The good had no taste...had to return two plates. The crab cakes was good though so I'll give them 2 stars.

Cute decor. Good food. The device is usually good. Fun place to come for lunch or after work for some cocktails.

Each time that I've been to Redbone Alley I've had a pleasant experience. The thing that stands out for me about this restaurant is the decor. The interior of the restaurant makes it look like you're eating outside on a sidewalk in Savannah or Charleston. For the most part, the staff is pretty decent. The last time I was there I was with a friend who frequents the bar area pretty often, so he knew the staff pretty well. They were real friendly, so I don't know if it had to do with him being with me or not, but I had a real good experience with them. For the appetizer, we had the heated pita bread with the 3 different dipping sauces. The pimento cheese was my favorite...so good and bad for you! For my main course, I had the salmon on the pimento grits. The fish was good, but the grits were too good! So rich and creamy that I couldn't finish them all. They were on the verge of being a little too rich! These are not the normal grits that you are going to find throughout the region, but they're damn good! Cold beer, drinks, good food, and a good atmosphere all combine for a great time. If you're in the Florence SC area, this is a great option for dinner.

This used to be our favorite restaurant to stop at on our way to Columbia sc however this time was terrible!! We ordered the buffalo chicken dip which was cold and the chicken was old, we always get the chicken salad plate & it was hot, the bartender was very slow and not very friendly. We won't be back

Such bad service I tipped under 10% for the first time in my life. We were given such high expectations for this restaurant and were sadly disappointed. The service was the worst I've experienced in a long time. We sat at the bar, and neither bar tender had any personality at all. They made sure we had drinks, but it took over 10 min for me to get they're attention and ask for a menu. The place seemed a little busy but not so bad that they couldn't shoot the shit and make us feel welcome there. The food was okay but nothing special. Wings had a nice smokey flavor but were small and expensive. I liked the local craft beers the best. But they were $6 a pop. Good cocktails. I have no reason to ever return.

As a Florence native I never really frequented this location because all I ever heard from my family and friends is, "It's overrated." I decided to take my out of state girlfriend here tonight for a taste of southern cooking that I can't provide at home. I have to say, I'm an absolute fool for not going here on just about any outing that involved eating. It is absolutely fantastic. My steak sliders were overcooked, but one taste of my girlfriend's jacked up mac n cheese was all I needed to completely change my mind about this establishment. The food and prices are both excellent given the quality. The fact that they're now brewing their own beers is even better! Service was mediocre at best, but I love the atmostphere! Would recommend this to anyone that lives in, or is visiting, the area.

The decor is awesome... The restrooms sucked.. Our server BRAYDEN was utterly amazing and very attentive. I ordered the Chicken Pontalba.. it was served luke warm... The sliders that were ordered were luke warm as well. Not a lot of creativity in the preparation of food which was a downer especially when compared to the decor of the restaurant. Since this was the only place open on a Sunday while traveling.. we figured we'd give it a shot... won't be making a special trip to eat here again. Had to append on this review after tasting the food a little later today... I am VERY disappointed with the Chicken Pontalba... The ingredients other than the grits were old, possibly from the previous night. I couldn't put my finger on it when I began this review, however after examining my order, it is clear the ingredients used were not fresh. This would also explain the temperature of the food when received. The stars are for the decor and our server Brayden. The restaurant gets a 0 for poor food served. No chef should allow below standard quality food leave the kitchen. PERIOD! SHAMEFUL!

Décor is absolutely beautiful! Love!!! However, food is just ok and the couple times I ate here, I found myself staring at the menu for a long time not being able to decide what I wanted because nothing really interested me that much. What I ended up ordering was shrimp and grits because it seemed the most enticing but meh, I it was ok. I purely came here for the ambiance.

Great restaurant for the family. The inside is built to look like a downtown Charleston setting and even has a self serve ice cream truck inside for the kids. Great food, big portions. Shrimp and grits and the bacon salad dressing are the specialties.

Cool place with great menu. Went twice in my 3 day visit to Florence. Back again. Menu is fresh and use local ingredients.

My husband had the Mediterranean Salad that was absolutely terrific, and huge. I had the Spinach Salad that was piled high with thin onion rings and more than adequate. Both had a great amount of shrimp and both dressings were quite delish We both suggest this place to anyone in the Florence, SC area. Our server was Nicole and she was excellent. Also, the interior is very very different and they achieved the Charleston feel very well! We would def come back again and again.

Because there were so many edgy reviews, we wanted to be sure to say how impreased we were with Redbone Alley. Decor is unique and inspired. Dishes were Carolina Southern, creative and tasty! Shrimp & grits, onion soup, chicken salad, and shrimp po boy all hit the mark. Our server was very polite, attentive and accurate with order. Prices very reasonable especially considering the enormous portions. Not one of us could finish our plate, highly recommend!

Great beer selections, excellent food and good prices! I'll be going back often! Yelp is pushing me to add more, but that's all that I believe needs to be said.

We were stuck in Florence with a broken down vehicle. We travel a lot for work and are fairly experienced with eating out and trying new places. The night before we had gone to Mellow Mushroom across the street from our hotel. I saw a advert for Seminar Brewing's Peanut Butter Porter and was intrigued. They were unfortunately out but informed me that I could find it at Redbone Alley. Not having any transportation we cabbed it over the next night. We hashed around and heard some really decent things. Even our cab driver said most people have said good things. We arrived around 7:30pm on a Wednesday night. Traveling a lot, my co-worker and I tend to belly up to the bar for faster seating. I would say that the bar was maybe half full but the tables around the bar were almost all occupied. The bartenders were busy, but I would not put them "in the weeds" by any means. They really didn't say much or ask us anything. My co-worker asked for a drink menu, I went straight for the Peanut Butter Porter I was looking to try. The bartenders never asked us anything really, not even if we wanted a food menu or if we were interested in food, so we eventually asked for a food menu. I also asked if they had a beer list since it was not in their drink menu. The bartender pointed up at the bar to all the bottled beers they had and said, "That is what we have," and walked away. I was kind of dumb founded. Here I am, having already ordered a craft beer, asking about the rest of their beers, mainly what is on tap, and he points me to the bottled beer selection . . . OK . . . then I find a little triangle advert thing that is there for Seminar Brewing. I do not know who created this pop up advert, the restaurant or Seminar, but it was pretty pathetic. The resolution of the printing was so poor no one could read it and there were no descriptions of what the craft beers could be. So I just went on my smart phone and looked it up myself. Finally we ask for some food menus, and to be honest, everything sounded really good on paper. So we asked for advice and again we were not really met with much help. Just a broad, "Everything is really good." In the end my co-worker and I ended up splitting the plank smoked wings, and a pasta entree. The wings were not good. I mean, they were not bad, but as with all the food there, it just sounded better on paper. The wings were small, the rub was pretty plain and the chicken was dry. I had a Caeser Salad and I can't really describe the dressing but for a Caeser it tasted kind of like vinegar. Lastly the pasta. I got the mac n cheese which one of the bartenders said was his favorite. It was just OK, Nothing special by any means. By co-worker said about the same about the oil based pasta, whatever it was. By the time we were done one bartender had been cut and the guy that was left was a bearded fellow who had about as much personality as an eggplant. I know coma patients that are more lively than this guy. I left a not about our experience on the back of my Credit card receipt. I don't know. I just found the entire experience to be less than mediocre and I am quite surprised to see and have received so many good reviews. I would never recommend this place. I also have to add that the most personality I saw out of the unbearded bartender was when he threw a lime into the cleavage of one of the waitresses. Overpriced beer, overpriced food, under par food and non existent service. For a place that is representing "local flavor" they need to step it up. For a restaurant that rests 1.5 miles from the exit that is almost halfway between New York and Miami, your location will only get you so far. I'd rather go to McDonalds.

