Best sushi in town and a tradition in my family. The atmosphere is very relax and we always seem to get fresh delicious sushi

This place isn't bad. You get a lot of sushi for your money. We ordered two platters and two rolls. The sushi is above average, but not excellent. I have had better sushi. However, if you like a very spicy tuna roll, then this is a good place to get one. The presentation on the platters is average. The volcano roll was better in presentation as it was covered in crab, spicy mayo, and fish eggs. Overall, ok place to eat sushi.

This is a poorly run sushi restaurant we actually had to tell our waitress how to make certain rolls, they used regular rice and the rolls were loose. Sushi is cut poorly and service was below par. The price was decent considering the experience

Best sushi I've had in Greenville. Atmosphere is decent, service is courteous but a little slow. Fish is fresh and a great value which counts for the most.

A ho hum sushi place with a modernized look and feel? Check. Servers who are unenthusiastic about serving and take forever to get to you? Check. Food that taste average at best? Check. Nothing exciting here. But not a bad place go to "if" there are no better options available. :)

The food was wonderful, the service was far from it. We had 3 different girls helping us. When we were seated I didn't have any napkins or silverware until we had already gotten our salads and soup. When they have me my sushi my husband had to wait 20 mins after I got my food before his was served. So I had to sit there looking at my food because I didn't want to eat without him. Just disappointed in the service.

I am sorry that I did not trust the reviews of my fellow yelpers. Instead I listened to the opinion of a real-life friend. I have a friend who convinced me that Sushi Hana has one of the best lunch specials in Greenville. I mentioned that I had read some negative reviews, but he assured me that the Sunday lunch special is so different and that the food is worth the price. Dear yelpers, it wasn't. While Sushi Hana offers a Sunday lunch buffet, I had the impression that they weren't really committed to the idea of having a Sunday lunch buffet. For instance, the sign noting hours of operation says "Closed" on Sundays. Another thing is that the plates for the buffet are dinner appetizer plates that are about six inches in diameter. This means that patrons can get only appetizer-sized portions at a time. The small plates are an obvious attempt to prevent people from being wasteful and overly gluttonous, but the really tiny plates are inconvenient and kind of a deterrent for wanting to go back. I would also like to mention that the price per person is $15 rather than the $12 mentioned in a review from a month ago. The buffet is very limited, and nothing at the bar is very good. I had some of the non-sushi items, and many of them were bland and mushy. I think Sushi Hana is committed to making money on Sundays and not to making good food. The sushi was bad. I wonder if Sushi Hana uses this Sunday deal as a way to get rid of leftover cuts of fish. I sincerely hope that the quality of fish they served today is not the same that they serve throughout the week. The nigiri selection is almost entirely shrimp and crab stick. The sushi chef will occasionally add a piece of mackerel or yellowtail or salmon or tuna nigiri--but these pieces appear infrequently and are taken by customers as soon as they are placed on the tray. I really like mackerel--I like that the taste is fishy and salty and Sushi Hana's mackeral was overall pretty good. The yellowtail was rubbery and broke apart into weird chunks in my mouth. I had two pieces of salmon--one piece was bland and the other was actually pretty good. I picked up one piece of tuna (or what I thought was tuna)--I did not eat the tuna because the color was very irregular. I inspected the tuna when I sat back down--while it did not smell fishy or pungent, the color was an inconsistent purple-ish brown instead of a steady red or pink. The tuna also appeared to be irregularly cut--either with the grain of the fish or from a fibrous piece of fish. I feel terrible being wasteful--especially with sushi--but I just could not will myself to eat the tuna nigiri. The sushi rolls were okay. I think that they had too much rice and noticed that they were not very solid (they fell apart easily). I want to end my discussion of the sushi by saying that I don't think that the fish was improperly handled or that it will make someone sick, I just think that the quality of the fish is very poor. I have eaten premade sushi from Publix or even sushi at Hibachi Grill & Buffet. I expected Sushi Hana to have similar or better quality. Honestly, this was some of the worst sushi I have ever had. The quality of the fish is terrible. I am giving two stars because the service was fast and friendly, and the restaurant is cute and clean. Greenville has so many great sushi restaurants and so many great places to enjoy a weekend buffet--Sushi Hana is not on either list of greatness for me.

