Local place right out of Mayberry! Cheap burgers and fries and other things. You can tell this is a place where the locals go on a regular basis. I swear it seemed like everybody knew everybody else. Counter style seating added to the charm. You never know who you might sit next to. On one of my visits, the owner was sitting at one of those stools eating his lunch. Very simple fare but tasty and a neat experience to boot.

As others have mentioned, the food is ho-hum; I can't say for sure whether they cook the burgers from a raw state, or they're simply reheated. Visit for the nostalgia/atmosphere. It could be a five star place if they'd concentrate on making the food better, which wouldn't be difficult.

Food has went down hill, iv heard they switched managers and since i heard that the food shows, service is a joke, they sure do love their job. They never smile, one woman had been here for awhile and i dont see how she is the most unfriendly person iv ever met. They let the beat person they had go

I know that this is an icon in Greenwood, however that is pretty much the only reason I have found to go there. The place is always busy and crowded so it may be that mine was just a not so great experience. The burgers and fried chicken seemed to be the most popular entrees. We had the turkey sandwich, which was just plain deli meat. We also had onion rings, which were not bad, but nothing to write home about. The apple turnover seemed store bought and then reheated. The service friendly, but servers are busy and the place is hectic.

Loved the Dixie since my days attending Lander U. Favorite is the Dixie cheese half and half (cheeseburger served with half onion rings and half french fries ) and a tea half sweet/unsweetened.

Locals rave about this place. I married a girl who attended Lander and she loves this place. For me, it's just like 100 other diners I've been to...greasy burgers, fries, and onion rings. This is another example of over hyping a restaurant because it's been there for a long time. I don't get the fuss!

The place is an icon around here, and the food is fine. The service is fast, a bit hectic. There's this really big u-shaped dining bar that takes you back to the 50s. It's a place to go for a fun experience, but there are better burgers to be had elsewhere.

Best diner in town. Great atmosphere. Love the Dixie cheese half and half. Also great to go food for the area.

This is my favorite dive in Greenwood. I grew up with it. When I moved away for 10 years, it was always a stop when I came back. I just moved back and was happy to find that nothing much has changed. I think that's a good thing in a world of ever-updating menus. Sometimes you just gotta stick with what works. To me, the good is great, but I wonder how much of what I'm tasting is nostalgia. Either way, their homemade cherry coke is great, and I usually stick with the Dixie Cheese half-and-half. Sometimes I get that shrimp plate on Saturday night. Even the staff hasn't changed very much. That must mean they treat them pretty well. If you're in town, treat yourself to this old world treasure.

I wanted to visit this place again before I submitted a review. As of today I have tried their hot dogs in plain, topped with slaw, topped with chili, cheeseburger, corn dog and crinkle cut fries. Oh, and sweet tea! I get the appeal for locals looking for a quick bite at a local staple. The food is decent and folks seem pretty nice. The food quality is consistent with similar establishments, and I'm reluctant to be too critical of an establishment that isn't trying to churn out or compete with gourmet burgers, dogs and steaks. For a "drive-in" this place holds it down and remains on my "should visit" list. Just set your expectations accordingly.

Love this place. The food is standard fast food stuff but from a local vendor. The atmosphere is what makes this restaurant. Its full of local people and someone normally strikes up a conversation with you. Staff are polite and friendly. Would I go again absolutely.

I grew up eating a Dixie Cheese, half and half, and a cherry sprite most weekends. This place is a part of Greenwood and has been here since the 50's. I occasionally get an overwhelming craving to eat here. It's quick, cheap, fast food. It's not the best burger in town but it is a taste that reminds me most of home and of growing up.

Food is good and it's great they have been there forever. However, when I was finishing my cup of water I looked through the ice and there was a dead roach at the bottom. I understand that things happen but the waitress acted like it was no big deal and barely apologized. She took the cup to the manager (owner?) and she shrugged it off and didn't even bother to come over and say anything. I assume it must happen often.

This has been here for what seems like forever. I have been eating here all my life. Food is great. Good hotdogs, and if you like burgers than a Dixie cheese is for you.

I don't understand why everyone loves the dixie burger so much. It's not that great. It tastes like every other redneck burger place in Greenwood, SC. The bread of the burgers tastes like it was bought in bulk through bi-lo or something, the meat is about average, and the fries are that same crinkle cut crap you see at every burger joint here.

The best burger joint I've ever been too! Great service, and highly recommended!

Dixie is a friendly place to go. The waitresses are pretty entertaining. But the food is just pretty ordinary. Good, but ordinary.

It's a drive-in, what do you expect. Fast, friendly service. Hot fries and rings. A well done burger topped with chili and slaw. Tasty. Glad we found this place.

Looks like it's been around since the 50's. All the seating is along two long counters, each with their own waitress. Lots of locals eating here. Simple menu consisting of burgers and other typical diner options. I was disappointed that they wouldn't do a rare burger, but not surprised. The double bacon cheeseburger I had was okay. Nothing special and nothing I'll be craving anytime soon, but okay. Fries came out extra crispy as ordered and are the crinkle cut variety, which seems to be the local style. Service was friendly.
