Not really German is my verdict. The Schnitzel our kids had were OK, the Jägerschnitzel my wife had not really a Jägerschnitzel and the Rouladen I had were not good at all. Stay away from their fries (handcut but greasy as hell) But let me back off. I heard good things about it before we went and I had some of their food on one of the events of the German community, which led me to believe it will be great to go. Because I had their Leberkäs before and Rouladen are my absolute favorite dish I had to try them They were not tender and the Bacon was not nice to eat. The Spätzle and the Rotkohl were good though. Good: the location is nice and it is easy to reach. We did not try the desserts or beer or bread. So not verdict on this.

Interesting food for almost any meal, breakfast lunch or dinner. But don't come here with a big group, their service will probably not make you a hero.

Rude hostess. We barely got in the door at 8:50 when both the sign and Yelp say 10:00 on Fridays. Immediately we were greeted with "well we were ABOUT to be closed..." in a very off putting tone. I wish I could comment on how the food was. An hour and ten minutes prior to close is well outside of the range of "inconsiderate".

I love the new location. The food is outstanding. the service is great. This is going to be a regular hangout for me now. I find the fare to be lighter (in a good way) than many of the other places in the area. It is still filling, but I don't feel 5 pounds lighter when I leave. Oh, by the way, the bakery is incredible. Treat yourself. There are few better in the area! Very affordable too.

Food was nothing spectacular. Management must be non-existent. They sat me at the bar. at the bar was a highly drunk individual with teeth like a hobbit and a voice like Carl from Slingblade. Carl was obnoxious and was trying to pick up the poor woman sitting on the other side of me. Very uncomfortable experience. I would not come back here if the food was free.

I love the new location; it is soooo much easier to negotiate than Woodruff Rd. (a.k.a. the highway to hell.) And the building has been made attractive with a sun patio, recessed and track lighting, and the natural grain wood furniture, which looks suspiciously like their old benches. There is so much more seating room now, which is good, so you can bring your family and not have to share a bench with strangers. (That's a German thing, and I never got used to it.) Any honest review of this place is a study in ambivalence. What they do well, they do very well--the cooking, baking, and friendly help. The good: the food is tasty. They do a nice job on the menu items, whether it's breakfast cold cuts, white wursts, or dinner entrées. I'm happy that coffee refills are free now. However, where they really shine is the baked goods; they offer many good artisan breads, rolls, pretzels, but their pastries and cakes are to die for--apfelstrudel, bienenstich, apfelstreusel, schwarzwaldtorte, a berry cream cake, a cheesecake with mandarin oranges on it, on an on. All of them are delicately understated and not overly sweet. I am happy to return here to eat over and over. And the seasonal Christmas items like their Christmas Stollen are DIVINE. It is only with a little shame that I admit the Christmas Stollen I bought for guests I ended up eating by myself in 24 hours--I couldn't stop. If you have a chance to try the Sunday Brunch buffet, I recommend it. It costs around $17 per person, but you can have as much as you like--custom omelets made while you wait, sausage and sauerkraut, a vegetable medley made with pungent fresh herbs, seasoned chicken and dumplings, amazing German pastries, roast something, and more. Wow. The servers are helpful and friendly. They are training new people, so they may forget that you are supposed to get a pretzel with your meal, and then you have to flag them down to get mustard for it. But they are nice, and it's worth being patient with them. The bad: the slow service, sometimes. I believe they are better now at the new location than they were at the old place, but they still seem to be disorganized or something. My advice is just to be patient with them. It is a European atmosphere, and Europeans don't like to be rushed when they eat. Prepare yourself mentally that you'll spend at least an hour in there. It helps if you bring someone with you to talk to while you're waiting for your food. The food is worth it.

