Went with my mom last night. We both really enjoyed our food and service. The place was very clean and many vegan choices to choose from. My mom had the salmon and love it! RECOMMENDED :)

We were so disappointed with our experience here, especially after reading many good reviews. For starters, the service was slow, considering how empty the place was. More importantly, the food was average at best. We Ordered the vegetarian thali and the Thali with meat, hoping to sample several different dishes. Both came served in stainless compartmentalized trays, including the naan and rice pudding dessert. It was as unappetizing as airline food to look at. Each dish had exactly the same base with chick peas substituted for the two meager pieces of lamb in the non vegetarian sampler. We ordered the food spicy and it was quite bland. I wondered if we would have done better to order a couple of mains instead, but I think we'll go back to Saffron next time as we've always been pleased there.

This Indian restaurant is wonderful in more ways than one!! Service was top notch during dinner, then food was amazing!! So although I'm not giving it 5 stars it's only because I think the portions should be slightly larger for the diner portions.. Otherwise., flavor, freshened, selection and quality are all top notch!! Love this place!! Next time we are going to try their lunch Buffett!! So far an other place had been our favorite Indian .. But I think this is our new favorite Indian go to place!! Hard to find but worth it!!

Stopped in around 1pm for the lunch buffet. Not much of a crowd. Very nice interior, although they should invest in their own music rather than playing a local radio station. Pretty small buffet, with less than a dozen choices, but everything was delicious. The chicken tikka masala was a little light on chicken. Fresh naan delivered to the table, with three different options. Service was very prompt, and our glasses never went empty. 2 lunch buffets and 2 soft drinks was just over $21. I am not optimistic about this restaurant making it. They are conveniently located just off Woodruff, and have great food, atmosphere, service, and ample, convenient parking, but they are just far enough off the beaten path to be missed. I hope I'm wrong.

Possibly the best Indian Restaurant in Greenville. I haven't tried the buffet but the À la carte was good. I tried couple of North Indian dishes which were good.

I loved the food here. We came for a quick dinner on a Tuesday night. We got great service and they brought us a little extra appetizer on the house for not having a first choice item available within our time constraints (and it was nice that they let us know that.) We ordered the vegetarian thali and goat tikka. I have never had coconut soup before, and it was amazing here. We liked the mulligatawny soup better than Saffron's. My only complaint was the garlic naan was not garlicky enough! Such a nice atmosphere! I really hope they are around for a long time!

Ate the lunch buffet today. Food is pretty good, has both north indian nd couple of southern dishes as well .both veggie and many meats., good variety nd the curries dint taste the same , i am from north and food tastes is like authentic food back home . looks upscale with plenty of seating nd ambien and decor is nice , staff seems friendly and made sure water is always there nd food is warm. I Took one star away as the bring the naan fresh to the table (which is awesome) but took few mins . But they do give u three choices of naan ( cheese, garlic, plain) . Overalk good place for lunch buffet and dinner and is right off woodruff rd whr i wrk which is convinient for a quick meal ! Would definately go back there and recommend it to others.

First time trying Indian food in Greenville but this place was fantastic with delicious vegetarian fare. Everyone at my table was happy with their food and I will definitely recommend this place to others.

Great Restaurant. Probably the best Indian food in Greenville. Great service as well. Will definitely be back.

Great food. Especially the bread and their sweet tea has special spices that is amazing. Beautiful building inside. Child friendly staff. Great prices. Don't miss it just off Woodruff Rd.

This was a lovely surprise! We were going out for a casual weeknight dinner -- but actually had a special dining experience. Loved the atmosphere! Loved the owners (who helped us choose the perfect food, cocktails and beer!). We left happy and (obviously) will return.

I've been to almost all the Indian restaurants in Greenville and this is the best food. The taste is great, the Naan is awesome, the veggie pakora is the best I've ever had too. The problem is the service, very odd. They brought us the wrong order, I knew it didn't look right but the server insisted it was my food. They ended up coming back saying it was incorrect, then why did he say it was right? They need to work the kinks out of service. Table cloth was dirty and crumbs on it as well from the last customers. Once they iron out the service side it will be the only Indian place we go to, until then it's take out.

