Very poor experience recently at Nantucket We went on a Saturday night, 09/05/2015 and was truly disappointed in the service. The server brought out only 1/2 the appetizers; and then 30 minutes later brought out ALL of the appetizers. One of the members of the party was truly shocked at the service. We ordered two different bottles of wine; the first bottle was delivered promptly to the table, the second bottle took an additional 20 minutes or so to locate. I am not sure what has occurred at Nantucket Seafood Grill, because I have been there numerous times, and this, by far, was not a pleasant experience. I had out of town guests, and thought that it would be nice to take them to one of my favorite places to eat in Greenville, SC. I will not be making that mistake again.

Expensive. But so worth it. This is our go-to special occasion restaurant. Pros: Excellent seafood! I always order the scallops and they are always wonderful. Never gritty. The lobster bisque is perfect. The Peanut Butter cake is to die for! Seriously. Eat it. You never wait for assistance, you are surrounded by waitstaff in some form or fashion. Extensive wine list. We've never had a disappointing meal. We've also gone for brunch and thoroughly enjoyed that as well. Cons: Seriously dark in the dining room. Hard to read the menu in the dim lighting. We visited the bar one evening and they have no working blender so you can't get anything frozen/blended. THAT was a MAJOR disappointment for me personally.

Oh, I so wanted to be impressed with this place. I had dinner here while in town for a business meeting. There were 12 of us here together. But, alas, not so much... The location is great, right in the middle of the very exciting downtown area, adjacent to a beautiful hotel. The appearance of the restaurant is very high class and relaxed at the same time. Dark wood walls and accent areas give an impressive ambiance. The hallway to the dining room where we ate was lined with wine storage display which was an outstanding visual. Our service was for the most part good, there were several different people attending to us but execution was a bit out of sync at times, for instance lobster served then several minutes later a server comes back to bring clarified butter... My entrée was the Nantucket Surf & Turf. It features a 6 oz filet and a cold water lobster tail. My take on any restaurant is that the food needs to be the star of the dining experience. While presented beautifully, the execution was simply not up to par. The lobster tail was very overcooked chewy and gummy like any overcooked shellfish. The steak was very undercooked, I ordered Med Rare/Medium (somewhere between medium and med rare) it came to me VERY VERY rare. As for the food, the best thing on my plate was the mashed potatoes. Had I not been part of a large group and not wanting to interfere with anyone else's experience I would have sent my entrée back. The key lime pie for dessert was outstanding!!! I would actually rate 2.5 start but will round up because of the experience overall being good.

Let me preface my remarks by noting that it was Parent's Weekend at Furman University, no doubt resulting in an exceptionally large demand for dining options. Our reservation was for a party of four at 8:15. Upon checking in we were told that "things were running a little late" with no estimate of how long the delay would be. They were utilizing three girls at the desk and it appeared that there was very little communication or coordination among them. We opted to stay close in an effort to be seated in a timely fashion. We were told at 8:30 that they were preparing our table. We were seated at 8:50. When asked if they had a gluten-free menu, the waiter said they did not and that "it's pretty self-explanatory" which dishes might contain gluten. It was apparent that he did not have a clear understanding of the requirements of gluten sensitive customers and really didn't care. This attitude essentially limited my wife's choices to basic meat, potatoes, and plain vegetables. Even so, she had a mild gluten reaction. I feel sure this waiter doesn't understand the importance of notifying the chef of gluten intolerance. This is an expensive restaurant with an elegant atmosphere and to have the waiter stand in one place with us sort of shouting the orders too him across the table was a little strange to say the least. We started with a dozen blue point oysters, which were as tasty as any I have ever had. Unfortunately, they were delivered without oyster forks. A server eventually wandered into the dining room carrying four oyster forks. He looked around, didn't make it as far as our table and disappeared. I finally had to get up and go to the serving station to get them sent to the table! One final observation on the service: if you're going to have servers deliver the food to the tables, make certain they know where they are going. Someone tried to serve us sea bass, which no one had ordered. When they did bring our meals, they had no idea what went where. Now to the good news. The preparation of all the food was superb. The filet was a perfect "rare". Blackened swordfish was very good and served with an outstanding garnish. Sea scallops were delightful. Everything on the seafood platter was wonderful--my only comment is that with everything fried, the overall presentation is too "brown". The creme brûlée and peanut butter and chocolate cake were both delicious, but no one asked if we wanted coffee. I hope it was due to the busy weekend that the front end staff so glaringly underperformed. It sorely detracted from the superior production from the kitchen.

Superb food from the apps to the FANTASTIC steaks to a solid wine selection for sure.... Great atmosphere and friendly staff in a quant location to boot.... Good bar that makes SUPERB martinis too

Went to the buffet today, food was great but service was poor. Waited twenty minutes before I finally asked the hostess if any wait staff was working in our area. Will go back for the food again and give it one more chance.

Went in 11/30/13, ordered Oysters Rockefeller, received a plate of breadcrumbs and "oysters" the size of pencil erasers that even the manager couldn't find when I complained! It was ridiculous and that was the second order! I don't know what's going on with the chef but clearly they don't care about quality. The price for a plate of breadcrumbs at Nantuckets? 15.00! Our poor waitress tried so hard to help and minimize the embarrassment and we called over the manager and he had no explanation as to the oyster mystery. He offered his card for my next visit (which there won't be one) and left. This use to be a good place to eat but...............

