The best place ever in this area. Been coming since 1993. I always order the philly cheese steak plate. And it is delicious. I recommend this place for anyone in this area.

Iama Critic Rating - Big Clock of Berea - 2 Stars 7000 White Horse Road, Greenville, SC Our Experience: We went to Big Clock of Berea on a whim so we were not expecting much, and that is exactly what we got. However, other reviewers have given five stars and mentioned the good prices. Sure, we agree that Big Clock is a value oriented restaurant. But our experience was not even close to satisfying to say the least. And frankly we would rather suffer at Cook Out. But that is not necessary as there are plenty of places nearby like Gus's Streetside Café and K&S Restaurant with much better food and the same good prices. What we experienced was extremely bland entrees, boring sides and management that argued with us when we mentioned our obviously burnt entree. When a restaurant will argue with food critics they know they are there for the purpose of a review, you have bigger problems than the food. The Service - 2 Stars (8% tip) Our waitress was attentive, but was not social and was particularly unhelpful. For her effort we left an 8% $2.50 tip. At value restaurants we typically provide 25% or more for 5 star service on the pre-tax portion of the bill, 22% for 4, 20% for 3, 17% for 2 and 0% for 1 star service. The Food: $1.10 Onion Rings Optional Side - 2 Stars This 50/50 fry - onion rings basket is a dollar upcharge replacement for Big Clock's awful and boring fries. Sadly the onion rings were crumbly, dry and painfully bland. With fabulous seasoned fries and onions rings all over town, do yourself a favor and exchange all your fries and onions rings, or suffer the consequences. $8.99 Gyro Platter - 2 Stars In Chicago gyro platters come on two plates. One plate has your gyro meat and toppings, with enough gyro meat to make TWO gyros; the second plate holds your pitas, sides and sauce. This gyro platter is nothing more than a small gyro sandwich with a tiny Greek salad and coleslaw all on one ordinary plate and a small basket of fries. The coleslaw was great, the salad was good, but puny, and the gyro... it was just like most of the gyros in the Upstate. It was terrible! It was composed of two super thin slivers of purchased Kronos style meat with a sort of salad mix. Is there anyone in Greenville that knows how to make a REAL gyro? $5.79 Reuben on Rye - 3 Stars This sandwich was served with Swiss cheese and sauerkraut. This sandwich was just a tad soggy, but it was still pretty good. I am no lover of the reuben but this one was about average. This is the only item I had that I would order again. $8.49 Smothered Grilled Pork Chops - 2 Stars The menu says, "8oz pork chop smothered in grilled onions, peppers and tomatoes, with fries, peppers, coleslaw and bread." An single eight ounce chop sounds great, but what the menu means is two, super thin sliced, 1/4" think, if you are lucky, pork chops like you used to get in the high school cafeteria. I had my awful pork chops served with a microscopic salad instead of fries. The grilled onion, tomatoes and onions were fair, and the toast was perfect. But when you order pork chops you actually expect to receive something you would likely buy at the grocery store, not something that resembles thick cut lunchmeat with a bone. $7.99 Salmon Patties - 1 Star Served with salad, coleslaw, fries and bread. As mentioned before the fries are terrible, the coleslaw is great, the bread is perfect. However, the salmon patties, which are the whole purpose for this entree, were burnt to oblivion, crusty and dry. These MINI, and I mean small, patties might as well have been hockey pucks. Long ago we would have just reviewed the patties as they were served, but a year ago we decided to start giving restaurants the opportunity to "fix" errors. However Big Clock's management took the opportunity to tell us that there was nothing wrong with the salmon patties and that they are supposed to be served "dark brown". Chef Iama Critic has been a chef for decades. He has personally cooked for tens of thousands of people. He was a restaurant critic in Chicago for many years and he has reviewed hundreds of local Upstate restaurants. Chef Iama Critic knows the difference between salmon patties and dog biscuits, which is exactly where these "dark brown salmon patties" went, to his dog, who devoured these tiny burnt pucks in two seconds. But then whippets are not known for discerning palates. Total Bill: $32.06 for two adults, including tax a tip and two soda fountain drinks. We Limit the Publishing of Our Negative Reviews: Chef Iama Critic posts positive reviews on ALL of his review websites, but he posts negative reviews only on Yelp and Facebook. The only time he ever publishes negative reviews on all of his websites, is when a restaurant chooses to post public rebuttals instead of contacting Chef Iama Critic privately.

CHEAP. DELICIOUS. AND HOMEY. Totally enjoyed on how cheap the food was. Definitely very SOUTHERN food and it brought such comfort - this is how southern food is and should always be ... Now, with that being said, you may get a clogged artery not soon after, but it is just worth it. So delicious and it felt like granny's food. LOVED IT. I suggest the chicken fried steak w gravy, mashed potatoes w gravy and fried green tomatoes. Omg Im getting hungry just thinking about it again... nommmm.....

Took the LW out for dinner and stopped at this diner. I for one was not impressed at this restaurant. Their food cost must be enormous. I did like the fries.

Ate a late lunch today. Usually I enjoy their meat and three options. Went with the hamburger steak, Mac and cheese, cabbage, and mashed potatoes. Not only was the food terrible but my tea glass sat empty for most of the meal and nobody was out to refill it. I was one of two people in the restaurant. I didn't know it was possible to make onions mushy but the ones on my steak couldn't be chewed because they felt like hey had already been chewed. Doubtful if I will ever come back.
