Not bad. The queso here is pretty decent.

I think it's a step above the typical Mexican fare you find in Columbia (and everywhere else, really). The salsa was super fresh, and I really enjoyed my fajitas, they had much more flavor than usual. Service was good, no complaints there. The only thing I wasn't super impressed with was the "jalapeno queso dip" which was actually kind of bland. I was expecting some spice, but apparently "jalapeno" does not mean what I think it means.

It's better than most Hispanic food places around Columbia I've ate at. It's a nicer atmosphere to eat in, but food tastes exactly like San Jose to me but is a bit more expensive. The Queso is the best and is what keeps me coming back several times.

I usually get take out from Casa Linda. When I do eat inside, it's usually tidy and the service is decent. My meals have been pretty standard for a Mexican restaurant nothing outstanding but nothing gross ether. You get chips and salsa with your meal. The servings are still standard, I was full after the meal. I don't go here often, it's just convenient because it's near my home when I crave Mexican food. It's not somewhere I would go out of my way to try.

Short and sweet... Everything (complementary chips, and my entree... Tex-Mex Quesadillas) came with a side of hair today (strand of hair strewn across the chip basket, and an eyelash or brow hair on one of my tomatoes)... Gag! I usually love Casa Linda and have never had a hair issue before (I usually get take-out but actually dined in today). Service was nice as usual... but this time I think I've lost my Casa Linda appetite for good.

Casa Linda is the the ultimate depends on the day experience. Sometimes you leave thinking it was great, and some times you leave thinking it was mediocre. The staff is always nice and the beer is always cold. When in Richland County (I live in Lexington) it is the only Mexican my wife can get me to go too.

Casa Linda is great, it's not close to where we live in Columbia but we make an effort to go here. Everything from the wait staff to the food/food portions and price are terrific.

Five stars? Lemme 'splain ... I am rating Linda's within the genre of "cheap american-style Mexican food" - a style that certainly has enough restaurants to warrant it's own category. Linda's has the trinity of this genre: - it's fast - it's inexpensive (two people can get out for under $20 easy) - and - this is the true test - it's fresh This is, as far as I can tell, the only cheap Am-Mex place in the Columbia area that has a variety of vegetarian options that are actually made with fresh vegetables (or any vegetables at all, in some cases - you know who you are). The veggie burrito was enormous and filled with freshly chopped veggies (not even frozen), beans, and rice. The potato dinner was great if you want to focus on mashed potatoes, which I did. If you ask for the side hot sauce, even better. And, as others have said, hot chips, good salsa (also, fresh herbs in it) - both plentiful. Service was excellent. They also have (at this time) $2.50 margaritas and a $1.50 taco night each week. Is it Tavern on the Green? No. Is it above average for cheap Am-Mex? Absolutely.

Average of less than three stars on Yelp? Now, now, that's not fair. Casa Linda is cheap Mexican food. You know what to expect, and they deliver. Things you know: -there will be tons of free chips and salsa -order some queso on the side, it's salty and delicious -your food will be ready very quickly -everything will be covered with the same red salsa sauce -it will not be the most high-quality food, but it will be affordable and it will hit the spot -the pitcher of margaritas is large and must be shared!

Come here all the time. Very friendly and delicious. They are fast like typical Mexican restaurants as well. Great deals on drinks during the week.

Tasty, inexpensive and fast. I ate with a group of 11 for lunch. Our service was excellent and very fast. My food, drink and tip was $10. Casa Linda also has a pleasant atmosphere.

The food is good but the service is terrible. Nothing can ruin a dinner faster than a bad waiter.

I was visiting my sister from out of town. We decided on this place because she had not tried it before, now I know why. My first margarita glass had lipstick on it, no bueno. The chips were good, cheese dip and salsa average. I got the special with stuffed jalapeños, which turned out to be poppers. Just think there has to be better in a college town.

Average Mexican eatery. Average service, but quick.

Look, the food here is not that great. However, you do get a lot of bang for your buck and if you leave hungry...well...that's your fault.

