Based on the Yelp reviews, I made the trip up to Mutts. Well worth it! First, I was fortunate enough to go on buffet night. Currently this is Monday and Wednesday during the week. There were 3 meat choices and lots of sides. The meats were pulled chicken, spare ribs and pulled pork. The meats had good flavor, and I tried several sauces. I will admit to watching the buffet and seeing when fresh meats were put out based on a previous review that stated some meats were dry under the buffet lights... so I was pleased with what I had. A note about the ribs: lots of places claim to have fall off the bone ribs... yet diners can be seen all over the restaurant gnawing meat off the bones. My thought is that if the meat won't fall off the bone, you really shouldn't claim that, right? Well Mutt's can make that claim. My ribs were truly fall off the bone tender. That was a big plus for Mutt's, but not even the best part of the meal. As you may have read from others... there is the Sweet Potato Crunch. It was on the buffet and that was dangerous. They could probably call it Sweet Potato Creme Brulee it was that good. I understand that there were desserts available on the buffet, but I found my treasure for this meal. Smooth, creamy, sweet potato topped with a thick (nearly 1/2 inch) layer of crunchy brown sugar, pecan, buttery topping. It was the yummy goodness! I wish I could have had more than the three helpings that left me loosening my belt. The wait staff was friendly and inviting. They figured out that I was in Greenville on business and chatted it up with me about how I found them and wished me a safe trip home. I told them I would see them again.

Very salty, like overpowering all the food. Decent selection - corn, sweet potato, green beans, hush puppies, dessert. Didn't like the ribs but the pulled pork and chicken were good. The shrimp wasn't cleaned and was drenched in some butter/salt sauce (not sure). The sweet tea was good. Having the choice, I really wouldn't go back. I was thirsty for two days straight from all the salt.

We came to Mutts today for a late lunch and it was very good! The sauce was good (not the best I've ever had though), pulled pork was very tender, and they had a good selection of tasty sides. Service was very friendly too. The only things that I wish they had were corn fritters ( but not everyone has these, in fact most places don't) and they didn't have hash. I'm not sure if they don't do hash or just didn't have it today though. We will be back for some more tasty q!

WOW!!! Awesome! I can't believe for $10.25 you can get an al you can eat BBQ lunch, with a water, and they would serve RIBS! The place was clean and service was fast. The buffet had lots of sides to try and several meats. The meats included: St Louis Ribs, chopped pork, chopped chicken, fried chicken, fried chicken tenders and some other stuff. The pork was good, it was lightly smoked. The ribs were pilled high and tasty. None of the meats had sauce on it which allowed you to choose the sauce you liked the most. The sauces were good, but nothing over the top. The mustard sauce did not please my palate. To much mustard and not enough bbq sauce flavor. The hot and mild sauces tasted the same to me, but the hot was my favorite. The sides were really good!!! My favorite two items were the mac n cheese and the seasoned wedge potatoes. All the sides I tried were really good, but those two were my favorite! Don't worry about stacking your plate to the max on the first go about, once you sit down they bring you an additional plate if you need it.

I live in California, but my mother lives in South Carolina. I am physically unable to visit her without making a trip (or three) to Mutt's. Keeping the Southern BBQ game forever strong in my heart while out here in the desolate land of Southern California.

March 17: My husband and I stopped in for the lunch buffet this week. I was pleasantly surprised. When walking in the front door, I noticed that the restaurant was extremely clean. That immediately made my day. I grabbed my tray and tried to take in all of the awesomeness that was the buffet bar. There was chopped pork and chicken, fried shrimp, coleslaw, baked beans, bbq chicken and a ton of other things. I'm a picky eater so I only tried a handful of items from the bar but they were all amazing. I noticed that whenever someone put food on their plate, there was a person behind the bar keeping it tidy and picking up bits of food that fell from the metal containers. I was really impressed. The only thing that I would have changed is the dessert bar. There was a pudding dessert that would have been so much better if the whipped cream on top hadn't separated because it sat out for so long. Ultimately this place gets several thumbs up from me. I'm not normally a forgiving judge but Mutts deserves a high rating for the amazing food and decent wait staff. March 21st: I am highly dissapointed this time around. The only good thing about this trip was the fried fish. Too many screaming children, under done pork and shitty wait staff seemed to be the only thing in the cards for us today. I'm really dissapointed. Not sure if we will make a trip back. Not worth the drive.

Really good food. Buffet style, I went for lunch 2 days in a row when I was working in the area. The fried chicken was excellent, pulled pork was excellent, ribs were good. I had sweet potato crunch for the 1st and that stuff was addicting!! The place was packed both days.

Very southern BBQ! Ribs are amazing, falls off the bone and date I say, you don't even need BBQ sauce. However if you are going BBQ sauce they have mild, hot which is not hot at all and mustard which I'm ready to buy bottles of! First round I got the sweet potatoes but could see and later forked into large hard lumps of brown sugar. This was too sweet! And I never say too sweet. Still tasted great though. The green bean casserole was too salty. The corn, beans and ribs- 5 stars! Had the pulled pork, also very good but you put your own sauce on so wasn't fabulous to me. Cole slaw also a 5! It gets busy here fast. Parking lot was full. They also offer ice cream bars and a dessert bar with wonderful southern comfort foods. Thank goodness this doesn't exist in Chicago-I'd have to workout like crazy after eating this amazing buffet food all the time!!