Omg!!!! I visited Florence Sc on April 16th for a business trip and was told that Redbone Alley was the place to eat. Boy were "they" Right!!!! The Wings were incredibly delicious. I even ordered some To Go. My daughters grits looked amazing but had bacon in it, so I had to pass. She devoured her plate in minutes. My daughter and I would definitely go back.

We love this place. However there are only a few items we order when we go. The buffalo chicken is the best I have had anywhere. You can get it on top of a salad or it's not on the menu you can get a buffalo chicken sandwich. They use to do a wrap but not any more. The other item is the shrimp curry. Very good. They have a variety of sandwiches, salads and fish. Full bar. Very nice place.

I don't live in Florence anymore, but when I go back to visit, I always eat here. I love that they'll let you substitute any of the sides and you can basically pick and choose anything you want. The bronzed shrimp, bermuda triangles, fried green tomatoes, risotto, and grits are all excellent.

Also in town on business, and the guy I was traveling with said this place was recommended. A very interesting-looking restaurant. It seems to be popular. We were there on a weeknight, and still had to wait ten minutes or so for a table. Don't sit the the back if you're rugrat-phobic. They have a play area set up for the little critters there. I wasn't all that hungry, so only ordered a bowl of french onion soup and a caesar salad. But first - a beer. The young server was completely flummoxed by my asking what beers they had and ended up saying "we have everything". Right kid. There are ten billion beers produced in the world and this place serves all of them. I settled on a SN pale ale, which was nice and cold. Food was not that great. The french onion soup was a little bland and did not have a hunk of bread with cheese toasted on top. French onion soup must have that. I make better a better version at home. The salad was OK. My friend had the shrimp & grits and pretty much said the same thing - he can do it better. Maybe their entrees are the way to go.

Had dinner here one night while I was in town for business (was looking for BBQ, but most of them were closed as it was a Monday night) 1. Service was friendly and quick - ordered food and it was served quickly and hot 2. Had the Chicken Pontalba - grits were really tasty, chicken was good, sausage was very smokey (almost to the point where it was overpowering, but still good) and overall a nice meal / take on southern food in a one bowl kinda way 3. Had a surprising bourbon selection at reasonable prices - this really caught me off guard and I was happy to find it Overall, I would eat here again if I was in town for a few days

Stopped here on our way from Disney World back to NC. We were celebrating our daughter's birthday and could have not picked a better place! Great wait staff, delicious food, and awesome atmosphere!! We all agreed it was one of our favorite places of the whole trip!!

We were traveling via 95 and didn't care to eat at a fast food place. We yelp Florence and this place came up. Great dining spot and interesting venue. The side salad is awesome and filling. The bread service is good also, hot savory bread. We ordered the shrimp and grits and chicken and grits. I never eat grits but decided to try. The food was delicious. My son ordered the burger. It was ok. I would definitely recommend.

Last time i went here it took 3 people to brink us drinks we ordered and that was 2 managers and a waiter. Then our appetizer had a frozen french fry piggybacking with our fried pickles. I used to love this place but it seems to have fallen off a lot. Probably be a long time before i go back

My husband and I love the food here. Totally worth the detour off 95 or before you head onto 20. The atmosphere is nice casual and totally worthy of Sundays best or date night attire. I ordered the Alfredo and hubby orders chicken planks buffalo and then we share our dinner with each other. The buffalo chicken planks ROCK in the Alfredo!!! We live in Ft Bragg NC and our son attends Camden Military Academy and totally worth the stop after we drop him off!!!

I've gotten to the point where I am just kind of over this place. I have gone to Redbone on five separate occasions, and only once was I really blown away. That being said even then I was noticing how dirty and how poorly planed the restaurant was. If you want to have a good meal, completely forget trying to sit on the ground floor. It has been surrendered to a pack of poorly behaved children as their parents try to enjoy a social life. Go upstairs where you can be surrounded by a bunch of private parties housed in faux storefront rooms. You might catch a break and not have any kid parties up there. The steps leading up to the second floor are dark and dirty. The bathrooms are a nightmare for anyone who is even a little bit germaphobic. I looked at a sheet that was hanging in plain view on a Saturday night and it showed it hadn't been clean since Thursday afternoon. (Ew) Once you got outside the bathroom, the baseboards were just as nasty and a bike in the corner was COVERED in dust. The menu has next to no vegetarian options, all salads are even covered in bacon. The bar is a great idea, but good luck trying to find a spot. The breaking point was last night however when they expected folks to just wait an hour/hour and a half for a table that might be in the midst of the afore mentioned wild child pack. No thanks. So between being really dirty, unorganized, and beyond noisy, I'll pass and go to Starfire.

THis place was OK. FIrst time. Had chicken and rice soup and Shrimp and Grits. Soup was above average. The shrimp and grits were not (I went there for this dish as I was told it was great). The grits were dry and shrimp were deep fried. Never had shrimp and grits like this. Did not enjoy it.

My first time tonight. Have heard a lot about it, but, unfortunately, it didn't meet my expectations. It's a bar, and so bar food is it. I was expecting more. The bar itself was very loud, hard to talk to friends, even in the rear seating. Wings appetizer was nice, but smallish, and nothing special. Salad was maybe the best part of the meal. The Balsamic Vingarette house dressing was good. The rib-eye steak was cooked about right, but was not particularly tender or flavorful. The onions on top were excellent. It was surely not the best grade of meat that I expected. Sliced potatoes were OK, but, again, nothing special. Cocktails were small, very small compared to other places. I can't say they were anything more than average in taste either. Table service was slow or non-existent at times. No extra napkins, but at least they were cloth. Table was not particularly clean. The entire place looked a bit worn and not well cleaned. Another big downer was the men's room, very small for a place this big, little privacy, and only one commode. The paper towels had run out, and there wasn't even an air-dryer for backup. -- the person before me left to go find towels, he was frustrated, as was I. He never came back. I think this place had a hey day, but in my opinion, it appears to have passed for now, and I wouldn't come back unless it was some kind of party or event . It does seem to be "event oriented" they have larger tables and spaces for that. But I wouldn't be looking forward to the food and drink, just the company. They had a serious chef at one time, maybe he had a night off? The kitchen looked clean and efficient, what of it I could see.

