'm really glad my aunt and I stopped here, it's southerly charming and rustic and quickly has become a favorite in the area. I did the pimento cheese panini sandwich and it is probably the best pimento sandwiches I've had. I loved the bread and how it was perfectly panini'ed. So crunchy on the outside and oozy, cheesy and chewy on the inside!

Charleston Donuts

Reviews:
Donuts don't get any fresher than this! A hot donut comes out and you get to customize it however you want. I was in the plaza and have been wanting to check this place out for a while. I was meeting a friend for lunch, but figured one donut couldn't hurt? I spoke to Stephen, the owner and he was so enthusiastic about making sure everyone enjoyed the donuts. He had a very welcoming personality and it shows that he cares about the product he's putting out. I love chocolate frosted donuts so I started there and then decided to add coconut and pistachios to it... yes, they have whole pistachios as a donut topping! The donut was excellent and I had to pry myself away from ordering another and completely ruining my lunch. My only suggestion would be to crush the pistachios, which would not only be more cost effective, but I think the flavor would be better if the pistachio was spread all over the donut instead of whole nuts on top.
Excellent. Only complaints are the limited selection and tiny sized "large" drink. I guess the limited selection allows them to keep the quality high. Check it out.
Fantastic donuts and excellent coffee as well. If you've ever had Duck Donuts, it's a similar concept but the Charleston donuts are way better. The donuts are lighter, softer, and have a nice crunch. Who doesn't love that! We will definitely be returning. The red velvet with cream cheese icing is pure yum.

Verde

Reviews:
What a great little spot! My boyfriend and I were out shopping and looking for a place to grab a bite to eat, but not weigh us down. Verde was the perfect choice! The interior is soooo cute! Green is my favorite color and boy is there a lot of it here (hence, verde I guess). Very bright, fresh, and modern. We both ordered the Curried Beet salad with the Curried Vinaigrette dressing. He got in in a bowl, I ordered a wrap. Everything about this was kick ass, except that it was really salty, Maybe I just should have asked for light dressing (since I usually only use 1/4 of what most people prefer on their salad). Will definitely stop in here again next year on vacation!
Fresh and tasty. Loved both salads. Portions are huge for me, one salad could've fed us both. Soba salad and a Cobb salad plus 2 sodas $25. The peanut dressing on the soba salad was awesome. Ingredient bar looked fresh, they can make your salad in a bowl, or chopped or wrapped. Wouldn't hesitate to eat here again.
Fresh and friendly but the prices are too high for students and retail employees. They just raise their prices and portions are too large for one so they don't offer a smaller size salad so I have to split it with my coworker. They should offer a King Street discount, a student discount and a military discount.

Awesome and very healthy! A real sweet spot in Mount Pleasant! A great place for a treat or a crazy healthy smoothie! You can make it the way you want and there are so many options. A must stop!
Love it! I have now been trying to locate something similar back home in Tucson and nothing exists quite like it. They use actual greens in their smoothies and juices and not just powders. They have great add-ins, and a good variety selection of drinks. Plus, the service was super friendly. Can't wait to go back next time I'm in the area.
We stopped in here to satisfy a craving for smoothies and enjoyed it so much we came back again the next day. From our experience, you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. In addition to the fantastic smoothies, the staff were very friendly and helpful in our choice between many good options.

Enjoyed eating dinner here! Enjoyed the blackened mahi mahi sandwich! Nice cold draft beers! Great jalapeño bacon pimento cheese appetizer!!! Loved being able to enjoy dinner, drink cold beer, and watch US Women beat China at soccer!
Awesome atmosphere, live music, great waitresses (especially Angela), and a multitude of TV's for sports. This is the perfect sports bar. We also ordered the nachos, and the wings. Angela said there wasnt anything bad in the menu, and she was right! The nachos were crisp, with plenty of fixings and fresh chicken strips. The hot wings were AMAZING. We will definitely be back again. We'll deserved five stars.
My friends and I frequently pick the Water Dog for a Friday night unwind. Fish and chips are excellent as are the nachos and salad with tuna. Higher grade food than you would expect. Owner is a great guy

SIMPLE REVIEW ITALIAN BROOKLYN I DRIVE FROM HANAHAN TO EAT THERE. Anyone that complains about Bacco should stick to Olive Garden as that is probably more your speed. I take clients here as well after any closing in Mt Pleasnt. Matter of fact plans on order for visit next week with wife and my broker with his wife. Lou Russo Carolina One Realty
Great food. great atmosphere
Another Italian restaurant to cross off our list. My starter was fried Mozerella - yummy when fresh rather than frozen. Sorry to say that even the frozen kind would have impressed me more.....it was soft rather than crisp and had absolutely no flavor at all, the red pepper sauce it sat in had some flavor but had the consistance of water. The crostini ordered by 2 of us were good (one with goats cheese and the other a liver pate) but not great. The Portobello mushroom salad was pretty good though. As for main courses, 2 of us ordered the Risi e Bisi (risotto with peas and pancetta) - BIG disapointment, neither of us finished it. Was a plate of rice, lots of peas and a sprinkling of pancetta ocer the top. I would be surprised if it was made with Arborio rice as there was none of the delectable creaminess nor did it cling together as expected . In fact despite taking the leftovers home my sister-in-law threw them out after dinner at home tonight as no-one wanted it. Might have been a passable side dish if it had not been so salty. The veal looked and am told tasted ok. but looked sad on the plate with 3 (yes 3) boiled potatoes. Our desserts arrived 20 minutes after our coffee did, and were hardly worth the wait. Although the mascerated strawberries that were served with the cakes were delicious - should be a dessert by itself.

Uncle Maddio’s Pizza Joint

1795 N Hwy 17
Mount Pleasant, 29464
Reviews:
Since I first tried Uncle Maddio's on the 4th of July, I feel it is only appropriate to give my review to the tune of Yankee Doodle. Hubby and I came to town, Oh we were so hungry, Uncle Maddio's was the fix, Who can't turn down cannoli! Peachy Keen pizza was my choice, his BBQ chicken was dandy, Caprese salad was our start, the employees are so handy! The pizzas were prepared so fast, We barely spent time waiting, Will I go again to this spot? Of course, there's no debating!w
Yeah, I'm sort of crazy about this place. It's basically Chipotle meets pizza. You have the ability to build your own personal pizza. (They also have salads) On Mondays, a 9 inch pie with three toppings is only $7. Just had one this evening, and I must say it was pretty freaking good. It's not the greatest pizza I've ever had, but for the price and convenience it's 5 stars in my book. A new weekly spot for me. I recommend "extra crispy" on the temperature.
Went on Monday and was fortunate enough to benefit from Maddio's Monday! You get any 3 topping 9" pizza for $6.35. We got two pizzas, a small Greek salad, a cookie, and a drink for less than $20. I love how fresh everything is and that they make the dough in house. The staff was very friendly and explained the process, but some of them (maybe new) were completely scattered. I started asking about the meat options and he had to get assistance to define them all. There's only like 10 things to remember... I had it down pat by the time he was done. It seemed like they had were finishing a rush cause they all seemed a little flustered. Our Pizzas came out but never saw the salad. They said it would be out shortly after. When that didn't happen, I went to the counter to let them know and they said they had it right there, but didn't know who it belonged to... wrong answer. Otherwise the staff was friendly and helpful. I think they might still be going through some growing pains so I'll let it slide. Plus, everything ended with a "Love Cookie" and how can you be mad after eating that cookie!
