We decided on LongHorn to watch a football game on a Saturday night. We arrived around 6:45 and the place was practically empty - should have taken that as a sign. We sat in the bar to watch the game. The service was horrible. It was about 10 minutes before anyone asked for our drink order. The waitress seemed as if she were on drugs or something. When my friend ordered a sweet tea, she asked him why he wasn't drinking, when he said he just wasn't feeling like it, she responded by calling him a "weirdo". Extremely rude. I responded with a nervous joke - "he's driving me home tonight" to which she responded, "what? you expecting me to liquor you up that much?" At this point, I was extremely turned off and wanted to leave, and we should have. I ordered a margarita, where they bring the shaker to you and give it to you. I noticed something brown so I picked up the glass to examine. While I was examining, the waitress was starting to pour the drink, I stopped her and told her there was something on the glass. She poured anyway. It appeared to be BBQ sauce on the outside of the glass. She seemed completely unfazed that my glass was dirty. We ordered one appetizer and left. At that point we weren't enjoying ourselves and decided to watch the game at home. I know this is a chain and not a fine dining restaurant, however, on a Saturday night in the Vista, they need to step their game up. I probably won't go back.

I visited this Long Horn Steakhouse while visiting Columbia for the weekend. It was St Patricks Day weekend, so parking was truly a nightmare. However, after finding a space, we were able to go to the restaurant. We were seated immediately, and everything was timely. The waitress was nice and so were the others who came to check on us. Food came at a decent time, and was fresh and tasty. Their smores, brownie graham cracker dessert, which is new on the menu was pretty good too. I don't usually order desserts from restaurants but this one was tasty. One thing I really appreciated, was that the manager came and checked on us as well. I always appreciate that in an establishment.

YeeHaaw! This here wad of tobaccer's got muh lip itchin to ping a ding in a spittoon. Yes, this place is THAT cowboyed up! I believe guests get a 25% discount for walking to their tables bow-legged. The food is surprisingly good and reasonably priced for the Vista. I can't say anybody plans on going to the Vista to eat at Longhorn...but the crowds can sometimes push a hungry group there...and why not...they actually cook steak how it's ordered. They also have specialty margarita's that the ladies always seem to order...and we men like to taste heavily. They're a bit pricey compared to a man's simple drink...but they're pretty good. Try: The Steakhouse Dinner for Two

This was my first time going to Longhorn Steakhouse and I could have probably done without the cow heads on the wall... but alas, this was a nod to the Texas Longhorns... duh. The service was great... 5 stars actually, but I would say the food was only average. This is somewhat of a random restaurant as it's not necessarily high end, but you could probably find cheaper food at Chili's or Applebees.

Great staff. Decent food. I don't dig the Western theme, but that's a minor thing. I must have high standards for steak though, because while Longhorn's is a steakhouse, i wasn't overly impressed.

Came here with a friend for a girls' night dinner. I usually try to stay away from chain restaurants, but this was her choice. We came on a Thursday at 5pm before the dinner crowd rush. We were seated immediately. Our server was friendly and attentive. We ordered the fried shrimp for an appetizer, and the Flo's filet and a chicken dish for entrees. All were tasty. The food came out so quickly though. We weren't even finished with the appetizer when the server brought our salads, and then our entrees came out before we even touched our salads. In the end, we didn't even eat the salads because we had a feast of food before us. We were in and out within an hour. If I were in a rush, I wouldn't have minded the super fast service, but I kind of just wanted to sit and talk with my friend. The server didn't rush us or anything, so that was good. The service was good, food was good (not great, but good). Overall, I had a nice dinner. Tip: Check LongHorn's website for offers. I was able to get a coupon for a free appetizer by signing up for their mailing list.

The service was great. The steak, not so much. A medium sirloin was half shoe leather, half medium well. And I ordered the two extra ounces, but that was all gristle. So wanted it to be good. Oh well.

Service was whatever, food was okay, decor was cheap and tacky motel art...at best. What was Darden thinking?

