I can't express how pleased I was by this place. I went for lunch today and shared a few dishes with my friend. We had the soup of the day, which was simple and delicious, as well as the bruschetta of the day, which was almost like a really fresh hummus. We sat on the porch, which was very nice and quiet. The Siciliana pizza was die for, and our server, Taylor, was just great. I will definitely be back. If you appreciate fresh food and simple but authentic Italian, you definitely need to try this place out. We are lucky to have a place like this in Columbia.

The pizza looks promising, and, well, this is Columbia SC. But, something is missing. The crust is crispy, but it has a lot of oil and is somewhat lacking in flavor. Bad? no. But, my Italian pizzas are better and they don't hold a candle to the pizzas we get wandering around Rome. This pizza was worse than tourist pizza in Italy. Again, that isn't saying it is bad, and it gets a star for making a reasonable attempt in SC.

Had lunch here about two weeks ago and dinner several months before that and both meals were excellent! Between what I ordered and what my friends ordered that I tried I have had the pizza, the pasta rapini, the Praianese salad and the bruschetta. The hardest thing I will face on my next visit will be deciding whether to choose a new dish or repeat one of those as they were all outstanding! Service is efficient but not intrusive and the owners could not be nicer. The restaurant is casual and authentic Italian. If you are looking for a real taste of Italia this is your place. If your idea of good Italian food is Ragu or the all you can eat special at Olive Garden, keep walking.

Wonderful, wonderful wonderful. We love the food, the atmosphere and the folks! The owners are down to earth, friendly and so warm and welcoming. We feel right at home. We eat there several times a week and look forward to our trips there! We are never disappointed with the service, the food and the friendship we find there. I cannot recommend Il Giorgione enough! Please go!

The containers full of herbs are a clue as to how fresh the food will be. Make a reservation. Gio's fills up fast. It has become the go-to place in our neighborhood. On an ordinary night I'll run into my eye doctor, lots of USC professors, and friends from all over Columbia. We often start with a salad. The Caprese is our favorite--heirloom tomatoes and homemade mozzarella with a basalmic glaze. The Caesar and the Giorgione are also delicious too. If you like gazpacho, theirs is delicious--garnished with a spicy bit of watermelon pickle. The specials are neatly written on the board and recited by the friendly waitstaff. I have a hard time choosing between their pasta dishes and thin crust pizzas. It's all good. Save room for dessert. The owner makes his own gelato and sorbet--tasty and refreshing. The owners, George and Monica, live nearby and care about this community. The customers show their gratitude by donating original art and books about Italy. As stated by many other reviewers on Yelp!, il Giorgioni's is a gem of a restaurant.

Beautiful fountain when you walk up. Charming patio seating, however, we love sitting at the bar and listening to all of the regulars stop by and compliment everyone on the food and drinks. Wonderful menu... The food is delicious...the wine and beer selections are perfect. The owners and staff are friendly and provide the best service. Highly recommend this family owned business!

Great spot for lunch! I had the carbonara and if I hadn't been with someone may have licked the bowl. So good!

After living three years in Italy I am very disappointed. Small servings with little flavor. No restaurant painting itself as authentic "Italian" should serve cheap bottle Parmesan cheese. Why tout "fresh homemade mozzarella" and serve cheap Parmesan? I won't be back.

Went here over the weekend with my son and daughter-in-law - just wanted a light dinner and wanted to try some place we hadn't been. We each had pizza and thought they were all very good and the prices were reasonable - but we thought the place was a little pretentious - first off we arrived at 6:00 and the place was empty - only 8 people in the whole place and they asked if we had reservations; when we said no they asked if we could be finished by 7:45? Seriously - an hour and 45 minutes and they almost turned us away? The service was also lacking - almost like they were doing us a favor. The menu is somewhat limiting and when we asked for a pizza with different toppings we could only add to or delete from a descript pizza on the menu - REALLY! The food was a 5 but the service and unwillingness of the staff and kitchen to accomodate patrons will keep us from coming back.

