The food at this place is off the charts great - so much so that we make a point to drive here at least once each time we're in Myrtle Beach for the week! We originally discovered this place through Restaurant.com and what a find it was! Don't let the broken down truck sitting out front scare you off - you're in the right place! If you are looking for upscale dining, this is not the place for you; but if you want food that is cooked to order, by a mostly one-man operation (be patient if it takes a while!), then you will find this gem a treat! We've only seen a waitress twice in the 7 or 8 years we've been going to this hole in the wall, but the owner, while a little quirky, must have some formal culinary training! We've never had a bad meal; and the shrimp in garlic sauce is out of this world! Make an opportunity to visit and you are sure to go back!

Love this place. Off the beaten path in an old log cabin and you miss it driving if you are not careful. Locals go here so we thought for sure it must be good and it is. We went on a Saturday night. Just be prepared to wait. Very busy and a long wait but so worth it. Al you can eat calabash popcorn shrimp for $13 served with potato of your choice and slaw. Fries were ok. Slaw very good. Also were served with homemade hush puppies. These aren't sweet hush puppies. They have onions in them. We loved them. Seafood platter was huge. Deviled crab, scallops, oysters, shrimp and flounder. Perfectly fried. A huge portion. Doggie bag to take home. Served with your choice of two sides.sweet tea was said to be best in area and lemonade was good. $1/glass. Free refills on sweet tea. At night this is a two person operation. One cook. One waitress. So be prepared. Don't complain. She tells you when you walk in that it's busy. She's not ignoring you. If you can't accept that, don't go. They keep portions huge and prices low. We like that and are willing to wait a little longer for fresh seafood and not the touristy, overpriced places downtown. Can't say enough good things. Another waitress or cook would be nice but we will continue to go as is. Also, this place is cash only.

It's a small log cabin on 701 heading south from Conway towards Georgetown. Once you pass pitch landing Rd intersection where the gas station is on the right start looking on your left for Luvans. It's can be a Long wait depending on what day you go and it's warm inside but well worth it. Fish platter was huge and the all you can eat shrimp for $13 is so good. I'm pretty sure it's a Calabash style breading with fresh shrimp. Everything tastes fresh and nothing was over cooked. This is my first time going there and I will definitely go back. Onion filled hush puppies are served before your meal. Very good.

We were looking for a non- tourist place for lunch - Luvan's was just what we were looking for! Great food! Lives up to its reputation- one man show!

Luvans was a surprise stop. We were hungry and this was the last decent stop on the way for the next set of miles. It can be hard to miss since it is nested behind trees and the parking lot is gravel. The inside is homely with open boxes of decorations littering the front section. Handmade signs and other unique decor covered the walls. The sweet tea was delicious, A basket of hush puppies came before the meal. The hush puppies had onions combined on the inside. The crinkle cut fries were great and delicious. Overall, the food had a bit of oil and grease to it. But that's what made it delicious. A caveat: When we went there, the restaurant did not take credit or debit.

So unassuming yet so amazing; a little house, shack really, with 5 parking spaces. The owner was the chef and the waiter. A totally cool guy. The food, a combination platter of flounder, shrimp and real, actual scallops was so good I'll remember it until I'm a very old man! I usually only post here when disappointed. Not this time! Go! Eat! Enjoy! You'll thank me.

It's hard to describe Luvan's but a couple words that come to mind are delicious and unique. I guarantee when you pull up you'll first think, "Is this somebody's cabin?" Then the thought will cross your mind, "Oh gosh, I'm in Deliverance! Paddle faster I hear banjo music!" But no need to fret! In fact, if you get in your car and drive away, you're making the worst mistake and your taste buds will cry at the loss of deliciousness. If you don't notice any servers when you first walk in, just find a table and sit down, they'll get to you eventually. We showed up on a night when the cook was also the sever and cashier (I guess someone called in sick or something). He was hilarious with his dry humor and thick southern accent! Luvan's is small, hot and it took a half hour for our order to be taken and another 45 minutes before we got our food but you'll notice that even with all that I still give this place 5 stars! Sweet tea = A+. Hush puppies = A+. Seafood platter (shrimp, scallops and catfish pan fried in butter and Cajun seasoning) = oh.my .gosh A+!!! Seriously, this is the kind of amazing seafood you expect to come from Bubba's mama's kitchen! Overall, the food gets an A++ and the atmosphere gets an A+ for such a unique, unforgettable experience. Absolutely in love!

