We went here for Valentine's Day and had a good experience. I had made reservations in advance so our wait was about 2 minutes (a man behind us had been waiting an hour and had another to go but no reservation). The food was excellent as expected and the chef was entertaining (if a bit slow). I wasn't overwhelmed with the kindness of the waitress. She should have come by more often and I had to ask twice for my drink to go after every one else at our table had left. We will definitely return and definitely have reservations!

Great food and HUGE portions. You get what you pay for, for sure! Deff coming back again

This place was jam packed with people but there was only one waitress for like 15 tables on a busy friday night at the sushi bar and it took like an hour and 20 minutes just to eat, meanwhile they had two hostesses. The sushi was not quite like anything I had experienced before so I am kinda indifferent about it but I think the value definitely is there. I would not go back only because the wait was too long.

Definitely worth a visit. Sushi was pretty good and well executed. Actually the best I had in GVL since we moved here. Staff was nice. If you don't want to wait for a table in the restaurant have a seat at the sushi bar. There is always a free space.

Made reservations for 8:30 and did not get to sit down til 9:30. Isn't it that reservations RESERVES your seats? The waiters were lacking. Did not get our drinks until after the appetizers were taken up. The chef was extremely cool. The food was great...except the rice wasn't cooked enough. I was not impressed with the staff. Expensive food, poor staff, and overall quality was fair. I would not eat here again unless it was for a very special occasion.

Horrible service !!!! Took 1 hr to get sat after reservations, 25 minutes to get first drinks which were water another 20 to get salad and soup another 20 for the cook to come out I mean the place was half empty what could they be doing I asked ??? Then I went to the bathroom and saw half the staff standing around talking.. Then they have the nerve to have suggested gratuity 20% and up yeah right for what ???will never go back

Don't really get the hype? It's Sunday, we got here at 7... It's now 817 and we still don't have appetizers.. Not really impressed with the wait staff either. Incredibly rude and haven't been attentive in any way, shape or form. I would suggest going elsewhere.

Don't get how this place got 4 stars went there for birthday dinner with my gf for her son was very disappointed have been to many Japanese steakhouses before dinner seemed to be all rice very little vegetables chef was okay I've had more entertaining chefs else where will definitely not be back

We usually love the food here, but it has gone down hill fast. The past two times we were here we had a horrible hibachi chef (Tony) and the sanitation is highly questionable. He used the same utensils to lay out raw chicken on the grill the immediately serve us rice... Without cleaning or wiping the utensils off. Also, I found a string in my salad. When I asked the waiter he said it is from cleaning the lettuce (?) Needless to say I will not return.

absolutely the best place in Greenville. great staff, attentive to needs. and the food is definitely fresh, items cooked before your eyes!!!!

Not happy about the wait time. Was seated and still waiting an hour for our cook after the soup and salad was delivered. Food was good but not a great experience for the price.

Website (menu page) states"Early Bird Specials - Mon. - Fri. 4:30-5:30 pm" We showed up at 4:30 hungry, sign on door stated they don't open until 5:00. Not in the mood to wait in an empty parking lot we went elsewhere.

Another good find during my stay in the Greenville area. We came here on Sunday noon and there was already a line outside waiting for it to open. It is your typical Teppenyaki style restaurant. Outside is very Japanese and inside is one of the best decorated Japanese restaurant I ever been in. We ordered the lunch special: Shrimp and Steak, also some sushi, both tastes greeeat! The staff were very nice and friendly the cook at the table were very funny and chatty made our lunch experience fun and the beef he cooked were great! I will be back again!

Ah yes, Teppanyaki. There seem to be three very popular places in the Greenville area (Mimi's and Kanpai being the other two), but among them Miyabi was my favorite. Why? They give you more food (I guess to be more specfic, they give you more rice, but it's soo good). All three places will give you the same stuff, but Kanpai and Miyabi offer "early bird" discounts, which makes it about $10 cheaper to eat there. You can combo your meals (shrimp and steak, steak and chicken, etc...) which allows you to try more. I can't say that any of these places has great sushi, but for hibachi, MIyabi has my vote.

This is the worst restaurant I have eaten at in a very long time. Dirty dishes. Horrible service. Disgusting food. Whoever manages this restaurant should be fired. I normally do not review, but felt that it was important to get the word out so others don't waste their money.

Yuck! I just had tuna sushi from this place and I SWEAR it was raw filet mignon. It was so gross! I've never seen tuna the color it was...or tasted tuna this gross. The other two rolls I had were weird...and not very impressive. My spicy tuna hand roll was good...not great.....and I had to special request it..as hand rolls are not on the menu. On a good note...the service was very good. The sushi chefs were quick and polite...as was the server. I'm sure I'll be back...since I think it's the only sushi joint around..but I won't be excited about it!

This review is for the sushi bar, not the Japanese grill. Once you get over the fact that the sushi bar is in a kitschy grill, you realize that the fish is the freshest, the chefs the most talented, and the rolls the tastiest in the area. I'm a sushi snob, hit every place in Greenville, and kept coming back to Miyabi. If you aren't out to "be seen" and really just want the tastiest sushi, go to the Miyabi sushi bar.

I looooooove miyabi! Everyone is always so nice and watching them cook it all in front of you is fun. I'm really picky about japanese food but I could eat Miyabi every day and be happy.

This is a very trendy place! ..... (The trend where all eateries are becoming cheap, dirty and unfriendly). Food - My steak and shrimp was neither bad nor good, just ok. (Lots of extra rice to fill you up though). Cook - That was a funny guy! Staff at the door - Bunch of angry kids who cannot bring themselves to have a minimum of basic manners. Apparently smiling is not allowed either. Our waiter - Swift and attentive, although he had really bad memory and forgot my beer. Bottom line, This place is better than Kampai and Mimi's...imagine that!

  • Justin G.

Hands down this place is probably the best place to get a decent steak dinner and the rice, soup is the best. What is not is the WAIT TIME....absolutely awful without a doubt. I have waited some times over 2 hours because of their totally disorganized handling of customer's and seating. If you want to get in and not wait there is a trick...CALL AHEAD like hours ahead especially if its a weekend!

I am a big fan of the location in Columbia and this one was pretty comparable decor and food wise. I was totally unimpressed with the hostess staff. We called and asked what exit they were off of and she couldn't even tell me. After that she didn't even offer to put me on hold to see if someone else could give me the info I needed. Once we got there, we were seated immediately and greeted promptly by our waiter who wanted to take our order right then. We hadn't even had three minutes to look over the menu. We politely asked him to come back. After our order was placed our appetizers of soup and salad were served quickly and the chef followed promptly after that. The food was great, no complaints there! Once done, we asked for to go boxes with extra white sauce. Our plates were boxed up but not put in bags like we are used to so there was no way to carry the extra white sauce very well. Overall, we enjoyed or meal together, just wish the hostess and wait staff and hostess staff had done a better job.

i'm a sushi person, so i was skeptical about coming here. this is defnitely the best tasting teppanyaki place in greenville. the rice is really good with the shrimp and filet. you have to tell them exactly when to take the meat off the grill or they'll overcook it. sushi was not good. sorry. go to irashiai for sushi. period.

  • vuong p.

Very good. My fellow chef took us there because he knows the sushi chef there. Sushi was basic, but fresh and exotic. Natto (fermented soybeans...yummy) was available and the lunch combos were not only cheap, but massive in quanity. Very good time here. As good as teppanyaki will get.