This was our first time at Red Bone Alley and if what we experienced is typical then we will not be coming back. We had the most empty headed, pre-occupied waitress in the place. Our waitress had no personality. We witnessed our waitress on her cell phone while she should have been working. Instead of taking care of customers she was feeding her face back in the kitchen area which is open view to the public. Our meal took 40 minutes to show up. She brought our bread with the meal instead of before and brought me regular coke instead of diet coke for a refill (I ordered diet because I am diabetic). I don't understand all of the high ratings. I have received better service at McDonald's.

I have eaten here several times now and I love it. The salads are always fresh with the best lettuce... No boring wilted iceberg! Raddicho, butter, arugula you name it. I had the salmon today and it was perfectly seasoned and cooked. I tried the fried green and shrimp also good and finally the chocolate chip pie was a gateway drug to addiction. I could barely not have more. Still thinking about it...mmmmmm. I love that it's local too.

This place is a little strange. A fake alley setting, bad Vegas style. Dim lighting. Bad speakers make loud music annoying. Place a little dirty. Drinks with little alcohol content. Fried green tomatoes with shrimp tasty but then took forever to get main course. All food tasteless. Grits like paste. 16 spice chicken with no spices. Frozen French fries. A truly forgetful experience. We won't be back next time driving through this part of SC.

Solid 4 star restaurant. Menu is varied enough to satisfy young and older diners. I willingly ate grits; I'm not a southerner but they were delicious! They use locally sourced ingredients when possible! Fried green tomatoes, crab cakes, salmon, kids' fruit plate and kids' grilled chicken on a stick were all good. Plenty of parking for those of us with oversize vehicles. Definitely kid friendly. Worth the trip from I95.

The atmosphere is the best part of the Redbone Alley dining experience. It has a Mediterranean street-court atmosphere. There is a court yard on the main floor with steps going up to table on a balcony around the courtyard. Very enjoyable. The food was fair for the price paid. We had fried green tomatoes and Bam Bam Shrimp appetizers. Fried green tomatoes were very good. The shrimp of the Bam Bam Shrimp was cooked well (crispy meat and crispy light batter) but the sauce was, well, not very Bam-Bammy - flat without much flavor pizazz. We had a Palmetto Marinated Rib Eye and I had a Black and Blue Rib Eye. They were both $18.50, approximately 12 ounces, pretty thin and cooked accurately to order (medium and medium rare). Overall, it is probably about what you would expect from an Olive Garden/Red Lobster price range resaurant. Pretty okay, but nothing outstanding.

The decor was awesome! My husband had steak burger i had palmetto ribye. It was the best steak i ever had! my husband raved on how great the burger was. we both had loaded mash potatos and they tasted great! fun environment, friendly staff, and awesome food!

Not as good as the last time I was here. Seems the menu has changed , the appetizer section of the menu contained mostly bar type apps like chicken wings fried pickles and chips. The last time I was in the appetizer section of the menu had much nicer apps to choose from for sit down meals at a table. Maybe they should come up with a menu specifically for the bar for those type of light munchies. I ordered the Black bean chili it was lukewarm when it arrived to the table and prepared with way too much chili powder. Fried green tomatoes were ok unfortunately a little soggy and tasted like the fryer. I'm sure the oil in the fryer definitely was overdue to be changed. The good points my entree, the crab cakes were excellent. The red bliss mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables we're also perfect. Hopefully it was just an off night.

This place is attached to a piggly wiggly. Being from Cali, I was skeptical to try this place, however, the menu intrigued me. I had a grilled panini sandwich which was delicious. My husband had some sort of cheesy grit chicken meal (I dont know what grits are exactly but he loved it). We will definitely go back for more. If you are on the fence, def give it a try. Oh and service was very friendly.

I just had the most God awful experience I have ever had at a restaurant. I ordered online. My food was supposed to be ready at 5:20. At 5:45 my food was brought out with no explanation as to the reason for the wait and hardly an apology. Once we got the food home we found our order was incorrect and missing an entree. I called and spoke to a manager named Jeff (who is not listed on the website as a manger) who apologized and said if we could come back he would have our missing item ready in 10 minutes. He asked what vehicle we would be in so it could be brought out to us. I got off the phone with Jeff at 6:03. At 6:35, 20 minutes after when it should have been ready, we went inside to get our food since it clearly wasn't going to be brought out to us. Once inside we explained to the hostess what was going on and she went to get our food. Dave (who is the General Manager) came up front and asked if we had been waited on. We told him we were waiting on our corrected order after waiting 20 minutes longer than quoted. At that moment the hostess brought our food. No apology. Nothing. The icing on the cake? The entree that we drove back to get was cold. The entire experience was ridiculous. We will absolutely never eat at this establishment again and will without a doubt be telling every single person who brings up restaurants in, around, or near us that Redbone Alley is not the place to go.

Definitely a unique place to eat. Great for kids and fruit lovers. The space is crazy huge. It's like a small city inside and decorated as such. There are multiple dining levels with tons of seating. It was pretty surprising. While we waited to be seated, I let my kids play in their play area which happens to be right next to some tables where other people were eating. It was a little awkward at first, but I'm from out of town, so why not. The kids really liked the ice cream truck parked inside with a working and stocked ice cream freezer. The play area had a few ride on toys and some other toys in a fenced in area. It was definitely kid crazy in that area of the restaurant. When we were seated there, we were fine with it since we brought our kids and it was just adding to the milieu of the place. The food was actually pretty good, but there was an outstanding surprise. I ordered the shrimp and grits based on other Yelpers. It was okay, but not what I was expecting. Just cheese grits with some grilled shrimp on top. There was no glorious soupy sauce that had been tended under the hand of a dentally challenged bayou refugee, yielding flavors unseen before outside of the swamp. Nope, just grilled shrimp on grits. However, don't let that dissuade you from Redbone as we found the item that'll get us to stop by every trip by. We ordered a side of fruit for the kids' meals, which had a lot of food on them for a kids meal. They asked if we just wanted to get the fruit plate and we said sure. O-M-G. The fruit plate was something from a 5-star Hawaiian resort. It was overflowing with a great variety of fruits: watermelon, honeydew, cantaloupe, strawberry, grapes, blackberry, blueberry, kiwi, pineapple, papaya. It was totally unexpected at this place and a beautifully prepared plate. I'd definitely get it again. Who knew Florence, SC had such a plate hidden in it midst. Definitely worth a try.

