The service was great. I love the chicken parm. Our waiter was polite, courtesy and Johnny on the spot!

Iama Critic Rating - Olive Garden - 3 Stars 3290 North Pleasantburg Drive, Greenville, SC Overall: Everybody has been to Olive Garden and we all have our own personal opinions, but what isn't an opinion is that Olive Garden's prices have gone up.... way up. Their classic Tour of Italy entree is now $16.99!! That is a staggering $4.50 increase for a PASTA dish. And the portion they serve today is actually significantly smaller than it was. We all know that the cost of dining out has gone up, but a 36% increase is a little much to swallow. However money isn't always an issue so let's get to the review shall we. This Olive Garden like most was very clean and orderly and even though it was prime time on a Friday night we walked right in and were seated immediately. The Service - 5 Stars (19%) I dislike being served by male waiters. Not because I am sexist. Rather because men generally do not have the same social graces as women. In general they just want to "get 'er done" rather than be an integral part of the social experience of dining out. But my waiter at Olive Garden broke the mold! Yea, he got the job done alright, but he was also attentive, sociable and downright witty! And for this superb effort we gave him a 19% tip. We typically provide 20% or more for 5 star service on the pre-tax portion of the bill, 18% for 4, 15% for 3, 12% for 2 and 0% for 1 star service. The Food: Breadstick - 3 Stars The last time I went to Olive Garden I was served some bread-sticks with green mold, which made for an interesting night. But the bread-sticks were up to snuff this visit. Salad - 3 Stars My guest loves roma tomatoes, however Olive Garden is very frugal and probable makes four family size salads from one roma tomato. So my guest orders bowls of condiments so she can make vastly improved salads. Soups - 3 Stars Although they still look nowhere near as nice as the menu pictures the soups I experienced were vastly improved from my last Olive Garden visit. The Zuppa Toscana had a good amount of spicy sausage and spinach in it, and the Chicken & Gnocchi was wonderfully creamy with tender chicken. But why show me magnificent photos of these soups in the menu and then deliver these forgeries. All that does is give customers an expectation that the restaurant will never actually meet. Either serve what you show in your menu photos or use realistic photos in the menu. $4.50 Chicken Meatballs - 2 stars This appetizers is an extremely poor value. It was a mere two meatballs and in total it weighed in at less than a few ounces, this appetizer cost around a ridiculous $2.00 an ounce. Making it perhaps the most expensive appetizer per ounce that I ever bought. If you can stomach the price the meatballs themselves were decent and the sauce was good. $13.99 Garlic Rosemary Chicken - 4 Stars My guest ordered this entree expecting to receive all the grilled garlic cloves shown in the menu photos. Sadly her entree came with only two. But what her entree lacked in garlic was made up for with a surprisingly huge stick of aromatic rosemary. She was very pleased with the broccoli and the mashed potatoes. The chicken was wonderfully cooked and a reasonable portion. However she was not pleased with the price despite the fact that I paid the bill. $16.99 Pappardelle Pescatore - 3 Stars This seafood dish comes with shrimp, bay scallops, clams and asparagus served in a red peppers seafood sauce with pappardelle pasta. The presentation is quite nice and pretty, and the flavor is top notch as well. But at seventeen dollars this entree is significantly pricey and the portion small. The portion is no larger than the bowls of free soup you receive and the actual seafood is but a few ounces, just enough to make it look good but not enough to impress. Total Bill: $52.00 for two people including tax, tip and two soda fountain drinks. Final Thoughts: Here is a tasty way to beat Olive Garden's prices. Go for their all you can eat lunch soups and salad. And try all of their awesome soups, salad, and bread-sticks for a measly $6.99, now that is worth going to Olive Garden for!

The food is decent but when trying to make a reservation for my birthday, they told me that they do not take reservations for the weekend. Attempting to force me to change my plans to be a week night is unwise. I immediately called another spot and will go there from now on for my Italian food cravings.

Worst experience ever. My friend Saby and I went to eat at this Olive Garden and we were sat in a waitresses section who had two other tables besides ours. Saby and I both are chronically ill, have PICC lines and do infusions daily. We were doing our infusions discreetly when the waitress came to our table. She was very hesitant and weird... The waitress then just REFUSED to wait on us due the our infusions! The manager pulled a server off her break (Lisa) who had several other tables in a complete different section. It was obvious WHY the first waitress refused to wait on us. At first the manager said our first waitress was just overwhelmed. (She only had two tables!!!) then the manager admitted it in a round about way. Lisa, our final server was, was amazing, especially after the excessively RUDE server. Not only do Saby and I have to deal with living life as chronically ill, but we are discriminated against and REFUSED to be serviced!! I can't express how angry this makes me... Needless to say Lisa got a GIANT tip, and corporate will be hearing about this.

Visiting from out of town. Good service. FAST! for a Sunday afternoon we were in and out in under an hour. They must've stepped up their service based off these reviews below. We had 4-5 servers assisting our table. Everyone was pitching in. food was good. Restaurant clean and bright! Recommended!

Update: Olive Garden had offered to take care of us for our next visit. However, nothing was said about what they plan to with smaller tables next to bigger tables. Other restaurants will but in another server or get another server to cover the area. Apparently, that's not going to happen.

Called in a To Go order for one at 4:15, and They put me on hold longer than two minutes. This is the slowest time of day for a restaurant, so to be put on hold for any amount of time is bewildering. I hung up to call back at 4:21. They were able to take the order immediately on this second try. I was told it would be ready at 4:45. I arrived at 4:47, and it wasn't ready. By 5:03 the order for ONE person came out of the kitchen. So a 25 minute ticket time became a 45 minute ticket time!!!!! I looked at the four top that was being sat and felt pity for them because who knows how long they will wait for their four plates of food to arrive to the table. Either the kitchen was short staffed or the person expediting really didn't have a sense of urgency when it came to getting the food out of the kitchen. Either way I call it POOR management! Will not be getting a to go order from here ever again!

Service was horrible! I won't go back. It's bad enough that this place calls itself Italian, but I actually like the salad. I was so looking forward to the bottomless Salad and Bread sticks. But our server never came back. We asked 4 other servers for more salad and bread sticks. They finally came after we were completely finished with the meal and ready to go. Bottomless Salad and breadsticks my *^&*(%).

This was an interesting greeting we received at Olive Garden. We went at the lunch hour. so we got in there and they had us wait with a little blinking disc for about 7 minutes. There were empty tables EVERYWHERE! then the guy taking us to our table walked at a snails pace (cracking us up!) then he chooses us a table that's half table half booth and we asked "Just a booth" and he turns around and starts talking into his lapel walkie-talkie (like he was some secret service agent making a major switch of the president!) saying" OK...there is a switch of tables. Did you hear? We are switching locations." It was CRAZY! So all in all the food was great as usual... Service was very attentive to our needs, Bathroom was clean. "Mr. President....the EAGLE has landed. "

The place was packed but since there were only two of us, we were quickly seated. Olive Garden food is consistently good and tonight was no exception. Our server was quite personable! My only disappointment was that the first two menu beers I ordered they were out of. In the past, at other restaurants when this occurred, at the third attempt, the beverage was comped. Not so tonight.

the food is good, the soda is sometimes flat. service is sort of a hit or miss. last time i went, it was fantastic... the other times, not so fantastic... just average. i love their soup and salad, though by eyes are bigger than my stomach... because i always end up ordering a pasta dish and regretting not finishing it.

My Olive Garden of choice. The food is always good, not remarkable, but consistent. Service is above average, but the take-out is exceptional. The one time I had an above-average wait time, the manager immediately apologized and made it worth the wait.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