The flavors at Il Giorgione are spot on but everything else is a little off. High top tables are not my favorite but that is all that seems to be present in the dining room. There are regular tables on the front and side patio areas. I liked the decor though. Fresh plants on the tables and a hutch of books across the from the bar. It felt a bit homey. Service was on the slow side but in my opinion, acceptable. She was super nice when she did make it by the table and was knowledgeable about the menu items and the specials. I had the potato gnocchi special. When it arrived my first thought was "Yum! Where's the rest of it?" It was a smaller portion than what I'm used to receiving at other restaurants but realistically it was probably more like an ACTUAL serving size compared to the large portions at other places. I was right about the yum part. It was seasoned with sage and included prosciutto which is always a winning combo in my book. The gnocchi were light and delicious. The dish was also not hot when it came out of the kitchen. It was barely warm. This item was $16.00 which I felt was a bit much for what I received and it was definitely one of the most expensive items available. I also had dessert - an apple cake with raisins and nuts and a cup of decaf coffee. Seriously, the coffee was some of the best I've ever had. If they were open at 7am I would swing by for a cup every day! The apple cake was also very tasty but I feel it would have had my taste buds in full swing had it been warm. It was room temperature. So while a bit pricey, Il Giorgione is a cool place to hang for delicious flavors.

I really enjoyed the ambiance, and my blood orange martini, while not a martini, was still absolutely delicious. I enjoyed my dining experience, although I think I would better enjoy dining outside in the courtyard or at the bar as opposed to the high tables in the dining room. The pizza special was excellent, and the prices were fair. This would be a great place for a date night.

I think this place is pretty good! Not the best italian I've ever had, but good nonetheless. I've had the pizza here which is of the very thin crust variety which I really like. Also the salads are fresh and contain arugula which is a nice touch. They usually have a nice bruschetta special as well. Good little local place!

I've been here on a couple of occasions and really love this place. They make their own mozzarella and their thin crust pizzas take me back to when I had visited Italy a couple years ago. The portion size is just right (although some would consider 'small' when compared to supersized American portions). The owners and staff are super friendly and attentive. I'm so glad that this little gem is a stone's throw from my house!

I went here last night - #tableforone - to get some dinner and some good carbs after eating nothing but protein and greens all day. I was happy to find out that they serve whole wheat pasta, which helps since in order to meet my current fitness goals I'm only really taking in complex carbs. I tried the caprese salad which was pretty good, but quite large for one. I didn't quite finish it, and would recommend that anyone who goes for the caprese to split it between at least two people. As an appetizer/salad, it really can even be split between four, but I digress. A very good caprese, with great presentation. The entree was a whole wheat pasta carbonara that was very good. Very flavorful, good-looking dish. This place must be a popular stop on Tuesdays (right?) because it got packed pretty quick. Couple rowdy fellas were at the bar next to me having a grand old time. Staff was very attentive and friendly. I'll definitely be back here for my italian fix in Columbia...also very glad it's walking distance from my place! Bonus: dishes are not terribly expensive and taste great...which was surprising. I thought it would be either pricey or taste like something out of a frozen bag, but neither was true. Good stuff.

Like a little trip to Italy inside of Columbia, SC. Flavors and food preparation is excellent. Service is good and getting better. Ambiance is nice for Columbia, and good on the patio. Most enjoyable dining experience, but there's a bit of a trick to it. First, sit out on the patio near a water fountain, not inside. Second, order a bottle of vino rather than the cocktails. Third, order the italian style: get an appetizer or salad, and also get a pizza or calzone or entree. That's a full meal. One dish alone ($8) is a light meal. This is my new go-to for date night out in Columbia. It would be good for kids too.

I will start off by saying the food was very delicious. Having said that we waited for a good bit for our order to be taken. When our waiter finally came and took our order, the manager came and pulled him away half way through him taking our order to attend another table. And we sat waiting even longer for our order to be taken.

What a great find! Our waitress, Morgan, recommended the caprese salad. It was easily the best I've ever had, and it was made with freshly made mozzarella that was made this morning. My boyfriend has never raved about food like he did about his meal. The pasta was al dente, and the portions were perfect. Walked away very satisfied and looking forward to our next visit.

