We have tried this place twice. Just to make sure the first time wasn't just a bad day for the kitchen staff. Nope .. it was a normal (bad) kitchen day. Menu is over-load.. with so many selections.. how can they have a "special"? My husband ordered the sushi, he said it was ....ok. I wanted a Thai sweet/spicey sauce with shrimp, nope not on the menu. I ended up with over cooked, previously frozen shrimp. The sauce bottles at the table were filthy and we were afraid to use them, so no sauce at all. After this experience we wont be back.

I've been to Fusion Bowl twice for lunch, and both times I've had nothing but exceptional service and food. They have lunch specials for $5 to $9 - all of which come with more than enough food to satisfy any hunger. Most lunch specials come with an entree and a choice of soup or salad. My latest visit was today - the weather was beautiful enough for us to be able to sit outside on their nice (yet small) patio. Service was fast and friendly. Couldn't have asked for anything more.

I'm a fan of Tahi food this is one of the only places in the Lexington area to get anything that resembles a steaming boll of Tahi curry. I have eaten her several times and enjoy both the Green and Red Curry Chicken, and the Green is my favorite as the Red curry is served with potatoes, which dulls the crisp flavor IMO. If you like Tahi foods order it extra spicy as the standard dish is not spicy at all by Tahi standards and extra spicy is about what I expect in a standard Tahi dish say in San Francisco or New York. Both dishes come with generous portions of white meat chicken and vegetables and the fried rice is actually very good. My one complaint (unlike other reviewers here) I found the Sushi to be sub par even for this area , truthfully I only had it once time but the order I received looked like it was cut the day before and sat in the refrigerator the rice was stale and the wrapper was dry, so I haven't ordered it again.

I eat here 4 or 5 times a month. The lunch specials are not tasty but are priced nice as well. The tangerine beef is excellent here. I also enjoy the Thai offerings and sushi. While Thai and sushi are better at an actual Thai restaurant or sushi bar, the fusion bowl fares welling these areas. I would highly recommend this place to anybody that is searching for a good Asian restaurant in the Lexington area.

Red Bowl has changed a lot since the first time I went. I went for lunch and the food was SO good. We got tons of food for practically no money with their lunch specials. The service was great also! Try going at lunch!

Always good food specials especially at lunch. They have weekly sushi specials too. Consistency on good food & friendly service is a great plus. Is a chain restaurant but alot of locals like it because of those things mentioned. On the small side. I think they have a tiny patio area but may be to place next door? In a small strip mall. Nice water wall feature as you walk in. Oval bar with sushi area on one side, separating it from the rest of restaurant.

Upon ordering the waitress let us know that if one person bought a drink that person's sushi order would be 30% off. When the waitress came with the check she said the manager would not do the discount because the special says 2 drinks must be purchased. We asked to speak to the manager. When she came to the table she did apologize but she blamed the server and said no discount would be given unless another drink is ordered. We asked why we should be penalized because the server was misinformed. Tina, the manager threw the waitress under the bus and said, "I don't know why she would tell you that, she is well informed." She proceeded to go back and forth and instead of eat the $2 tea, she had us pay for it. Poor management leads to lack of sales. We surely will not be going back.

This is the best Asian fusion place in Lexington at a lower price range. But you do have to go during the right time of day to get the specials. The sushi specials are fantastic. After 8pm on Sat-Tues week, ALL the sushi is 50% off and Wed-Fri is 30% off! You must sit in the bar area (there are tables and booths in the bar area) and buy at least two alcoholic drinks for the special. The lunch specials are also incredible deals ($5 entrees). You can also always find coupons on their website for 1/2 off entrees and buy one get one free entree. The variety of food is great: a few traditional Thai dishes (a few curries and pad thai), Chinese food, and sushi. The sushi is OK and worth it only if you go during the special hours (after 8pm). Our favorite roll there doesn't even have sushi in it, which is unusual for us. It's the tropical roll, which has shrimp, mango and coconut flakes. I don't get sushi there if I have to pay full price; there's just too much good sushi in Columbia to waste money on OK sushi at that price. However, since we typically eat dinner late anyway, we do the 50% off sushi pretty regularly. The Thai dishes are really good. The Chinese dishes are pretty good too. It's really the only reasonably priced Chinese food in the area besides those cheap buffet-type places (which I avoid). Antai and Miyo's are a significant step above Fusion Bowl, but you pay for it. The service is usually pretty good and they are good at getting the food on the table quickly for the most part. Sometimes when sitting in the bar area (which you have to in order to get the sushi specials), the service can be lacking. In summary, this a pretty good place for a quick inexpensive lunch or dinner, if you're in the Lexington area. Keep your eye out for specials and check the coupons online. It's not worth traveling from the other side of town for. However, since I'm in Lexington and it's reasonably priced, it's one of our regular casual dining places. It's also good to take large groups because there's sushi, Thai, and Chinese food (all of which are good), so there's something for everyone.