Red Bone Alley was a local recommenstion So glad i came. my food was delicious and i wish I could have eaten more. the cheesy grits were so good i stuffed myself with them. They were creamy and delicious. if I ever come back to Florence I with try the shrimp and grits I ordered the mixed grill (steak, chicken and shrimp) Uuuummm Good more than satisfied me Big enough portions that i have to take the pecan praline cheesecake home. This is a must go restaurant. My girlfriend said that I was having a food orgasm after eating here. I would definitely go back and try more selections.

We were hungry and looked up good places to eat in Florence. The Redbone Alley Restaurant and Bar popped up. First time at Redbone and I was pleasantly surprised. The lunch size was good. The lunch price was excellent. I had the island shrimp curry with a side salad and my bf had the chicken and shrimp salad. Both meals was tasty. The bread and butter provided was fresh and delicious.

I went here on Sunday night when my husband and I were stopping through Florence on our way from Florida to DC. I went to Yelp and saw some really great reviews for Redbone Alley. It did not disappoint. We sat at in the bar area because we wanted to watch some football and avoid the sound of shrieking children that was coming from the main dining room. I got the shrimp and grits. It was fabulous. Lots of shrimp and great tasting grits. My husband got the salmon and grits. It was good except for the huge glob of cheese they slathered over the piece of salmon. It was gross and completely unnecessary. The flavor of the blackened salmon was perfectly complemented by the grits. So if you order this, I would recommend asking for it WITHOUT the cheese. They had a great selection of reasonably priced beers, including a great seasonal beer on tap that was called Son of a Peach. I loved it! We also got the pond cake dessert. It was super-good! Nice and buttery and the sauce was amazing. A must-try! The one down side about this place was that they allow smoking inside. This totally blew me away. I didn't think that any restaurant in American still allowed smoking in restaurants. This was especially surprising in a place that caters so much to families. It wasn't so smoky that we had to leave, but it was kinda gross. Also, be warned that they don't have any special football TV package, so you will probably only get one football game on a Sunday. I would highly recommend it and I would definitely go back.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect. The name suggested BBQ, but it isn't a BBQ place. It is low-country (or southern cooking). Walking up to the place with my family, the additional suffix "...and Bar" at the end of the name concerned me that it might just be a rowdy bar joint, but I was very surprised at what met me when I walked in. The restaurant opens up into a cavernous interior that is decked out in street lights, faux city interior and both upstairs and downstairs dining. We were seated near a children's area that is quite frequented by the kids who were constantly running in and out of the area. If this bothers you, then request a table away from this area. However, my six year old daughter loved it. Especially, the full-scale ice cream truck with all-you-can-eat ice cream inside the truck! I am not a low-country cooking expert, so I can't tell you how the cooking compares to a Paula Dean type restaurant, but on its own, the food is very good. There were things on this menu that were new to us and also very tasty. We started with the Bermuda Triangles, which are pastry puffs about the size of doughnuts filled with a cream-cheese chicken mixture. You get two for about $8. They seemed very popular since we saw many customers ordering them. I got the shrimp and grits for $14. I have heard of, but never had shrimp and grits, so I was anxious to try them. I was not disappointed. In a large bowl of yellow/white, tender grits they place ham strips and fried shrimp and mushrooms. I had no problem finishing my entrée. My wife had Carolina Shrimp platter, which she was able to order her shrimp fried, blackened, broiled and bronzed for about $13. She loved it. We plan to make this a regular stop when we travel I-95.

This restaurant was highly recommended to us and I had high hopes. It was my husband's birthday and I was happy to have somewhere nice to celebrate while on our way home from Florida. The decor was fun. It looked like something you'd see in Disney World. It was a little more casual than I expected. Our waitress came by and dumped a loaf of bread on the table....we had to ask for plates. The butter was heavily flavored with honey and none of us could eat it. She performed her duties adequately but treated us like we were lepers. One daughter was adventurous and ordered the shrimp curry and it was very good. The bday boy ordered the ribs, thinking they'd be the house speciality, and had to send them back. They were overcooked and had a strange flavor to them (sage?). The buffalo chicken salad and the smoked chicken wings were fine. Nothing exceptional. Maybe we ordered the wrong choices? I wouldn't recommend it. We've had better food at Applebees -- for less money.

One of the best restaurants I have eaten at! The scenery is great. The Food is great. It is a great atmosphere for a date or for the family. They use a lot of local farm products in there dishes, which makes there food taste incredibly fresh! It's not really a vegetarian friendly restaurant though, since they put bacon on everything it seems. But on the other hand THEY PUT BACON ON EVERYTHING! The atmosphere is perfect for just about every occasion. It is set up inside to look like a villa, with bright colors and walls that look like European downtown boutiques. There is even a play area and pool tables for kids. So if the children get restless you can send them to play whack-a-mole! There is also a bar area with free popcorn, which you would like to visit because the wait times can be an hour or more. So if you hadn't made a reservation, be warned, but it is worth the wait!

I've eaten here dozens of times over the years and have never been disappointed. The food and service are always great. The pound cake panini is awesome; best salads anywhere. I do miss dem bones though...they were super. If Redbone can't please you, I don't know who can.

A unique local restaurant that reclaimed an empty department store over twenty years ago. Out of town visitors always delight in the large space that is decorated to evoke patio seating in Charleston. Shrimp and grits are a signature dish, steaks and chops are nicely seasoned. The house salad is worth trying. My regular choices are the buffalo chicken salad and the Bubba Burger made with pimento cheese. The restaurant occasionally hosts local acoustic musicians, which can be good and is never overpowering. The kids area and games make this one of the best places anywhere for adults to converse themselves while kids enjoy themselves away from the table. There is a large separate bar that offers full service, some outdoor seating.

Food is excellent.... They have the best side salad of any restaurant I've ever eaten anywhere and all their dressings are home made. Marinated Ribeye will change your life. Bronzed Chicken and the Chicken Salad plate are great for lighter fare. Shrimp and Grits rival even the best of the low country. Portions are huge. Pricy but worth it. For dessert try the Chocolate Chip pie. Service can be a little slow...this seems to be a consistent pattern... This is the only thing keeping me from the 5th star.

I LOVE this place! I was pleasantly surprised by the decor, very cute, interesting and roomy. It's very roomy, and can seat a lot of people. The service is impeccable. I ordered the lunch shrimp and grits. Oh my....sooo good. I loved the portion size for lunch, just right. My younger son had the burger and fries, and loved it. We ordered to go food as well, for dinner. Since we are in a motel, cooking is impossible. I was so happy with the service, the waitress was so friendly and helpful. The ice cream truck was a hit too. What a neat idea! Lots of choices on the menu, fabulous food and service, and the price isn't bad at all. Hurray for Redbone!