A classy place with slow service and bland food. I am not sure about authenticity but I care only about taste. Pros: -Desserts are really good - perfect sweetness level. -Place is very classy. -Cheese platter is really good (although there isn't much cooking involved, you can just buy different cheeses and serve yourself the same dish at home for a lesser cost) -Sausages are usually good Cons: -At times food is half cooked - potatoes for example. -Pretzels are so salty it becomes almost impossible to finish one. -Coffee is good but too cold -Service is ultra slow. Verdict: For the amount of money you pay, you can get much better at other places.

I've been here 4 times -once in the old location and the times here. The new location is beautiful. It's roomy and comfy. What I like: The food! It's tasty, not a bad value, and a large variety is offered. I love the hot mustard! The bakery is great. You can find lots of European snacks and food too. What I don't like: The wait. This is ridiculous. The wait to get a table us usually long, which seems to be directly connected to the service. The last two times we ate there, we had the same server. He kept blaming other people for every slow item. "Our bar is SO SLOW tonight!" "The kitchen is really behind." And the last time we went, we waited for over an hour after we ordered to get our food. The pretzels came out 1 minute before our food did. I've lived in Europe. I know what it means to have a relaxed meal. This was NOT THAT! This was either bad service or a badly organized kitchen. My guess is the latter, based on the fact that other people have commented on slow service as well. The bottom line: We went be going back for a long time. It's just not worth it. We can get tasty food elsewhere. Maybe in a few months we will try again, but if it's slow, that we'll be the very last time.

The location is very nice but the service was terrible. I ordered a Jägerschnitzel and was totally disappointed, I am German and this Schnitzel was not what I expected! The meat itself had a good taste but the gravy tasted like canned cream of mushrooms

Disappointed. Pretzels were cold. Salad, well it's a salad. Schnizel was too thin and over fried. Spatzel was soggy and cold. Mushroom gravy was cold. Won't go back

There's a lot to like and dislike about this place. Pro's ... - Easy access and parking from Haywood road. - Considerable inside and outside seating. - Very friendly service staff. - Extensive menu to satisfy any taste. - Superb baked goods! Best soft pretzel I've ever eaten. Excellent variety of fresh wursts (take home) and baked goods. - Best pastrami I've had in a long time. Con's: - Very long wait for a sandwich and potato salad. We were only customers @ 1:00 for lunch. - Beer not brought with dinner as requested. - Too pricey .. 1 beer + 1 Fanta + 1 dinner entree + 1 lunch sandwich = $40 with tip. - Sampled two Greman beers (pale & wheat). Both were too sweet. and not cold enough. Overall, there's a problem with front of the house operations. Clearly this place's strengths are in the quality and freshness from the back of the house but the excessive wait time for food and failure to bring food and drink at the same time indicate problems with the front of the house. I'm also not a big fan of service staff with multiple (multiple times 2) face, nose and ear piercings but that is a personal preference. Perhaps they were having aa bad day but as we were hoping for a really good German restaurant, we find this place both hits and misses the mark. Will probably give them one more shot again in the future, just to be fair.

I was really looking forward to eating at this place! Good reviews, cant go wrong right? Not... :( I came in for lunch, ordered a mixed sausage plate with some spaatzle and a side of sauerkraut. - I think it took 15-20 minutes to come out when there was hardly any other people there. Adding insult to injury though, my freeking spaatzle was not only cold, but also soggy - I'm no pro, but I've made much better at home. -The sausage were decent, but I can't really give them credit for that since all they do is warm it up and someone else actually made it. -They took 10 minutes to bring out any mustard... like, are you kidding me? It should have been on the plate when it was brought out if anything... Meanwhile I'm 2/3 done with my meal - I was hungry when I arrived but famished by the time I finally got my food. -There were three old ladies next to me who were upset as well, they had ordered a half/pound of potatoes 30 minutes ago and still hadn't received them till they asked about them when they were leaving and they still weren't even ready yet. -The two girls who were working the tables never came out to ask me how my meal was and when I walked up to the counter (since they never brought me my bill) I mentioned to them my sub-par experience but I was even more surprised they didn't even offer to not charge me for the food. I hardly ever give 1 stars, and maybe they were off their game today...but it is definitely warranted.