I have eaten at Rick Erwin's West End Grill multiple times, and just at here for the first time this week. Overall, I'd say this restaurant is typical of its breed. I expect certain things when I dine in this price range, and this place has them, but in my opinion it doesn't innovate and the food is acceptable but unexceptional. The service was excellent, and probably the standout of the experience. Our waitress was knowledgeable and professional, and also showed enough personality to enhance the service but kept her distance and let our party of 4 talk. They keep the silverware coming, scrape the table with those crumb scraper things, fold your napkins when you leave your seat, etc. Normal for this caliber of restaurant. The atmosphere here is much nicer than at the West End Grill. The restaurant itself is pretty, with a good amount of space, decent lighting, some windows with views, and a nice bar. The wine list is large, but I am not a wine expert. Their selection of spirits is acceptable, but not interesting or especially exciting. The food we had (which included lobster tails, surf and turf, spinach salads, scallops, a sea bass special plus some appetizers) varied. My lobster tails were fine--properly cooked, served with warm butter and lemon wedges. Lobster mainly needs to not be messed up, and they did fine with it. The vegetables and mashed potatoes that came with them, however, were uninspired. Little flavor, indifferent presentation. The spinach salad w/ warm dressing and brie was also only OK. The dressing was far too sweet for me, which was fine while the brie lasted to cut the flavor, but since there was only one slice of brie, I didn't bother finishing the salad. We shared quite a few oysters, and I'd say they were the highlight of the meal. I had never had kumamotos before, and they were excellent.

Went here for a birthday celebration recently. I wasn't sure what to expect, but, figured we'd give it a try. The decor does not fit the area...I mean this in a good way. When I passed through the door, it was like teleporting to LA, or, NYC, or Boston. Upscale, but, didn't feel stuffy. The service was top notch. We spent several hours eating , drinking, and celebrating. All dishes from salads to primary course through desert & coffee were fantastic. Well prepared, cooked spot on, bold, but, not over seasoned. I hope didn't just catch them on a good night, because they set the bar very high for a repeat visit. The cherry on top, was a surprise birthday card signed by the staff; yes, real hand signed in ink (and even a highlighter) by the staff added that feeling that they were happy to go the extra mile. Needless, to say, I'm looking forward to eating here again soon.

Nice atmosphere. Good service. Food was mediocre. Really disappointed in the food for the price. Also the craft beer selection was disappointing.

Food was good but the wine pours were not. Not sure if this is the bartender or management but not a good way to get a good tip or additional visits.

From begining to end we had lousy service and the food was ok. We went to Rick Erwin's West End Grill for our anniversary and it was an AWESOME time. Fantastic service and food and they made us feel so welcome we spent boat loads on our bar tab. My pre-birthday / pre-show Sunday brunch at Nantucket did not meet even our lowest expectations. We had reservations that we arrived promptly for and were given lousy seating options because someone else had "reservations for those tables". The waiter didn't offer the specials or a wine list we had to ask for both. I had the seafood quiche and it was mostly quiche not much seafood....All of our courses came out at once and the waiter while only servicing three tables was completely absent during our dining experience. Abismal... wont return

I ate here during a business dinner, and while the food here is very good, it is certainly not worth the price. The seafood tower appetizer is quite expensive, and could probably do without the lobster tail. Unless there are only 2 people, there's no way to reasonably split a tail, so the $50 tag is kinda ridiculous. I ordered the seared Ahi tuna...delicious, but portions are meager given the ~$30 price. Service was a little slow for our party of 10...it often took longer than expected to get another round of drinks. Overall a decent place to eat, but there are better restaurants downtown for the money.

We love everything about this place, but my absolute favorite thing to order are their snow crab legs. They are the biggest I have ever seen! They had a nice bright color and a good snap indicating that they were very fresh. The atmosphere is classy and the wait staff is attentive.

Service was far below expectations. I am writing this review at 9:30 while waiting on my table. The reservation was at 8:45. Why even bother taking reservations? The food might be above average but the service is not! The hostesses were obviously unhappy, understandably, but you'd think they'd be trained to be kind and greet diners with a smile on their faces given the prices charged at the restaurant. Never again. Definitely going to be late for the New Year's party, it'll probably be the new year by the time we are seated...

If you want seafood in Greenville, this is the place to go. Nantucket always has a nice selection of oysters. The entrées are good. I generally order one of their features for the night. Some have been great and others average. At this price point I would like to see a little more consistency. This is where I took away a star. The service of the waitstaff on the other hand, has always been exceptional. Good wine list too.

This was quite tasty. if you aren't dressed up, be prepared to be escorted to the bar or to the patio. This was fine - who really dresses any more? The bread was served warm & the butter sank in. The service was fantastic! The Lobster Bites as an appetizer had just the right amount of spice. Loved the corn risotto that accompanied the crab cakes. My partner devoured the surf & turf - judging by the fact that I wasn't able to sample even a morsel this tells me that it was delectable.