Like a little trip to Italy, if that trip involves returning with regret, sadness, and a sense of astonishment at how Italy was reviewed so well by others. Il Giorgione is many things though and I need to touch on a few of those in the hope that others are not misled into trying this establishment. Let me begin with the soup as it was our first course and was a prophecy of what was to come. The dish, Tortellini in Brodo. This means Tortellini in Broth and that was exactly what arrived so I shouldn't be overly surprised. However, when a dish is composed of only two components, they must be excellent components and taste delicious. The broth was pale and lifeless in the wide shallow bowl. It tasted like the memory of chicken broth from a can. The eight tortellini pieces in the large bowl floated listlessly, stricken refugees in an uncaring ocean. This large bowl served a couple of purposes. First, it reminded me of how unimpressive the soup was, it seemed to know how silly the little tortellini pieces looked. Second, it made sure that you could only scoop half the broth up with your spoon. Thankfully, I didn't really mind as who would want to eat much of the broth anyways? Next, our entrees. My friend ordered a dish of Spaghetti Scuie' Scuie' which apparently translates into "Fast/Hasty Spaghetti," according to our waiter. I know why it was fast. It included about half a diced tomato, three basil leaves cut up, and some olive oil. The parmesan and red pepper flakes we sprinkled over it had more taste than the spaghetti. The only other reason I could imagine they called it quick spaghetti is that we all quickly developed a sense of regret for coming here. To sum this up, if you use chicken broth as a major component to a dish, do it well. If you make a simple spaghetti, do it well. If you use tortellini in a dish, use good tortellini. If you want good Italian food, don't go here. If you savor regret and hate flavor, go here.

I just adore this little gem of a place. Owners are always around and I love that they are so invested in the day to day of this. Half of the reason that I like this spot so much is their awesome awesome patio. It is so cozy and nice to sit out there on a warm night, great for a catch up with gal pals or a romantic date night. Although I know most people come here for the pizza or pasta, I typically get a salad and their soup of the day. I devour their ceasar salads, so fresh and light! I've enjoyed all the soups I've sampled so far. My boyfriend, however, typically gets a pizza or a calzone and he has always cleaned his plate. I also really enjoy their cocktail menu. I am aware that they have pitchers of bellinis for $15 on Thurs/Fri but have yet to check it out. Lastly, their prices are really spot on. Very affordable.

This is now our 6th trip here and the quality and service remain top notch. The food has always been authentic and fresh. We sat at the bar and had terrific service. We will be back.

Dinner with friends, and my husband and I order tortellini soup. The soup arrives, my husband's "soup" has 8 pieces of tortellini, I am jealous, mine has 5... The shells occupy a broth which can only be the sad remains of combining a quarter cup of Swanson's chicken broth (or brodo as they call it) with a gallon of water. - that's it, bleak, desolate, and flavorless might be too kind. On to the entree', Tuscana pizza, sausage, cheese, green things, shrug it wasn't terrible, at least within the ballpark of frozen pizza, but they need to take some lessons from Hunter gatherer on how to make pizza that actually tastes like something. - Fail. With scuie'-scuie' fail sauce.

I tried this place out with a few girlfriends and had a nice time. The portions are small but the prices are mostly low. So, plan to have 2-3 courses and know it will run 20-25 dollars. I had the Praianese salad which is a simple combination of greens, tuna, tomatoes, and mozzarella. It is served with lemon and olive oil. So simple, so incredibly delicious. The fact that the generous portion of mozzarella is house-made is what makes this really special. I also tried a pizza with salami that was tasty - nice crispy crust! I finished off with a slice of apple cake which was dense and delicious. I do wish it had been warmer. I tried a bite of my friend's bruschetta but didn't think it was anything to write home about. The cocktail menu is 'meh' but I have impossibly high standards there. I ordered an aperol sprtizer because it was one of the few drinks that didn't prominently feature flavored vodkas. It was okay but served barely cold. This is a time to really chill that champagne and pour into a chilled flute. At 8 bucks, I'll skip the drinks next time and maybe order wine instead. I would definitely come back here again. It would be a great little spot for a romantic date.