Let's just say that it's some of the best sushi that I have ever had. Had sushi all over the country and hard to find sushi as good as this. Also they have some of the best sweet tea, no joke. The stay is super friendly, good relaxed atmosphere and the pricing is moderate. Great place to take a date or hang out with a friend.

Was really looking forward to this place but the food was bland, the menu mundane and not vegetarian friendly, presentation was boring and uninspired -not acceptable with sushi. And very lackadaisical service. Waited to get a drink, waited to order, needed to ask for everything's (napkins, silverware) and waited to get check. I never tip 10%, rarely even 18%. I tipped a little over 12%. Subpar. Glad we had a coupon.

I'm usually generous in a review, but this establishment has some epic fails... Everything from soft/old fish to Miso soup which was so thick it was like consuming salty warm gelatin. This place regularly fails on freshness, which is of the utmost importance with sushi. It is almost like the chef just throws the rolls together; might as well let me roll my own...

Insiders tip: Please come on Sundays when there is a buffet available for like 12 bucks which include a wide array of sushi, salads, soups, meats, and rice. I would advise only coming here on Sundays. Please come early at 12 since people start lining up early and the restaurant is pretty small.

I came here on Friday night with my family. The restaurant had just opened (it opens at 5:30 on Fridays) and it was already packed by the time I got there at 5:50. It seemed like there weren't enough servers for how many tables there were, and subsequently the service was sort of slow and just basically not very good. The sushi was really good. Altogether, we got a philidephia, california, spicy tuna, volcano (I think it was?), teriyaki salmon, tuna avocado, baja california, and hawaiian roll, which had mangoes in it! It was a lot of sushi for the price. I would come back, just not on a weekend night.

Came here for dinner last night with a group of friends since it was in the area. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated with the typical modern asian flair that you probably find at most Americanized sushi restaurants. We were quickly seated and given waters to drink. Sushi Hana seems to have specials or happy hours every day of the week. Yesterday was $3 Draft beers (Sapporo or Kirin). They also give you 10% off your check if you pay with cash! For my meal, I ordered a house salad with ginger, a spicy salmon avocado roll, and a california sunrise roll. The house salad was small but tasty, and the sesame ginger dressing was refreshing. Both rolls (around 8 pieces) were pretty good too. The spicy salmon roll had the perfect rice to fish ratio and came topped with siracha and spicy mayo(?) sauces. I preferred this to the california sunrise, which was a fried roll loaded with spicy kani salad and presented in a cocktail glass. Kind of cute. The spicy kani was good, but the roll itself was bland. My bill only came out to be $14 for all of these items! For the price, I would give this place 4 stars, but I've had better rolls at other places. Still, a solid place to dine. Would come again if I was in the area.

Sushi Hana has been my favorite sushi restaurant in Greenville for almost 5 years. Last night my experience completely changed that. It was one thing after another it seems. The table we were seated at was sticky. It was hot and they had the overhead fans on, with the lights behind the fans it felt like you were in a dungeon with the lights flashing on you. We ordered two glasses of Cabernet and she brought one glass and 10 minutes later, finally showed up with the second glass. Turns out it wasn't even what we ordered. The sushi wasn't good and the service was awful. The waitress never came to check on us between bringing the wrong wine and when our first sushi roll came out. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. I've been telling my boyfriend about "my favorite sushi place in Greenville" for months and now he will never go back!

I went today with my husband and enjoyed the wonderful dinner at Sushi Hana. I ordered miso soup and a salad my husband as well. Soup was very good and service was fast. As main course my husband ordered Japanese stake. He says meat was tender well seasoned and vegetables were cooked good. I ordered tempura sushi without cheese. I enjoyed it and i was very satisfied. I'm not an expert but let me say i have tried a lot of sushi places and I'm sure this is on of the best places. I don't have any complaints about service. We went on a Saturday night and place was busy . Some people complain about service but i felt they serviced us in a timely manner. I appreciate the tip our server gave me about my sushi choice. Overall this small and cozy restaurant is a good choice to enjoy Japanese food.

