The shrimp were fresh and at a great price. The service giving by the employees made us want to go back during our vacation.
What a beach seafood market should be. Friendly staff, super fresh seafood and some playful pups out back. Reasonable prices for locally wild caught shrimp. No farm raised shrimp allowed.
Excellent and fresh shrimp at very reasonable prices. I'm so glad we didn't get shrimp from the grocer as these were so much better. Parking is an incredibly difficult challenge due to horrible design and poor maintenance. If another patron is unobservant or plain rude, you can easily get blocked in.

Great barbecue and friendly service. Been to many barbecue restaurants before and this one is at the top of the list. I cannot go to Edisto and not stop in and stuff myself with barbecue pork and fried chicken and sweet ribs and all the fixins.

Great buffet. Lots of choices in meats and veggies. Didn't care for the potato salad but everything else was pretty good. The bbq is unsauced and has a good flavor on its own. There are 4 available sauces and three of four were a hit, we didn't care much for the orangeburg sweet and the Midlands mustard was a pleasant surprise. The fried chicken was well seasoned and lightly coated. As for the sides the creamed silver queen corn and Mac and cheese were very good as was the squash casserole. We finished off with the banana pudding as you should and were not disappointed. All in all it was a tasty value and we will be going back.
Although it has moved from its location down the road, the quality remains the same and the seating is expanded. This is a must stop (and sometimes twice) when visiting Edisto Island.
On our way to Edisto Beach we stopped at this BBQ place that looked like a hole in the wall. Wow, were we pleasantly surprised! The food is outstanding, the service friendly, and the inside is quaint and clean. We had the all-you-can-eat buffet and the only concern we can share is -- you will eat more than you should because it is so delicious. The variety is awesome. What a treat. They are open only Thursday - Saturday (bummer) between October and May. During the summer they add Wednesday.

Seacow Eatery

Four of us ate here for dinner our last night in town. The wing-dings were so good as an appetizer our husbands ordering them again for "dessert". The horseradish sauce that comes with the calamari was unique and delicious. My husband had fried oysters for dinner and was raving about them. My low-country boil was good, nothing to write home about, but good nonetheless. The wait staff was friendly and helpful. The beer and wine was priced well.
This place is amazing! We went two times for dinner and once for breakfast. The fried shrimp and the shrimp and grits were amazing! The breakfast was great with a great selection for everyone!
UNTIL THEY CAN IMPROVE THEIR SERVICE TIMES -- DON'T EAT HERE If I could give this place zero stars I would. I understand on Edisto Island, things move at a slow pace. Then there is Seacow Eatery, which redefines the meaning of slow island eating. We waited there for over an hour before our food even made it to the table. The kitchen was so slow. We honestly should have left to go down the street to Bi Lo, Subway, or spent the money for good food and service at Finns. The waitstaff knew there was a long wait, so they avoided us the entire time. Ill admit, for fried seafood, they did a OK job -- but it is hard to enjoy your meal when you have been sitting there for such a long time. Tips for eating here: When you arrive, ask the other tables to see how long they have been there. If they have been waiting longer than a half hour... leave and go someplace else. I left leaving no money for the waitstaff. Sorry, I know that is mean. If the back of the house isn't working right, why should I have to pay for service?

"Usually we take reservations" although our whole meal only had one other table present. No choice of sides.either you want baby limas and grits or you want grits and baby limas. They DO NOT split ticket so if you go with a couple bring cash or pay for the whole table. In our case there were 8 of us....so they were only willing to divide by 4 reluctantly, even though they weren't busy and had electronic capability. Just not accommodating. My chicken was great... And my company...that's about all. I'm thinking its more for upscale patrons that want the atmosphere. Do not bring 2 yr or younger. My opinions...and all mine. Semper Fi!
You never fail to meet my expectations of an amazing meal in a lovely environment. Outstanding crabcakes!
I was in Edisto Island with my father, visiting some friends who live on the Island whom recommended this restaurant for dinner. They had 6:30 reservations for us, however, we decided to catch the Preakness and didn't arrive until close to 7:15, which didn't seem to be a problem as they held our table, and there were plenty of other tables open. Once we were seated we received water, bread and butter. The bread looked like it came from last week and was served with butter packets that I usally see at Ihop or some breakfast spot. We started with the Pimento Cheese dip and all I can say is be prepared to drink a lot of water. The dip was so hot I had to eat plain crackers to calm my pallet, and I like spicy/hot food. There were several specials, which was nice. However, the Old Post only makes one vegetable each day and does not subsitute anything! With my party we had crab cakes, chicken piccata and a filet. The crab cake was very good, nice lump crab and served extremely warm. I enjoyed the chicken, however, they could have held back on the butter. My entire plate looked like a butter slab by the end of the night as the remaining melted butter had dried..a little too heavy for my liking. The filet I was told was decent. As for the service, somewhat disappointing. As the restaurant isn't that big, and it was not crowded, our waitress was very distracted, forgot an order, and even forgot her pen when she came to take our order. I know Edisto doesn't offer too many close restaurants so I do wish the service and food was a little better, as the place is quaint and could be so much better.

The bartender was great. Very friend woman and we enjoyed her very much. However, the food was AWFUL. I actually almost asked if I got could my green beans steamed. They came from a can! Gross. The flounder was absolutely terrible and the shrimp was next to awful. This is an island restaurant. Seriously disappointed and we wouldn't recommend it. Update: When we called back to great a refund the owner argued with me and refused to give us a refund. Terrible customer service & terrible food.
Outstanding food. Some of the best seafood we have ate. All five of us ordered the Dockside dinner. We did think the coconut shrimp appetizer was kind of small ( 5 shrimp).Clean restaurant. Great service. We definitely will make this a regular when passing through.
Food was great. Service was good. We were there on a Saturday afternoon. My wife and I ordered the baskets. Menu said the were $14 if you got the two item basket. On the ticket they were $22. I didn't complain because the food was great. It turned out to be a $52 lunch with ice tea. I would eat there again, but I'll make sure the menu is correct first. We are both originally from Georgetown, SC. We eat fresh local seafood there all the time. We both grew up eating seafood in Murrells Inlet, SC back then it was the seafood capitol of the Carolina's. The restaurant is now downstairs in the bar.

Pizza reminded me of Papa Murphy's. My wife liked the pan style crust, comparing it to California Pizza Kitchen. I wasn't overly impressed. We spent $110 for 4 pizzas. They were big, about 1x2', but that's still pretty expensive.
My family got pizza here while on vacation. We hoped for a nice night where we didn't have to cook and could relax with pizza. Big mistake. We ordered three large pizzas, which equated to about 24 slices. Two pepperoni and one margherita pizza. About 50 dollars worth. Being the only pizza place in the area that was open that day, we hoped for the best. Most of my family found the pizza to be completely inedible. The crust was soggy and undercooked. The margherita pizza was advertised as having fresh chopped basil, but in reality, had dried basil pieces clearly not fresh at all. We've had better pizza from cafeterias, at a third of the cost. Please do yourselves a favor and grab frozen pizzas from the grocery store instead. What a waste!
There isn't much competition for this pizza place, but if there was it would be out of business. It is very expensive for pizza that is not worth it in my opinion. The middles of all of our pizzas were doughy and not cooked all the way through. Overall, our family concluded that the pizzas tasted like a Bagel Bite (don't get me wrong, I love Bagel Bites but I could have gotten those for a fraction of the price and would have had a better experience). Save yourself some time and money and go to the Bi-Lo and buy a frozen pizza or the ingredients to make a quick homemade one- it'll be better than Buck's.
