Yummy dinner!! Just moved here from Chicago and were pleasantly surprised. The Honey Child chicken salad was the best chicken sandwich we have ever had!! The fries were crisp and the fried mushrooms were great! Also ordered the fish and chips which we good as well. We will be back to this place for sure.

I have a "potential" textile business customer in Landrum, SC. I very rarely stop by here, maybe once every year, but when I do make the trip, I invariably have lunch at the Hare & Hound. The restaurant is ideally situated on the end of Main Street Landrum. There is ample parking on both sides of the street, and behind the restaurant. I REALLY like the English pub feel of the place. They also pour a nice Guinness. I typically just get some type of sandwich, such as a Rueben, but they have daily specials that always seem to be well received. The restaurant seems to be fairly busy at lunchtime. Service has been outstanding the several times that I've eaten there. Prices are not cheap, one will easily spend $10+ for lunch here. The establishment impressed me as being clean, including the men's bathroom. If I remember correctly, there was an old timey popcorn maker near the bar. I would not hesitate to eat here again in the future.

The food is really good. I ordered the chicken quesadilla. Huge serving & very tasty. My husband got a cheeseburger & loved it. The only complaints I have would be about the flies inside & the tables could use a more thorough wipe down. Besides that, pretty good place to eat.

Um yeah. Not sure what I was thinking. Food looked decent. I knew what I wanted then last min changed my mind. Dammit ! I got one of the worst hamburgers in recent memory. Don't get me wrong it was prepared well toppings were fresh albeit way under seasoned. BUT. The bad thing about it was this god awful BBQ sauce the burger was swimming in. It's been 2 hrs since I ate & I still feel sticky ( not in a good way) & can't get rid of the taste. The fried shrooms were actually done well along with the pickles. Give this place a try just stay away from the BBQ bacon cheeseburger. Unless that's your thing. Me. I'll have the grilled chicken salad.

The absolute best place! We love coming here. Great burgers and chicken livers! Weekend specials- Prime Rib and Baby Back Ribs are to die for. Cold cold draft beer! If you order sweet potatoe fries be sure to get the dipping sauce!

Well, this place is busy considering it was between lunch and dinner. Most people were at the bar watching college football. They do have a nice beer selection of Irish beers. Being in what I consider an Irish pub, I wanted to have Irish/English food. I had the fish and chips that were anything but close to tasty. I am sure the fish was frozen because it was so mushy. The chips were just regular bagged fries. This for an over-priced $9.99. My daughter had the fried shrimp and for $10.99 received 5 medium shrimp. The one thing I would recommend is their version of shepards pie. It is a bourbon based gravy and beef topped with mashed potatoes. The meat was very tender and the gravy was excellent. The food must be pre-made because it arrived within minutes of ordering and our server never came back to ask how things were and never asked if we wanted a second drink. I might give it a second chance if im in the area.

Excellent place to end a drive through the mountains. This place has great drinks and delicious appetizers. Located right in charming downtown Landrum. Prices are most affordable for quality of food and service. Veggie patty can be substituted on any sandwich. Delicious desserts to end the meal. Folks keep coming back here. And I do too!

The food and service was simply wonderful. Farrell, our server was full of energy, very helpful and attentive. Both of our burgers were cooked to a perfect medium, as requested. Our order of fried pickles were a mile high and the loaded potatoes were full of toppings and for once I didn't have to ask for extra sour cream. No skimping in that area. I noticed in previous reviews the complaint of the food being 'expensive.' It most certainly is not, especially for how much you receive. The top notch service and overall experience is the cherry on top of everything. This place is a must try!

Waited 55 minutes after being told wait would be 15-20 minutes. Staff was rude and waitress was very unattentive. Soft drinks were filled regularly but never asked if wanted any additional beer or wine after initial glass. Waitress also brought check before we even got our food!!! I would avoid this place and go to one of the other highly rated restaurants in town.

Nice place. This was our second time going. We went with two others and we tried all the dishes. We got the Guinness pie (x2), fish and chips, and mussels appetizer. The pie was phenomenal, great flavor and tenderness. The fish and chips were great as well. The fish was a nice and flaky. The mussels were frag and done to perfection in a white wine sauce. Everything had great flavor. On top of this they have great Irish beers on tap. The service was really good as well. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star was the appetizer was not great. We got the "famous" spicy onion straws. They were't spicy first off, second they were extremely greasy and third they were very salty. I would give the straws a 1 star. However, the first time we were in we got the fried pickles and they were done pretty good.

Absolutely wonderful experience. The only thing better than the food was the service. Our server, Farrel, was first rate. Potato skins were loaded with toppings, we were served enough fried pickles to feed an army. I'm a bit of a burger snob and mine was a PERFECT medium just as I ordered. Fried shrimp was good, only criticism I can come up with would be the fries and they were well cooked, just a bit bland. Bottom line I would highly recommend The Hare and Hound to anyone.

We did lunch at Hound & Hare, everything was excellent. My club was great. My wife had the soup of the day; Southwestern, it was to die for. Service was excellent, atmosphere was great...highly recommend.

Usually great food and service, except our most recent visit. Two out of Three entrees were very good, but our friend sent the steak back after two bites because it was stringy and fatty and not to her liking. The waitress offered something else and our friend ordered a chicken salad sandwich. When the bill came she was charged for the steak instead. The waitress, who was quite apologetic, stated that the owner had tried the steak and she determined that it was fine and so our friend would be charged for the steak (minus a dollar)instead of the chicken salad sandwich! We will think twice before eating here again.

I have noticed a definite decline in performance lately. They seem to be out of things a lot more than in the past. In fact, on our last visit, the server started out with what they DON"T have. Makes me think they are starting to cut corners a little too much because I am experiencing these "shortages" on almost every visit. In addition, the quality of the food has declined too. The Hare & Hound burger used to be really good, but is getting consistently worse. My last one was just a greasy mess. The bun was soggy with grease and there was plenty grease was oozing everywhere. Ugh! There's not much left to order, it seems. They are often out of the things I like (or remember liking) and what is left is not what it used to be. We love the staff and atmosphere, but they are perilously close to losing us as regular customers.

The menu is great; however the contact with employees and customers relations was worth more than the menu items. It was a heart warming experience!

I have eaten here twice. I really liked it the first time, but my experience yesterday was terrible. The food was not bad, but the service was terrible. Our waitress - bless her - was awful. The place was busy, and she just couldn't get it together. She took orders from people seated long after we were seated, didn't refill our drinks until we were all out, and totally forgot to put my wife's order in - even after she checked on it to see why it was taking so long. It took almost 2 hours to have lunch. If the place is not very busy, then try it, but if there is a crowd find another place to eat. They just can't handle more than a few customers at a time.

H&H has a pub atmosphere and delivers very good pub food. it's a favorite of locals, and we always take visitors there for lunch. The owner, Patty Otto, is normally on-site running a very tight ship, and it shows. I have two favorites: the chicken pot pie, and the BLT. They also have a beef pot pie, but go for the chicken. The BLT is made with very thick Hickory smoked bacon -- the best I've tasted. Like spicy food? Check out the onion rings. If you're a Black & Tan fan, order it here. They do a good job making it from scratch. It's not a trendy place with a hundred beers on tap, but you won't be disappointed with the tap selection. There's also a full bar.

Awesome food and great atmosphere! The mile high meatloaf is awesome. Also, a great time to visit is Halloween because everyone is dressed up.