This is a bold statement, but I think Nantuckets is the best restaurant I have ever been to. Since there are so few cons I'll start with those. Cons: I have no cons Pros: the service is the best I have ever had. The waiters know the food and wines to a surprising degree and can answer any question you throw at them. Some of them are ex-chefs and are very knowledgeable about the food in that regard. The food is fantastic. Although Nantuckets is not on the coast, their seafood is light years better than anything I've had in the east, west, or gulf coasts. The blackened grouper is out of this world good. They always have at least three types of oysters and can help you choose which one(s) you'd enjoy. Definitely try the crispy broccoli florets and macaroni n cheese sides. For some reason most nice restaurants seem to play either trashy music belonging to a McDonald's lobby or painfully pretentious classical music that doesn't always leave one feeling good about life after dinner. However, Nantuckets plays a great jazz mix spanning several decades of music. The noise level is always low which is great for talking. They have a delicious brunch on Sunday's. It used to be by menu which I preferred, but now it's a buffet. This is nice because you can try some of everything, but I think the quality of food is a bit lower because of it. I've never had a problem getting reservations the day of here, but I'd probably call ahead just to be safe as they sometimes host large parties.

Beautiful atmosphere, although sitting in the courtyard is a real treat if the weather is suitable. Nice wine selection & the seafood tower is bountiful & mouthwatering, not to mention a gorgeous presentation! The Fish dishes are expertly prepared, and the soups are wonderful if you want lighter fare.

This place has probably got the best bloody mary in downtown greenville, especially on Sundays. Marshall is a good server/bartender. Also had a wide selection of seafood including oysters on the half shell which is definitely a bonus. However I didnt give it 5 stars because I had to take my hat off to be in there. Kinda dumb

The best service and food. ....had such a great time! Best Halibut ever, including raw oysters on the half shell. I had grilled tuna.....outstanding! Drinks & atmosphere..perfect!

Really a two star, but I gave it three due to the beautifully appointed rooms. The place is really very nice and as you walk in you have the feeling that of will have a fantastic experience all around. Unfortunately, the food is average at best for the advertised level of this place and the cost. Their website says it has been voted Best Seafood in South Carolina. Well, wonder what those who voted got, because what I got was ok, but not close to the best in South Carolina. Disclaimer, we lived in the Boston area for several decades so we know what good seafood is supposed to look and taste like. Believe me, this is not it and find other restaurants in Greenville to have better seafood than this. This was our first visit, and good thing we came with friends that made up for the uninspiring food. I started with the mussels. I got a very generous looking plate of mussels topped with two pieces of grilled baguette. Looked very nice, the bread was crispy and tasty. The actual mussels minuscule and the sauce very bland. I have had such great mussels around...like at Bin 110 and Trattoria Giorgio for example. Those had a very tasty broth that invited you to lick the plate, but you had to settle by taking every drop with the provided baguette. So, having had some great tasting mussels as close as a block away, I was disappointed with this ones. My main course was the Seafood Pasta, hey, you are at a Seafood place so why not. Had high expectations, specially after seeing the very nice presentation of what was placed in front of me. This one was better than the mussels, but found it did not matched the look of it. The pasta (ziti) was way overcooked, I mean many mutes beyond all dente which is something you expect at a place of this advertised quality and level (clearly not cooked to order). The scallops looked great, but they had a funny consistency. Shrimp very good, sauce ok. Desserts looked very nice and the Creme brûlée tasted very nice. They have a very nice selection of wines and beers, point on that one. Overall, not a fan and will not return - maybe in a year or so to see if they got better, but for the price you have many options around that betas this one hands down. PS. I am a big fan of Rick Erwin's Deli...try it, I am certain you will find it very good. Of course, this one is a complete different experience and level, but wanted to clarify that I have nothing against Mr. Erwin.

Bad food and worse management assistance with bad food at Nantucket. We are in Greenville every 4-6 weeks and always eat at Rick Erwins and love it but Nantucket is not even close After traveling all day we decided the bar at Nantucket would be easy for dinner since we stay at the Courtyard in the same building. My wife ordered fried green tomatoes. They were mostly red. I ordered the mussels which previously were good on a past trip but tonight they were tiny almost nonexistent and about 6millimeters or less than a half inch long. We told the bartender and a manager showed up that acted like he knew he needed to do something but not exactly what. He was a joke and did not offer anything. We ate the tomatoes and Mussels because we were ravished but it does not change the fact that the tomatoes were red and mussels tiny. We then went to Tupelo Honey and the food was much better. The bartenders are OK but did not take care of the problem. Go to Rick Erwins where they will know how to take care of customers not this place.

Very poor experience recently at NAntucket Seems the entire staff has turned over and it is really impacting service. In short - server brought wrong bottle of wine, then argued with us that it was wrong. Spent another 10 minutes looking for the correct wine - it was one of their 5 bottles highlighted on the menu. Food took forever to come out and only came out after we asked about it - then my steak came out cold - I sent it right back and my GF's salad came out with no dressing. We asked for our check and left. I've been to Nantucket close to 25-30 times over the last couple years. The past couple visits have been noticeable worse. I think this was our last visit.

Plan your stay in Greenville so you can have Sunday Brunch here! It would have to be the BEST-value, variety and quality! I don't know of anywhere else you can have this much delicious food for $18! If you are in the mood for breakfast or lunch it's all here!! "You have to try this!" went on and on..the chicken salad, the omelette station, the she-crab soup, the breakfast casserole, the Bloody Mary, the desserts... We will make a point to get back!