Pretty good sushi and you can get 50% off with a couple of cocktails. Service can be slow when it's crowded like many places, but over all not bad.

Based on other Chinese place in the area, price, good quality, ambience, service, etc, this is the best by a lot. Lunch specials are great, lots of choices for a great price. I'm not a sushi fan, but friends have told me it's "quite good." The dinner menu is more substantial and the prices are The restaurant itself is nice, holds a good amount of people without feeling crammed in. There is also a private room for large parties. The property has outside seating as well as a bar. There is a good amount of parking, however, I recommend parking behind the restaurant and using the back door.

Ooh my where ooh where do I start! My husband and I decided to try somewhere new for sushi dinner and we were not disappointed. We have friends who frequent this place and with the 3-6pm happy hour 50% off we couldn't resist trying it. We tried the Singapore rice noodles and 4 different rolls. We tried the hunter roll, icy Alaskan, hot river and the spicy tuna rolls. Our ultimate favorite roll is the hot river roll. We will be back. Sorry i didn't include pics of the rolls and noodles we were starving lol. The rolls here are huge as well as the noodle portions. We will be back!

The food is consistently good. Pretty good service. Sushi and kitchen items do not always get served at the table at the same time. Great menu.

How have I never reviewed this place before?! I love this place and I'm usually here once a month. I sit on the patio, and Michelle, the manager is absolutely awesome and always comes to talk to us. The service is excellent, and the food is solid. I like their sushi better than a lot of places around, because it is served a little bit colder. The presentation is also gorgeous, and their sauces are really good. I'm not a huge fan of their Thai dishes, only because if I want Thai I go to Bangkok in the Southeast. Their bang bang shrimp is banging though! I usually get a Bento box, and their eggrolls are always hot, fried to perfection and particularly delicious. I have never been disappointed with anything I've gotten here and have always had a pleasant experience. Parking can be a little tricky because it's usually busy, and there are other storefronts and restaurants in the same center. If you're in Lexington, definitely add this to your list of places to try!

The food tasted great. However, we received sushi served on a greasy dirty plate. They have great happy hour prices on food as well. There's always a coupon somewhere, but pay close attention to the restrictions on them.

The food was mediocre. The service was very slow. I felt very neglected by the slow service. I eventually asked for my food to go so I could eat it at home. Not a single manager came to my table. When I try to address the slow service to the manager she seemed very uninterested. I would not recommend this unless you take your food to go. With all the competition around with better food and better service I do not see this place staying open more than another six months to a year.

LOOOVE LOOOVE this place! I moved here from Charlotte, NC.....and I have been trying to find that flavor here in Lexington. Guess what?!...... This is it!! Mmm Mmm Good!

Been here many times now and always enjoy the food. Being an Asian Fusion place, they offer, Thai,Chinese, and Japanese dishes. The food is always fresh tasting and the restaurant is very clean. The waitstaff is freindly and polite. If you go during the week 3-6pm they have 1/2 price Sushi rolls. What a deal! We always get a ton for a great price. Saturdays kids under 10 eat for $0.99!

Not the best Chinese but unlike some places the quality of the chicken itself is consistent and isn't mystery meat. Selection is thorough and the make your own Stir Fry is worth a try for something different and more on the healthy side. Restaurant itself is nice and roomy. Lunch specials are a good value. My only complaint is that it seems like the flavor of the sauces/dishes can vary a little from visit to visit, With more flavor some times over others.

