I enjoyed it very much. Food was good and the service was great. Good variety and large portions. Big desserts too. Definitely worth the 5 miles off I-95 to eat here as opposed to the chains off I-95.

I just gained about 7 pounds in under 75 minutes at the Starfire!!! The broccoli cornbread! The souvlaki! The meatloaf! Oh My!!! We found this family owned gem on Yelp as we were driving to Florida. I cannot wait to drive back and stop here. I already know what I am going to have. The Louisiana Chicken and the Greek Quesadilla! Typically, i eat low fat, low salt, fresh organic but will suspend my better judgement for good cooking. Lane Bryant here I come!!!

I went here on a Saturday during lunch. They have an enormous menu which can be a little overwhelming for an indecisive person like me but I certainly couldn't complain about a lack of choice. I ended up ordering one of their salad lunch specials. The food was good, portions were pretty big and the service was friendly. I think perhaps the hostess was in a foul mood when we got there because she wasn't exactly peachy but our waitress was extremely nice. I would come back here again but for now I'm giving it only 3 stars because the salad was a fairly standard salad. It didn't exactly wow me.

Service is always good no matter who you get. Food is also good but not worth the price. The menu is also extremely expansive. Desserts are incredible but also pricy. Better for a dessert date instead of the finale to the meal.

I always get the greek marinated chicken breast that includes french fries and a marinated salad with feta cheese. I crave this meal. Their french fries are amazing, you can't just eat one and be done. It can get pretty busy at time and it isn't open on Mondays. Oh, and it is a little pricey too, but not too bad for the amount and quality of food you get.

    1. Ginormous menu. They have American, Greek, Asian, Italtian, and Southern cuisine. Amazing choices. They definately have something for everyone. 2. When you walk in, you're not only greeted by the hostess, but also a wall full of desserts. Again, huge variety. 3. Our service was fine. Not sucky, not over-the-top. 4. When we finally decided what to order, our entrees came in a timely manner and were delicious. 5. As previously stated by other reviewers, the portions are HUGE. You get your money's worth, that's for sure.

We have eaten there twice. Each time was wonderful. Great food. Extensive items from which to choose. Unobtrusive attentive service. By far one of Florence's finest.

Off the beaten path. By the image of the sign out front I thought the atmosphere would be a little cooler. It reminded me of a a Ruby Tuesday. My Husband and I try to find interesting places to eat on our travels The appearance was clean but to mainstream for our taste. The Kudos goes to food and service. We were very satisfied with all of our choices. The menu read a bit like a diner. It went on forever. He got the meatloaf and I stuck with the Greek fare which seemed to be the specialty of the house. Our server Stephanie was efficient and friendly.

The Polynesian Chicken and the Greek fries are always winners and are consistent every time we order it. A few weeks ago they had the fried pork chops special for dinner and it was excellent. I'm always weary about bordering anything fried as most places tend to overcook it, but it was just perfect. A little disappointed with the crab cake portions as my main entre, the side of fried grits with cheese on top was 3x larger than the single lonely crab cake that appeared on my plate. At first glance I thought fried grits was the crab cake and vice versa. Then the server lowered it onto the table and then the smile on my face went away. The flavor was good however on both the grits and crab cake. One of the better restaurants in Florence. We ate here a couple of times these last few weeks and have always experienced great customer service. The atmosphere is great and the place is always neat and clean. We love the local art displayed on the walls. Would come back again here.

I would first like to say this is an American Mediterranean restaurant, certainly not American traditional. It has a huge variety of Mediterranean dishes and starters. Now I'll go on with my review. We ordered "a taste of Greece" and substituted souvlaki skewer with gyro meat(we don't eat pork) ... The staff was very accommodating and made any adjustments we requested. We loved every single item in that dish. Pros - great quality food 5 stars: This place is a blessing in florence. It's a feast for the taste buds, FLAVORFUL! The food quality is never compromised on. - Ambience 5 stars: conveniently located close to mall, this restaurant offers a comfortable environment, great for families... It's not fining dining but it definitely one of the nicer restaurants for the price of food you r paying. In summary a beautiful cozy restaurant that only attracts a decent crowd. - cost is not bad, you r getting good quality food with a great service in this small town, I give it 5 stars - desserts 5 stars: huge variety and flavors just burst in your mouth. Definitely try the pineapple coconut cake Cons - limited hours: closed on Saturday - Monday. Looks like they just extended their hours for the remaining days of the week to 9:00pm. Great!!! I can now plan an occasional dinner on Friday nights at least. - they don't compromise on quality, and they really take their time. We went for a late lunch after 12:50pm. We returned to work at 2:50pm. This place is just busy, which is understandable, it is the best good quality affordable food in town period. But I don't have that level of patience when I am under the clock. Destroys the whole experience, I would like it to be stress free. This is the only reason I didn't give the place 5 stars.