Our first time eating here today, and we are impressed. The food is very good, the folks working here are friendly, and the dinning area and buffet are very clean. The fireplace and trains are a great decorative touch. Stop in for some good down home buffet. You won't be dissapointed.

Iama Critic Rating - Mutts BBQ Restaurant - 5 Stars 101 West Road, Greer, SC Overall: Practically identical to the Mutt's in Easley and that is a very good thing. Nice array of buffet items and some of the best fried chicken we have ever enjoyed. All at a phenomenal price of only $9.00! Sure we have had better BBQ, but at this price level Mutt's simply blows the rest away and earns 5 Stars! Mutt's is the value leader BBQ joint in the Upstate. $8.99 - Buffet - 5 Stars Mutt's BBQ's $8.99 BBQ buffet includes a large assortment of fantastic meat items, including phenomenal pulled pork and fried chicken, bbq ribs, and pulled chicken. Various Buffet Items: 5 Stars - brunswick stew 5 Stars - oreo cookie desert 5 Stars - sweet potato crunch 5 Stars - pulled pork 5 Stars - fried chicken 5 Stars - biscuits 4 Stars - grilled chicken (a bit dry) 4 Stars - macaroni and cheese 4 Stars - BBQ beans 4 Stars - fried okra 4 Stars - crusty coated fries 3 Stars - meaty ribs (a bit overdone) 3 Stars - carrots 3 Stars - pasta shells salad 3 Stars - coleslaw 3 Stars - crunchy hush puppies

Mutt's BBQ was not so great. Big portions, but lacking flavor. My nephew really liked the train and the ice cream. The ice cream was actually not made by Mutt's. I expected great things based on the reviews but was let down. I'm not going to judge Carolina BBQ on this place. The best items were the fried chicken and sweet potatoes. If you're looking for quantity this is your place. If you want quality go to Dinosaur BBQ in Syracuse.

Fantastic BBQ, deserts and employees. This Ol Boy from Wichita, Kansas gives this place Two Thumbs up! Even though I'm usually not a big BBQ Person, a steady diet of this would change my mind!

Good BBQ and lots of it at very reasonable prices. Not a place you want to visit very often unless you plan on doing the same with either your gym or the doctor. Plan on napping afterwards or at the very least, don't schedule any meetings. Trust me, I have done that and suffered for it. The food is very enjoyable although not classic by any means. It is average but sometimes that is good enough. Staff is friendly enough but you don't end up interact with them much due to self serve buffet style.

We were looking for a good BBQ ribs place and we found a great all you can eat for less than $10 place that includes but is not limited to BBQ ribs which are simply delicious.

Smoke, meat, and southern goodness is what you'll find here. Bring an appetite because you'll want to sample the plentiful plethora of piled-on pork provisions. See what I did there? Of course you'll also find a wide assortment of side dishes including hush puppies, mac and cheese, fried okra, and of course sweet potato crunch (spread some on the fried chicken, your head will explode and then you will thank me). The fried chicken is phenomenal. I had one round of the pulled pork and some slaw on a bun with their sauce, but mainly stuck to the ribs as soon as I discovered there was a bit of room left in my stomach. All of the food was surprisingly fresh for being a cafeteria type set up. You typically don't expect too high quality of food when you're one step away from having a waitress strapping a feed bag to your face with an amalgamation of southern friend goodness and bbq (which i would not have minded in the least). I've only been for lunch both times I've visited and recommend getting there before noon to beat the lunch rush. If you're traveling on business in Greenville, which I was, this place seemed to be a big hit with some of the guys I was working with. Down home cooking, great quality, and really great unpretentious food.

I hate sweet potatoes but here they are incredible. Meatloaf is out of this world. They offered my son desert even though he wasn't eating. This all you can eat buffet for less than 10 bucks will hurt you because you can't stop eating the great food. Service is wonderful. Seems like everyone cares. I'm so impressed!!

I'm from the south and had the opportunity to travel. The barbecue here is ok. Nothing to jump up and down about. It's very bland with little to no flavor. The waitresses are very sweet and polite. However they are really just table cleaners. The building is a beautiful log house. The fried chicken is horrible. The skin was amazing however the meat it self was very tough and had no flavor. The Mac-n-cheese honestly tasted like was only noodles with American cheese. I am love barbecue and have tasted barbecue from MS, New Orleans to South Carolina. This barbecue is at the bottom. The price is excellent. We paid $37 for two adults and two kids. But the quality of food is not great. Best of luck.

$9 for a high quality buffet? Yes, it's here! Everything was good. If this was in Ohio it would be $12, the food would be iffy and the service would suck. Mutts, please don't change. (except hire a dishwasher! Get rid of the styrofoam plates & plastic forks)

Fabulous food at a price that keeps us coming back. Our out of town guests also love it. Sweet potato crunch is a must try. Very nice wrap around porch with outdoor seating. Clean. If you are coming with a full group be aware that it can be swamped with parking out to the street during prime times. I can't make it past one plate without being 110% stuffed!