I'm a little partial because I am a Darden employee, however I do not work at this establishment. I loved my steak and everything that came with it. It was my birthday dinner and I felt that LongHorn made it special (not to mention my 25% discount for being a Darden employee). I saved some money and felt special in the process. They were not terribly busy and we got great service.

I left the hotel headed for Five Guys and stopped here instead. The food and service were excellent. Their roast vegetable salad was unusual and very good. My steak was cooked perfectly and the margarita was good. I would recommend the restaurant and will probably return there on my next trip to Columbia.

The only reason I couldn't go 4 stars here is because there were just a few minor things that added up to necessitate the deduction. I went on a Saturday at 6:30pm during the dinner rush so I was sure to call prior to arriving to ask about the wait. I was told there was no wait. I arrived less than 5 minutes later and of course, I along with a family of four ahead of me both had to wait. No big deal except that my expectation was there was none. The dining area was clean and the table was set as it should be. The ambiance was definitely that of a chain-ish type steakhouse. I ordered the jalapeño shooters as an appetizer. They were not freshly made and were lacking in flavor. I enjoyed them ok, but would not order again. The warm honey wheat bread brought to my table was fresh and delicious. However, it's a light bread so I can't figure out why it was served with a slab of hard/cold butter. I would prefer the butter had been room temperature to facilitate spreadability without crumpling the entire bread slice. But that's just me. I ordered the porterhouse medium rare with a house salad and baked potato. I specifically asked what came on the house salad and was told: carrots, cucumber, romaine, iceberg, diced tomatoes, cheese, croutons and red cabbage. However, my salad contained no cheese, and I happen to think the 11th Commandment is "thou shalt always add cheese." You can imagine I was a touch disappointed. But as with the other rather minor complaints I had, it wasn't enough for me to say something about it. The porterhouse came out cooked exactly as I had asked and the baked potato was a classic steakhouse baked potato -- good earthy flavor and not too dry. The steak was certainly not certified prime grade, but was flavorful and satisfying. Nothing special but certainly nothing wrong with it either. If the local steakhouses are packed, this is a decent option I have no problem recommending to others.

The only time I am in the Columbia area is when I am here on business. Lucky for me I am staying at a place in between the Vista and Five Points. I came here one night with a co-worker. The interior is a little run down but has a homey feeling to the atmoshpere. The employees are nice, even the manager stopped by to check in on us and apologized that the dessert is taking a little longer than usual - as she sent it back thinking it was not completely cooked. My coworker and I completely appreciated that little touch that the manager actually cares and checks in on the kitchen. I ordered the prime rib and it was very tasty. My meat came with a side of broccoli and a salad appertizer. My coworker and I shared the fried green tomatoes appertizer and a peach tart dessert with ice cream. Next time I am in the Columbia area, I am definitely coming back.

Having been from Texas, I know I can have a jaded opinion here. I was surprised to have a pan cooked ribeye, no grill marks, nada. It was bland, best part of the meal was the baked potato and I can't complain about the portion size. It's a good thing I was hungry, or else I would have left half of it on the plate. Save your money, go somewhere else.

Great location. This is a good restaurant when visiting the area. If your not familiar with the area, take a stroll after the meal and enjoy Columbia. Parking is what it is for a metro community. Safe yourself time and pull into a lot for $5.00. There are several near the restaurant. Service had never disappointed. Leave a tip. Most of the servers./waiters/waitresses are college students.

Nothing bad to say here, but This is a typical Longhorn Restaurant with average food. The service was good, fairly prompt and very polite. It is what it is. The location is pretty cool since we were visiting from out of town it was fun to walk around The Vista area with so much going on.

The one in the Vista.. I will not go there again. I got a take out order, and there was a plastic latex glove in my salad. I called and talked to the manager and she said she was sorry. She took down my address saying she was going to send me a gift card for it. Needless to say. I never got it. I won't go back that that place again. .Just a fair warning!!