Red Bowl offers a variety of foods, which I appreciate. The menu offers a variety of sushi, sashimi, Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, and Hibachi. There are several vegetarian options as well as customizable stir fry options. I especially like that they have Spicy Thai Basil Chicken and Tom Ka Kai, which I haven't found anywhere else locally. They have Bento boxes as well. The drink menu is extensive. They have draught import beers, sake, wine, martinis (several are dessert martinis). The lighting is more bright than dim, but the semi-circular booths are situated to provide somewhat of a intimate experience. The service has always been consistent, neither exception nor unsatisfactory.

This was our first time at Red Bowl. We came late on a Friday night, hoping to take advantage of the sushi and drink specials. We ordered the bang bang shrimp as an appetizer. It was very big and very breaded. My husband did not care for it, but I thought it was okay. He ordered a stir fry (hibachi style) meal with shrimp. In attempting to garnish the meals, it appeared as if they put everything they had back in the kitchen on the plate. It was pretty, I give you that. His meal was so-so. I tried his rice and it was way too gritty for our tastes. I ordered two drinks- a margarita and an apple martini. The apple martini was good, but the margarita tasted like it had cigarette ashes in it. It was atrocious. For my meal , I ordered a couple of sushi rolls. I had a California roll and the name of the second escapes my mind at this point. They were okay. Nothing to write home about, I assure you. Pretty food is nice, but good food is way better. The service was decent, but unremarkable in any way. There were only a few occupied tables, so I felt it could have been better, but we never really went without anything,so I'd rate it fair. Overall, for the price and the taste, I don't think we'll go back. It was too expensive for the quality of the food. Again, it looked great, but the taste just wasn't there.

The service here was SLOW and the food was just ok. They have lunch specials that are really big and at a good price. But, that won't help with the poor service. We waited forever for a server to come a greet us and get our drink orders. They took forever to get the drinks and get our food ordered. Noticed that we weren't the only ones receiving crappy service.

I love their sushi specials but when i mis-time my visit, everything is still peachy keen just ordering from the extensive menu. the service has always been great for us and it is one fo the few asian/sushi places with great desserts. Tirimisu was delightful. great place, highly recommended.

Well, this was disappointing. The food was OK, but the service was not up to par. For lunch, I ordered sushi with an eggroll on the side. My wife ordered beef and broccoli. Within minutes, the eggroll was brought to the table. It was not ordered as an appetizer. 10 minutes later, my wife's meal arrived but I was told that my dish was not yet ready. Another 10 minutes passed so I called the waitress over to let her know that if mine was not ready, we would just check out. Finally, she brought the sushi. Sweet waitress, but the worst table service I have seen in a long time. The sushi, sadly, was mediocre at best. One interesting note. This restaurant offers $5.00 lunch specials. However, two of the five meals offered required a $2.50 upcharge!!! If its not $5, why put it on the $5 menu??? Overall, not pleased. I would not recommend.

Excellent service at 9:30 PM on Friday night, good waiter, good food. i had egg drop soup, it was outstanding for only $1.95. With sort of chip like things, they are becoming my favorite. Had the combination appetizer for 2 for entree, a nice sample of many things, all were excellent. The crowd at this hour was thin, but one table was a little noisy, I have heard worse. I like 1. great variety of seating 2. a semi private dining room i have gotten from time to time .. very good for small meetings 3. always courteous front staff and waiters go out of their way to please 4. kitchen always seems up to the task, timely and hot delivery 5. good deal on sushi if you buy a drink... and late night deals some nights 6. coupon for half off meals at lunch time, Bento Boxes Overall, if you haven't tried it , you should.

I was there for lunch today... great food and great lunch prices. For the most part I've had good service. I eat at fusion bowl a couple of times a month and always have good experiences. Sushi is mostly what I order, except today I had the chicken & broccoli with brown rice... nice size portion and it came with a choice of soup.

There is no such thing as a bad meal at this place! I eat at Fusion Bowl at least once a month, and I've enjoyed EVERY entree I've had (never the same thing twice.) Whenever I stop in for lunch, they have $5 lunch specials, which are simply unbeatable. The atmosphere is great, and the service is fantastic. A great place for a dress/casual meal. I wouldn't suggest it for a family with small children. Every time I see a child there, they are upset, and the parents end up taking them outside.

