I'm thrilled that downtown Columbia now has a true healthy option for lunch. Everything I have tried has been delicious and light, especially the salmon salad (big portion!). The complimentary appetizers are a really nice touch (and quite tasty), and all their juices are wonderful. Inviting, open decor and great service. I just hope they will expand their hours in the near future to be open into the evening and on weekends.

I'm torn on how many stars I should give this rating...maybe I'll do 2 reviews, 1 with low stars and 1 with high marks so as to cancel eachother out, and here's why: Food never disappoints! However, today the service very much disappointed! Let me preface this by saying I worked in the Columbia restaurant industry as a server for many years. Now I work in a building across from M. Fresh, so I frequent the place...in fact, I crave the Thai Beef Wrap (yum)! I was there today with two friends and we all ordered the Thai Beef Wrap. About 15mins(!) after we ordered (the restaurant was not that busy) our server came and told my friend they were out of the cabbage and asked what other side she would like, she said the mushrooms (which she did not like, did not touch - server should've picked up on that). A little time after that, I asked our server about the food and how much longer he thought it would be b/c we were on a lunch break from work. In response he said, "I'm just as clueless as you abou it." Really...that's your response?! I said I understood that it was not his fault the food was taking a long time. However, (I did not tell him this) I certainly did not understand his response! I also did not understand (or even ask b/c I know it is a "freebie") why he did not bring us the complimentary slaw and edamame that I have always gotten...esp when our food was taking so long! And, he didn't even apologize when he brought the food! I picked up the check for the table...usually I am a great tipper, but I only left him $4 on $35 b/c it was just that bad (the tip probably should've been less than that, but I just can't do that). I did see the beef come out a while after we ordered...if the fact that it took so long was b/c the beef wasn't ready, then the server should've been aware and maybe come back and said, "you have all ordered the Thai Beef Wrap, just want to make y'all aware that..." In summary, servers need to know that they just need to be up front with their customers and not avoid what is not going right b/c it's worse in the long run, then someone leaves a bad tip and then writes a not-so-good review on Yelp! I'm done venting, Thank you, Ann

Have been to lunch about 10 times now trying everything from wraps to paninis. I LoVE this place. Every single time the service is outstanding. The food is beyond the pale and presentation is beautiful. Just recently had the spicy shrimp panini. Oh my gosh what a delight. It was a cold day and that warm, spicy, crispy sandwich hit the spot! My favorite drink is the pomegranate iced tea. I wish there was another one in my Forest Acres neighborhood open evenings and weekends because I would be there several times a weekend. This is my go-to favorite that I highly recommend.

Incredible fresh and healthy food at awesome prices. How is this place not packed?!! Get the Thai-style spicy beef wrap or the chicken pesto sandwich. Bombastic.

Went in to grab a smoothie. The place is very nice and looks to be mostly sit down but they do have To-Go. The smoothie (strawberry banana pineapple) was awful. The strawberries were super tart and there was zero sweetness to it at all. I have no idea about the food, only the smoothie I had and it wasn't great.

Good food, average prices. It smelled like chlorine when I walked in. Maybe that's a sign that it's clean? Any how, I had the hit and sour soup, California roll, and scezhuan beef. It was all good, the soup was exceptionally good. Good downtown Asian fix.

Just heard they closed and will reopen with slightly different menu. 1 star is because they closed. GREAT PLACE for lunch.

I love the food here!! Everything I have had has been delicious! My favorite is the salad with salmon! The service is quite poor which is a bummer since their food is so good!! I have had multiple difficult situations as a result of the poor service but overall I would say the products is worth enduring the poor service!! I love the cranberry cookie- not too sweet but delicious to finish off my meal!!

We ate here on a random late Saturday night. Service was good and fast! My wife and I split three sushi rolls, app, and an entree with a drink each and our bill was only 41 dollars. Can't argue with that. The sushi was my favorite part by a long shot. The app and entree were both oozing with oil, but not to the point were we didn't finish all of it. Maybe tone down the oil use a bit, but what the heck do I know. I would go back.

Just had the spicy salmon wrap. It was seriously good. The food here doesn't linger in my stomach like so many of the high calorie choices to be had in down town Columbia. The smoothies are really good.

I am constantly in search of the next delicious but healthy option while traveling. This tops the list from Virginia to Georgia. I'm indifferent about ordering at a counter or being waited on, but I love their style and the quality of what you're served. Pros: - Edamame and tasty slaw served right away as a meal accompaniment .So much better than bread! - Fresh juice and smoothies (real juice and real smoothies) on the menu - Huge salads with fresh ingredients - Quick service - AWESOME decor and style Cons - Terrible evening hours, closed by 6pm so I can never make it for dinner. But that might be downtown Columbia's fault if the restaurant can't keep busy enough in the evenings. I noticed Zoe's is closed early too. - I like the way Crisp in Uptown Charlotte tosses the salad before they serve it and the protein is cooked to order, i.e. their salmon salad is best I've ever had.