Used to be my favorite sushi buffet but the price has increased and the quality has declined in my opinion. Maybe managements changed in the past two years but the product isn't as fresh as it once was and the best things on the buffet have been removed to cut costs im sure.

I eat here about 5 times a year and historically it has been a great place to go... never again. Things went south from the moment we were seated. We checked online to see if the early special was available on Saturday, and under the current menu section of the website the menu displays Mon-Sat. It's not just the price that is nice, but the menu selection during this time is vastly different. You can choose small samples of otherwise unavailable items. Having checked online we were surprised when our waitress informed us that that menu was unavailable. She was then compelled to bring a visual aid (a printed menu with the days having been scribbled out and edited to reveal that Saturday was not an option). This was done in a rude, 'I told you so" manner that would delightfully continue throughout the meal. We then ordered, which consists of marking your actual order on the menu with a marker. Once the first items arrived, she placed the wrong plate order of sushi on the table. when I advised I had not ordered this particular roll she said "no that's what you wrote". Thankfully the woman seated at the table behind me was having a similar dining experience and yelled "that's mine". The waitress rolled her eyes and took it away. Later she brought out a plate of chilled tofu smothered in green onions and fish flakes. my dining companion smiled and in a friendly way advised her that she had ordered the GRILLED tofu not the CHILLED tofu. The waitress replied that this IS what she ordered. My companion advised that it was not, and asked what was covering the tofu to which the waitress replied "I don't know I never ate it". My companion then further explained that the grilled tofu was marked as a vegetarian item and should not be covered in fish flakes (nor being freezing cold absent of any grill marks). She waitress said 'What do you want me to do, bring out a empty plate?" I asked her to take it away and bring back a menu so she could order something else. After showing her on the menu the two different items (chilled tofu with fish flakes and GRILLED tofu vegetarian) She brought out the same bowl of wet, cold, never-touched-a-grill tofu covered in grossness. She said that they were just messing up in the kitchen and that someone was having back spasms. Like I need to know that! We also had to ask about another item that was forgotten about, and I wondered if she might argue with us about that too. Sushi was okay. The tuna was good quality. The vegetable tempura came absent the usual dipping sauce. I'm sure if we had asked about it the waitress would have informed us that it always comes this way. One of my rolls had a piece containing shrimp tail with no shrimp in it. When she brought our check she advised that she took the tofu off the bill, but not in a nice way. Then after she returned the receipt we sat there for 10 minutes waiting for her to bring a pen so we could write her a tip. The irony was not lost on us. Overall the food was okay, but not great. The rude, know it all attitude, and complete lack of customer service ruined the experience.

The prices keep climbing and the quality keeps declining. Slivers of fish hacked to thin little scraps, less variety and less creativity. This former loyalty card holder won't be back.

I have eaten at Sushi Hana on a regular basis over the past several years. The food is above average with a great ginger salad but the service has always been slightly below. Recently however it seems the owner isn't interested in the business any longer. I live across town so it is a trek to eat there. The past two times I have made the 20-30m trek have been worthless. The 1st time we arrived at 15m before their listed closing time to find the chairs on top of the table, we walked in the unlocked door next to the OPEN sign and the hostess stated bluntly and unapologetically "we are closed" I questioned their hours and she restated the same. We left and I simply accepted this as a one time incident. Two months later I decided to give them another chance. This time we came in 50 minutes before closing. There were people still sitting and eating but the hostess stated that they were doing take out orders only. I asked to speak to the owner and explained that his not sticking to his stated hours causes people like ourselves waste time driving across town and that he was ultimately loosing customers because of it. He simply said "I know..." no apology no offer to resolve the problem. I will not be going back. In the food service business you plan to seat customers until your listed closing time and expect to work servicing those customers for an 30-60m beyond that while you clean and prep for the following day. If you want to be leaving at 10 you list your closing time at 9 not 10 and turn people away at 9:30!