Fantastic Sunday brunch Biscuits & gravy were best ever Omelette bar was top shelf All meats were top shelf Pear martini (all three) were fantastic Desert was so good Crab soup out of this world Good service Has a Caddyshack feel to the joint

Seems like the freshness of their food has gone down hill. I always eat there before the shows at the Peace Center but will be going somewhere else. The staff is friendly but the quality of food is slipping! Ordered the seafood tower as usual, presentation was great but it looked liked they had assembled it early in the day. The oysters were good but everything else was dry and old. Hope they get their act together since I live seafood!

Not going to lie, I was a little disappointed after having such high hopes. We went for brunch, which is very resonably priced (regular eggs Benedict at $9). They give you a basket of little breakfast breads like coffee cake and pumpkin bread, etc. that were delicious. The clam chowder was good and creamy. I had been craving some good crab lately, and as a native Marylander, I broke my own rule - never order a crabcake in the South because you will be disappointed. I got the Crabcake Benedict anyway and the crabcake itself was awesome! Minimal breading & large chunks of crab with good seasoning, but not overpowering (although missing some Old Bay :) ). I hate to give them 3 stars for the sub-par rest of my plate. There was no visible Hollandaise, though I could taste it a bit on the top. When I cut into my egg, the yolk was not runny whatsoever, and my grits were almost glued to my plate. I am thinking mine was done before my boyfriend's so it sat under the heat lamps and cooked further. Our server was kind & attentive to the right degree. He did not make us feel out of place even though we were the youngest couple in there by about 30 years. The Bloody Mary had one of the biggest and best shrimp I've ever tasted & my mimosa was almost exclusively champagne, just the way I like it! They were both resonable at $7 (the Bloody Mary was a double). I ordered a side of fruit which was not on the menu, though it came with some of the other entrees. It was way overpriced for the small portion I got, but it wasn't a menu option so I guess I can't complain. All in all, it is Nantucket Seafood, and the seafood we got was incredible! But the rest of it just fell short. In all the restaurants I've gotten Eggs Benedict, I've never gotten a solid egg yolk and no visible Hollandaise.

Yes the prices are expensive. However, the crab cakes are worth every Jackson and a 1/2 of a Hamilton. The she crab soup is one of the best I have had. Add the sherry it really ads a nice dab of sweetness.

We were staying in downtown Greenville and asked the front desk for a good seafood restaurant, he recommend The Nantucket. It was literally around the corner (from The Westin). This place was AMAZING! It's expensive, but well worth it. We had the She-crab soup appetizer w/the Lobster & 4oz Filet entree. Fabulous! Don't normally have dessert, but we did! I recommend the key lime pie. The service was very impressive. Our next trip to Greenville will include another visit to Nantucket!

I've eaten here a few times. Not only have I never been impressed, but extremely disappointed. Coming from someone who has worked in the industry, trust my opinion. Our whole tables meals were served at different times, entrees came out wrong or they were missing...and at the end of it we were never spoken to by a manager or even apologized to from our server. We all still tipped our 20%, however there won't be anymore of those from our group. Sorry Rick, but this place has continuously missed the mark.

Expensive, but perfect for big occasions. They had no trouble helping me arrive on my anniversary with roses on the table. The food is just silly good. Compared to most restaurants, these guys are cheating. Best quality, Best chefs. If the occasion calls for it, just go. Not a normal date night for anyone below upper-middle class, but for important events, totally worth it!

I have been to Nantucket a few times. The atmosphere, service, food presentation, and food preparation have been incredible. I am surprised by the experience of some other patrons and wonder could this be attributed to the server. I love Nantucket and recommend it to business associates, family, and my friends. My experiences at Nantucket have been lovely.

I love this restaurant. The past few times I've been, everything has been excellent. The spinach and Brie salad with warm bacon vinegar dressing is outstanding, and last nights' crab cake was perfect. Huge chunks of crab with very little fillers.

My husband wanted to take me out for a fancy dinner and heard good things about Nantucket Seafood Grill. We went on a Friday night in October 2013, We arrived before our reservation and they got us in right away. We were seated at a table against a curved wall that was honestly too close to the large table next to it and a major traffic path for servers and waiters. The restaurant was dimly lit with fancy decor, but very few people were dressed up. It was very busy. We ordered the jumbo shrimp appetizer and she-crab soup at the recommendation of our server. I really love a good shrimp cocktail and this one was good. The She-Crab soup was amazing--very rich and flavorful. This was definitely the best thing we ordered and I would highly recommend it.. The main dishes, however failed to impress me. I ordered the stuffed lobster tail and crab legs and my husband ordered the grouper. The stuffing on the lobster was not very tasty and kind of salty. The lobster was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. My husband had no complaints about the Grouper. Dessert was a little disappointing. My creme brulee was runny and my husband's key lime pie was too lime-y. All in all, Nantucket Seafood Grill was nice but nothing special. Especially when you consider the price and reputation, I was expecting better quality food and a more comfortable atmosphere.