As others mentioned, this place has a cool and kitchy vibe for their faux-city facades that line the restaurant. But the food is yummy too - we went for lunch and got smaller lunch-sized portions of their more popular dishes from the dinner menu for $9 each. I had the Chicken Pontalba, which was fantastic. Wife had the shrimp and grits, but was slightly less impressed. The "kids area" consisted of a toy chest filled with various plastic cheap toys, and one ride-in car that bobbed up and down for a few seconds after a quarter was inserted. Not too thrilling, but it's nice they have an area set aside to keep the kids entertained while the food is being prepared. And as others alluded to, there is an ice cream truck next to the kids area. It contains a reach-in freezer with some ice cream treats in it. Apparently, these are complementary for the kids? But our waiter didn't mention anything to us - we only gave it a thought because of others on Yelp that mentioned it, and saw another family helping themselves. Strange, but nice that they had it. Overall, good prices and a fun atmosphere.

What a neat place! The interior is like being outside on a cafe-lined street. I dined at lunchtime on a Sunday, and figured there would be a wait. However, the wait to the table was minimal and for food was surpisingly short! The staff was courteous and efficient. I had a lunch combo of a salad and small entree, which was generously portioned. My entree was excellent, drawing off american and carolina influences. They offer a children's (family) seating area which wasn't too wild while we were there. This was an excellent break on our trip!

The inside of this restaurant is designed to look like a neat alley (thus the name). It's a great place to take your children because it has a play area with ice cream. There's an arcade upstairs and a separate bar. The food is pretty standard American food. They have sandwiches, pasta, bar food, salads, seafood, and meat dishes. Their shrimp and grits are great though very salty. My favorite entree so far has been the Daufuskie Island Shrimp Curry. There's live music on some nights which can make for a very noisy environment but overall this place is a great place to go.

I was in town on a very quick business trip and ate here twice. The shrimp & grits were excellent. Sometimes at other places the grits can be too rich / greasy, but not here-just right. We sat in the bar to avoid a long wait, which turned out to be a bit smokey. On my second visit I had the pork chops. They were a bit tough, maybe overcooked. The side dishes, succotash and cheddar mashed potatoes, were generous and made up for it. I still thoroughly enjoyed both meals.

I've been all over town taste testing Ribeye steaks lately. I thought Redbones Ribeye's were good. I've tried their two signature steaks, and both times was pleasantly surprised with their quality. I can't say it's the very best I've ever experienced, but I will say that liked them much better than a number of other local places such as Peddlers, Starfire, Jacks, and Victors. For the local steakhouses, I still like the Percy and Willie's steak selection better, but in my mind Redbone is a very close second.

  • April K.

What an unique place! Loved sitting in the alley to eat! I had the chicken pontalba which was exceptional! The grits were creamy and the best I ever had! DH had the Sweet Tea Marinated Pork Chop which was full of flavor and cooked well! The blue cheese potato chips we had were pricey and mushy! We returned them to the kitchen and our second batch was much better! Be sure to order your chips crispy! We will definitely go back on our next trip to the beach!

I am originally from the area and wanted my honey to try to the place. We were starving and came on a busy Saturday evening, yet we were seated in right under 20 minutes. :) Our server was very personable, which is a big plus for us. Throughout the evening, she stayed that way and also was very attentive. I love the smoked wings, so we got those and a few salads as starters. The salads appeared fresh and plentiful. I like their variety of dressings. He and I were both happy. For the main course, I could not pass up shrimp&grits and he had a chicken pasta dish. I really enjoy the flavors and grits, but wish they would use sauteed' /grilled shrimp instead of the fried shrimp They may think it's a time saver, but shrimp is one of those foods which does not take long to cook. Maybe even do a test run and offer the grilled version as a special to gauge the public's response. The breading on the shrimp gets soggy and becomes unappetizing which negates the tasty flavors of the overall dish. My honey enjoyed his pasta dish very much. On another note, another patron and I noticed the dated look of the ladies room. Sometimes you have to take a portion of your profit and dedicate it to restaurant upgrades, plus a little more lighting would not hurt. :) Prices are fair and service is good when you get the right person. Florence did not have a lot when I was growing up, yet it has grown a lot in the last three years. Whenever I am in the area, I will still give this place some business.

I love this place!! I remember going as a child after they first opened... It is so good I still go almost every time I am home! It is a great atmosphere with incredible food. The decor is so unique, modeled after an alley in the city in Charleston. It is great for a date, and great for families too! Go! Get the chicken fingers, get the shrimp and grits, get anything- it will be REALLY good.

I love this restaurant! I tried the shrimp and grits for the first time about 2 months ago. I was sure I was going to hate it. Now I'm sad that I waited so long to try it. The chicken pontalba was dynamite as well. As long as I have a reason to go to Florence, I'll keep coming back.

Stopped off for lunch here on day two of a drive from Philadelphia to Florida. Delicious! For two people we got a fried green tomato appetizer and crab cake entree and it was plenty of food. Outdoor dog friendly seating made for a nice, relaxing stop. Fast service, too.

The feeling you get when you walk in the door is great. You actually feel like you are in an alley. The restaurant is big. The food is great. Many of my friend enjoy thier grits. I normally have a burger or the chicken Leo. Some of the other food is not my style so I have not tried, but have heard it was good too.

Heading to Florida from D.C. and stopped for a quick lunch. Great food, really cool atmosphere. They had healthy options, the juiciest rotisserie chicken with salad and homemade salad dressings. The outside of the building isn't impressive but inside this place is very nice and uniquely set up. You won't be disappointed!

I was on business in Florence with a group of others and we figured there was nowhere to go better than the Outback Steakhouse. One of the clients recommended this restaurant and all I can say is WOW! When you come in, the first thing you see is that the place is decorated to look like an alley, with terraces and a play area for the kids. The servers are very friendly and make excellent recommendations. I had the shrimp and grits, which was enough food to feed an army. One of the others got four sides, which was even more food than I ended up with... each side dish comes in a huge bowl, not just the small portion you might be expecting. None of us could face dessert, but the signature dessert of the house (described by a waiter who weighed all of 90 lbs, of course!) is two pieces of pound cake with caramel sauce, put through a panini press and served with ice cream. Although my arteries weren't up to that, it sounded amazng. Everything that I ate here was phenomenal - the service was excellent - the decor is fascinating. Really, you can't go wrong. Highly recommended.