The edamame and sushi rolls (sesame chicken, firecracker, and Hawaiian) we ordered were fresh and tasty. The service however, was lacking. We visited on a Monday evening. Ordering slow. The edamame app came with our sushi which was annoying. drink refills slow.... The food was great too bad the service was sub par.

I love all of their noodle soups so delicious! I especially love the eel with rice. I was made to perfection and very flavorful. I went back the second time just for that dish. My only compliant is that the sushi was made poorly given that there were 3 sushi chef. I would never recommend getting sushi there. Update: second visit The restaurant got busy, and the waitress FORGOT about us! I waved for 15 mins for ANYONE to get the check but no one notice. I had to get up and walk to the waitress and ask directly! After waiting for 10 more mins i finally got the check. WORST service ever!

Giving this restaurant 3 stars. The food is great and I'd give the food 4 stars, BUT, the service is far from 4 stars. I'd give the service 2 stars. Service is slow and lagging. Do not come here if you're in a hurry.

If I want sushi in Greenville, go here. The only draw-back to this place is that they're somewhat slow during the lunch hour. Not sure why. But if that's not a concern to you, then I highly recommend this place for sushi.

2 of us stopped by there on Sunday. He had only been there once, for lunch (and loved it!) I had never been there. The place was packed! We had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. On Sunday, they offer an all you can eat buffet of miso soup, salad, a variety of sushi/sashimi, and many different Japanese meals. There were potstickers, ribs with vegetables, tofu... a feast! Only when we were seated, we didn't realize that. We saw folks getting up and going to the buffet (set up at the sushi bar), but we didn't know if there was a menu to order from, or what the procedure was. After a few minutes, we flagged down a server to ask what to do, she then explained about the buffet (since our server never bothered). Sigh. That was the only real hiccup though. The food was a tasty variety of textures and flavors. LOVED the sushi and sashimi... and WANT WANT WANT more of those ribs! Will I go back? Yes! And I will bring friends. And this time, if we go on a Sunday, I'll be in the know about what in the world to do - in case our server doesn't bother to tell us.

I'm writing this while I'm here so first of all, the bathroom is very well maintained. However, their tables are so close together that you have to say sorry so many times to who ur sitting with because you'll be kicking them 24/7. Their food was pretty good but serving size is small. Overall, the people their was nice :)

I have been to a number of different sushi places that are both over the top or a hole in the wall. This place was nothing special. The rice seemed undercooked and the fish wasnt that fresh, however it wasnt horrible. The service was ok as well. I chose this place becuase it was walking distance from my hotel.

UPDATE AGAIN: So it has been over a year since we've tried Susha Hana, and I really wanted some sushi. We were on Haywood Road, so we decided to give it another shot. I have to say this was the best it has ever been. The fish still looks a little dried out, but the rolls we had were much better than before. The crab salad is still present in the majority of the menu. However, we enjoyed a couple rolls, and the nigiri was fine. This time we left perfectly content. The service was fantastic, and I truly enjoyed our experience. I think I'll go back if we are on this side of town. OLD REVIEW: The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because are server was very personable, and although he was very busy, he still managed to give decent service. A co-worker and I decided to come here for lunch because it is close to work. I was hopeful that the sushi had gotten better since my last visit, but my hopes were crushed immediately. I seriously do not understand how people think this is good sushi. If I were you, I would go to Publix and spend half the money on something that is possibly fresher. Everything is drenched in crab salad. Just what I want on my sushi...creamy gooey crabby mess. We had to look hard to order something that did not include the crab salad on the sushi menu, and when we finally did, guess what! It had crab salad! The only conclusion I can come to regarding the overuse of crab salad is to cover up the poor quality of the fish. Everything lacked flavor and had a dried out appearance. I compare it to sushi on a chinese buffet. There are plenty of other sushi places, so I would skip over this one if I were you.

It took them almost an hour to serve us some rolls and nigiri. The rolls were pretty dry and small. You pay probably more at other sushi places, but the rolls a definitely bigger. We also had to pay for an item we haven't ordered. Service was poor.

  • Mr. S.

