This location has been open for five years and does not have a review?! Surprising for a top notch restaurant with great drinks, tasty food, and fantastic service in an area that does not have too many options outside of fast food joints. Granted it is a chain, but still... I was in Columbia on business and stopped in for dinner on a recent night. I timed it right and caught the end of Happy Hour and got in on the perfectly crafted 1/2 price martinis (bonus coming from Chicago where there is no such thing) with bleu cheese olives, yum! From there I moved on to beer and the bartenders were very knowledgeable about the different styles of beer they offered and what would complement my order. I settled on a Belgian Style Ale brewed in the region, and it was the perfect choice with my grilled salmon sandwich. Everything about my dinner there was great; the service was top notch, the food was delicious, the drinks were perfect, and it was just a great experience, I look forward to getting back there very soon!

Nice place, friendly wait staff, good food. Can't beat the bang bang shrimp, especially on 5$ bang bang Wednesday. Had the white tune tacos which were pretty good, but not too filling. Nice place to stop by for a beer as well. I just wish they were open a little earlier for lunch on the weekends.

Good fare for a chain restaurant. Probably a little pricier than it should be, but it's some good eating.

I have to give a less than stellar review due to a weird incident- the entire bottom of my water glass fell out into my lap when I picked it up--along with the FULL content. The manager came to the table, moved us to a new table and basically suggested that this 'happens'. Not just with their water glasses but also with their beer glasses. No offer to comp even my $2 add on salad. I was extremely disappointed in the response. The food was fantastic, as always.

Wow, this place was great. Went here last night, with 1 boss, 1 co-worker and her 2 kids and her mother. It was loud, dark and crowed but we were seated pretty quickly. (Close to our reservation time). Our waitress was great. She was smart, accommodating and good with the kids. Being that I don't eat any seafood, I can not comment on that, but I had a nice house salad and a pork dish that was fantastic. The cocktails were good and everyone seemed to enjoy the meal. I would definitely go with friends again.

Love their Bang Bang Shrimp! Had dinner there recently-was good, but especially enjoyed the Beet, goat cheese salad.

Wow. What a find. Super fresh fish. Dark, cozy decor, and superb service. I had the grilled shrimp and scallops and we started off with the Bang Bang shrimp. The appetizer was loaded a little too heavily with cream sauce but it was delicious nonetheless. Everything was fresh and was perfect!

My favorite chain restaurant. Excellent seafood. Great appetizers and happy hour specials.

Solid service. Probably some of the best in Cola. Menu selection is good and food was cooked to perfection. BangBang shrimp app is a must. WHY WOULD THEY SERVE/STORE RED WINE COLD? someone must correct this.

Had a good meal on Wednesday. Bang Bang shrimp is offered as an entree with a cup of corn and garlic mash potatoes, and some steamed veggies .. tap beers are $1.00 off on Wednesday. The shrimp is on special price on Wednesdays also. Check early arrival discounts as well. Server was excellent, food was just great, as per usual. Nice atmosphere, definitely a premiere place. And great out door furniture groupings under the entry porch. Overall, this place is among the very best in Columbia, no matter that it is a chain.

After a long but fun day of exploring the zoo, we headed here at the suggestion of one of our party. Usually I'm loathe to review chains (restaurant or otherwise) because I figure they don't need the extra notoriety. However, for Bonefish Grill (henceforth, BFG - both for the Roald Dahl and Doom shout outs, of course) I'll make an exception. We arrived on the early side of dinner so were seated immediately. I knew our server was going to be good when she brought a set of crayons and a kids menu on her first pass for the toddler of the group (and was genuinely interested in her new stuffed zebra). She maintained an equally high standard for the rest of our meal, keeping our drinks filled up and checking in when needed. Speaking of drinks, special mention for their iced, unsweet tea. So good by itself with actual tea flavor, you might not need to add sugar (and yes, I said unsweet - being a non-native southerner, I just can't rock the southern sweet tea. It's usually way too sweet for me...like onset diabetes sweet). Having burned a fair amount of calories hiking around the zoo and gardens, we ordered two appetizers, the bang bang shrimp and the calamari. Both worth it. Order them. Trust me. The supplied ciabatta bread and olive oil were good too. I ordered the Imperial Longfin as my entrée. Here's why (quoting from the menu): "pan-seared, baked and stuffed with shrimp, scallops, crab meat and lemon caper butter"...it's fish stuffed with THREE OTHER KINDS of tasty sea protein. THREE. Plus butter. I did hold back on the sides though and went with two veggie options, the house zucchini special and sliced tomato with balsamic vinegar, feta, and basil. All our entrées arrived in short order and were excellent. So overall, worth the trip if you're feeling like some seafood. Reasonably priced considering the quality and service. Easily would be part of my restaurant rotation if I had one in my nabe.

