Over all I give five stars The proportions are on the small side but comparable to the same class of restaurants in downtown. Now if you want a bang for your buck go to Green Lettuce on west end. The servicer was friendly knowledgeable and friendly. The decor was classic and chic We dined on a Tuesday evening so it was not busy. I'm not an alcohol consumer so I'm not knowledgeable on the wine selections. My husband ordered salmon served over cheese grits with grilled asparagus. The meal was seasoned and prepared tastfully. I had the filet served with potato croquette and grilled zucchini and squash . The meat was great quality, cooked as requested and seasoned well. We had the cheese plate for appetizer which included 4 cheese wedges, nuts, berries, guava paste and honey. I had the berry cobbler served with butterscotch ice cream for dessert and was not impressed. The ice cream was good but for my liking there was not enough crust/crumble and the pie filling was very tart. The meal including tip was $117.00.

I attended a sparkling wine tasting with some girlfriends and it was so much fun. And I learned that I don't know much about sparkling wines except that I like them and I am always going to be game to participate in a tasting at Northampton Wine Cafe. Before the tasting began, we ordered glasses of wine and some small plates -bread and an olive bowl. Both were tasty and appropriate portion size. Oh, and speaking of portion size, the tasting wines were accompanied by small pieces of delicious cheese that we all awkwardly carved down on until there was just a crumb of politeness left. All in all, a fantastic experience.

Good selection of wines with friendly staff sometimes willing to help. That aside, this place should NOT be serving food. The service was nonexistent and the food was so bad it was laughable. The first hurdle is actually getting a staff member to do something and the second is navigating the menu. Don't be fooled by the descriptions the food is all worse than frozen food at the grocery store. My recommendation is to buy the wine and get out of there.

Consistently excellent! Great wine selection, great service & great food. The hot chili seafood is our go to starter. Menu changes seasonally and we have never been disappointed. Looking for that special wine you enjoyed on your recent trip to Italy or wine country. Ask for Cory the bartender at the winebar, his knowledge and service are exceptional.

I enjoy the Friday night wine tastings. Although they can be a bit too formal at times and run over the scheduled time, I always seem to learn something new. The wine is always good and and an overall good value. I wouldn't recommend these events as a date night as the center of attention is always the presenter and they are typically all business - there is not if any time to socialize. These tastings are more geared to the semi-serious to serious wine enthusiast.

You get what you pay for here. Yes its pricy, but man, you know why as soon as you get your food. Fresh-tasting, unique dishes prepared to the level of art. This place is unsurpassed in Greenville (which has been woefully short on really fine cuisine). The mixed grill, the gazpacho soup, and the Live Wire wine is a can't-miss.

"That was the best salmon I've ever had. And I've had some slammin salmon in all my years. I'm going to order this again next time. Wow." -My boyfriend after eating the phenomenal Salmon Wellington. I, being more fond of a bird, ordered and devoured the Quail - also served with thick and crisp asparagus. Yum and was absolutely splendid. Not only was the food warm and delicious, but it left me with a super satisfying feeling without feeling greasy or too stuffed. My meal was also accompanied with epic garlic mashed potatoes. Went perfectly all together and really made my palate sing. Desserts left us feeling hugged in the belly. The sweet chocolate mousse was fresh and fruity with a rich chocolatey aftertaste. Perfect portion size for one...with a sweet tooth. Service was top notch and friendly. She definitely brought the southern hospitality, unlike the hostess. But still a wonderful experience.

As much business is conducted at Northampton Cafe as at any golf course in the area. Scene is quiet and professional--be prepared to "bring your own fun". Great wine selection (of course) and an eclectic small plate menu (hot chili seafood is so great). NH as it is affectionately called, is a perfect meetup for friends or colleagues.

An overlooked and under known dining treasure. When in Greenville, take the time to get off Main Street and treat yourself!

This rating is specifically for a Friday night tasting featuring Down Under wines from Oz, NZ and S. Africa We tasted 3 whites a Rose and 3 reds. Some interesting selections including a S. African pinotage with coffee overtones from a large blending component called mocha. Here's what I recommend to improve. Put another ounce into the sub 2 oz pours, provide water, and a little bit more to eat. Good representative wines from the area but make the tasting a better value and you'll get more post tasting sales

Great wine selection with good beer. The cheese plate was great and it was the best Gouda that I have ever had. The meat plate was great and it was the best hamburger that I have had but pricey. Very good and would go back.

This place is superb. Great selection of wine & cheese's. The menu is always changing and is delightful. I ordered App: black bean soap Main: homemade ravioli stuffed with spinach & wild mushroom.

Lunch is served in the bar area on Saturdays. The menu is limited but has a nice variety from which to choose. My friend and I both had the spinach salad, which was very simply dressed with marinated red onions, bacon and mushrooms with a vinaigrette dressing. It was very good for a light lunch, though the price was a bit steep for the quantity served. The atmosphere there is very nice, and it's a great place to enjoy quiet conversation with a glass of vino.

Update- Went last night to an Italian wine tasting. It was just amazing. In addition to tasting 8 wonderful Italian wines, (sparkling, white, and red.) The gentleman who conducted the tasting Richard deBondt, was incredibly knowledgeable. I learned quite a bit about the Italian standards for wine, the terrior, growing reigons and different grape varietals. If you have an opportunity to go to one of the wine tastings here I highly recommend you do so. You will not be dissapointed.

I cannot afford to eat here, but I have done so anyway twice. The food is just that good that you will sacrifice something just to come back. This wine cafe has the best food I ever ate in Greenville. The chef is an "Iron Chef" level master of the kitchen. Presentation is always simple yet elegant. Foods are prepared delicately and cooked perfectly. Rare herbs and seasonings are used in just the right portions. I recommend a hearty full bodied red to go with the meal. We chose Live Wire (a Napa Valley Wine).

Northampton is a five star wine shop, but I cannot say the same for the cuisine. I was not very impressed last night with what appeared to be shredded 'processed cheese food' piled high atop my Winter Greens salad. The dark chocolate ganache cake slice I chose for dessert was beautifully presented with a gorgeous strawberry and pretty swirls of whipped cream, yet when I dug my fork in for a bite the interior looked more like the cross section of an ant farm. Not only was this cake dry as a bone but it was filled with little channels of air which, from my Home Ec days in middle school, I believe are the result of over mixing or using improper amounts of certain ingredients. As I mentioned before, I still hold Northampton Wines in the highest of regards for what they really are: an outstanding place to browse, learn about, taste, and enjoy an endless supply of wines from around the world. Just stick to the complimentary bread basket if you get the munchies.

SUPERB small grower and boutique selection. Wholesale prices, cheap corkage fee, good cheese, where can you go wrong?