To quote Yelp, "Meh. I've experienced better." I recently went to Casa Linda for the first time in about 15 years. Let me start by saying that my rating might be slightly better if the restaurant was called "Linda's House: Mexican-ish Restaurant". But they bill themselves as a Mexican restaurant, so that's how I will grade them. I went on a Monday night. I haven't seen a restaurant this packed on a Monday night in Columbia in a long time. I found out it's because it's $1 taco night on Monday. I was compelled to at least try one so I ordered a soft chicken taco. It came on a flour tortilla with two grilled chicken tenders (as in, out of the bag, not even cut, just thrown on the tortilla) topped with a little shredded lettuce and shredded cheese, both out of a bag, possibly the same "salad kit" bag. I can see why it's only a buck, it probably cost about thirty cents. Chips and salsa: not the worst I've had. Chips are fine. They are tricky with the salsa. I'm about 90% sure it's from a can, but they add a little fresh cilantro to it. Cheap move, yes, but it slightly redeems it. So, this being a "Restaurante Mexicano", I decided to steer away from the Tex Mex and get a traditional dish. What I consider to be one of the mainstays of real Mexican food. So I ordered the tacos al pastor. I'm not even sure the pork was pork. It was drier than a bad Thanksgiving turkey. And really guys, canned pineapple. That made me weep. I mean literally, I should give you 1 star just for that. What an abomination to food. Anyways, the flavor of all the food was well, non-existent. I understand that 20 years ago international restauranteurs felt they had to temper down their food for mass appeal, but the American palette has matured since then. I'd like to think that we don't need our food to be bland anymore to accept it. And thankfully, even in Columbia, SC, that's evident by a lot of our newcomer restaurants. Quick sidenote, I was very tempted to give this place one star. The reason I didn't? Some people will still love this place. It' Tex Mex and it's cheap. If that's what floats your boat, bon appetit. If you want real Mexcian food in Columbia, go to Real Mexico on Bush River. Or go to one of the various tacquerias that have popped up. Even for Tex Mex, there is far better. My personal pick would be Hola Mexico on Two Notch. Otherwise, if you're looking for a fancier Taco Bell, this is the place for you.

Went last night for dinner and it was A great experience! Our server was good, even friend to make a couple of jokes. The salsa was way better than salsa I've had other places. But the star on the night was the pork carnitas!! I ordered it on a whim. Never had it before. It was SO GOOD! Like I actually paused bc it caught me off guard how good it was! It was so tender and flavorful! Would def recommend!!

It's Good Food Can't comment on the on the brick and mortar establishment- we ordered take out via 256togo.com . This service works very well. Fast, efficient, service right from your lap-top! The food portions are plentiful- enough for two meals Steak Fajitas-with bell peppers and onions, served with three flour tortillas and a side plate of rice, beans, lettuce, guacamole, pico de gallo & sour cream. The food is pretty common Mexican food- no surprises here- run of the mill, common stuff. I guess that's good for take out? Like I said at the beginning- It's good food

M D. is right. It does seem almost all Mexican Restaurants in Columiba are the same. Ditto for the Chinese Restaurants. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Casa Linda's food. However, these isn't much going expecially right either. The portions are fine, the servers are pleasent but frequently unable to take orders accurately in English. But I have never suspected anything other than the menudo was homemade. I have never thought for an instant that a nice old woman from Baja was back in their kitchen making things from scratch. One day I actually saw a guy walk by the kitchen entrance with a food service sized can of Old Elpaso enchilada sauce. Massive bummer. Still, this place scratches a certain itch for inexpeisive Mexican food that is geared towards non-Mexicans. They have huge beers and even bigger margaritas. On MOndays they have dollar tacos and beers so college kids hit the road to Forest Acres and belly up to the bar. However, if you are expecting the same taco quailty you get at The Whig Taco Feast, you are going to be disappointed! Side Observation: What fo Columbia's Mexican restaurants have against Dos Equis Special Lager. The all only have Dos Equis Amber on tap. Side Note Two: These guys deliver through 256togo.com !

Usually I can't complain about your typical Mexican restaurant. They don't do fancy, just good food that is by no means authentic but still it hits the spot. Service is typically good too but when it comes to Casa Linda on North Beltline its pretty much nonexistent and the management there is extremely unfriendly. The other night my running club and I had our after run meet up for food and drinks at Casa Linda. Granted we showed up with about 25 people and didn't call ahead but we knew that could mean having to wait awhile for a table. The restaurant was by no means in the weeds at all with plenty of seating in the back of the house. When we told the manager how many we had she basically scolded us like little children and told us that we should call ahead. Almost immediately we felt like our business was not welcome there as the lady told us to try and find seats ourselves in the back. I'm sorry but I don't think that's how this whole restaurant thing works. Anyways we sat down for about 30 minutes until we got a menu from the lovely lady who "sat" us with scowl on her face that said "f**k off." After thirty minutes more of waiting for someone to take our drink order we all stood up said no thanks and left. There really is no excuse for poor service no matter what kind of establishment you run. I really hope that woman adjusts her attitude towards her customers otherwise people will most certainly be venturing to better Mexican joints like Real Mexico and La Estrella. Probably won't head to Casa Linda ever again.

Columbia has many, many mexican resteraunts... San Jose, Monterreys, El Monterreys, and La Fogata to name a few... One thing though... THEY ALL ARE ALMOST EXACTLY THE SAME... Same fare, even sometimes the same pictures on the menus... Casa Linda is the only place that is different from the rest... And the salsa they give you at the table is much better (heavy on the cilantro). Yes they do have some of the good old standards... Its not a clone of the others.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