What a great place to eat!!! Being from New England and living in Florida for 25 years I like good seafood. Since moving to South Carolina I have been on a quest for some and finally found it. Love this place

I hear that there are some mixed reviews on this place and I get it. I have had great meals here and then some spotty ones. However, I love the atmosphere and bar area. I have spent many evenings with friends bellying up to the bar and just love the ambiance. The food is generally great and service is right on. I took my team there last week and everyone left full and impressed. The She Crab Soup is delicious. I always enjoy when the wait staff brings out the Sherry separately so you can sweeten your own soup. Makes for a better soup and each person can enjoy it their way. Rick... Good work on this one.

Ate at Nantucket before a show at the Peace Center. The hostess, server and all other staff seriously could not have been nicer. It is so rare to see a staff so well-trained. She even requested that my boyfriend cut into his steak while she was standing there to be sure it was cooked to his liking. That's hard to come by these days. Our food was good, though nothing extraordinary. But with service that great, it really was a memorable meal. It is more upscale than what we normally frequent downtown, and definitely had an older crowd (we're in our late 20s, but lots of Grandparent-type figures around us) but I would recommend it to anyone looking for fine dining, seafood and/or steaks.

Nantucket is without a doubt, my favorite restaurant in Greenville. The food is excellent, and the service is always impeccable. Even on the busy Valentines Day weekend, we were served in a very timely manner. My favorite item is the Grouper. It is served with a crab/cream cheese topping on a bed of greens and a delicious, perfectly crispy potato cake. I usually order the smaller version, because I always like to start out with the crab cake appetizer. Insider tip: We usually split the crab cake entree as our appetizer, it's cheaper than getting 2 crab cake apps and you get the creamy corn risotto!

Our party of 12 had dinner on a Thursday evening. Scallops were some of the best that I've ever had. For dinner I had the seafood pasta minus the mussels. This dish was not only delicious, it was HUGE, easily large enough to share or take 1/2 home for another meal. The restaurant was fairly busy. We were waiting a long time for our order to be taken once the appetizer order was taken. Like an uncomfortably long time to hang on to the huge menu. Dinner came at an appropriate amount of time for a party of 12. Dessert was ordered and it was at least 20 minutes before our tasty treats came out. This seemed like an unacceptable amount of time considering that there was only 4 or 5 of us that ordered dessert. All in all, our dinner experience lasted about 3 hours which included about 20 minutes in the bar prior to being seated. When in Greenville again, I may go back. Food was good and maybe the process would be a little quicker with less people.

The scallops are delectable, great choice of sides, and the brunch is one of Greenville's best kept secrets. If i wasn't such a bum on the weekends i would come here more for brunch but Nantucket is definitely way too fancy for my go-to hungover look. Only complaint is one time when I came here for brunch the weekend of my graduation we had to wait over an hour get food. The other times I have been here the meals had lasted a long time, but that wasn't due to poor service.

Food was average. Oysters were great but after that I wasn't impressed. The service was below average. For the price and atmosphere I had high expectations and they were well short of meeting them.

Been to Nantucket about 5 times. All times have been excellent except once (we ordered the filet that time, which maybe wasn't the best choice at a seafood restaurant). Good Seafood, good service, good atmosphere, good location. A bit pricey, but I think it was worth it for a nice evening out. Hush Puppies are amazing. Side of Broccoli (tempura) is great too.

Rick Erwin has a spectacular reputation as a restaurateur in Greenville, but as I rarely eat red meat, visiting his steakhouse hasn't been high on my list. So I was excited to try his new venture: Nantucket Seafood Grill. Obviously his reputation gathers a crowd: it was packed. The dining room is tight and loud, feeling more like a banquet room. Getting to the bathroom (a single seater in a restaurant that holds 150-200?) is an obsticle course, dodging other guests and waiters rushing around with hot lobster butter. The food was ok, but definitely not worth the price. We ordered a dozen oysters, and when they came out, there were only 10. When we asked our server about this, she said "huh, I wonder what they left off?". Not too professional. Our bottle of white wine was served barely over room temperature. Even the server said "I'll give you each a small pour and then put the bottle in the chiller". What? I thought Erwin was well known for his wine cellar...and I'm served room temperature white wine? I don't get it. The rest of the meal (steamed mussels, seafood pasta) was ok, but to my palette, everything was underseasoned. Not just salt, but it all lacked any depth of flavor. Now back to that bottle of wine. The communal chilling bucket was several tables away, so when are glasses were empty, we couldn't just refill our own glasses. Our glasses spent much time empty, waiting for our server to notice...even when we put our empty glasses on the outside edge of the table. In fact, by the time we had finished dinner, dessert and coffee, she hadn't poured us the whole bottle. She finally poured our last glasses as she gave us the check, so there we sat...our meal completely done and paid for...trying to finish off our wine. For a small city, Greenville has a spectacular choice of restaurants to choose from. So will I be back to Nantucket Seafood Grill? Sorry, Mr. Erwin, but you failed to impress.