This past weekend was my first time eating here. I had heard a lot about it but never went. The food was great. I am not a fish eater but I love other types of sea food. We started the night off with the calamari and a cocktail. Smaller pieces would have been better for me but it was cooked perfectly and was lightly seasoned. The Asian sauce was a great compliment to the appetizer. My entree was the stuffed Longfin. Remember I'm not a fish eater, my friends talked me into trying it again. It was delicious! I guess they have made a believer out of me. We ended the night with key lime pie. Very good not over powering. The service was great too. Our waiter was polite and very helpful with the choice of fish I should try to the brand of vodka in my blue cheese stuffed olives martini. Yum. A great experience. I will go back and maybe try a different type of fish.

Not as good as Harbeson for some reason. Service was a little less as well. Still a solid restaurant, especially for Columbia. If you are in the area of Forest Drive, I'd go the extra 5-10 minutes northeast to Village at Sandhill where you have a full selection.

I've been going to this Bonefish Grill for about 2 years now. The whole time, Scott and Terrel been the owners and run the place very well. The atmosphere is great for intimate conversations. The music isn't too loud and seating is comfortable. Bonefish is a chain that doesn't feel like a chain. Their food is consistently cooked and you can always expect great services. I like everything on the menu (yes, I've eaten everything on the menu). Their wines are OK for a chain. I'm a red wine fan. They have specials always to mix things up. And, if you go during the winter season, and they have chocolate creme brulee, get it. It is to die for. The flourless brownie is great. The key lime pie is nice. And, the Jamacian coconut pie is heaven. The barstaff is awesome. I often just eat at the bar and end up having a nice conversation with the bartenders. If you want to get a quick, nice meal with great atmosphere and reasonable service, this is the place to come. It's a great place to take first dates too.

This place was wonderful, I had the Tilapia and the Shrimp that was on special on Wednesday. It was a great atmosphere, all be it busy, but the staff was friendly, the food was good and the wine was even better!

I recently visited this location along with some old friends and we were very pleased with our experience. We visited mid-week so getting seated quickly was not a problem. We ordered drinks and were pleasantly surprised by the cocktail on the specials menu. Named simply The Mule, it is their take on a Moscow Mule and features a delicious, if less ginger-y drink but made all the better by the garnish of spicy sweet candied ginger adorning the burnished copper mug. Lovely touch--I will have to borrow that for when I make these at home!! And be careful if you order these--they're sneakily smooth going down. We stopped at one because a second drink would've had us all in over-sharing mode :-) The grilled seafood was good--I had the salmon while others had the rainbow trout and the crab cakes combo. I enjoyed my salmon simply, but you can add interesting sauces like lemon butter, herb pesto, and mango salsa to any one of the main grilled options at no charge should you feel the need to spice things up a bit. I didn't think it needed it, but it's nice to have the choice! Entrees served with two sides--a seasonal veggie (that day was yummy sugar snap peas) along with your choice of regular or deluxe sides (for a dollar or more extra). I opted for the sweet potato mash, and it was great, but I was coveting my friend's white truffle Mac & cheese from across the table! It was greasy but good--and worth a try next time. Only downside is that one of my friends ordered the Baja fish tacos, which are typically made with tilapia, but had to change his order because--on a Wednesday night before 7pm--they had run out! Several of their combo and specialty meals featured this, so it was either an ordering snafu or maybe all those dishes are just that good?! Either way, the staff was courteous about reordering and he was pleased with his second choice. Overall a good experience from an established chain--I would come back if only to spend more time with my lovely old friends!