Went here the first time and it was fine. Second time? All I can say is - what happened to the service? Seating took over 10 mins... Nobody came to help us up front and the restaurant was half empty. As we moved toward a table someone finally seated us. Read the menus, made our choices and waited... And waited... And waited... And waited. Close to 45 minutes later (I can't believe we even waited that long) we stopped a waitress in her tracks, handed her our menus and crossed our fingers for some speedy sushi prep. Another 45 minutes goes by and we are very HUNGRY and impatient. Sushi finally arrives and we eat fast just so we can get the f**k out. What happened to the service?

Are you effing kidding me with the good reviews for this place? This was, quite possibly, the WORST sushi experience of my life! I'm perplexed this place was as crowded as it was (in the same way that I'm perplexed about Ke$ha's popularity... but I digress). It's one vomiting patron away from health department closure. The only explanation is there must not be good sushi in town? The server was terrible-- not greeting us for 15 minutes after we were seated. Then FINALLY seeing us (like we magically appeared at the table) she asked if we were ready (recall she had never come to the table previously). The nigiri was meh. Where this place truly showed it's horror though were the rolls: truly horrid!! Textures were mismatched, crazy inappropriate sauces drowning the rolls as if they were burritos at a cheap Mexican food place. When we told the server her roll recommendation was terrible (think eggs benedict hollandaise sauce left out in the sun for a week topping a pathetic roll) she argued with us and never came back to the table... having another server bring us the bill. WTF?? If you have self-respect you will avoid this place! If a Japanese person actually ate here they would flee the country.

I'm surprised by all the poor reviews. I agree with one negative comment: the service needs improvement. This is a small restaurant but always seems to be understaffed. I went with 3 coworkers for lunch yesterday and we had to wait a long time to get our food, but when it arrived it was amazing. The Tropicana roll was an especially pleasant amalgamation of flavors and textures. I've been to Sushi Hana at least 10 times and I have never experienced a problem with the food.

People seriously need to work on DECREASING the RATING for this restaurant!!! What a horrible experience in all facets of a typical restaurant experience. From the environment/vibe, to service, to most importantly the food I was very disappointed and frankly shocked by this nightmare of an experience. It began with never being greeted by our server!! After being seated for 15-20 mins our less than friendly and poor server (thats being kind) shouted from a distance "Are you ready to order?" I proceeded to Laugh and say "Can we get a hello first". When our food arrived (which was not all together might I add) it looked, smelled, and tasted like complete garbage!!! The texture was nasty as it was smothered in nasty thick sauce that reminded me of Ranch Dressing!! Ugh Nasty!! NOT to mention they ran out of the beer we were drinking. After feeling sick to our stomachs and wanting to wash down the gross taste in our mouth with some beer there appeared (out of nowhere) the check on the table, that was delivered by another server!! Are you Serious?? Well, we wanted to keep drinking, but I guess that was actually a blessing as a way out of this complete nightmare. We proceeded to go down the street to Copper River Grill to drink a beer there. Well I think you understand how I feel about this place. Happy Hunting to all who seek great restaurant experiences like me!!!

We went for early bird special. The soup and ginger salad was rather good and the early bird sushi deal was priced very reasonably. We got in and out in about 45 min and the sushi tasted fresh and flavorful. Will definitely try this place again.

I've eaten at Sushi Hana three times and the service is, without fail, awful, but the food has always been great. . . when it comes to the table. Last time we went, my sushi came out almost 20 minutes before my companion's dish. There were no waitstaff visible in the dining room, so we couldn't even ask where our food was. I would recommend take-out here to avoid putting up with what is obviously a trend at this place.

Stopped in for a late lunch with a BOGO coupon. Service is okay; not great, not bad. Location is a little hard to find, in a strip mall behind Men's Warehouse. My wife ordered the Teriyaki Chicken off the menu, and I ordered the Bento Box special lunch. Both were very good, especially mine. I will return for the Bento Box - a half-dozen samples of various dishes that change from week to week.