Seemed to be very authentic Indian food. I was introduced to many, many new dishes. Very unique experience...glad I went.

My wife and I have traveled a lot and we have eaten Indian food in most places we travel. Spice of India has it all. Great tasting food, ambiance, staff, and prices. We will go back here ONLY when we crave Indian food. My recommendation is lose the metal compartmentalized trays and more of a difference between the vegetarian and meat thali.

Ambiance is pretty good, so is the service. But if its a restaurant we go there for food. Now just to be clear, I'm a South Indian married to a North Indian so I know what I'm talking. North Indian food here is super creamy and colorful, they just forget to make it Indian as it has no spices what so ever (different issue if you are a Non-Indian you wouldn't know the difference). Coming to South Indian food, it's terrible. I've been to this place 2 times just to be sure I try everything before I write this review. This will be hit only amongst the non-Indians as they prefer creamy food, without the Masala (Spice) it ain't Indian. People who have rated them well are the ones used to Handi, so I don't blame them.

I really enjoy this joint. We have been going for lunch since it's recent opening. I have not been for dinner yet. The food was very good and I have on very good authority, is authentic, Southern Indian. That means a little more spice and a little less cream than Northern. They do serve Northern as well. In general, they are spicy. I love it! Others may not. The atmosphere is interesting and comfortable. It does not exactly say Indian to me but no big deal. They located in a mid-upscale restaurants location after that restaurant recently closed. I would call the ambiance modern and the food old world. The price is right. The staff is friendly and attentive I hear that the owner's original restaurant is in Charlotte, NC and that it is awesome. He decided to add another location in Greenville. In my opinion, this establishments food and atmosphere are better than that of Saffron which is just down Woodruff Rd a few hundred yards. Saffron is a more Americanized, Northern Indian and I don't care for the ambiance.

Best Indian food I've had in Greenville. Very helpful staff to aid you in navigating the extensive menu

Delightfully tasty buffet! Best and least expensive Indian buffet in Greenville. Generally speaking, Spice of India offers intensely flavorful food (though not necessarily spicy in the sense of hot). Upon arrival your server will offer hot and soft naan, delivered to your table at no extra charge. I recommend you try the cheese naan. The Chicken Tikka Masala is outstanding -- probably the best I've had anywhere. The Shahi Paneer is scrumptious. I've enjoyed a couple of their tasty curries. Their Korma is good. Handi's is better. I also prefer Handi's service. Saffron's service is outstanding as well. Spice of India has, in repeated visits, shown itself in need of improvement when it comes to service. For me, the food makes up for it. Others will not tolerate such inattentive service -- especially with other excellent Indian restaurants to choose from in Greenville. Spice also offers a special lunch take-out menu (similar to Saffron's, my former local favorite). I tried the Chicken Curry. It was as delicious as I anticipated. What I did not anticipate was the portion. It was miniscule. My best guess is that the curry container held 8 oz. For affordable lunch take-out Saffron is still the only game in town. It's worthy of note that Spice of India partners with 864togo.com which means you can get their food delivered to your door anywhere in Greenville country. For a super value get their lunch buffet. They now even offer a very reasonably priced evening buffet on Mondays! If you like Indian food or just want to try it for the first time Spice of India is highly recommended.

I'm from out of town and come into Greenville for business weekly. This is one of the best Indian buffets around. Great atmosphere, great food, fresh naan...everything you ever want in a Indian place

My husband and I came for the lunch buffet. No one was up front to greet us upon arrival. Food was authentic and spicy. Food was hot, fresh, and our waiter brought out fresh Naan bread. The buffet was lacking in the way of authentic desserts. They did have fresh fruit, but grapes have seeds . You either have to cut them up or spit out seeds. NOT GOOD. And all fruit was separated, but in same container. Presentation was very unappealing. Waiter was attentive, cleared dishes promptly. Tucked away off of the main drag of Woodruff Rd., not so bad. Restaurant itself seemed very open, comfortable, and well laid out. It's ok.