I like this place because most of the food is yummy and they have a very cool kids area complete with ice cream truck and toys. If you're a parent with young kids you'll appreciate that. It's kind of loud for a date place, but casual meal with friends or family and it's great. Shrimp and grits and chicken Leo are my favorites.

Nice find in an unexpected location. The crab cakes were very good, as was the "sufferin' succotash." The portions of the latter, however, were enough to feed two or three diners. Definitely a cut above the typical franchise eatery. Worth a short jog off the Interstate.

This is my families favorite spot to eat. We used to live in Sumter,SC and they had one there. Now when we drive through Florence for vacations we make a pit stop at the Florence one. Everything here is so good and the atmosphere is awesome! I always get the chicken alfredo, it's the best I've ever had. My husband always gets the steak and it's always good! Can't wait for another trip just to make the stop :)

Being in Florence on business I, of course, used Yelp for food establishment suggestions. Unfortunately I cannot agree with fellow Yelpers on this one. The "Alley" is kitschy and lacking soul. I would've rather eaten in the bar where it seemed more cozy and had natural light. I ordered the shrimp and grits and came away underwhelmed. The shrimp was breaded (lightly) and had a slight "fishy" taste suggesting it was on older side. On the positive side, the staff was friendly.

Looks like a low-rent Epcot center pavilion. Food was bland. I had the shrimp curry. I was hoping for something interesting, some west Indian/southern combination... I think the shrimp was frozen. Anyways, I'd say don't go.

Redbone Alley is a Florence staple. Serving lunch and dinner. While many vacationers stop in for a different experience, plenty of business people make this a regular lunch agenda. Try the Bermuda triangles, Heated Pita Chip Basket, Mediterranean Shrimp Salad, Fusion Cobb Salad, Chicken Leo, Mixed Grill, Fresh Fruit and Pecan Chicken Salad. Visit their website for an updated menu. If you stop by for lunch, remember to get the lunch size or half order. The server will tell you for a $1.00 you can get the full size. You will not finish it. Way to much food. The bar is a good size and there are plenty of screens for the sports enthusiast. If it is not to humid OR hot, enjoy the outdoor patio. Remember the servers are usually high school or college students, with no customer appreciation experience. There is a kid's corner with a Good Humor ice cream truck where the kids play while the parents chat. Large parties are placed upstairs. Restaurant is located in a large shopping center with Piggly Wiggly, Dress Barn, TJ Maxx, etc.

When you walk in you will love the decor! The food is pretty okay and the prices are not bad. Average meal will run you between $12-$20. I had the 16 shrimp plate, half charcoaled and other half grilled. Very good! The icecream truck was a favorite of the kids. If I loved icecream as much as they did, I'd be running in there too! lol

Florence doesn't offer that much diversity in the food arena. If you are a permanent resident of Florence, or even a visitor, this place is probably worth visiting even if it is only to ogle the gaudy interior decorating. How many restaurants can claim to have an ice cream truck as part of the decor? The restaurant on the inside features wide open spaces and a two story lay out all inspired by Charleston, SC landscapes. You may think you have walked in a cheap Disney set instead of a restaurant at first glance but I promise you they really serve food too. I really could do without the gimmicky interior but the kids seem to like it. Just be warned if they decide to seat you on the second floor you will burn half of your meal's calories before getting to the top (although this may not be bad thing). Because the tables are so spread out service sometimes suffers. And for the love of God don't let them seat you near the ice cream truck. Trying to enjoy a peaceful meal with kids shrieking in the background is akin to having my toenails ripped off with pliers. On the weekends this place gets pretty crowded so be prepared to wait 30-40 minutes during peak times. If you anticipate bringing a large group call ahead and they can usually prepare something upstairs. There is also a full bar with TVs if you want a drink and appetizer. Now on to the food. I have probably eaten at this place a dozen or so times. Some highlights include: Appetizers: Have had both the Bermuda Triangles and Fried Green Tomatoes. Both are just ok and neither is a very large portion size. Their appetizers could probably comfortably feed 2-3 people but if you bring 4 or more somebody aien't eating. Entrees: Had the Palmetto Marinated Rib Eye Steak and wasn't all that impressed. Chopped sirloin steak is what you would expect, nothing fancy but fulfilling. Their chicken pontalba is my favorite dish and 90% of the time this is what I end up ordering. Their chicken planks will probably satisfy the kids but not the more sophisticated adult palate. Have heard good things about their shrimp and grits too but if you want real shrimp and grits drive 2 more hours to Charleston. Desserts: Have had their Hot Apple Crisp which was good. They have an assorted cheesecake menu which seems popular. This place has some decent eats but for the most part I find it a bit overrated. Again any place that has to be gimmicky with their interior decorating is covering up deficiencies elsewhere. Solid but not spectacular.

Very good food. Pricey though. I had the Cuban Sandwich and it was to die for!!! My husband had the Flat Iron steak and loved it. They have desserts that look wonderful and sinful, but we were too full to sample them. Next time we will go just for drinks and dessert. :-)

There are not many non-chain restaurants in Florence, SC so in looking for something different we found Red Bone Alley. Great low country seafood. Loved the Shrimp and Grits! A nice indoor alley feel. Worth a look if you're in town on business or otherwise.

On the way up to Virginia stopped for the night in Florence and found this place to eat. Great atmosphere and decor. Service was quick and our waitress was attentive. Food was excellent came out quick. Very nice looking bar with an interesting ice making machine droppijngnice from the ceiling to cool bottles of beer. Btw this is not a bbq it is a full service restaraunt with low country southern cooking. Enjoyed and will return if we come back through this way.

I don't know much about upper middle class yuppie establishments, but this place is very flavorful and creative with the menu. Like fried quail and grits. The Shrimp and Grits being their signature dish is very true to it's Charleston origins. It's very good and very filling. I wouldn't recommend sitting upstairs in the summertime...it's pretty stuffy up there. All in all, everything I've ever ordered had at least two flavors. That is essentially what makes this place a step above the rest.

I take everyone from out of town here. It is soo cool on the inside! Its like your sitting outside on a sunny day in beautiful Charleston, SC. The food is excellent. Everything is good but I love the Southern Fried Chicken Planks (perfectly seasoned chicken fingers) with this crazy awesome dipping sauce. Service is always excellent. Nice clean bathrooms. There is a children's section with a play pen and ice cream truck they can climb in and grab a treat. Price is reasonable. Its a touch noisy inside, especially when there are a lot of kids around so I would not consider this a good place to take a date. But, its a fun place with great food.

Was visiting the area for a high school graduation and our group of 13 went here for lunch. Loved this place! The decor, the shrimp and grits, and the pound cake panini were all excellent! This is a kid friendly restaurant, and since I have 3 little ones, it worked out great! Sorry for those reviewers who don't like to have kids around when they dine out, maybe carryout would work better for you.