This is an awesome experience. If you are looking for upscale dining, this is not for you. If you want some good ole' Southern cooked fish, then by all means, join in. Don't mind the chief, cook and bottle washer, you can get him to make you laugh when he warms up to you. Great guy, great food. If he's busy, give him a break, the food is worth the wait. He aims to please.

This place is so different. The owner/cook/waiter/cashier was so interesting. Very laid back and phlegmatic. Our seafood platters were delicious. The prices are beyond reasonable. If you're an impatient person, this place isn't for you. I enjoyed the whole quirky experience.

Food was great. But the wait was very long. About 40 min to get drinks. But the food was very good, I had the seafood platter.

This place is an experience to say the least. First of all, I need to make one thing clear. I am basing my star ratings on what I am expecting of a fish camp, and some of the standards I would hold a normal restaurant do not apply here. If you are someone who is expecting clean as a must for your dinning experience this may not be the place for you. Luvan's is located pretty much in the middle of nowhere. It is in a log cabin with a large open dinning room. We were there for lunch early on a Saturday and were the only ones there except for the crusty old southern boy running the place. My son got the kids popcorn shrimp. It was a plate heaped full of shrimp and serrated cut potatoes wedges. The shrimp had an amazingly delicate breading. They were excellent. My wife and I got the seafood platter broiled instead of breaded. I got the large plate. It came loaded with a wide variety of seafood. (scallops, oysters, shrimp, flounder, and a crab cake) All the seafood was cooked perfectly. The chef proved to have a deft touch with the seasoning leaving the flavors of the sea to be the star of the show. Also make sure to try the hushpuppies. These are not your Long John Silvers hushpuppies. They are made from a very dense cornmeal and have healthy pieces of onion in them. They are not the least bit sweet, but are very good. 2 other things to remember is, 1.)It is cash only and 2)It is BYOB If your a seafood lover in search of a authentic dinning experience away from the bright lights of Myrtle Beach make sure you make the drive out to Luvan's. Just remember to stop for cash and a six pack on the way.

Ate here tonight for the first time it was very good, each order is cooked to order so dont be in a big hurry. Started with fried Calamari, they also had Calamri prepared two other non fried ways, cant wait ti try those next time!, We both had the house seafood platter, I had Fried Red had broiled, even the deviled crab was broiled.......we both thought it was very good and we both had a doggie bag. from the web site Revisit the South, the way seafood used to be served... fresh, cooked to order, using only the fresh caught bounty of the local waters. That's the way it still is at Luvan's. A no fuss, no attitude, roll-up-your-sleeves atmosphere where you can BYOBeer or Wine and enjoy generous portions of fish, shrimp, and or oysters with addictive onion laced hush puppies. Don't miss the Seafood Platter - brimming with Flounder, Shrimp, Scallops, Oysters and Deviled Crab or the housemade Oyster Stew. Come find out why author Mickey Spillane was a regular diner at this hidden gem.

My friend and I decided to try this place out and I'm sure glad we did! Richard the owner is so nice and such a wonderful chef. Once we got him to warm up and talk we had a real nice time. The hushpuppys are to die for! I had the catfish and she had the seafood platter. Both were wonderful. With a side of okra that was delicious. This place is definitely out of this world. If you don't stop here when your in the area your missing out! Cant wait to go back when I'm in South Carolina again!