Love this place! A very extensive variety menu. Any pallet can be satisfied here. The owners change the menu 2-3 times a year and amazingly come up with the most original and delicious choices. One staple that is BEST ANYWHERE I have ever been are there onion rings! Wow! It's so hard to resist these each time. The Mediterranean grilled chicken salad is fabulous, and for something a little heavier that I like is there spaghetti. The Louisiana Chicken is another of our family favorites! If you have a family with many different taste...this is your best choice! Each dish is always prepared to perfection. The servers are friendly and are eager to take care of us. You'll be glad you tried this place! Oh and prices are quite reasonable. Warning, if you walk by the dessert bar, you will be hooked!

My in-laws introduced me to Starfire when I lived in Florence, and even though I no longer live there, the food is still delicious. The menu is huge and includes everything from Southern food to American to Greek food. If you're a vegetarian, there are tons of side options and salads that you can magically craft into a meal, so don't despair. I went to visit this weekend and went to Starfire with a friend. We both had salads, and they bring out biscuits that are absolutely delicious! They bring you whipped butter for them and between the two of us, we ate 5 biscuits. The portions here are huge, so be prepared to share or take home leftovers. Really, almost anything you order, aside from a small salad, is going to be two meals. The desserts are also to die for, they're in a case at the front to tempt you! Desserts are pricey but worth it if you have a table to share with, the cookies are really good and come cold so you could take them home for later.

Came here with my husband when we lived in Florence. I wasn't too hungry so I just ordered pita bread with tzatziki sauce. The pita was store bought, the kind you find in the bread aisle and was cold! They didn't even bother warming it up. Turned me off right away because that's some common sense stuff right there and we never bothered giving them another shot. Which is a shame because our waitress who was from Myrtle Beach was an absolute sweetheart.

Delicious, great service, lots of food for the price. We had the complimentary biscuits. Then we devoured the chicken kabob, rice, veggies cooked in olive oil, and broccoli cornbread. Everything great. Husband had the greek sampler which we should have shared but we were on vaca so we pigged out. Ended with the most delicious coconut icecream I have ever had. Wish I had tried a chocolate dessert or a cake. No room. Menu is very large and I would love to try something else if I ever get back to Florence.

Had the Louisiana chicken. It was disgusting and I couldn't finish it. Waitress asked if I liked it and I said no. She didn't offer to comp it. It was also chilly outside but they had the ceiling fans running full speed so it was cold inside. Clueless staff and bad food.

We never would have found this place without Yelp! Heading back north at the end of our spring break and probably would've ended up at McDonalds. Biscuits were crispy on the outside, soft and warm in the outside! Southern Mac & Cheese, Gyro Flatbread, Chili and the Hamburger Steak were all hot when served at the same time and delicious!! Will definitely note this for a return trip.

Every single time I am in Florence I come to Starfire. I will even pass up Redbone Alley in favor of Starfire. I love this mom-and-pop, totally classy, delicious "Gree-Merc-So-Fusion" (Greek-American-Southern-Fusion, obviously, work with me here people.) There's a whole list of greek items on an otherwise american/southern menu. And the menu is marginally overwhelming - I don't think I've ever ventured beyond the second page because there are just too many choices. I've had the Greek salad, the gyro, BBQ ribs, a few different chicken dishes... No matter what time of the year, or time of the day, the high quality of food and presentation never disappoints, and I always receive consistently up-beat and prompt service (even when the accents are a little thick, y'all.) P.S. A candy bar on the way out? Yes, please!