I was in Florence on business and my client suggested this place for lunch. It was much cooler than I expected. From the outside, it looked like a cheesy mall restaurant, but when you go it, it is like an outside Charleston street. It's surprisingly well done and not too Disney-esque. I had a steak salad and practically licked my plate, which, needless to say, would not have been too appropriate in front of the clients! The other entrees looked good, too. They have a couple other locations...see the web.

I dined here on two occasions in the past 4 days last week as my family has been visiting our precious niece in the hospital not far from here. Each time was def. a great meal and accommodating staff. Reservations for 8 or more only - first night we had just enough with 8 in our party. The outside isn't much to look at, few outdoor seating spots off of the bar area - banked that for next time I'm in the area. Entering to the right for the dining area (bar to the left), welcomed with a friendly smile and greeting - the ambiance on the inside doesn't match the outside. Inside, as you can see from others pictures, def sets you in San Antonio River Walk, New Orleans, a bit Atlantic city-esque - pleasant surprise. Friday live music and a long wait - thankfully we had reservations. We were seated promptly (upstairs, had to walk up 2 flights of stairs) and greeted by our server, MATTHEW. (tall kid with surfer blond hair) Matthew was an AMAZING server. Friendly, attentive, our glasses never half full, cleared off appetizer plates when empty, and all around just really great at his job. He knew the menu and was able to answer questions and make suggestions. We had the mexican pizza dip, app combo platter, aged steaks, Alfredo, spinach salads, salmon salad, grilled chicken, and a burger. The margarita was okay on the rocks, and the whiskey business was good (for not top shelf). No room left for dessert. Request Matthew, he was really on his game and deserved the good tip. The type of plates they use were these interesting colorful santa fe like plates - I honestly didn't like them and didn't think they fit the decor. Weird to nit pick that, but for some reason I kept looking at the plates thinking they did NOT match the restaurant. Weird, I know. Second time dining was on a quieter Sunday early evening. No reservation, as we were down to 5 in our party and it was early enough to get a table. We tried to request Matthew, but he was cut for the day - he came over to personally say hello and thank us for coming back and requesting him. TRIPP was our server for this round, and he did just as good a job as Matthew! Again we had the mexican pizza dip, app sampler - and then aged steak, mac n cheese, shrimp and grits, sliders, and chicken puffs. All just as delicious and service on point. In short, the food was great, the drinks were okay, the ambiance nice - if this Jersey girl finds herself back in the Florence area, i will def make a point to have my meal here!

I love the decor. I tried shrimp and grits for the first time here (minus the pork products). It was different, pretty good. Every time I have ordered the high end steak here it was huge and beautiful and they over cooked it...lol. Then I have to watch my whole table eat while they redo my order. They alway bring me a tiny second steak cooked correctly. My bad luck I guess. Stay away from the ice-cream truck/play area if you want a relaxing meal. Some people just let their kids crawl all over the hood of the truck and run all between the tables grabbing handfuls of ice-cream, yelling and playing, hopped up on all that sugar. While they relax in a completely different area paying no attention to the chaos/fun the kids are having. Lol. Live music at times. Game room and a pool table up stairs. Bar is separated from main dining. Open kitchen so you can see who is cooking and what they are doing if you walk over there. Small shop/gift shop inside as well.

For a brief moment I thought I had walked into the Paris Hotel in Vegas. I looked for the Eiffel Tower, but didn't find it. The wait was reasonable - about 20 minutes. Once seated, our server was prompt with drinks and taking our order. If you haven't tried the crab-cakes, you must - that is, if you're a seafood/shellfish lover. These are lump crab-cakes, not fake and not the garbage you find on most buffets. The food was terrific! Our server was okay, but wasn't particularly attentive or visible. Service wasn't bad either - just mediocre. The food and ambiance are what make this place.

On a road trip back to Florida, we opted to try some local flavor instead of hitting up a big-chain restaurant on the way home. We came on Sunday around lunch time, and luckily didn't have to wait for a table for two. I have nothing bad to say about the food, but we both agreed that we weren't blown away by our lunches. I ordered a lunch portion of the Red Bone salad, which was decent and did the job of feeding me. My lunch partner ordered the lunch combo with a salad and the shrimp and grits. What's interesting about the shrimp in the grits is that no where on the menu is it stated that the shrimp is battered and deep fried. Since we tend to not eat a lot of fried shrimp, and typically Shrimp and Grits are not fried, we were a little disappointed that there wasn't a better description in the menu. During our visit, both of the women's restrooms were clogged, leaving us to cross our legs until someone was able to come fix only one of the problem toilets. While the food here is decent, I don't believe we'll be going out of our way to come back here in the future.

Walked in, not welcomed. Love the atmosphere, not the service. Received my lunch salad, crisp. The dressing, however, was supposed to be hot bacon. It was so not hot that it was in a gelled clump in a small dish. I could not pour it onto the salad! My entree was adequate for a lunch special. Chicken and shrimp linguini. This will not be our first choice when passing through again. For dog lovers, the two outdoor tables are nice, and the bartender did give our dog fresh water. That changes my review from 2 to 3 stars.

If you love raw chicken, soggy, under cooked "house" chips and pasta that taste less than what you would find in a box on an isle in a gas station, then this is the place for you! You may think, "why didn't you mention the 3 frozen shrimp that was defrosting in the unseasoned, zero flavor pasta or the chips covered in grease and salted with the atlantic ocean to your server or floor manager?" But I did. They said they were sorry and sent over a fruit tray. Lol! If I wanted fruit, I would have ordered it. When the waitress asked "is that chicken pink?" I had no response. The ticket came out and was asked "is there anything else?" I should have said "are you kidding?", however, I was with my mom and my wife and just smiled. Yet, like the sheep we have become, we put up with it and worry about the tip. Are there any good restaurants in Florence?

We had a great experience here. The family section with the play area for the kids is genius! Nicely decorated, the staff was pleasant and the food was great!

Excellent crab cakes and fries. Two attempts at hamburger steaks were barbelled..one under and one over cooked. HOWEVER, management and customer service service was exceptional. Highly recommend it.

I like this place for lunch. Dinner, not so much. I admit to being a regular for lunch at least three times a month. The menu is reliable and it is one of the places I can go in this town and have two cocktails at lunch and not get the judgement look from some tool at another table or worse yet, the server. My friend swears by the Shrimp & Grits and he is a bona fide Southerner. I have never been disappointed by the Chicken Leo, the Bacon Swiss Burger or the Fettuccine Mosaic. I would avoid the Fresh Fruit & Chicken Salad at any cost. I have tried the place for dinner a couple of times and was not blown away. The live music is usually quite bad. As a lunch staple with a complete bar, it's hard to beat this place.