I am not sure what it is about Columbia and Italian food. Nobody can get it right. This place pretends to know what they are doing and that is a far as they get. Pizza is bland and boring. Pasta served at room temp and no magic here. Italian food should be simple and delicious. This is neither. Looking for good Italian, KEEP LOOKING.

One of my of my favorite places in Columbia. Food is so delicious and authentic italian. I am italian and am very picky about restaurant italian good but I've never eaten anything that wasn't amazing here. We are so lucky to have this place!!

Went there for the first time tonight for our anniversary. After living in Italy for 2 years it's the closest we've found to true Italian pizza crust as well as the toppings. Loved the bruschetta. Will be glad to go again anytime!

This is a great little Italian spot near Five Points. Their menu has plenty of options and the food is definitely solid! What I really like about this place is that their portions are just the right size for a person to get a comfortable meal out of it without leftovers and the prices reflect this. The food is great too (especially their fresh mozzarella!). My only gripe is service. You essentially had to flag the waitress down for everything and she did not do the little things like keeping water glasses filled. I was also a little miffed that she didn't say anything about happy hour specials or I certainly would have ordered more drinks! Oh well...

Great food, loved the atmosphere but the food took forever to arrive. Our party arrived about 6 p.m and it wasn't crowded at all but we had the foresight to have reservations for 6. The pizzas were nice- thin crust, incredible sauce. The pasta I heard was tasty but very small portions. They had packaged bread sticks at each table but would have preferred some warm bread and olive oil. We were on on our way to a show after dinner so we were all a bit nervous about getting out of there on time. The waiter was nice but not very attentive. We had to flag him down for refills. Will definitely give it another try as I feel they are still getting the kinks out in regard to getting to the food to the table. One hour is much too long and the owner did come over and apologize. Considering the circumstances, a free round of drinks would have been nice as we almost missed the show. All in all good food but service needs definite improvement. DON'T go there if you have a later engagement or give yourself at least 2 hours.

Great food and Service. Great neighborhood restaurant. Everything tastes fresh. It is really fun to sit outside with a big group but in colder weather the inside is fine. The owners are in residence almost every night...which we all know makes everything better. My favorites are the Cesar salad and pizza specials. The wine is nice as well. I could definitely eat here once a week and it continues to take me to a happy place.

This is easily my favorite place in Columbia. Amazing little Italian spot, very authentic, nestled in the Rosewood area. And holy moly, they make their own mozzarella!! Cuisine: I have been four times now, and the food has always been spot-on. The portions are on the smaller side of what you'd expect from the average Italian restaurant, which is really nice -- I always have room in my stomach for an appetizer, salad, entree, and dessert, plus a glass of wine. The Caesar and Giorgione salads are well-balanced and very tasty, the pasta is heavenly, and the Siciliana pizza... WOW. It would be worthwhile to return to Gio's just for this pizza. If you like thin crust pizza that is so good it melts in your mouth, then the Siciliana was crafted just for you. Seriously. For dessert, I am especially partial to the apple cake when they have it. Beverages: Gio's has a fun selection of beer and wine. I have yet to try any of their cocktails or martinis. They do carry limonata and aranciata, if you are looking for that. Ambiance: Gio's has an intimate, cozy setting that can suit any sort of occasion. Want to pop in for a casual dinner in jeans and a T-shirt? Fine. Celebrating a birthday or graduation? That works, too. Looking for a spot for that perfect date or anniversary dinner? Gio's is perfect. They also have seating in a lovely little "courtyard" area outside. Staff: Joshua has always waited on my table so far, and he is awesome. He's very cheerful and attentive and is certainly knowledgable about everything on the menu. I get the sense that he is super happy and excited to work at Gio's, which I suppose is not very surprising. :) I met Monica, one of the owners, the first time I ate here, and she is lovely. I was so excited to find this place that I think I hugged her...! In short, I love this place. Definitely worth a try.