Spent Sunday afternoon in Columbia. Leisure afternoon at the Museum of Art and then went to an early dinner. To satisfy everyone and try something new, Bonefish Grill was suggested. Booths were very comfortable and spacious. Not the usual size, these booths are extra large. Which we enjoyed. What we did not car for was the choice in music. Techno music just did not fit the atmosphere or décor of this restaurant. Do not know who decided on it, but someone else needs to rearrange the selections. Try the mouth watering fish and chips. Another great dish was the grilled shrimp and scallops. Be careful, heavy on the pepper. Zucchini was slightly raw. Supposedly there were grilled, but someone forgot to test them before placing them on the dish. Ordered Calamari for the appetizer. The bowl was full to the brim, but very salty. The salad Had wonderful tasting greens and tomatoes, but very heavy on the balsamic vinegar. It was overpowering and demanded several glasses of water. The menu was very diverse. Burgers, tacos, soups, salads, steaks, pork chops and of course surf & turf. Waitress was top notch. Great service. Informed waitress about the AARP discount, which she had to verify with management and they only approved a 10% discount instead of the 15% AARP members are entitled to.

I went twice there with friends. It is a kid-friendly place. The restaurant is clean. The tuna tartare and the Seabass with the mango sauce are excellent. The rest of the offering is average for a chain restaurant. The service is friendly. It's easy to park.

The hostess are so rude here as soon as I walked in the girls were looking at me like.... Uh can I help you with something... Haha. The food is the same as any other bonefish but it takes a little longer here and the servers aren't aware of all of the sauces they have to offer.

I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience here at Bonefish Grill. My husband and I had a fantastic date night. The ambience is nice, with dim lighting and light music playing. Our waitress was attentive, friendly, and gave great advice for our entrée. The food was delicious and fancifully prepared. This is definitely a place we will visit again.

Very disappointed with the food and service today. The server didn't seem to notice my empty drink the entire meal and I can't say I enjoyed my cold fish and chips. I had one of my best dining experiences at the Charlotte location but this is my 5th time at the Columbia location and it's just horrible. Stay away!

I go for the fish and chips, which are fantastic, but the place is usually super cold (no matter the time of year) and the music is loud and awful. But man, the fish and chips are great :D

If you've not experienced a Bonefish Grill, then you need to add it to your list. Nice, upscale atmosphere. The sound of people enjoying their evening, busy bar scene and a well rounded menu designed for everyone. Prices are more than reasonable, drinks too. My wife and I travel a bit and BFG is always a comfort to find in any town. Great job Bonefish Grill team!

Pros: Upbeat atmospher and great service. Cons: food was not worth the price. We came here just to experiment with the place because it has good reviews in yelp. Well, the bread is good. I ordered a fish tacos and my gf ordered a grilled Mahi Mahi....keep in mind we are both hungry and you know if we are hungry everything taste good. Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the taste. Its just like a regular fish from regular restaurant. I felt like I just wanted our money eating there. We probably not coming back anymore . We left unsatisfied because of the small portion and boring taste.

Quaint little place. I ate at the bar. Bar tenders were very nice and on top of their game. First visit here. I'll be back. Tried the Ahi Tuna Sashimi. I really enjoyed the food. Definitely comin back. All you Yelpers. Try this one. As thy say in Tibet. Werry werry nice!

Went to bonefish hoping for a good martini and an amazing dessert... Got neither. Ended up opting for a glass of red wine, my go-to cocktail because nothing on their martini list was inviting (maybe just my taste). Got Key lime pie to go...now at home and REALLY disappointed. After about 3 bites I have a film in my mouth and don't care to revisit one of my fav desserts (when done well). Prob won't go back. Service was somewhat abrupt. Really nice outdoor patio suited for drinks more than for dining and not heated.