This is a great restaurant with a family friendly atmosphere. I had the Chicken Pontabla and it was absolutely wonderful. Everything was seasoned to perfection. My mom had the Chicken Leo and she also gave it a thumbs up. I love the free ice cream for the kids, that's a great touch and nice end to any great meal. We will definitely visit again.

This was well worth the slightly out of the way stop from I-95. The game area is a bit worn, but the kids enjoyed it. The food was surprisingly fantastic. 16 spice chicken salad was so fresh, well presented and super tasty. Kids had burgers and fresh fruit -large pieces of whole fruit. Norm had a burger and fries - just fine. Portions are reasonable, not super American sized. No one needs to feel guilty about a trip to the ice cream treat truck. Service is solid. Tablecloths a little worn, ambience is quaint/interesting. Food - definitely worth the stop.

This place has some unique dishes that are very well prepared. We like to start with a Mexican pizza dip. It is zesty and flavorful. My favorite is the shrimp curry for a dinner entree'. For lunch my favorite is the salmon salad, with their original dressing that gives this dish the perfect blend of favors. This is a kid friendly Resturaunt that has an actual ice cream truck inside the building stocked with free ice cream. It is a great incentive for my son to eat all of his dinner. And I can't forget to mention the fabulous atmosphere. It is like walking into a little village. All of these things combined make for a memorable dinner.

Pretty good place, had the shrimp and grits and some pasta also. Like both a lot. Great place to stop.

My boyfriend and I ate here midway back home to Philadelphia from Florida. It was a really cool restaurant. I've never had grits before and I'm happy I tried it! Would definitely come back there again if we are ever in the area.

A good idea gone wrong. This is such a cool setting and great menu. That's where the good stuff stops. I am fairly sure the wait person we had was in training if not he needed some desperately. Drinks were not automatically refilled, our meals were not just set in front of us but handed to us. When we had requests it took 5 minutes for him to respond. The food was blah. The crab cakes were cold and mushy and the 16 spice chicken must have been missing about 15 of its spices. When the restaurant was informed of the poor condition of the crab cakes they did remove them from our bill and that earned them the one star on this review or they would have been a zero star experience.

Among American restaurants there are "I-wish-I-had-a-burger" and "I wish-I-was-a-kid" kinda restaurants. This place proudly has both of the elements under the same roof. I mean we are talking interior made as Charleston and self-serve ice-cream truck! Ten year old me would have sold her most treasured and only Barbie, to have chicken fingers here. However dolls and games aside, place is just ok. Good fried pickles. Salads were done in huge chunks of eggs and lettuce (I like mine finely chopped), fancy chicken with multiple spices was dry and in general everything was far from gourmet. Unfortunately the encounter with restaurants doesn't end with customers leaving. In a 30 minutes we found ourselves in a middle of Great Drought (with no water) driving on the highway. We continued to be very thirsty till next afternoon which is unheard of even after Chinese food. I might return here. Whenever I have children or galore of blood pressure medications on board.

Very cool place with very cool people. Fantastic menu! I ordered the Pimento Grits Salmon. The waitress and I crossed signals and what came out was the regular salmon. Now this is where this place turns awesome... More and more it seems restaurants turn an unapologetic ear and let you live with their mistakes. Not Redbone, they take satisfaction seriously and made everything right. Brought out their house made grits and pimento cheese. Just a cool place!

Stopped for dinner on a Monday night and was surprised by how busy it was. This restaurant has a very neat atmosphere where it seems like you're outdoors even though you're inside. We had a short wait before being seated. Our server Sharonda was fantastic. She was friendly and attentive and also knew the menu very well. We started off with the Mexican pizza dip which is delicious (I've had just this dip for my dinner before). The chips, however, had not fully cooked so there were a couple of chips that were chewy instead of crunchy. I had the Lowcountry Shrimp and Grits which can hold its own against any shrimp dish from Charleston, SC and the grits were perfect. My husband had the mixed grill and was also very pleased. So much food that we had leftovers for the next day.

My Chicken Leo was okay. Not as great as suspected but I did almost finish it thou so def. not bad. I wouldn't probably order it again but I would come back to try the shrimp and grits. My bud had the rotisserie chicken and liked it but they put a lot of pimento cheese. They do have and area for young children to hang out and play in. Thought that was cool.

Redbone is one of Florence's best restaurants. I used to live there and always loved going out to Redbone. The inside of it reminds me of Charleston! It's been around for 20 years, which is a long time for a restaurant to survive in a small city like Florence. Be prepared to wait, even on weeknights it can get packed, but it's worth the wait, as it's one of the nicer places in Florence and a little off the beaten path of the interstate (but worth the drive from your hotel). I visited a few days ago when I was in town for work, because as a former local, I knew it was good. I usually get the Daufuskie Island Shrimp Curry, but this time I tried the Mediterranean Shrimp Salad. It was excellent, but the shrimp are on the bottom of the salad, so at first I didn't realize they were there. I recommend the Sweet Vidalia Onion dressing with it rather than the dressing it comes with, too. My friend came with me, and he had the Mexican Pizza Dip. It's definitely NOT for dieters, but he swears it's delicious (I don't eat pork, so I didn't taste it). The sides are also good, like the fettuccine and the spicy cheese grits, and the house salad as a meal is pretty good too (you can pair it with the fettuccine side to save some money, or if you're not super hungry. The bread they bring to the table, along with the honey butter, is excellent. By far the best restaurant bread in Florence. If you go on your birthday, you get a delicious ice cream sundae too. If it's not your birthday and you have some friends, just get that ice cream sundae and share it- it's big enough to share. So, if you visit Florence... definitely try Redbone Alley! So much better than the chain restaurants in town and great service too. It's a beautiful restaurant inside and the food is always excellent.

We bypassed the line for the dining room and ate at the bar. We were looking for a decent spot for dinner on our road trip home from holiday traveling. Nice atmosphere. Very high ceilings, classic, semi upscale. Sitting at the bar, we missed out on the unique outside feel decor of the main dining room. Good music as well. Beer selection is the slightly more than the typical microbrews. Loved the selection of grits entrees! My grits were so creamy! Don't miss them!! Our food orders were very quickly delivered. Friendly and prompt service. It was pricier than I normally want to spend but I get the feeling this is a fancier local restaurant, and that you're paying for the decor and atmosphere. Overall, the food was good. It was what I find at another chain american restaurants. It didn't seem to have exceptional flavor or cooking skill, and tasted just plain fine. Honestly, the grits added the fourth star for this review.

What has happened here? Food quality has gone downhill. I got the Bubba Burger it wasn't good at all. My friend got the Chicken Leo and her chicken was dry and hard. It's just not the same as it used to be. Very dirty too!