Thanks to a Living Social deal I was able to get $16 worth of food and drink for a bargain $8, have to say this definitely helped with the experience! What was good: - The decor. They kept most of the look similar to what it was like when Virtu was around. The main difference was tall wooden tables instead of average length tables. The space still had a warm, calm, and inviting feel to it. - The service. The lady who greeted me was very nice and so was our server. - Accessible parking behind the restaurant. No meters, no quarters, and no time wasted searching for a spot, right on! What was mediocre: - The food. I had their Quatro Stagioni and subbed the olives and prosciutto with basil instead. It was served with a fried egg in the center which was really interesting. The basil elevated the taste and gave the pizza freshness that it otherwise missed with the other ingredients. The main reason the pizza was mediocre, and I should've said something when I got it (my fault), was that it came out cold. I think it was sitting out while they prepared my friend's pasta dish, so by the time they brought both out, hers was warm, and mine was cold. I also wasn't a huge fan of the artichokes on the pizza, they just tasted bland and lacked punch. I think the Margherita pizza would probably be a lot better as the basil was really good and I'm sure having more of it on a pizza would've been a hit. Next time I'll give it a try. - Slow service. While our server was very nice, she was still on the more laid back side. My friend needed a few minutes longer to look at the menu, instead of coming back in five, it felt like she gave us an extra 10-15 minutes before checking back. During lunch, ten minutes can feel a lot longer. - They have the same price for lunch and dinner. Most restaurants charge lower prices during lunch service so this wasn't the most pocket friendly for the area. If I didn't have my Living Social deal I probably would not have had lunch at Il Giorgione. Overall: I wasn't overly excited about Il Giorgione but I also felt it was a fairly decent first experience. I wouldn't mind going back and giving it one more try. Like I said the basil was great so I would be glad to get another pizza dish that had more of it, or even order the Tortellino alla Stefania which is cheese filled pasta, an entree that caught my eye. For wine aficionados, they do have a nice Italian imported selection, a plus for those who like a good pairing.

I yelped this restaurant when I went to Columbia to see my boyfriend graduate from the Army. We decided to go for a small intimate restaurant where we could talk and catch up. When we arrived we were greeted by the owner and his wife. Very friendly people, the food is very authentic and delicious. My boyfriend and I enjoyed our time there and when we asked for directions to a nearby mall, the owner was more than happy to write them down for us. Great service, great food!

This is a solid option for Italian with a semi-authentic menu and casual atmosphere. Perfectly pleasant, and we'd go back. Cute space, sweet waitress. I'd give it 3.5 stars if I could. It just didn't blow us away, and the place settings kind of turned us off (just too cheap looking). Pizza leftovers were great the next day, cold.

  • Ken J.

Perhaps it was an off night. We arrived around 6. Counting us there were 4 customers. The waiter a friendly guy. The food. Well different story. The caprese was quite good. The pasta very under seasoned. When asked how our meal was we both told the waiter and the owner the food was ok. Truly nothing special. The owner stopped by to ask if anything was wrong and we both stated the pasta tasted like the pasta water was not salted. She stated it was and ended the conversation. With the choices in Columbia spend a bit more get much better.

Wonderful meal. The Caprese Salad was easily the best I've had. They make the mozzarella fresh every day and it's sublime. Had the pizza for dinner - wonderfully thin and crispy crust. The wine was all Italian and superb. I highly recommend!

Not just the best pizza in Columbia, but the best food we have had period. If you don't know where it is, it is literally attached to the former Dianne's on Devine. Just park out in front of Dianne's and you'll see it. All wines are Italian (as should be in an Italian restaurant), and the food is clearly made by people who know and have traveled Italy. The pizzas are traditional, very thin crust, and very tasty. Mozzarella is made in house every day which is obvious when you taste it with any of their salads. I had the Prianese salad to start. Fresh arugula, Italian tuna, mozzarella, fresh lemon, and olive oil. That's it....simple and delicious. The mozzarella oozes a little bit of milk when you cut it, mixing with the olive oil and lemon, to form a dressing. The small portion of Italian canned tuna on top is a revelation for those who have only eaten Starkist or Chicken of the Sea. My wife's Caprese salad was also delicious. We had a Margherita pizza and the Quattro Stagioni, a "fpur corners" pizza with an oozy egg in the middle. Cut the egg and it oozes on the pizza. Yum. Crisp crust and a good balance of ingredients, again very fresh and their own herbs from out back as well. The desserts are also homemade. Our son had the chocolate gelato and devoured it. My wife and I split the little cannolis which are 2 bites each and were also superb. Since moving to Columbia from big cities, we always lament over the food scene here. Good restaurants are rare and we had sort of given up, just preferring to cook ourselves instead of waste money. Over dinner here, we kept saying to each other how excited we were to find this spot, and it's close to 5 Points! Our server Melissa also just moved here from Atlanta and studied in Italy with the same USC international program as George the owner. If you love true Italian (and PLEASE don't call Pasta Fresca true Italian), get the word out....GOOOOO!!!!!!