Let me be totally honest.... The only reason I'm here is because outback isn't open for dinner. I am currently sitting in a booth writing this because I am out of my drink and I have nothing to eat. There are currently more empty tables than taken tables. My food has finally arrived.... Undercooked... Why am I not surprised. To be fair. We did ask for a manager and she made it right but it shouldn't haven't gotten to that point

We went to Longhorn's Steakhouse in the Vista for a birthday dinner with friends and were a bit disappointed overall. We were a group of 7 so we got there a bit early and when we were all there we told the host we were ready for our table. He said a few minutes and that turned into about 30 or more minutes. They gave our table away to a group that came in after us. Then they asked if we could sit in a section with two table separated and we said no. We finally got a table that was a bit small but we made it work. Then we ordered two appetizers to share and they didn't bring us any small plates. We had a time getting someone's attention to get some plates. We were barely finished with the appetizers when our food came out. Three out of the seven entrees were not correct or cooked to order and we had to send them back. We were disappointed. We haven't been to this restaurant in a while and we decided next time we wanted a steak to try somewhere else. It has gone downhill.

Pleasant Vista Surprise! The Vista is known for its variety of unique, independently owned and operated, eating establishments right?? So what is this corporate America restaurant doing right smack dab in the center of Gervais Street - The mecca of cheer, beer, and bread?? I've passed by this place many a times, often wondering how it survived here. We ventured in, can't remember how or why? However, we were very pleasantly surprised! It is a very nice establishment! The decoration is very much over the top " Downtown Dallas Cowboy Steakhouse" almost to the extreme..but it does provide a nice warm and comfortable dining experience. It is clean and comfortable. The menu is typical corporate restaurant fare, not too many surprises here. But truly you can-not beat the prices- They offer a dinner for two for around thirty dollars. Two entrees, a couple of salads, a couple of sweet potato's with cinnamon and butter, a nice order of grilled cheddar stuffed mushrooms, unlimited hot honey wheat bread - WOW! The steak I ordered was an 8oz sirloin, cooked medium rare that turned out to be very good! The "Bang for your Buck" value here is good! Sure there are other, nicer, and definitely more expensive, steak houses in the Vista. But the people here are super nice, the service was very good, and the food was very good - overall, the experience was very nice! A nice place to dine in the Vista with out breaking the bank!

First off- it's a Longhorn Steakhouse. Don't expect anything unique, there is one of these in almost every moderately-sized city. I went here because I received some Darden gift cards, and Columbia does not have any of the other Darden chains within a close proximity to the city center. The fact that it is located in Downtown Columbia is very surprising. Most of the other restaurants in the Vista are independently owned and offer unique atmospheres and menu options. I do have to say that the staff was extremely friendly and definitely gave this chain restaurant more hometown charm! I'll definitely try more of the little restaurants around the Vista before I return, but if you're looking for consistently good steaks- Longhorn is a safe bet.

Then, the server returned with some bread and some other steaks. 5 minutes after the last steak was served he brought the salads. One steak was terrible undercooked and had to be sent back. Half of the table ended up finishing before the other half could even begin. I waited 10 minutes for salad dressing and was left with a cold, fatty, $22 filet mignon. The server did not apologize, no manager came over. It was HORRIBLE! After this terrible service and sub-par food I would never eat at a Longhorn Steakhouse again. We were a party of 8... should have been treated a little better. Don't waste your time or money here. I'm sure there are much better steak houses in Columbia...

I love Longhorn. One of my favorite steakhouse chains. This location didn't disappoint. Plus being in downtown Columbia it had a look to it that was pretty cool. As always, their portions are great....my staple of Caesar salad and ribeye cooked Medium worked out pretty well.

Not bad. Server was ok. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time. My New York Strip wasn't hot. Not even warm really. The sweet potato was excellent. The manager walked by our table several times without speaking to us, however, she did make it a point to speak to several other tables around us. As I left, I walked right past the manager. Nothing. Won't be going back.

It was better years ago, bread is good, service and wait can be bad at times. Steak is above average but not excellent, can be tough. I didn't think the salad was as bad as other reviewers. I would go back if some group was going. Otherwise, would probably go to Blue Marlin across the street.