REVIEW DECEMBER 2012: Since moving to the area a year ago, this has been our favorite place. We have been here dozens of time. This last visit we had the most awful experience. Our server knew NOTHING about the menu, could not tell us which beers were on tap (there were only 4!), messed up our order and on top of it, dumped my entire glass of red wine on my husband and daughter, ruining his jeans and her winter coat. I did not want to embarass the waitress, because she mentioned she was new. We had expected her to do something to compensate my husband who sat through the entire meal with his pants soaked. She did nothing. Asked her for a wet towel and never got it. Upon leaving we asked to speak to a manager (the hostess claimed to be the manager??) and the hostess apologized, knowing exactly which waitress was the problem before we even told her the name. She asked me if I would accept a gift card since we already paid, I said yes it was appreciated. When we got to the car we saw the receipt from the gift card and it was $10, which to me is a complete insult for the horrible experience we had and the fact that they were not willing to do anything about it and we now have to buy new pants and a new coat. The next morning I contacted Red Bowl via email to try and speak to someone who was perhaps the actual manager or owner. They NEVER responded to my concerns. I understand accidents happen, Ive been a waitress and bartender which is why I didnt embarass the server. But I also know that when you ruin somebody's clothing, you should at least take care of the bill. Im disgusted that this place would put a server on the floor SO POORLY trained and the fact that their Management has zero customer service. We will not be back, they lost a good customer. REVIEW JUNE 2012:We LOVE this place. The mongolian beef is the best we've ever had! Also love the sushi. And the thai calamari. This is a great place to have a better quality asian food!

The food has always been good, the service has not. They need knowledgeable servers that are more attentive - make sure you receive(d) everything you get charged for. Our last visit there, the sushi orders came out all mixed up and were presented with attitude (by [possible] management - can't be sure - she didn't identify herself...only wanted to prove us wrong), and some items never made it to the table. If it weren't for the good food, this would not even get 3 stars. Needs improvement.

I am not much of an Asian Food eater, but Red Bowl is pretty decent. The restaurant was not that busy (Wednesday evening dinner). We had a private party and our waitress was attentive to our party. Food came out pretty quickly after our orders were placed. Only reason I am giving this restaurant 4 stars is price - I felt that I did not get enough food for what I paid for,

We went as a family to eat lunch here during the weekend. It wasn't very busy and first appearances were impressive. Very attractive decor which was strange since it seemed so small and blah on the outside. Our server was just not there. I am not sure where he was, but he was definitely not mentally with us on this plane if you follow me. He left all 6 menus sitting on the table, which was annoying because we barely had enough room for the plates as it was, and he saw this, didn't do anything, so we eventually had to physically take menus back where they came from. The next thing was that he took our drink orders, got all the waters out, but took literally 30 minutes to bring out a Thai Iced Tea which TASTED LIKE SUGAR WATER. No straws naturally, had to ask for that too without ever getting them. Not sure what the deal was since it wasn't busy. The food was mediocre at best. We are in the middle of eating, just received the thai iced tea when he returns to tell us he needs us to go ahead and pay so he can leave. We were all astonished! Just a terrible experience overall and won't be returning!! Get new staff!!!!

This is normally the first pick when I get into town. It usually has great service, friendly sushi chefs and good food. This time, it made me want to find some place else. They charged extra to substitute tuna for salmon, were slow as could be and the drinks were much more than usual. Very disappointed. ...

I saw an ad for this place in the Free Times advertising the "50% off sushi after 8". I expected to find a dive or nasty sushi at this place but was extremely surprised. It's a little bit of a drive from downtown Columbia, but well worth it. The decor is amazing and on par with any "uppity" asian restaurant you may have visited. Like I said, after 8 pm (with 2 drinks) you get 50% all sushi; which makes it the best deal in Columbia for sushi. In addition, drinks were very reasonably priced (22oz Kirin draft for $3) . There are some interesting house specialty rolls as well as traditional rolls. They also have a "create your own" sushi where you tell the chef whatever you want in a roll and they make it (I believe some of the creations have become menu items). In addition to sushi, they have a wide variety of other Asian cuisines. I have tried the spring rolls which were also very good. Overall, I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for top-notch sushi or great asian food.