We bought the worst Kaese-Sahne Torte from their bakery which had nothing in common with the cake they sold in the past. The crust was hard with some weird filling. I don't even think a real baker made that cake. They should have told us that they don't know how to make it anymore when we ordered it. Wasted $ 36.00.....

Went here for my father-in-law's birthday and had a great experience. Had an early lunch and absolutely loved the warm pretzels we got while we waited for our meal. Spaetzle, schnitzel, goulash and rouladen were all delicious! Also, if you're looking for traditional German pastries that aren't super sweet (like American desserts) they have a great selection.

The location is nice. The bakery looked good. Based on a yelp review I thought they had a brunch buffet. Nope. No one heard of that offering at the check in desk. We had a 130 reservation. Nope. They were waiting on the people to leave our table. We left for somewhere else at 2.

Great location, warm atmosphere, and it looks like no big deal for large groups. The food is great and the staff is friendly and accommodating. This is the best German food I've ever had, and I look forward to coming again soon, and maybe trying the breakfast.

Decent food...sorta. Unfortunately, the service was way too slow to go to for lunch. It took an hour and a half from the time we sat down before lunch rush until we got out. The kicker to the slow service was the over done pretzel. If you have something in the name of your restaurant, make sure you do it well!

Went for lunch, horrible service. Pretzel was cold, beer was good. Probably wont go back. Deli Korner in Spartanburg, SC more authentic and way better food.

Super authentic German food! Try the spaetzle it's just like Switzerland or Germany! A must for anyone who likes this type of food. Portions are huge!

First time there, food at lunch was tasty. I do want to try them for breakfast on a weekend. Do not expect to be in and out in anything resembling a hurry. I went at 1:30ish and it took 15 - 20 mins to receive my meal. It then took a while to get my server to come back after I was done in order to ask for a box and check. Only a handful of tables had people at them. Decor is nice. Hopefully they will work out the service issue.

The new location is great! Fun atmosphere, nice bar area, outdoor seating. The food was wonderful and everything on the menu sounded delicious. Service was good. Really enjoyed my meal and will go back.

Food was delicious. Enjoyed the pretzels and specialty mustards. A nice change from regular bread. Loved that they had some authentic European sodas. Our server needs training. She didn't know what I meant when I ordered "Weinerschnitzel". I had to check the menu again, and say, "Schnitzel Vienna Style". If you're serving in a German restaurant, I just figure you should know that. She also came to our table at least 5 times asking if we needed anything. It was too much, and made us feel rushed. In a true European restaurant, one should never feel rushed. Especially when the restaurant is not full. I would have given 5-stars if our sever had been better. We'll be back again. Just can't stay away from good German food.

Walked in the place. Nice looking inside. First off, after being seated it took over five minutes before someone showed up to take our drink order. 10 minutes later, she finally took our order. I ordered a cordon blue and the wife ordered a sausage and some German potato salad. Pretzels came out to the table hard and cold. My salad came out and looked like it had been prepped at breakfast time. The tomatoes were wrinkled, the cucumbers were dried out and the ranch dressing had formed a skin on top of it. I had drank all of my water and had to wait until my dinner came before I could ask for more. When the dinner came out, my dinner was complete, but my wife only had a plate of German potato salad. The waitress said that something had happened to the computer and her dinner would be ready in three minutes. I had finished my meal before my wife's sausage finally arrived to the table. When I asked for water, they brought me a pitcher of water with no ice in it at all and filled my glass. Needless to say it melted the remaining ice in the glass almost instantly. While I waited on my wife to eat her meal, I noticed 5 of the servers in the corner cutting up and laughing instead of taking care of the few customers that were there. Long story short....... The food I was willing to eat tasted good, the service SUCKS ! Anyplace that has good food will never overcome bad service. I don't think that we will go back.