There is a reason I have waited almost 3 years before writing a review of this place. Every single time I leave I have different opinion. Some nights this place is a 3 and other nights they are bordering on getting a five. I have eaten at this place many times since coming to Florence and most recently last week. Starfire is one of the few decent local restaurants in Florence. The have a staggering amount of items on their menu and I think this is one reason the quality of their food varies so much from night to night. I can't imagine being a chef in a kitchen with a menu this big. If you have never been before you may end up spending 10-15 minutes just perusing their menu before you decide what you want. They also change their menu quite a bit which is good since most locally owned restaurants in Florence are afraid to do so. Since the menu is so vast here are a few quick tips in regards to each portion of the menu: Appetizers: Their dips are probably the strong point in this category. I also enjoy their Bleu Cheese Sticks. Their Starfire Rings, "Bang Bang" Shrimp, Chicken Tenders are just ok. Unless I had a huge group of people I would avoid ordering appetizers anyway since their entrees are huge. Most of their appetizers aren't worthwhile though. Salads: They have a very large selection of salads to choose from. I don't eat salad but have tasted a lot of their homemade dressings which are good. Hamburgers/Sandwiches: These are mostly adequate but nothing special. I have had the Signature Burger, Uptown Burger, and Crab Cake Sandwich. I never ordered any of them again because they just weren't that impressive. I am not a big fan of their buns so this is probably the main hesitation I have in recommending these items Asian Dinners: Starfire should really drop these from their menu since they aren't very good. Avoid this section at all costs. Pasta: Ho-Hum menu items here. None of these dishes is particularly strong. Pasta Davinci and Pasta Primavera are very average. Head to Stefano's if you are having an Italian craving. The kids tend to like the spaghetti. House Specialties/Other: Some of my favorites include the New Orleans Chicken and Shrimp, Louisiana Chicken, Buttermilk Fried Chicken Breast, and Southern Fried Tilapia. Starfire does seafood well. Their fried squash as a side is also pretty good. Their Greek Entrees are also pretty good. Their entrees are HUGE so you will have enough for another meal the next day too. The ambience is nice and service is usually pretty strong. They probably rate at around a 3.5 but since I have never had a truly negative experience here I am giving them a four. Definitely worth visiting if you are visiting the FLO.

Large menu which can be difficult to decided from, but the food and price overall has always been right! Love it and since moving to Florence 6 months ago it has become one of mine and my wife's favorite places

This is one of the places I always go to when I'm in and around the FLO. It's a step up from the normal Outback/Chili's/TGIF chains. The menu is massive (leaning towards Greek and Italian fare) and portions are on the big/huge side. For bacon lovers out there (and I know there's a lot more of us nowadays) order a house salad with your entree...it comes with TONS of chopped bacon AND if you get it with the bacon honey mustard dressing...heaven. Service has always been good, with a requisite helping of southern hospitality. Beware though it can get busy on popular nights for dinner so show up early. Oh and they're closed Sunday and Monday, a fact that has tripped us up multiple times. To quote Rachel Ray, yum-o!

Starfire is one of the great local family owned restaurants in Florence. They have a large menu with a wide variety of foods to choose from. Everyone in your party will be happy. They also have fresh baked good, and a very creative martini list. It is a busy place with a great family atmosphere.

Whenever we drive to Florence we eat here! One of our favorite restaurants in the area. The Chicken Salad Sandwich is wonderful, but way huge so share with a friend :) My kids love to pick out a big cookie from the bakery counter after their meal.

Always have been treated very well at Starfire. I love that you can get a martini in a diner. Favorites- the skewers of chicken with 4 choices of cooking sauces. Love the apple pie with ice cream and caramel sauce - share it!

Our foray to find a great place to dine on the way to Florida was answered by Starfire Grill! It was clean and the food was very tasty with decent portions. Two of us chose Greek food which was as good as any we have had and the Greek salad was authentic - the small salad was the size of a serving bowl filled with crispy cucumbers, greens, with a slab of feta cheese. The Souvlaki was made from pork and was delicious. My daughter had the fried chicken salad- everyone loved the chicken on top of fresh greens. Our friendly waitress knew the menu well and offered suggestions as well as delivering a basket full of freshly baked biscuits shortly after we were seated. At the end of the meal she recommended the banana cheesecake with pralines. We split it 3 ways and everyone enjoyed the creamy, light flavor of the bananas with the crunch of the pecans. Coffee and fresh iced tea were also good and fresh! My husband ordered a glass of wine which would have been the size of 2 glasses anywhere else. The house red was flavorful and not just some inexpensive 3 buck chuck stuff! Give this place a try for a nicely cooked meal that isn't in a chain but has an extensive diner type menu. They have a case in the front of the restaurant with carry out items available so the locals must be enjoying this food too.

By far one of the best places to eat in Florence. I had the polynesian chicken and my husband had the crab cakes. We both had two bloody mary's which were excellent. Cost came to about $50 and servie was great. I will be back.

The American, Southern, and diner fare are passable, but the Greek specialties are about the best food in Florence (though there isn't much competition). Sort of an upscale diner atmosphere. Worth a visit for the Greek dishes.

