Love this place. I eat there sometimes more than once a week. I have absolutely nothing to complain about.

I've been eating at this restaurant since they opened. I came in to get take out on Sunday and a longtime employee of the chain was at the bar, extremely drunk and rude to me in front of staff and a waitress barely shrugged and said sorry like it really didn't matter. He went as far as to ask me, very loudly, sexual questions and when I refused to answer he loudly yelled some disturbing comments. To make things worse, there were people that I had worked with and old classmates that were in earshot of his drunken rant. Women should not be subjected to these kinds of things and if this company will allow their employees to act this way, then they don't deserve to have customers or a business license. They'll be lucky if this issue doesn't stop here.

Great food, and each time we eat here the service is great and the food is awesome. For me, when my tea is refilled before it goes empty is a sign the staff is attentive to its customers. You won't be disappointed.

I've been to one of the San Jose's in Columbia, and it was ok. This location was a pleasant surprise with everyone in our group liking what they had. And as Orlangela pointed out, it is new looking, because I think it's only 2 years old. The venue is in great shape and maintained well and clean. However the food was the highlight and we were pretty happy with most of what we ordered. If you're a non-vegetarian (aka, eat meat), my friend who got the chicken chimichunga (sp?) said it was very good. My vegetarian combo was delicious with the cheese sauce over the burrito being the star for me. My other friend who's also vegetarian got the veggie fajitas and seemed to like it a lot too. We all LOVED their tortillas with salsa, which were warm and fresh, and incredibly mouthwatering, and we inhaled about three baskets in 15 mins! Also price-wise, this San Jose is super pocket friendly. My dinner bill came out to under $9, that's with ordering an entree AND a side! Not bad, not bad at all!

San Jose has great food. I also like the decor. They make it look not only like it is actually in Mexico , but just welcoming and bright.

Located in the heart of Elgin, San José serves it purpose very well indeed. Saturday nights are $1 tacos (hard shell only) and $1.50 drafts. Not a bad deal on the wallet, and the service is fast, and the wait on your food is kept to a minimum. The menu choices are limited, but what San José offers is very pleasing to the palate.

She said..." I've been to a bunch of San Jose's in Columbia, but this one is probably the cleanest/nicest I've been to. The restaurant itself is very clean and trendy...it seems new too. The staff is very quick and nice to serve you. This place is really cheap for lunch, my fiancé and I ate there for lunch and only spent 9$ for the both of us. The food was good, I would definitely come back to this place." He said..."Lunch for two for 9 bucks...only in Elgin SC will you find that. I'm not a fan of Mexican food so I always order chicken enchiladas and rice. At least this chicken didn't smell like cat food like the one in Starke, FL did. So for a cheap meal go here, its fast and not that bad."

This is our favorite of all the San Jose Mexican Restaurants. Partially because its so close to our house, and partially because the food and cleanliness are much better than the rest. The menu is basically the same as all the other chain Mexican restaurants, but things just seem to taste fresher here. Beer is cheap and there are lots of margarita variations, so thats an added bonus.

This place had been built up for quite some time so I was looking forward to finally trying it. Not. Disappointed. The queso was delicious. Period. I ordered the steak/chicken fajitas and left stuffed. There was a solid helping of melted cheese on top of the fajitas. Three tortilla shells were enough to make me happy. San Jose lived up to the hype!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