I did not have great service when I went here, my server had a real bad attitude. It seemed as if me eating there was a burden. The food there was not above and beyond, but then again it was not horrible. My rating is based on the service, the food I would have given 3.

Amazing fresh food. Had the spicy thai beef wrap with fruit salad. Coworker praised the shrimp panini and curry potato soup. We were presented with two different slaws to start, an apple and Asian slaw. Both great.

    M. Fresh is an oasis of healthy eating in an area almost devoid of nutritional options for dining out. I would highly recommend anything on the menu. There is one thing that gives me pause about a 5-star rating for this cafe. Part of eating clean and healthy is recognizing and respecting the connection between people, the food they eat, and the environment so I was dismayed to see everything served in giant, plastic take-out containers with plastic utensils. I can't be sure if it was trash or recycling, but I watched in horror as the staff filled numerous trash bags with plastic in the short time we were there. Even if the plan was to recycle, there are so many cleaner, environmentally friendlier options for serving the delicious food on M. Fresh's menu. If dish-washing isn't an option, there are plenty of biodegradable serving containers out there.

Fantastic healthy menu at a good price. Have had Teriyaki Wrap, M Chicken Salad, Fresh Green Tea, and a couple of smoothies with all being delicious. A welcome addition to the Miyo's Dining Group and downtown Columbia. Just wish they would open for dinner and/or weekend hours!!

Yes! Finally a place in Columbia where you can get healthy choices instead of the typical grease filled garbage that most establishments churn out! Woohooo! I tried their carrot & orange juice and it was delicious! Light, tasty, and guilt-free because it's so healthy. They also make it to order; when it was brought out I was told it was just blended. LOVE that! As others have pointed out, the complimentary starters are great. As soon as you sit down they hook you up with a plate of edamame and a plate of Asian coleslaw & beans. While all of these free starters are fresh and clearly made with great care, they ended up giving fairly large amounts, so by the time my food came out, I wasn't that hungry. I'd ask the managers to consider cutting back on the portion sizes and still giving them out, but maybe think of shrinking them by half or else they could end up wasting food and losing money. Other than that the flavor and quality-wise, no complaints on the starters. For my entrée, I had their vegetarian wrap and thought it was terrific. It was a burst of flavor, especially with the balsamic vinaigrette married with apple crisps, the fusion created a pleasant party in my mouth. Service was outstanding. The hostess was sweet and welcoming and my server Coty was awesome. He was very nice and really took the time to answer my questions on the menu and knew his stuff. He also made the Asian coleslaw and it was yummy :) They're only open during business hours so if you're able to squeeze in time to grab lunch, really worth going to. THIS is the kind of business Columbia needs more of!

We arrived before the lunch crowd which turned out to be a good thing, because by the time we were 3/4s through our meals we were literally dining WITH ppl we didn't know, almost elbow to elbow and there wasn't enough room for the server to really get in and refill drinks without bumping us (the seating/tables are cramped when it gets busy). I did notice AFTER other tables started filling up that the servers were bringing them complimentary slaw and edamame which kinda made me go hmmmmmmm... our server THEN finally brought it to our table after she noticed the other servers giving it to their tables (not sure if she was new, or if those ppl were regulars, so I didn't want to inquire)... sucks that she ended up bringing it like 30sec before our actual food came out. The food (Thai Style Beef Salad, Ginger Crab Panini) and juices (Kale & Ginger, Pear, Celery & Cucumber), were excellent. There are no complaints in regards to the food whatsoever!!!! I love that you can leave this place full, but not feel all disgusting and processed!!!! Wish parking were a little more convenient, but hey that's the city for ya!

Became a "Fan" of this local spot for 2 reasons: First -the food has always been fresh, flavorful, filling and with a host of healthy selections on the menu. Second - the proprietor of the business has proven herself to be successful in providing wonderful cuisine and service at all of their eating establishments; Miyo's , M Fresh M Cafe, Miyo's Forest Drive, and a few more. Though I've tried a few different items from the M Fresh Menu, I have found the Thai-Style Spicy Beef mango wrap with avocado, light mayo, & sriracha with Tree Mushrooms as my side, an absolute favorite. The tea's and smoothies are favored as well but I usually grab a water back at the office. We rarely sit in for lunch as they are usually ultra busy from 11 - 1 and the table s are all full - nevertheless, the atmosphere is energetic, pleasant and very welcoming... I love it!