This place is a perfect example of what is wrong with dining out in Florence. We heard good things about this restaurant so my wife and I decided to go. We're new to Florence and want to find a decent restaurant that we could enjoy. This is not that place. We were met at the door by two tweens who I suppose were the hosts. They both seemed a little frazzled and inexperienced. One of the girls, when she took guests back to their tables, held the rolled silverware up to her body, probably because her baby hands couldn't grasp more than one at a time. This was disconcerting to me because I was worried that the little girl may have had some spit up on her Justice blouse. One of the young ladies was blatantly texting right in front of us. The wait seemed a little long, but I wasn't falling asleep or anything. Our server was sweet and fairly punctual. Our drinks were kept full and our food came out pretty quickly. Most of the wait staff seemed to be on top of their game. The menu is...bizarre. A mixture of Southern fare and Greek classics. Weird. Really, really weird. It's like the owner's Greek Yia-Yia was going to write him out of the will if he he didn't put some baba ganoush and gyros on the menu. My wife and I both went for the Southern side of things, because buying Greek food at a Southern restaurant in South Carolina seemed a little too risky. The French fries came very highly recommended and they really were fantastic. They were obviously freshly made in the restaurant. They were super crispy on the outside and almost fluffy on the inside. Probably some of the best fries I've ever had. The portions were enormous, which is kind of the schtick of Florence eateries. I got the pork chops with mashed potatoes and fried okra. All pretty delicious. The pork chops were breaded and fried which was somewhat shocking since I didn't remember reading that on the menu. The potatoes were full of butter and cheese and cream and probably lard and oil and a whole lot of other stuff. They were, obviously, delicious, but I felt like my blood had turned to jelly afterward. My wife ordered the grilled cheese which was supposed to have multiple cheeses on it. It did, but it also had a lot of cream cheese. It was dripping. It was so gooey. It was disgusting. We probably won't go back unless we have suddenly a craving for hummus and cheese grits.

I always come here when other employees visit my accounts with me. Most of my co workers haven't tried fried squash. I frequently order for them to try. My visitors always like. Greek salad excellent. Loved the fine crushed ice. The one thing I hate is the strong odor of Pine Sol type cleaner. It almost takes your breath away when you first walk in. It seems to not bother me after sitting awhile.

Still some of the healthiest food in town, but the hours and days of operations have changed. Closed Saturday and Sundays. Open Monday's until 3:00 PM. What a great way to start the week; lunch at Starfire. Tuesdays only open for lunch, until 3 PM.

  • Kevin T.

This place is a huge hit and miss. Some nights the food is outstanding and others its crap. Menu is too big and I think that's where they run into a lot of their quality problems. They need to focus on what they can ace all the time and limit their menu to those items only. They have a great desert selection that you can look over while waiting to be seated. Their deserts are by far the best thing on the menu so save some room. The restaurant is nicely decorated and clean. Service is good. You will see a lot of families in there so bring the kids. I would say this is a decent date restaurant.

Best Food in Florence. Expansive menu and awesome desserts. Prices are a little high, but totally worth it in my opinion. Greek salads are great. Lunch options are good too. My family always wants to go here while visiting. A must to try, you will be glad you did! Note: they don't have a changing table in the bathroom, the only negative to this place if you have little ones. Other wise, I give it 6 stars

I used to eat here all the time, but moved away. Came back to try it after 4yrs being gone and was disappointed I'm afraid. Yes, its got a good atmospher and stays busy, but our service was slow and food just okay. We all ordered some form of chickenfingers with different sauces and none of them were very good. Even my toddler who got kids chicken and fries spit out the chicken because the breading had a weird flavor to it. The side items like the salad, fries, mashedpotatoes, biscuits etc were good though. I have high hopes it will improve back to my memories.

  • Jonathan K.

I was disappointed at how mediocre this place was. I had high hopes based on some other peoples comments, but that changed as soon as the food started coming out. I don't think I've ever been served ramen noodles at a mid-priced restaurant. $40+ some dollars for an entire meal and I get a chopped cabbage salad with STALE RAMEN NOODLES??? Unbelievable :( The steak that followed was edible, but at the same price point, I'd recommend Red-bone's or Percy&Wilie's Ribeye's to anyone instead. I'd rate this place 1.5 stars if I could.

We stopped as we passed through. Good food, large portions, good selections. The Greek Hamburger Steak was really good. We will stop here againn.