This is a new place on Devine St (next to Diane's) you will miss if someone doesn't tell you about it. The food was fabulous. Even the kids loved it. The place is geared toward adults but friendly to well behaved kids. We had salad, bruschetta and ham pizza. All was delicious. The wait staff was attentive and friendly.

The BEST pizza I've had since Sicily! Amazing thin crusted Napoliatana pizza w/anchovies, oh my! What a wonderful meal! My wife had the Scampi dish chock full of sweet local shrimp with a magnificent sauce. The salads were crisp and ever so fresh! A quiet refined setting, modern and with a lovely, helpful wait staff made our visit all the more delightful. 5 Stars for sure!

Neighborhood gem. Great authentic Italian food. Caprice (mozzarella made fresh daily) best in town. Wine list good (not extensive). Good bread. Staff friendly and knowledgeable. Owners genuine and delightful. Love the portion size. Good specials. Prices reasonable. Comfortable outdoor dining also. A favorite of ours.

Was introduced to this wonderful spot on Devine St. by a good friend and it truly is a gem of a restaurant. Full bar, great Italian menu, with fresh ingredients and very reasonable prices. Friendly and efficient staff make you feel right at home. Very nice, casual and cozy atmosphere. Highly recommended!

C and I really liked the romantic atmosphere at Il Giorgione. The pizza is cracker thin and cracker crusty, which we really liked. The service was excellent. The all Italian wine list is broken down by region (although we had to ask for a map because we're not knowledgeable about the regions of Italy). Somehow we forgot to order desert ... too bad. There is an outdoor patio, but it was just a bit too cool to sit outside. All four thumbs ups on this restaurant!

Ate here tonight and was pretty disappointed. The breadsticks were "made in Italy" but were prepackaged and tasted stale. My spaghetti with broccoli was bland and oily. My friends calzone was so tasteless that he actually salted it to give it some sort of flavor. We tried it because of the good reviews on here, but we won't be back.

This is a real gem of a place. My wife and I went there for the first time tonight and enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and service. It features authentic Italian pastas, modest size portions, and obviously fresh, well prepared food. I had the carbonara and it was just terrific. My wife had the Bolognese and it was good too. I did not see any of their pizzas but will try one next time. Prices are very modest and they have a good wine list and a full bar. This is a small family owned place and the owners obviously love Italian cuisine and are doing it right. On the walls are lots of photos and memorabilia from Italy and the TV above the bar features photos of Italian scenes. We went early in the evening on a Tuesday night and there were plenty of tables, but it was beginning to draw a crowd as we left. We'll be back for more. It is right next to Diane's on Devine. You can park in the lot behind the two restaurants.

I made two visits to Il Giorgione while visiting Columbia, SC. The chef uses fresh ingredients, blending herbs grown in his own garden to create memorable dishes. Try the artichoke/olive bruschetta for an appetizer. Pasta dishes perfectly cooked and seasoned. Pizza is crisp and thin, just the way I like it! The staff is very knowledgeable about the dishes and the wine list. Make sure you try the homemade gelato and sorbetto for dessert. What a gem of a restaurant!!

Most authentic Italian pizza and wine in Columbia! Come to Gio's and eat like an Italian, a delicious salad or soup (all homemade), then a pizza or incredible home-made pasta and sauce. Top off your meal with an authentic dessert and you will think you have been on vacation! Great wine selections as well as knowledgeable and friendly staff.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
