I just stopped for the first time for lunch. I'm a new citizen of Greenville. I was very disappointed. I had a shrimp salad and it was skimpy, 4 shrimp, 2 baby tomatoes, 3 slices of cucumber, 1 strawberry, about 2.5 oz of mixed greens for a grand price of $10. My friend had a sandwich and a cup of soup for $10. The cup of soup was an additional $1.50. 5$ for two classes of tea (unsweetened). The place is loud, we asked for a quiet table and they placed us facing a order station with 5 other tables filled and lots of empty tables all around. The decor is just thrown together junk. The lights are nice though. Just disappointed with a place I thought would be good. Save your money.

We went to this place because a friend suggested it would be a good place for a quiet, relaxing, and personal environment. This was anything but. The general atmosphere of this place is busy. They have several nooks that are supposed to be a more private space, but every wall of this place is painted and decorated differently. It comes off as very eclectic, and makes it hard to focus on what is going on at your table. There was also a live band, which would have been nice except it was so loud we had to shout at each other to have conversation. Our dinner guest arrived, and ordered the $27 buffet. I have paid this much for buffets before, but all the food was cold. Our food order was taken in segments, which to me was just odd and uncomfortable. It really made it hard to focus on enjoying the evening when it didn't feel like we were a priority. They did bring me potato chips, and the wine was good. There is definitely no complaining about the dessert menu, but it is hard to see past cold food.

Wow - a great lunch well worth the detour from I-85. The steak salad, Ultimate Grilled Cheese, and cakes were all fantastic. Save room for dessert. Tips for interstate travelers: stop in Greenville for a couple hours. Check out the city park (complete with waterfall), walk around town a bit, and eat at the Brick Street Cafe.

I would give it a 3.5. The food was okay...nothing super impressive or spectacular. However, the cake was pretty amazing. Very moist and delicious. And the service was pretty good, too. Overall, a nice lunch.

This place is SO cute! I love how they have mismatched plates & dining tables. The decor & ambiance is very appealing. Now on to the food. We went on a Friday night while in town for a race. We were greeted and seated immediately. We started off with a crab cake appetizer, which was amazing! Definitely order the crab cake when you go! I got the Rhu Chicken for my entree and the husband got Shrimp & Grits. My chicken tasted really good. It was stuffed with a cream cheese mix, which was heavily. The cream cheese stuffing was better than the chicken! It also came with rice pilaf which was a bit tasteless & asparagus. The husband's entree was actually very good. If you don't like cheese, then don't get this entree. It was loaded with cheese, which I happen to LOVE! The grits tasted great and he said the shrimp was really good too (I didn't get to try them sadly.) Each entree also came with a house or Cesar salad. We both chose the house salad with their house vidalia onion vinaigrette dressing. The dressing was VERY oniony. I would just get ranch if I were you. We did chose a dessert. We got the Paddy Cake I wish we would have went with the coconut cake...don't get me wrong the paddy cake was good, but there was a lot going on there. And the drizzle was very rich. All in all I loved this place, and it has it's own parking lot, so you don't have to search far for parking.

Excellent food and customer service. We've been back a few times and continue to be impressed! The Ruben is delicious and I would strongly suggest it! The peanut butter cake is also yummy!!

Best. Desserts. In. Greenville. The desserts at this place are so ridiculously good. Their Sweet Potato Cake is legendary. Their Peanut Butter Chocolate cake is amazing. In fact, it's pretty much impossible to choose wrong. I don't write a lot of reviews, but when I did a search on Greenville desserts and didn't find Brick Street Cafe at the forefront of the list, I decided it was time to take action. If you have a sweet tooth, try this place out. Seriously.

This was the worst dining experience in over a decade. Rusty, our server, was unbelievably rude and inattentive. If I could, I would have fired him on the spot. We asked for coffee and it took so long we almost went to get it ourselves. Finally, when he served it, he overflowed the cups and spilled on the table and just wakked away without a word. The only time he tried to be polite was at tip time, which he did not get. Food is way overpriced for what you get and the horrible server negated anything that might have been positive. This once great place has fallen mightily and we will tell our friends as well. We will never return.

Great food with generous portions. We had the Shrimp and grits. Very tastey, others had steaks and the special which were also good. The thing I liked most was the great service we got. The wait staff was attentive and acomodating to our needs. The atmosphere was great for our party of 8, and again we had great service. The one takeback were the chairs. The seats were too small and uncomfortable. We will go back again for sure.