I was hungry, and it was late... About 10:30 pm and thankfully their kitchen is open until 11:30. I ordered the ceviche and the wagyu beef potstickers for appetizer. The flavor of the ceviche was good, but I did have some issues. Now, granted, I've never HAD ceviche before, but I watch the food network all the time. And I recall the chefs tearing into one masterchef contestant for their ceviche being too chunky. It's supposed to be finely diced. Not so with the ceviche at Bonefish Grill. Their ceviche features shrimp, scallops, and fish. The shrimp were whole, and also the scallops. But the scallops were rather tiny anyway, so it sort of made a contrast to the huge chunks of fish. All the veggies and dressing were in the bottom of the cup, I would have liked it mixed a bit better. And the kicker? They served it with tortilla chips. If it had been finely chopped like ceviche is supposed to be, I could see eating it with a chip. But as large as the chunks of seafood were, eating it with a chip was impractical. I asked my waiter about the lack of dicing and he told me that corporate decided to serve the ceviche as large chunks. If that's the case than I would suggest leaving the chips off entirely. The wagyu beef potstickers were yummy. Tender, flavorful, and a nice portion. They had a merlot marinated steak on special, so I had that with a side of crimini mushroom ravioli. The steak was wonderful . Tender and with a spot on cook. It was served with what I was told was summer succotash. In the south that means yellow corn and Lima beans. And that's what I was expecting . That's not what I got. After mentioning that it tasted like the Lima beans were underdone, my waiter informed me that their succotash was made of corn and edamame. A few more bites and the flavor was ok, but I still didn't care for the texture of soft corn and firm edamame. The mushroom ravioli were served swimming in sage butter. I really wish they would have said that, I would have asked them to leave the sauce off. I don't much care for sage, especially fresh sage, and the clarified butter soaked into the pasta and to me made it taste oily. I ended up asking for napkins and dried the ravioli off. The lingering butter and sage still almost overwhelmed any mushroom flavor. How disappointing . I didn't stay for dessert. I have to say that I would order the ceviche again, because the flavor was good, but I still look forward to trying the real thing someday. Hope this was helpful. Enjoy!

Took the wife here for our Anniversary and enjoyed the food the service and ambience. The margarita was Fantastic! The wine was good. The corn chowder was okay but I probably wouldn't order it again. The bread was excellent with the herbs and olive oil. We both ordered lamb chops which were very tender but room temperature. The deserts weren't so good to me I had the brownie w/nuts and ice cream the wife had the Key Lime pie I probably wouldn't do the deserts again. But despite all this had a FANTASTIC anniversary and would come here again.

The food at Bonefish was awesome, but the flavors were exceptional. Presentation of the food was great. A host of items on the menu, offering something for the whole family. The shop is both clean and tidy, having plenty seating space and a nice bar. Staff members there greeted us in/ out when we left. The Bang Bang shrimp was the Bomb!!!!

  • Lisa B.

I have to start off this review by saying I am NOT a fish fan. I had a steak and my boyfriend had shrimp, which he liked. I'm not sure what market Bonefish was trying to compete with and it's appearance gave me a more upscale appeal with a medium scale menu. I don't think there were a lot of choices. The bread was good. I'm always a bread fan. I had my usual tea and it was good. I'm a huge fan of a good tea. I learned down south you do not ask for a black tea, they have no idea what that is. Sweet tea or not, that is your choice. So all in all if I had friends that were seafood fans this would be a nice place to go, but I won't be going back any time soon.

So I intended this to be a special culinary treat as I abused my body in army training BUT then I discovered their great happy hour! The ceviche is better than I had in Spain where they invented it! Only $5 during HH and it's healthy! And the drinks are CHEAP too although my trainings so intense I can only have one. The food I've had here is all 5 stars on taste. The ambience is classy. I even saw a celebrity here last week! Actually 2!

It had been a while since I've been back to this establishment. I didn't have high expectations but soon changed from the moment we were seated to when we had left. We were celebrating a high school graduation and when they sat us down it was nothing but professional. The menu had a variety but what I didn't know was that their seafood was fresh. It was so fresh that I had to order the seafood civecha twice. They had mistakenly forgot to add my wife's order so when everyone received their plates the waitress automatically notice and apologized. She must have been empowered to make the decision to tell us that she would not have to pay for her entree. The waitress must have told the manager immediately and also came to apologize and explain the her plate will come shortly and she would not be disappointed. He was in fact right. The steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly with the temperature just right.our party of eight had such a great time and then the waitress asked us if we cared for dessert. I was a little full but asked for the menu. Let's just say that the Strawberry Shortcake original recipe was devoured by 4. I would definitely come back here again for this fresh seafood and the strawberry shortcake with the sweet biscuit.

