Iama Critic Rating - La Finca Mexican Restaurant - 3 Stars 1722 East Main Street, Easley, SC Our Experience: From the outside La Finca looks like your average, "wish I didn't come here" strip mall Mexican hole in the wall. And their websites do not help the situation as they haven't updated them in a year. But we came to this little restaurant because of their very impressive ratings. La Finca has at least four stars on all six of the major review sites we use to post our own restaurant reviews. We were hoping for a great Mexican place close to home, but sadly we found our experience to be less than expected, with food that just didn't match up to the better Mexican places we have already reviewed. The Service - 5 Stars (23% tip) We don't normally mention the names of our servers unless they are extraordinary, and Ana is! Our waitress was the epitome of what a great waitress should be! She was social, interactive, helpful, diligent and she did it all with style and grace! So for her superior effort we provided a 23% $17.00 tip. Ana is simply outstanding! In fact we would no t be surprised if Ana is the reason behind La Finca's high ratings. We typically provide 20% or more for 5 star service on the pre-tax portion of the bill, 18% for 4, 15% for 3, 12% for 2 and 0% for 1 star service. The Food: Table Chips and Salsa - 4 Stars La Finca's regular salsa and chips are average at beast, but you also get bean dip which is always a plus. And La Finca's hot salsa is simply five star fabulous. $3.25 Guacamole Special - 2 Stars This small cup of guacamole was not very "special" at all. The avocado slices were brown and the gauc itself was more tomato than avocado. Way too expensive for this poor quality and small portion. $3.00 Relleno Salad - 2 Stars The ticket calls this a relleno salad. What I actually ordered was Mexican Slaw Salad. This little salad was composed of iceberg lettuce, (no cabbage), tomatoes, onions and mayo that is way too runny. The flavor was slightly interesting but for three bucks this side salad was too plain. There is nothing Mexican about this Mexican Slaw Salad. $4.25 Kid's Cheeseburger - 3 Stars No photos for this item as it seems impossible to take photos of a kid's meal without them screaming bloody murder. The burger seemed rather average to me but did come with a drink. We ordered water, which does not discount the burger. $9.25 Burrito Rellenos - 3 Stars A year ago this entree was $7.25. La Finca seems confused about using the word "relleno", which refers traditionally to a stuffed poblano pepper. But there were no Mexican peppers in this entree, or any other entree we ordered. These were fried tortillas filled with chicken, topped with cheese and served with a Mexican slaw salad and boring rice. $9.25 La Finca Cheese Steak - 3 Stars A year ago this entree was $6.75 and included tortillas filled with steak, white cheese and onions along with either boring beans or boring rice. At $6.75 this entree was four stars, now it is three at best. $10.25 Regular Fajitas - 3 Stars The regular fajitas are steak or chicken and are as average as you get. $12.25 Texas Fajitas - 3 Stars Comes with grilled chicken, steak and shrimp, but does three shrimp really count? The flavor is quite nice but the portion is a bit too light for the price. Also comes with the same boring beans, rice and iceberg lettuce you have had a thousand times. However, the pico de gallo was a step above average. $10.50 Alambra - 4 Stars The most interesting entree we ordered. The dish is composed of chicken, beef, bacon, ham and chorizo with bell peppers and onions. It was also served with boring beans and rice. For ten fifty this dish it should have been a two plate affair, but the flavor was outstanding which made it our only four star entree. Why do most Mexican restaurants use bell peppers, when almost every Mexican pepper is better and more flavorful? Total Bill: $83.46 for four adults and two kids including tax, a generous tip and four $1.75 soda fountain drink. Final Thoughts: So Chef Iama Critic and his crew of Five Star Restaurant Review critics find themselves disagreeing with the majority of La Finca Reviewers. We find La Finca average at best. They don't use any Mexican peppers, the boring beans are rice are the same as most, and some prices have recently went way up. If you want great Mexican we suggest El Matador, La Yunta, La Parrilla and La Fiesta or Papa's and Beer's Mega Burrito. These suggestions range from top quality Mexican to value buffets depending on what you are in the mood for.

The best Mexican food I've tasted since moving here. The reason for only 4 stars is because i come from the Mexican food capitol of the world, San Diego. That's my standard. Nothing compares to that yet. Good salsa. Good special Vallarta.

The food was muy delicioso. We will definitely come back again. The fajitas were great as well as the carnitas. The prices were reasonable for the generous portions we were served. Great family restaurant.

Best Mexican food in Easley. Salsa is fresh and perfectly spicy. They also bring out a bean dip with the complimentary chips and salsa. They have a very diverse menu. The enchiladas are served a few different ways, although I wish they had mole. The Fajitas are very good and you can get them in a single portion or for two. The single portion is usually enough to share. There are a few seafood selections on the menu as well. Mostly shrimp served different ways, but they also have tilapia. If you see the pepper beside your selection on the menu, "Watch Out", Its really spicy. Just the way I like it. No bland food here. Food is always served piping hot and comes out very quickly. The horchata (a rice and almond drink) is the best I've had this side of the world. The waiters are always friendly and check on you constantly to make you feel at home. The prices are decent as well and the portions are huge. The desserts are good as well. They have traditional flan and sopapillas. They also have a dessert called Maria ' s cake, which is their version of a tres léchés cake. It is delicious. I eat here at least twice a week.

If you have been to the south, you may have already noticed that Mexican food can be hit or miss and often terrible if you like it the way Mexican people eat it. That being said, La Finca is delicious! They cater to the southern preferences but being from the west coast, I can also get what I am expecting. All the dishes are great. This family is dedicated to serving good food at a reasonable price. Dos Equis on draft and giant margaritas are available also.

This is your typical Mexican restaurant. It is our go to when we are in the mood for Mexican. The quality of food and amount you receive is a plus. It is better than Los Amigos that is practically right across the street. If you are in the area and in the mood for Mexican, give this place a try!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