A great restaurant with a warm service and an awesome taste in Indian Cuisine! I am so glad that Spice of India is here in Greenville, SC as all my friends and colleagues would readily agree. I would personally appreciate a lot if the buffet is well balanced equally with North and South Indian recipes than having more of North Indian and very less of South Indian. Hopefully, Spice of India people will make a note of this and implement it soon. On the whole, Spice of India is by far the very best Indian restaurant in town! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Way way above average buffet that I would put up against any of the GVL area standard full menu Indian restaurants with regards to taste and quality. The only down side is that the options were a little limiting, but that is digging deep. Over all I am very pleased and will come back. I would recommend this restaurant to friends and family.

My co-worker and I went for lunch to try to the buffet and give this place another chance. Walking into the restaurant we noticed that the glass doors were filthy and had not been cleaned in sometime (not an image you want to portray for a restaurant). We were seated promptly and quickly went to buffet. Everything looked nice, but we were sorely disappointed. The food was heavy on cream and no spiciness. The worst part was during the meal, a pressure washer or some other internal combustion driven device was being used INSIDE THE KITCHEN during lunch. We could smell and hear the machine while we ate. During this time, various employees from the back came up to the buffet and helped themselves (with dirty aprons and all). My co-worker and I will not be going back to this establishment.

My wife and I fell in love with Indian food while living in Los Angeles before moving to South Carolina. She's a vegetarian and Indian cuisine gives her so many options compared to a typical American cuisine menu. We were disappointed with the lack of options in Greenville until we found Spice of India last night by accident. The atmosphere, food and service was fantastic. Very excited about finding this place!

My brother-in-law (who is a huge foodie and great cook himself) found this place and our lives have never been the same! We generally go for the lunch buffet, you get to try new things, it's awesome! Always come hungry and ask your server for suggestions; I have never had anything bad and I'm a picky person when it comes to spending money out on food. I would recommend the dosa, there are a bunch of different kinds along with a yummy bread selection that works great to soak up your sauce. If you have never had Indian food this place is great. Spicy if you like it or mild for those like me. And if you can't decide at dinner get the thali plate, you get an assortment of different dishes. The service is almost as good as the food so go to spice of Indian Greenville and enjoy an extraordinary meal:)

Second visit is not going that good. bhel is kind of bland and all the orders are taking quite long even if half the place is empty! But the main course came out excellent! We had Panir Bhurji, Eggplant Bhartha and two types of Naan. All of them were tasty.

Expensive and tasteless food as compared to other restaurants in greenville. You might like this more than handi but thats it. Service is terribly slow. Expectations rise when you enter. Its got the class and all but food is hopeless. They offer certain south indian food which i m sure is frozen food. North indian food is fresher but creamier. Very bland and the base is same for any curry you order. I dont understand why there are so many 5 stars. Its funny.

Came to the lunch buffet with a BOGO coupon. Not up to expectations whatsoever. Happy to have the free lunch coupon to offset my disappointment.

Not too impressive from the outside but the staff is great and the food was excellent. I had the lentil soup, garlic nan and chicken tiki masala and all were the best I have had anywhere. Price was also reasonable.