The food is okay. For starters I had: She-crab soup - it was fine. It wasn't like I was in Charleston. New Orleans BBQ Grilled Oysters - it was...there. I ate my piece. It DEFINITELY wasn't like I was in Nola. Calamari - it was good. And fried. Like anywhere else that serves fried squid. I couldn't decide between the swordfish and the scallops for my main course. On the suggestion of the waiter, I ordered the scallops. A little overcooked for my taste, most definitely over "pan-seared." The hollandaise sauce was nice, though they didn't cut the bottoms from my asparagus, which annoyed me every time that I looked down. The "oscar" atop was nice, as was the plating. The service is only slightly better than the mediocre food. It's one of those places where the waiters think that handing you an iPad and not just talking equates a high class experience. Several times, the waiter pointed at my empty bourbon, held up his other pointer finger, and raised his eyebrows. Don't get me wrong-- I enjoyed giving him dramatic "thumbs up!" and "OK!" signs. I mean, it was funny; but I don't think that was his intent. Overall, if you're looking for an overall food experience that matches the price tag, I would suggest Larkin's on the River.

I haven't had the full sit down experience in Nantucket's swanky dining room, however I have been to the plush bar area twice: once for apps; the other for dinner and a knockout bottle of Rioja. So far I'd say this chic restaurant in downtown Greenville is simply outstanding. The servers are all professional and knowledgeable as far as I can tell. The wine list is rather extensive, and I remember being especially impressed with my waitress as she so easily answered my questions and gave me a thorough explanation of various reds. Don't even get me started on the food. As I write this - at six o'clock in the morning - I am actually craving the black grouper with risotto and wilted spinach. This phenomenal dish had not one but TWO butter sauces, Buerre Blanc and Buerre Something Else...I'll just call it Buerre Divine...plus a shot of balsamic vinegar which really made me swoon. I loved this dish so much I probably could have licked the plate at the risk of appearing *slightly* uncouth. And, for someone who has never been fond of scallops, I certainly put a dent in the seafood dip. Need I say more?

I was disappointed to say the least. We had reservations at 730 but wasn't seated until 8. My sister requested us to be seated at a table where our server would be Frank. Not the best of choices. We started out with the calamari which was fabulous. However, when we ordered our food to the time we received it was at least 45 minutes. Our server came over 3 times to apologize for our food being less than timely. My sister got the scallops Oscar wheich were fabulous. I got the $38 salmon which although a nice portion, had no flavor. I mean, none. The meal was less than mind blowing. The manager came over and apologized for our wait for our food and gave us complimentary dessert. Again, not that spectacular. I got the chocolate cake. Although visually stunning, it was almost too cold and stiff to eat. I'd rather the waiter took less time talking about how he used to own and manage an Italian restaurant in New York and actually pay attention to paying customers, my experience wouldn't have been so disappointing.

My wife and I had dinner here last night. We had reservations and were seated on time. She ordered the clam chowder and salmon and I had the shrimp and grits with a Caesar salad to start. The waiter offered fresh ground pepper. The pepper dispenser exploded over my salad and dumped whole peppercorns in my salad and a mound of pepper on the floor. The waiter laughed about it and never offered to clean it up or replace the salad. So, the salad was terrible and the smell from the mound of pepper on the floor didn't help. My wife's salmon was way overcooked, very dry, and had no flavor. The shrimp and grits had 4 pieces of shrimp total. The grits were very soupy and had too much of the sauce on top of them. We came at the recommendation of a friend and we will not be back.

I've tried quite a few downtown restaurants, Soby's, Lazy Goat,High Cotton. None can compare with Nantucket. The food is wonderful and the service is GREAT. CB

Happened into Nantucket on a rainy night while my family was visiting from California and they were in the mood for something more "classy" than what they had been experiencing up until then. So we walked in with no reservation and were told we could sit at a small table in the bar/ lounge area which was ok by us. Drinks were poured, and appetizers were ordered, the best and only memorable of which was the fried calamari. Fried to perfection and served over a nice fresh Asian style slaw. Unfortunately the downfall of this and many other seafood restaurants I've been to in the past is their inability to cook a steak. Now maybe you would expect that from a place mainly concerned with cooking beautiful fish and crustaceans but my problem is that it is so closely related to Rick Erwins that they should be able to cook a medium rare steak to go with the nicely grilled lobster tail on the Surf 'n Turf. Our personal experience was quite bad considering 3 of the 4 people who ordered the surf n turf ( all medium rare ) were served steaks that looked like they were pre-grilled and cooked 2 days ago, only to be hastily reheated for our dining displeasure. So needless to say they were all well done and dry as all hell. 10 minutes later after sending back the destroyed steaks we were given 3 brand new, steaming, glistening hunks of meat. Still hungry and hopeful for a nice juicy well cooked piece of meat my family members cut into them simultaneously only to find they were all RAW inside, completely raw. Now I'm a cook and I know how it is sometimes when people send back food and I know its always better to take the time to cook something right rather than try to push the food back out as fast as possible. In summation, the fish swam and the steak sank. Not quite worth the $$$ altogether.

I have had the pleasure of eating here twice in the past year. The first time I tried the oysters, which were excellent. On this past visit, I had the highly recommended Grouper. i would not have ordered it, except for the waitress recommendation. Unfortunately I did not find it that great. As a girl who was raised to clean my plate, it is usually not a great sign, when I don't. the rest of the meal was excellent though. I really enjoyed their Black Betty cocktail, which I had 2 of.