This place is truly awful. The ham and swiss looks like something you would pack a 2nd grader for lunch in a lunchbox. I ordered the ultimate grilled cheese on wheat over the kaiser. When it arrived it was basically cheese on bread. I sent it back to be grilled and 15 minutes later it came back as grilled but just with American cheese--not as described on the menu. I sent it back yet again and it was returned correctly, but burnt. It had maybe 4 teeny tiny pieces of bacon on it. It was pathetic. Really--not good at all. The place was busy and the service was slow. Waiter was running all over the place. Failed to bring napkins or silverware. Brought the wrong drinks. Still charged us for the sandwich. I don't know how they have good reviews. The table next to us just said this is the worst service they have ever experienced. Don't waste your time--plenty of good restaurants downtown to eat at this place.

We had our wedding reception here back in 2008 and have since moved from the area...but I can't wait to drive back down for our anniversary this fall! The food, the atmosphere, the people...Brick Street is a rarity these days. And of course, the sweet potato cake is amazing!

I went a year ago with my husband and wasn't impressed and decided to go today with my girlfriend and I'm still not impressed. First of all the food is over rated and over priced. There is nothing special about the flavors if the sandwiches. Nothing that sets them apart from any other deli. Their sandwiches can't even compare to Jason's deli. Their deserts is the only thing they got going for them. For five dollars you get a very large slice of cake. I have had the coconut and paddy cake and both were delicious. But the service was terrible. I had to ask the waitress to wait on us and she made us feel we were the least important table in the room.

I've eaten here about 6 or 7 times. It is definitely not my favorite. As a male, I am usually outnumbered about 200-1. I know, that would usually be great, but I'm married and its typically an older crowd. The food is good, its just not the style I usually pick if I'm by myself. The quiche is great as well as the tomato soup. The deserts are the high point! It is very loud in here, which kind of defeats the purpose of a business lunch, unless you are used to yelling at your clients:)

Normally we really like eating here. Plus they have the best cakes and pies anywhere! However, today, at lunch I ordered something I've never had there before, their ultimate grilled cheese sandwich. On a Sat. afternoon, the place was packed but it didn't take long to get our food. Whaaat?! My sandwich, instead of being on a kaiser roll, was on an open faced plain hamburger bun. And not even a decent hamburger bun, at that. By the time I realized it, the waiter was long gone. Since they were so busy, I shrugged and tried to eat it, since they were so slammed. Ugh, it tasted even worse than it looked, which was awful. When the young waiter came back around to check on us, and asked the obligatory, "How is everything", I asked him when they started using cheap hamburger buns on this particular sandwich. He looked puzzled and said it's always been on a kaiser roll. Yes, but this is on a cheap bun as you can see. Then he asks me if I liked it anyway. Whaaat? I said, no, it's terrible. He said sorry and left. I assumed someone would come by to "make it right." Didn't happen. The same young waiter came back later with the check. For the full amount. I'm upset both with myself, for not demanding they take it back and at the young man waiting on us, perhaps for not being trained in proper customer service. True, this was the only bad experience we've had here, but it's worth noting for the management's awareness.

5 star deserts! 3 star entrees. The sweet potato cake was as advertised - awesome. Chocolate cake and peanut butter pie equally as good. Two,of us did the buffet....good pork tenderloin & chicken...poor effort on shrimp & grits (pasty - thick)... Crab cakes were bland. Spaghetti with meat sauce entree was good as was grilled chicken salad. Waitress was very nice and attentive once they sorted out whose table we were. Would not go out of my way for the food, but would for the deserts.

I was just passing by, and wasn't hungry at all, but this place was recommended to me by multiple people, so I needed to give it a shot. The interior is bright and fun and crazy and looks so cozy. It's a theory of mine that the more eccentric a restaurant's interior, the better the food . . . and I am happy to say my theory continues to hold true! The tomato dill soup was lovely, and I had a special halibut entree that came with risotto and a asparagus with a cream sauce that was to die for. I ordered a piece of that sweet potato cake to take home, and It was so huge and so heavy and so delicious that I might now be a supporter of obesity. And, I think I saw a review that said the sweet potato cake was their wedding cake? That's going to be a successful marriage.

We drove to Greenville for a relaxing weekend and cruised the Main Street looking for a quick lunch bite upon arrival. What good fortune that we chose Brick Street Cafe! Of course, having nearby parking was in their favor considering how elusive parking is, especially to the newcomer to Greenville. First, the ambiance is eclectic and charming, with small 'rooms' set up along the sides. The real flowers on the tables were a nice touch. The staff was welcoming, and we were quickly approached by the waitstaff after we had chosen our table. My husband had the roast turkey sub that was heaped with turkey, and I went with the veggie burger which was a little bland but tasty with the spicey mustard. We each had the walnut cole slaw which was not too sweet. The portions are manageable but we unfortunately had no room for dessert!! The cakes on display looked SCRUMPTIOUS, and next time we're in Greenville, we'll have cake and coffee BEFORE ordering lunch!!