If you've been around Greenville for a few years, you're probably familiar with the building this restaurant is in. It's the site of several failed restaurants on Market Point, behind Whole Foods. I think I ate at two of the restaurants housed there over the years and I enjoyed both. This, however was the first time that I noticed that someone, at some point, spent an obscene amount of money to make this place look like the location of a Scarface shootout. Why did I notice that this time? It probably had to do with the insanely bright lights that these guys have on full blast in the dining room. We were in a booth and it felt like there was a spotlight right on us. The rest of the place was so lit up that I half expected Michelle Pfeiffer to saunter down the stairs while Tony Montana was getting shot and falling off the balcony onto the dining room floor. But all of that is meaningless if the food is awesome, right? I agree. And the food isn't awful, but it isn't anywhere close to other Indian restaraunts in the area either. We were greeted with popadoms with chutney. The chutney had an odd, bitter flavor and a flat finish on the palate that I found unpleasant. My companion also found it odd, but did appreciate the note of orange flavor in it. I'm not sure what they were going for, but if they wanted to rescue it, the flavor palate needed some acid to brighten the finish and some salt. Dinner arrived with very nice presentation. Everything was served beautifully and looked great. Unfortunately, the aloo gobi had a burned flavor and had a similar bitter and flat finish to the chutney. Not the worst thing I've ever been served, but nothing I'd ever ask to have seconds of either. The chicken tikka masala was quite good and was the best of the dishes we ordered. The saag paneer was not bad, but needed salt. The naan was doughy and undercooked. The rice was very well cooked and seasoned. It's almost as though they had a dedicated rice cook and then had some other guy do all the rest. Is this place fixable? Definitely. The staff seem to be caring and thoughtful and they can make this work if they keep at it. A little more liberal use of the salt shaker and some tasting of the food by the chef and things can be rescued. Will I be back? Most likely, no. I'm headed right up the road where I know they have things mostly figured out already.

This upscale Indian restaurant impresses with its regal ambiance and first rate service. The modern elegant dining room adds a touch of class to the precedings. I recommend the lunch buffet offering authentic Indian cuisine such as chicken tandoori, malai kofta, allo matar tamatar and fresh baked naan among many other selections. Be sure to try the spiced ice tea. The tantalizing flavors create a superior dining experience and make Spice of India a step above the rest.

Food is okay but the service could really use improvements. We visited the restaurant twice thinking it might have improved over time but we were let down both times.

A first time trying Indian food. Loved it, was able to taste a little bit of north and south. Restaurant is beautiful and its a great place for dinner with a date. Food was fresh and aromatic. Got a wonderful mango mixed drink with fresh mint. prices are very reasonable as well.

Very, very flavorful food, beautiful modern decor and excellent service. A bit off Woodruff Rd so seek and find for the best Indian food in Greenville. Sauces were super smooth and spiced as I liked it. Vegan to multiple protein (animal and not) options, I hope they stick around for a very long time!

Fabulous Indian cuisine in a great modern atmosphere! We have been here a handful of times now for the Sat/Sun lunch buffet. They offer a variety tasty dishes on the buffet and it always includes my fav -- chicken tikka masala! Service is 5 star as well. They bring us the naan of our choice (try the cheese) and onion chutney! We love Spice of India! The only drawback is that it's located off of Woodruff Road.

Beautiful & clean restaurant. Loved the decor! We are visiting from TN and loved the food. I am of Indian origin and have tried many Indian restaurants. This was definitely one of the best meals I've had. Good luck to this new Indian Eatary. Wish Knoxville had something like this. Will visit this restaurant again if we come back. Staff is very friendly too. Thanks for a great meal!!!

Went for the lunch buffet. The postives were the food was spicy, the way Indian food should be, and the chicken korma was very good. However, in that and the tikka masala it was very hard to find the chicken; it was mostly sauce. The Tandoori chicken was not cooked the way I am used to, having some kind of coating that was very salty. I was disappointed that there were no samosas on the buffet, nor many vegetable options. My favorite Indiian dish is lamb with spinach, or anything spinach with Indian spices. There was none. Perhaps the food is better if one orders off of the menu instead of the buffet.

Another wonderful meal yesterday wonderful owners, service excellent, atmosphere magnificent best curries in town thank you Spice.........I have just read a review that states the food is tasteless all I can say to that is he must have eaten at another restaurant because that just is not true......

This was our second time here. We had completely different dishes both times. I had Chicken Chili and it was very tasty. My wife have Saag Panir and liked it really well. She had curry the first time we went and liked it even better. Our daughter had a sampler plate but I do not remember its' name. She is well travelled and said that this was some of the best Indian food that she has had. The restaurand has a very nice ambience to it and the service absolutely could not have been better on either of our visits there.