Well I had been here before and it was good. So I decided to go back and all was well UNTIL I saw the cockroach running across the wall and the manager scooping it up with a paperbag. YUCK COCKROACHES!!

Great food at a reasonable price with decent service. Started with bread, which was delicious. Ordered Bang Bang shrimp as an appetizer, delicious and actually way more than I expected, probably about 12-15 shrimp brought out over lettuce in a small oval shaped, bowl like dish. Had the Lobster grilled cheese with lobster bisque. Entrée was filet and shrimp with broccoli and succotash and lobster man and cheese with lobster bisque and couscous. Everything turned out to be some of the best I had tasted, which was surprising being that this is a chain restaurant. Not often do chain restaurants deserve a 4 star or higher rating. Really want to give 4.5 but cant. A better drink selection and a little better service would have warranted 5 stars for this Tuesday night.

We had the bang bang shrimp, Hawaiian martini and the Chilean Sea Bass. All of it was amazing and the staff was very friendly. Our waiter was honest about the food when we had questions instead of just telling us to go for the more expensive food, though I did anyway haha. Their Bloody Mary though was horrible though as it had way too much horse radish. It was very thick and was like drinking cocktail sauce.

Excellent seafood restaurant, flavor-packed dishes served in a charming, cozy atmosphere by friendly and efficient staff. We started off with the Bang Bang Shrimp, very flavorful and moist shrimp with a tangy glaze. House salads were nothing special. Bread was good. For entrees, we had the Imperial Longfin Tilapia and the Ocean Grill Platter for Two. Very fresh, quality fish, good portions, and good value overall. Finished with the Chocolate Créme Brulee, which we enjoyed very much. Sweet and light, yet not too rich. Highly recommend this place.

Being seven plus year veterans of OSI (I was a bartender and he was a kitchen manager at Outback) we have had our fair share of dinners at Bonefish on Forest Dr. We have never had a bad experience until today. We came to celebrate our birthdays with family and were greeted promptly by our server Jordan. He took our drink order and was friendly but forgot our two year olds drink order for about ten minutes until we reminded him. Our appetizers came out in about twelve minutes and everything was delicious. We placed our order when our appetizers came out (slightly later than we would have liked but understandable with tables filling the restaurant) My salad came out about twenty minutes after ordering....my one salad. It could have been twenty five ... im trying to give them the benefit of the doubt at this point. I would guess the ticket time for our main entrees to have been about 45 minutes total. I am aware from years of experience that this is incredibly unacceptable. The manager did make a table visit after we prompted the server by mentioning how long the food had taken. Our steaks and fish were all cooked to order and food was generally up to par but we did mention again to the manager that we had waited quite a long time...especially with a toddler in tow. He apologized and said he was usually aware if tickets are running long and apologized that he was unaware of our ticket time and said he would find out what happened. Im assuming he didnt know about our ticket time either because our server did not inform him or because he was unavailable while he was seated at another table of probable regulars for about 15 to 20 minutes. Is there only a FOH manager on Sundays? Seems like if there was a BOH manager he or she really should have been responsible for keeping an eye on ticket times....anyway. im generally pretty forgiving amd understand mistakes happen....I just feel the follow up was poor in this situation as we were offered three boxes of a chocolate biscuit but no compensation for our wait time. I am not one to look for handouts or free food but I do believe that a wrong should be righted in some way more than a piece of chocolate.

:) Ok OK! The BANG BANG shrimp is actually really delicious.. anything in a tempura style batter is delicious! The fish is pretty good too. But for some reason I only remember the BANG BANG shrimp and dessert!! For those who may know me I plan my meals based on whats for dessert ... but for this actual day they were serving an amazing mouth watering fresh strawberry shortcake... which I pretty much ate on my own.... haha. If I venture out in SC again I will definitely come back here!

The menu and specials have plenty of variety for everyone. Don't let the price scare you. Try the Hand-held items or an appetizer and salad. It's enough to fill you up without spending too much.
