Came here for the first time yesterday and it was absolutely delicious. I drove about 25 minutes from Irmo to try this place and I couldn't have been more impressed. I ordered the chicken finger sandwich on coco bread with their signature calypso sauce. It was AMAZING. The portions are huge, prices reasonable, and the food is delicious. The sandwiches come with house made chips which are well seasoned. We also tried the zucchini chips and potato salad - both were the best I've ever tasted anywhere. You absolutely must eat here, and eat here often.

I got the Escovitch Roti, so good. Everything can be made vegetarian or vegan friendly. I also got the zucchini chips which are crazy good. They have the best potato salad I've ever had (not your traditional southern salad, it's served warm). Not a single thing I ate was even close to bland all the way down to the homemade potato chips. Food was exploding with flavor in the best way. The staff was extra friendly and explained the food and favors to a tee. I can't wait for the harbison location to open. We were told they also have delivery. I will be a regular here for sure.

(9:00pm) Tried them for the second time, introduced my girlfriend to it because she wanted plantains. The prices are pretty reasonable. We ordered the jerk roti, one fish, one chicken. The first grievance was with the lack of jerk flavor in the dish. My girlfriend enjoyed her grilled fish roti, having a jamaican brother in law and tasting great Caribbean fare throughout Chicago, the flavor was not up to par. It wasn't bland but it didn't have any allspice flavor or any jerk flare, very subtle. All the food was sweet and the raw fries were soggy. The plantains were the worst I've ever eaten. They seemed like they refried them when we ordered them because they were so stiff when we arrived home and we only live 5 Minutes away. This should be the last time that I visit calypso, give them a try though. You might like them. The customer service was great....PS they use the Food Lion bags, and they ran out when our food was done lol good thing we just left Food Lion lol....... (12:07am) after further pondering and enlightenment I've realized that due to the horrendous overall level of the plantains this place deserves 1 star

Worst experience ever! Horrible customer service! I ordered dinner using their online ordering and was quoted a delivery time of no later than 8:50pm. 9:00 rolls around and still no food. I called the store and the VERY rude girl that I spoke with tells me that she didn't notice my order until now and that it would be another 45 minutes to get it delivered to me since her manager was already out on a delivery. I asked if she could refund my delivery fee/tip if I came and picked it up (since I had already pre-paid for delivery) and she told me no, that they couldn't do that, but that she would have my food delivered by no later than 9:45. 10pm rolls around and STILL NO FOOD. I call back and ask for the manager who tells me that the cashier i spoke to before changed my order to pick-up and that my food has been sitting there for an hour waiting for me. She then tells me that she can deliver it now if I want. When I told her that I didn't want hour old food delivered to me, that I just wanted my money back at this point, she rudely told me that I would have to call their online ordering service to request a refund... REALLY?!? Ugh! Worst customer service experience ever!! So not worth the hassle... will definitely not be frequenting this place anymore!

I have never put a review on Yelp but after ordering takeout from Calypso I felt the need to do so. I ordered food for my entire family and they loved all of it. I ordered the fried zucchini, festival bread, Jerk Roti basket, and chicken wings. Everything was excellent. The portions are very big and the fried chips are awesome. I highly recommend Calypso. Huge portions and great prices.

Good food. Friendly staff and a passionate manager. I don't see why this place isn't packed 24 7. The manager greeted my girlfriend and I the first time we tried this place and he really seems to enjoy what he does. The food is excellent and I can't get enough of it. It also doesn't make you feel like your arteries will clog up and kill you from eating it. Try this place right now if you haven't already!

Ordered from here for the first time. Chose delivery and it arrived very quickly. (Within 30 mins) Food was still hot when it arrived. I ordered the bread less chicken, festival bread, and a side of chips. The festival bread for some reason was not what I expected but was very good nonetheless. The butter that came with it was good also. The chips were fresh and very tasty. The chicken looked odd. It was actually watery and under seasoned. The calypso sauce was delicious but didnt make up for the lack of seasoning in the chicken. I used it for my chips. I would probably eat here again but try a different kind of dish.

Please try this place friendly staff and the food was so good. Had the beef patties its Caribbean empanadas these were so flavorful and had such a great spice to them. Comes with some great chips. My wife had the Calypso Roti basket great grilled chicken with lettuce and onion and some green pepper with the calypso sauce on the side this was so good I was dipping my beef patties in the sauce instead of the ranch sauce that comes with them. Can't wait to go back. Want to try something else.

Very nice mix on the menu with what I would call a hybrid mix perhaps even slightly Americanized Carribian menu. You won't see any oxtails or stuff like that. What you will see however is food that looks more like American fare with Jamaican influences(very nice if you ask me). Almost everything here can be eaten without fear of a guilty conscious. Very friendly staff and reasonable prices make this place a MUST TRY!

Amazing food...great service! I had the tilapia bowl with zucchini. It was delicious. My husband had the wings and thought they were wonderful. The kids had the chicken strips and were very pleased. The best part is definitely the calypso sauce. Yum! This is one of my new favorite places.