Had dinner there with our friends at end of Foodie Fest. Food very good, value fair as well as service. I had a nice ceviche for starters, followed by a grouper layered with a crab cake and key lime pie for dessert. Heavy sales push by the waiter on additional side dishes; he all but said that the included entree accompaniments were too small and we should "strongly consider" a few.. We got grilled asparagus and a corn risotto and then they came 10 minutes after our entree!!! I asked twice for them when the highly touted expensive sides didn't arrive and that was the best they could do. Nice wines but limited by the glass choices. For $200, not a place I would return to with the other values in downtown Greenville

Faith was our server tonite as we stopped for light appetizers and drinks. Faith is the reason I would consider dinner here due to her great personality and service. The soup were excellent esp. She crab and tomato basil.

Always have a great experience in the bar area and at several dinners in the restaurant. Good service, great food and Rick Irwin, the owner, is always around keeping an eye on things. Great place!

Im not a big fan of seafood, but this is the second time I have had the pleasure of eating at this restaurant... I love the atmosphere! The table for two is small but our wait staff was amazing at keeping what we needed and what we didn't so that we had plenty of room. Our waitress was awesome and helpful and whipped out her new iPad Mini with the wine list (Loved that). Had several excellent suggestions on the menu and explained the specials in detail and with the excitement of someone that had actually tried them! My fiancé and myself both decided to have salads I had the Baby Spinach, Apple, and Brie Salad (Warm Bacon Dressing, Caramelized Green Apple, Red Onions, Dried Cranberries and Candied Pecans). My fiancé had the Caesar Salad with homemade croutons. We also both had the "Shrimp & Grits" which were delicious and large portions (of which we had for lunch the next day). We were also going to the symphony at the Peace Centre and the waitress was wonderful at managing our time so she sent us off in time to be seated without having to step on peoples toes :) Highly recommend this restaurant and the wait staff!

Owned by one of the influential families in Greenville, the Erwins, the Nantucket Seafood Grill is an upscale restaurant along the Reedy River. Food: We started with the Calamari (good, but the breading was a bit thick), and I had the Blue Crab and Cream Cheese Encrusted Grouper - MMmmm! Just as good as it sounds! The blue crab and cream cheese were not too overpowering for the fish - just the perfect amount was broiled onto the top. It added a creaminess and a pop of flavor that kept me audibly mmm-ing at every bite! We also had the scallops and the ceviche - both of which were good, but not even near as good as the grouper. Atmos: It was a beautiful night, so we ate outside on the patio. The restaurant is actually connected to the Marriott Courtyard, so the patio is shared by Nantucket and the Courtyard's cafe. Although it sounds like this would bring the vibe down, it actually did the opposite. There is a large grassy area in between the restaurant and the Courtyard which both patios back up to. The grassy area also butts up against Main Street, so families and children were coming down the the grass to run around and relax. It created a very warm atmosphere. Service: Service was good - no complaints. Price: A bit pricey, but worth it as long as you order the right thing!

Decent food but the service is always off. When a server sese you go and get a salt shaker and comes to your table while you are taking the top off it because it is gummed up you would think he would offer to remedy the problem. Hell I even told him about. I have almost gotten used to it as i have eaten there 5-6 times. I think it very expensive also but the food is OK. I will probably go back but I don't think I will ever be a regular there.

Really good Seafood. I am not a fan of seafood unless the fish is really fresh. I have been to Nantucket Seafood several times and really enjoyed my dinner every time. This restaurant is definitely on my rotation when I am in Greenville for business. The only reason I would not give them a 5 star rating is that the first time I went they were out of my order and it took about half an hour for them to realize the kitchen was not making it. They comped my entire meal on that occasion, so I was very satisfied.

Where are these people coming from who don't like this restaurant?!?! We had a wonderful meal. So far the only other high-end restaurant we have visited here is Larkin's and this was soooooo much better. Ambiance is wonderful, service couldn't be better. Two of us had the spinach salad that was, maybe, the best I have ever had. Another person had the she crab soup which he said was the best. The bread is delicious!! I had the crab cakes, got two as I was afraid one would not be enough -- wrong, should have ordered only one as it had to be 90% crab -- very, very good. The four of us were too full to order dessert even though the choices seemed wonderful. If you don't go anywhere else in Greenville, GO HERE!.

Seriously, what is the hype all about. First, we had to pay up front for valet service, as there is no parking to be found around here. We had a reservation and waited 30 minutes past the time to finally sit down without any apology. Ordered a bottle of wine which the server only bothered to refill our glasses once. I walked over to the stinkin bucket to refill ours in front of our server who seemed agitated by my actions. Last but not least my fish was undercooked and I managed to get sick off it that night. BOOO. I could go to Long John Silvers for that.

This review is for sunday brunch. While the food was meh, the dining room was nice. We got the adjacent table's drinks spilled all over us, so that got us a free meal, and dry cleaning services. Maybe dinner would be better, but the service while, they were nice about the mistake was overwhelming, the food was overpriced, and WAY to greasy. They are trying too hard....I live in NYC and it really isnt that hard to put out good simple food.

