Went here for my seventh anniversary for something easy and delicious and was impressed. Had an appetizer boom boom shrimp was fantastic had the overstuffed poorboy with shrimp absolutely amazing their hand cut fries are crispy and to die for with malt vinegar and ketchup. The waitress was nice but the lacked personality for this type of job and didn't know how to add to make sure I was 21 years of age but other than that everything was fantastic would recommend and would go again

The fried pickles were ok the top row of them. Just a basic dill pickle in fact a cheap probably gallon jug of them. The bottom layer was nothing but grease. I got chicken tenders and fries the chicken tenders must have been put in fryer before it was up to temp because the tenders were soggy and oil in bottom of basket. I would not recommend this place to anyone

Shugs is a great BBQ joint with great service to boot! They have great $7 lunch specials. Don't miss the amazing brisket or the tabasco braised collard greens.

This is one of my favorite places to eat in Hartsville! I've never had a bad meal at Shugs. Sandwiches are reasonably priced, steaks are big, homemade chips are awesome. The atmosphere is cool, a little dark inside at times. We've had long waits but never too bad. The food is always worth the wait.

Everyone really enjoyed their meals. We had a large group and everyone was served at the same time. I had a mushroom Swiss burger and for only $8 it was wonderful! The brisket sandwich my husband had was tender and delicious. Dessert was slow in coming but our waitress was attentive and had a great sense of humor!

We discovered Shug's about a year ago. We've been many times, being so impressed with it we bring friends often. I love how the waitstaff, as slammed as they can be, keep it together. I have never had a meal that was not delicious and appealing. I enjoy the salmon. I enjoyed the grouper sandwich I think it was once? I enjoyed the prime rib and crab legs another time...and I just LOVE their scallops appetizer. We have not yet had a negative dining experience at Shug's and for me, that is very unusual as my karma with food is quite legendary. Two choices for seating: Front room which is non-smoking or the back, next to the bar, which is smoking, TV, and spacious seating for groups. We sat outside last time I think because it was so crowded inside. But even that was wonderful as we were never forgotten about by the waitress. The bathrooms are clean, too. So yeah, we love it.

We waited for an hour for our food, the owner seemed unconcerned by the wait time. She walked by our table 3 times while we waited without asking how we were. My husband pointed out 3 couples had come and gone since we arrived. She said they may have ordered something easier to cook! What takes less time than kiddie steak bites, mini burger, sandwiches and baked fish? She then gave us 20 percent off, I guess that should make it all better that we waited so long with 3 starving kids. The brisket sandwich was greasy, kids burger burnt, French dip sandwich was on a hard croosaint (gross). Fish and kids steak bites good. Hubby Was made to feel like we were only concerned with getting a discount, far from the truth.. We are more than willing to pay for good food and service. Waiter even perturbed with our wait time since this was not a busy night.

My girlfriends and I love to meet up here for our "ladies night out" away from our kids :) The food is tasty and the drinks are yummy too. The Fried Shrimp is wonderful, I've heard the burgers are delish as well.

We had a party of 7 and were seated quickly. I had the hamburger steak and fries lunch special in my wife had spinach salad and alligator bites. Others had ribs, salad and chili. The alligator was delicious. Eggs in the salad were frozen. Everything else was kind of mediocre. The ice tea was good sweetened with honey. There was free wifi but it had very poor coverage. The building looks very authentic and old. It was a nice setting. The service was nice and the bathrooms were clean. I would be here again.