We were looking forward to the rehearsal dinner party for our son's wedding in the downstairs room at Brick Street last Saturday (June 7th) as we have had lunch and dinner there several times. Our waiter, Josh, was great and worked so hard, but for most of the evening he was the only waiter for 65 people. After ordering at 7 PM, most guests did not receive their entrees until 8:30, and a few strays didn't even receive theirs until others were were already done with dessert. It was highly embarrassing to us. We discovered there was another party of some type upstairs at the same time. If you don't have the kitchen staff or the wait staff to service these events, you should not offer them. The food was good, but as the hosts, it ruined the evening for us and we could not in good conscience recommend an event there. Pat B.

This is based solely on the sweet potato cake, as I've not eaten there. Its legit and worth indulging in, especially with out of town guests. But split a piece, they are huge and incredibly rich. . .you can practically taste the butter!

It looks small from the outside, but it's huge - but still cozy - inside. Food and service were great. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Wow, put in for reservations two weeks in advance for valentines evening. When we arrived they thought I said we had six in our party. Instead of telling me no way we can not sit six people, she quietly disappeared and came back with another hostess to politely see if they could figure out the issue. When she realized that it was still just a party of two, we were immediately taken to our table. As for the food it was excellent and didn't even have to think about it as I was concentrated on my valentine. Service was impeccable and quick. Salads were out fast and the food followed quickly. Dessert of peanut butter pie was to die for and she even brought out a free piece of carrot cake because my wife didn't tell her what she wanted. All in all, a very pleasant experience. We will be back!

Disgruntled former employees aside (see other review), I had a great meal here. The service was cheerful and friendly. Their food is Southern, but with modern touches. All our entrees were delicious, from the crab cakes, to the chicken...fried oysters and sweet potato fries to the salmon. Then the dessert, a HUGE piece of coconut cake, was moist and yummy. My only complaint is that I suspect they dress the caesar salad at the beginning of service, rather than to order, because the lettuce was a bit soggy. And I LOVE the atmosphere here! Old wooden floors, spacious table layout...I would call it old casual comfortable. Their hours are kind of funky, so check the website for their hours before you show up on a Tuesday night for dinner (you'll find it closed).

Absolutely fabulous crab cake sandwich. Large chunks of real crab, and a lot of it. The German chocolate cake is mouth watering.

Wow! Where to begin with the disaster of an evening we had at this establishment. First my group called two months prior to our date to reserve one of their side rooms. We were told,"ughhh, we do not book that far in advance, here is the email for the event person, but call back like a month before." So instead of just jotting our name down as a reference and then us calling back to confirm later, we email, and emailed, and EMAILED the given address. Finally exactly one month prior we called back stating we had never received any response from the email but still wished to book a side room. Where we were told "ohh sorry that email has been glitchy oh and we are all booked up." UMM REALLY!!! They are the ones who specifically told us to call a month ahead. So we did request to at least be sort of secluded due to exchanging bachelorette gifts, and the girl promised we would be. Once we arrived we were right in the front...beside a table of kids. We asked to be moved and the hostess did move us over to the other side of the front but we were alone, so that was better. It was quite slow for a Saturday night, so the following issues were completely uncalled for. ( as a server/ manager for the past 9 years I am very accommodating when it comes to issues...however, there were so many it was such a disappointment.) -Bar drinks were slow to arrive (around 10-15minutes at times throughout the dinner) -They were out of Friend Green Tomatoes, Ouzo, Togo Boxes, German Chocolate Cake ... basically anything we wanted. (ps. to management, as a restaurant manager you do know that you can go barter with other restaurants close by for togo boxes instead of giving your guest aluminum foil...quite embarrassing when your food prices are average of $18 ) -Appetizers were delivered without any silverware/ side plates for the table, Our server was NO WHERE to be found, So I got up and grabbed silverware for the table myself) - My water was left empty throughout most of the dinner - No new forks were brought out with dessert that we were obviously sharing - 6 of the 7 separate tabs came out incorrect. - The entire meal took us 3 hours!!! So overall, THIS WAS HORRID! And the automatic 20% gratuity for 6 or more is completely understandable when the service at least average. But for the service we received the expected 20% was not earned. Although the food was BEYOND AMAZING, there is a completely lack in server training and management. Crab cakes, Brie cheese, salmon, and pork chops were delicious so I do compliment the kitchen staff here!