I visited Nantucket upon the advice of friends who said nothing but good things about this restaurant. I was impressed with the two restaurant managers who were dressed in suits and were available upon my arrival and throughout the evening. I was also impressed with the decor of the restaurant. Dark woods and plenty of windows create a relaxing and elegant atmosphere. The bar is made of granite and the bartenders were prompt and personable. My wife and both ordered the cup of clam chowder as an appetizer. It was hot but nothing special. It was a bit thin and reminded me of something from a can. It was also under-salted, but that is something that can be a personal taste. The fresh bread and garlic butter were very good. I had the crab cakes and my wife had the swordfish. The crab cakes were good, but they didn't have enough of a binder so they broke apart too easily. They were served over a bed of greens that were overcooked. The swordfish was a little dry and absolutely nothing special. The swordfish was served over a bed of caramelized onions, which don't seem like a vegetable/starch side to me, but rather a garnish. Presentation was good. For desert I had the peach tart and my wife had the creme brulee. Again, the peach tart was nothing special. The crust was too dry and it seemed too "prepared". The peach tart also seemed like it was plated early in the day and was in the cooler for an extended period of time. The creme brulee was again...nothing special. The melted sugar crust looked fine, but you could taste the sugar granules when eating it. The fruit that garnished the desert again looked like it had been sitting in the cooler for an extended period of time. While we were eating our desert, our waiter put the check down between us, never asking if we wanted coffee or anything else. We finished desert, placed the credit card in billfold so it was visible, and placed it on the edge of the table. It was at this time our waiter greeted the table behind us, a five top. The waiter went into detail about the specials of the night (which he didn't do with us) and also his personal feelings about the best fish on the menu. He then went on about his great accomplishments in the areas of singing and Broadway musicals, even singing at the table. He went on and on about his talents outside of waiting tables, including how he turned down a baseball scholarship to pursue studies in other areas. Just when you hoped he would stop telling his life story and either take their order, or better yet pick up our check, he continued on about his personal website and some performances/workshops he was conducting. We waited and waited, ready to leave and not hear more about his greatness...finally one of the managers came to pick up the check and run the credit card. So, what do I think about Nantucket? Great atmosphere and an attentive management staff. Nice bar area. If you're looking for a great meal, don't come here. The food is ok, but nothing special, especially for the top-dollar prices they charge. There are MUCH better options in downtown Greenville which will provide a made-to-order gourmet meal for the same price. I would pass on the desert menu...go grab an ice cream on Main Street. You'll be more satisfied. Will I ever return to Nantucket? No. Not enough there to get me back. If you do go, hopefully you're not bored to tears hearing a waiter's life story. It will ruin any appetite you have.

Without a doubt one of the best meals in Greenville. The chowder, salads and bread begin the evening in a warm, delicious manner. The waiter's honesty about the wine proved accurate and we appreciated his suggestions. The shrimp and trout entrees surpassed our expectations. I also enjoyed that there was a choice for a smaller portion. The atmosphere emits an elegant yet comfortable environment as some sit at the bar casually. this all equalled a wonderful experience... But wait, the desserts opened our eyes to true decadence . The tart topped with fresh fruit looked appealing and tasted perfect, yet it paled in comparison the the chocolate cake. this piece could feed two to four people! The frosting melted in our mouths and the cake was light and moist as could be. THIS is not to be missed, as the next day is tasted even better believe it or not. Nantucket, we will return on our next visit!,thank you for a grand evening.

Went to this high priced restaurant expecting great food, great service, and a great atmosphere, we were disappointed on all 3 counts. We had a large group and 2 servers both of which were lazy & incompetent. First they only took drink orders from some of our party and ignored others, then forgot half of the drinks anyway. Next it took 3 times ordering to find a fish that they actually had (the first 2 they were out of) but they kept forcefully pushing the overpriced special. I have a severe food allergy to onions (yes it's a real thing). I was very specific with my server about my allergy and she assured my entrée could be made without onions. To my dismay my plate arrived fully of onions, but neither server was sorry or understood that food allergies are not a joking matter. First my server argued with me stating there were no onions in the dish. When I pointed out the onions her excuse changed to "there are always onions in that didn't you read the menu". The second server offered to fix the issue, when he brought the plate back it looked like the same fish on a new plate. I verified that it was a new uncontaminated piece of fish because if it had already been sitting on a bed of onions I still could not eat it. His excuse was that he did not know it was an allergy but just a food preference (but he clearly heard me telling the first server how serious my allergy was). Finally on the third try I got a piece of fish that would not make me sick but I pretty sure it was not the fish I ordered but the a cheaper fish. Upon speaking with the floor manager he was just a careless about the event that the servers were. If you have a food allergy DO NOT EAT HERE. If you expect great food and great service at this price point do not go here. BTW I was charged full price with no discount for the meal!

Ate here twice when I was staying at the attached Marriott and it was just too cold to venture any further afield. The first night it was late so I just sat in a corner in the surprisingly busy bar and had a bowl of clam chowder and the calamari appetizer. The chowder was nothing special, but it was warm and hit the spot. The calamari was tossed with peppers and prosciutto, which was different and good. On the second night I wanted a full meal and was really surprised to find the dining room completely booked on a Tuesday night. Again I sat at the bar and was pleased with very good attentive service from the bartenders. I ordered the salad/entree/dessert "tasting menu" with the Canadian salmon. The house salad was fine, the salmon was serve with a good but rather ordinary beurre blanc sauce, and the dessert - pecan bourbon tart - was delicious. The bartender said they recently revamped the dessert menu and that people had been raving about them. All things considered, a good meal and nice experience on a cold lonely night on the road.