For a small sushi joint nestled next door to a cell phone store, sushi hana has a lot of variety. I sat down at the sushi counter just in time for the early bird special (I'm not that old, really!). You could choose several different rolls (not from the full menu) accompanied by miso soup and a salad for a very reasonable price. I opted to order from the regular menu so I could try some exciting new concoctions. One ginger salad and two rolls was way too much for me. One roll was filled with seaweed salad and topped with red and white tuna. The other roll was free of rice but was filled with salmon and flash fried. I don't remember all the ingredients or the names, but they were both YUMMY! I will definitely go back next time Im in Greenville. The sushi chefs were super friendly and conversed with me through my whole meal, which can be nice when traveling alone. PS. Its worth nothing that happy hour includes $2 domestic beers!!!

Hadn't been to Sushi Hana in a long while I used a Living Social coupon. Came in with a friend around 9:30 PM on a Thursday. Only 3 other people there, but it took FOREVER for our order to be taken. Then when it was taken (we ordered the $42 boat) I didn't see a sushi chef get started on it for ANOTHER 10 mins. One of the waitresses had zero social skills. No smile or anything. Another waitress, however, was better So the service was very VERY slow, but the food, when it finally arrived a half hour later, was outstanding. So really should be a 2.5 stars. Willing to give you guys another shot in a couple months or so. Just need to work on your service and timeliness!

Never been let down - no it's not the best in town, but I rarely feel like paying those kind of prices anyway. My husband and I keep coming back and are never let down by the food - well, if we ever are it's only b/c of our own tastebuds and not the quality. The sushi rolls are so creative and tasty! Don't be a sushi snob - give this place a try. It's always busy for a reason.

Went back during holiday season, near mall, wanted sushi, wife said give it another chance, etc. Just say "NO!" and drive straight to Sushi Koji. This place, Sushi Hana, is still terrible. Fish not very fresh, mishandled, low tier quality, etc. Come to think of it, they are a better fit inside the mall across from them in the food court.

When we got here, the waitress took our drink orders and didn't give us menus, without explanation. Turns out that on Saturdays at lunch, it's buffet only (had to ask ANOTHER waitress to figure this out). For someone who isn't Japanese, It was hard to figure out what each dish was because they were not labeled. The sushi was particularly difficult to determine. There was miso soup, chicken noodles, fried rice, chicken wings, and maybe 4 or 5 different kinds of sushi. Along with maybe 3 types of sashimi. There was also salad and a few different mini desserts. Nothing spectacular. Most of the non-sushi entrees were luke-warm to straight up cold, which is strange considering they were on chafing dishes. It was so-so. We didn't realize until the end of our meal that it was $10 a person for this sub-par lunch buffet! Wish we would've been warned up front.. we probably would've gone elsewhere.

The repeated terrible service cannot overcome the good sushi. Ok, I travel a lot and love sushi. I have been to Hana more than 8 times - what I would consider a fair shake. The sushi is good, but I have sat there for 15 minutes with no one even acknowledging me...at the sushi bar! Time and time again - terrible service. I give up. I am going to try Koji downtown or Mimi's (I think it's called - someone told me it was good). Sorry Hana...I tried.

I cannot believe how much food I just ate! With my dinner entree, there was soup, an iceberg salad, my chicken with a ton of stir fried veggies, a mixed salad, a half of a tomato sliced, and a half of an orange! Wow! Oh yea, and rice! It was all yummy! I ordered my dinner for take out, but the place was very cute inside.

I've been here a few times and I feel it is time to finally leave a review for this place. When I first came to this sushi joint the service, food, hospitality was great. Just recently my family and I decided we wanted some sushi on a Sunday evening. First off it was a "little" busy for a Sunday, but that doesn't mean that it should affect anything. The service was the WORST I have ever experienced in a long time. To be honest with you I'm not too sure why I even paid my bill. We were seated fairly quickly which is the only time I will be using the word quickly. Order was placed and it took 40 minutes for us to received our food. Within that time period waitresses walked by just looked at us as if we didn't exist. The hot tea we ordered was iced tea by the time our food came out. The garbage plate that they call sushi was horrible. I don't know how a place can go from first class to coach in just a short time. I will NEVER come or even recommend this place to anyone (even people I don't like). They need to change the name from Sushi Hana to Dookie Hana because this place has gone to S**t.