I found the Mutts location in Greer to be very clean with a more spacious and quiet dining experience that I have seen at other Mutts locations. That said I was a little disappointed in the BBQ, I found it to be a bit dry as a result of sitting out under Buffet lights, but the meat did have a good flavor and I liked the vinegar based sauce. (you have to ask for it its not on the table). Overall not a bad buffet BBQ dining experience and worth a try but not my favorite

Excellent BBQ but I hesitate to give this place more stars since my ribs were undercooked. Way too much red meat for pork to be safe to eat. I didn't get salmonella but I was a bit nervous.

Avoid this place. Terrible wait staff and mediocre food. I will never step foot back in this place

As a NC native I was pleasantly surprised with this SC BBQ although I couldn't bring myself to try the mustard sauce. Good BBQ with lots of great sides especially for the price. I would definitely eat here if I'm ever in the area again.

thought this place was going to be great since everyone in greer never shuts up about it. it was ok. we went during the buffet. wasnt too pricy, bout 9 bucks. you get a tray and you go to this tiny buffet window. pulled pork, ribs and pulled chicken. pretty good. then theres stuff like mac n cheese, baked beans etc. not a lot of seating room, tho. oh, but the oreo pudding pie ruled

My first ever all-you-can-eat bbq buffet. I have to admit, pretty solid. The prices were SO affordable. The ribs were tender and flavorful. I tried to take a bite size sample of everything they offered. There were plenty of side dish options, too. We forced ourselves to go through the buffet twice....ugh. Not my smartest moment - as I spent the following few hours in stomach stretching agony. My second round did include another helping of ribs, mac & cheese, and hush puppies. I figured I would get my fix for the next month or so just on this trip alone. But I hate to say I am craving another visit. The staff was helpful and friendly. The restaurant was clean and staff members were constantly cleaning up. The rest rooms were also well managed. Overall, I was genuinely impressed and will be back....likely sooner than planned. I do, however, wish the had a hotter version of the bbq sauces...I prefer just a touch more heat.

Amazing BBQ. We tried both the pork and chicken--definitely go with the pork. We also got ribs, and OHMYGOD. Both the ketchupy sauce and the mustard sauce were delicious. You MUST get the crunchy sweet potato side. It's like a sweet potato casserole but the best part, the crunchy top (composed of brown sugar, butter, nuts) is all mixed in. Heart attack in a spoon. Delicious! The green beans were superb, the cole slaw was ok, but good enough to scoop onto my chopped pork BBQ sammy. If you're ever in the Greenville area, it's definitely worth the short drive to Greer to Mutt's.

The best BBQ in the upstate! Simple. And now is a buffet, can't get better the that! Our favorites items are the ribs, macaroni and cheese and their hush puppies. :0)

If you are looking for good BBQ at a great buffet price under $10 this is the place. Buffet has all the fixings, macaroni and cheese, green beans, hush puppies... Along with BBQ chicken and ribs, everything we had was good. To top it all off price includes tea/drink and selection of dessert, peach cobbler or pudding. Close to the airport and definitely worth a stop.

For the price its outstanding. $8.99 and it was all you can eat. The food is actually very very good as well. The Pulled Pork and Mac & Cheese are two that must be tried. The only issue we had was that bins would empty or be near empty and nothing seemed to get refilled for far too long. We were there early (around 5pm), so we are hoping that that is the reason for it. Looking forward to going back.

I completely agree with Cristina R. Amazing BBQ. I'm from Cincinnati, and I have had Texas BBQ, Kansas City and many others and this could definately compete. Blows Cincinnati's own Montgomery Inn out of the water. Two people ate here very heartily for $25 plus tip. I ordered the special of the day (All you can eat BBQ & Ribs with 2 sides). The portions were gigantic... i only took the 1st serving... The mustard sauce and the mild sauces were very good and the pork itself had a really good flavor. The ribs were really good, but a tiny bit stringy, I've had better, but they were still very good. I had green beans and the crunchy sweet potato side... omg... i will be dreaming about that crunchy sweet potato side for the next month... you have to get this if you go to Mutts... The service was extremely friendly and very helpful to a first timer. They do a counter service and also have someone wandering around offering to help you, refill your drink, chat about the weather. So very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was cute and they had a couple model train displays that were really neat and a train that runs around above the main room. If you are visiting or just passing through Greenville... you have got to take the minor detour and visit Mutts. Worth every minute!

Mutts BBQ in Greer has "pig powder" to sprinkle on their pulled pork, pulled chicken and ribs. The food is excellent quality for the price - the $8.99 every day buffet includes a drink & dessert.

Mutt's is my BBQ of choice in the Upstate. The best time to go is on Monday's for the lunch buffet. Great selection of BBQ and sides. Pulled pork and ribs are super! The ultimate side at Mutt's is the Sweet Potato Crunch...a MUST HAVE. Friendly staff, clean restaurant, nice theme.