Deliciousness! Get the Andy's Tuna Melt and save room for dessert. Quaint little restaurant.

My husband and I loved the look and the menu but the service was terrible. After long wait, a waiter came and took our drink orders but said he didn't know where our waiter had disappeared to! Another long wait for our waiter to show up. The steak salad was awful. Tiny slices of beef that were room temperature, dry, chewy and tasteless. A huge pile of unidentifiable greens, 3 grapes, 2 grape tomatoes, 1 strawberry and half a slice of orange. Also, one glass of house wine was $8.

My new favorite restaurant EVER! Staff is unbelievablely accomodating! Had a simple grilled cheese sandwich (best ever--sorry mom) with tomato dill soup and tried someone else's "love muffin". OH MY!!

  • Monique C.

I definitely enjoyed my meal at this cafe. It's decorated uniquely and has a "homey" feel to it that is felt the moment you walk in the door. I had BBQ served on a kaiser roll and pasta salad. The kaiser roll went well with the BBQ and the pasta salad is really good! I ate it all! I read reviews prior to coming and after reading so many positive reviews about the love muffin, I couldn't resist trying it. It is by far the best muffin I've ever tasted!! The service is great as the waitress was very friendly and made sure I received excellent service. My food arrived within minutes of ordering. I am very impressed and will certainly be going back to this awesome restaurant!

This place is a southern charm! If your in the area you need to stop by. The food, people and the inside are amazing. Make sure you try a piece of cake or pie before you leave, its like heaven, I will return again when I'm back in SC!

The sweet potato pie cake is to die for! I was worried that the cake frosting ratio was off, but the cake is so moist and rich that it doesn't need a lot of frosting. Definitely my new favorite dessert. My husband got the paddy cake- a chocolate 4 layer cake with walnut cream cheese frosting and raspberry sauce. He loved it. I would highly recommend Brick Street Cafe for dessert.

I've attended a few showers here and it's a really great place to have one. The food/selection are great and they put you in this cute little room w/ plenty of room for decor/set up and wall decorated with big hats. The Love Muffin is one of their signature items so make sure to try it.

Disappointed! Through the "Attractions" Coupon Book, one of the featured restaurants was Brick Street Cafe, $10 off a dinner entree. I never thought of this place as a dinner place, but I figured I would like to try it out and use my coupon. Unfortunately, they now have a policy that they do not accept any coupons and that there was a mistake made. Which translates to me as a former employee overreached their authority level in approving the coupon or they think they are losing too much money. Any way - I was denied the coupon when ordering and not wanting to make my wife feel unconformable continued with the meal. The service was very slow and disorganized. They kept apologizing due to it being busy. An hour after ordering our entree's we were served dried Salmon with a few pieces of corn on it (they referred to it as corn salsa). I will not be going back.

"Hi, I just wanted to make sure you're open. I came all the way from New Jersey for cake." - My cousin D.M. I was in Greenville for my family reunion, and my cousin (not the one quoted above) told a bunch of us about how good the cake was at Brick Street Cafe. The next day, we decided to venture downtown to sample said cake. The Cafe was actually closed (they close mid-day, and reopen for dinner), but we called ahead to ensure that we'd be able to stop in and purchase a few slices of cake. Once we were assured they'd be open, we headed downtown. The staff was really nice - they even let us sample a slice of cake to help us decide on what we wanted. Between the four of us, we got a few slices of peanut butter cake, and a slice of pineapple and one of sweet potato cake. The slices were huge - so big, in fact, that it took us two days to finish everything. Another biggie - each huge slice of cake was like $3.00...you aren't going to find that anywhere up here. This is the cutest little cafe! The decor is eclectic, but still full of southern charm. So yeah, I have no idea when I'll be back in Greenville, but when I do get back, I'll be sure to stop by Brick Street Cafe for more cake!

Everything from soup to salad to sandwiches to desserts are incredible! Fun, friendly atmosphere. Great place for a bridal luncheon, women's tea, or just a fun lunch date. Haven't been for dinner, but several times for lunch have all been outstanding!

The people at Brick Street are so warm and friendly I already can't wait to go back. I ordered a cake a few days ago and wasn't going to be able to pick it up until after closing time, so they were kind enough to make special arrangements for me. The adorable owner, Sara, has a music shop next door (Stella's) where they had my cake waiting for me. She even let me take it home without paying, trusting I would return sometime soon. Of course I have been back and have paid for the fabulous sweet potato cake with cream cheese icing (you must try it if you haven't already), and now I am one of Brick Street's biggest fans.
